War veterans will write FREEDOM CHARTER - Damascene moment! Alleluia!

“THE Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association (ZNLWVA) is co-ordinating the preparation of a document highlighting people's grievances while seeking consensus around a candidate they shall support going into the 2018 harmonised elections,” reported the Financial Gazette.

“In what could further widen the chasm between them and the ruling Zanu-PF party, the former guerrilla war fighters are crafting their own version of the Freedom Charter, borrowing heavily from the South African Freedom Charter of 1955, celebrated annually as a major political milestone in South Africa's post-colonial history.”

I had to read the article again, I just could not believe my own eyes!

If the war veterans go ahead and produce this “Freedom Charter” along the lines of SA’s freedom charter then they would have done this nation the greatest service ever since the nation’s independence.
SA’s “The people shall govern!” and “One person one vote in free, fair and credible elections.” must be in there somewhere in the new freedom charter.

It is very unlikely that these war veterans will see this project through. Zanu PF is clearly determined to side track them, the party is already sending out its officials to every province, offering the war veterans plenty of meat and beer. These war veterans have sold-out big time in the past, the chances are they will do so again!

Still after years of doing President Mugabe’s dirty laundry harassing, beating, raping and even murdering innocent people to impose the Zanu PF one-party cum one-man dictatorship. As soon as Mugabe has the election victory safely in the bag he has, without failure, kicked the war veterans in the teeth. The penny has finally dropped!

“Constantly casting his eyes around as if alert to some danger and,” continued the report, “stretching his hands during the interview, Victor Matemadanda ZNLWVA Secretary General continued: ‘Senior Zanu-PF officials are sharing national resources among themselves. Varikuti varikudya nepedu. Tirimanyana eshiri here isu anosvisvinirwa mumuromo (they say they are eating on our behalf, are we nestlings who are fed regurgitated food?). Let resources be shared equitably among all the citizens.

‘What we need is to find a political role and in doing so we are not targeting an individual. We are looking beyond individuals.’"

Alleluia! Now there is someone who has certain had his Damascene moment! After 36 years the scales over his eyes must have need a crowbar to price them off!

  1. Mutsvangwa's attempts to blame Zimbabwe's economic woos on Kasukuwere and Moyo only serve to expose him for the liar he is because the Zimbabwe economic problems can be traced back President Mugabe's 1980 "scientific socialism" of mismanagement, corruption and lawlessness. G40 only came into existence in 2014 long after the economic was in the gutter!

What Mutsvangwa and his rogue war veterans are failing to get into their thick heads is that it is not for the war veterans to decide who is going to be the next president of Zimbabwe. That is the prerogative of the people of Zimbabwe in a free, fair and credible elections.

We know that since 1997 President Mugabe has used war veterans to spearhead his vote rigging schemes. The war veterans have themselves since admitted that they have played a major role in helping President Mugabe impose himself and Zanu PF on the nation by labelling all those seeking a meaning and free vote regime-change agents. These rogue war veterans are now manoeuvring themselves so they can impose Emmerson Mnangagwa on the party and the nation.

War veterans consider themselves to be the “stockholders of Zanu PF and Zimbabwe” and thus granting themselves a veto on who is to rule Zimbabwe represent everything that is foul and repugnant in Zimbabwe today.

Whilst it is clear that the war veterans want their “stockholder” status restore to defeat the G40 faction within the party, an internal party matter in which the ordinary Zimbabwean has no interest one way or the other. What concerns every thinking Zimbabwean is the reality of the war veterans using their restored powers to impose Mnangagwa on the nation.

That right of every Zimbabwean to free, fair and credible elections is sacrosanct.
