"Zimbabweans must unite for shared vision," argued Komichi. What vision has MDC ever had other than a seat on gravy train! W Mukori

Veteran opposition politician and anti-Zanu PF hardcore, Senator Morgan Komichi has claimed that there is need for opposition movements must to unite and fight Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangwagwa's administration head-on in order to save the country from socio-pilitical and economic turmoil that Zimbabwe has been constantly facing,” reported Bulawayo 24.

“Speaking during an interview with this publication, Komichi appealed for the opposition members unite, claiming that "All MDC splinters must unite to reconstruct the Mass Democratic Struggle once more.”

"I call for National Dialogue to resolve the socio-economic and political crisis in Zimbabwe. I urge Zimbabweans to unite for peace and shared vision," Komichi said.

What is Senator Komichi wittering about?

"All MDC splinters must unite to reconstruct the Mass Democratic Struggle once more!” If the opposition was ever a Mass Democratic Struggle, then why did it fail to implement even one token democratic reform these last 24 years including 5 years of the 2008 to 2013 GNU. For the record Senator Komichi was a senior MDC leader throughout the GNU.

Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office; the ministerial limos, generous salary and allowances, a US$ 4 million mansion for Tsvangirai himself, etc., etc. To show their appreciation the MDC leaders forgot about implementing the reforms.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidzi kudya anyerere!” (MDC leaders have learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life, they will never rock the boat!) boasted Zanu PF cronies when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing the reforms during the GNU.

Ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections; knowing fully well Zanu PF was rigging and that participating would give the regime legitimacy; for the same reasons they failed to implement even one reform during the GNU - greed and incompetence. And, worst of all, they have conned their ignorant and gullible party supporters to participate in the flawed elections to perpetuate the dictatorship and the nation’s suffering.

How anyone can be conned into believing such idiotic nonsense as Chamisa’s “I have plugged all Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!” beggars belief! The upstart did not have verified voters’ roll and failed to deploy election agents at all polling stations even though he had the funding for it.

“I urge Zimbabweans to unite for peace and shared vision!” Yeah right! The only “share vision” Komichi and company have is to con Zimbabweans into participating in the flawed 2028 elections, give Zanu PF legitimacy and that he will be one of the lucky ones to win one of the gravy train seats!

Neither Senator Komichi nor any of his former MDC colleagues will ever implement any of the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and thus end this double curse of 44 years of rigged elections and bad governance. Komichi et al had many golden opportunities to implement the reforms these last 24 years including 5 in the GNU; they wasted them all. It is naive, to say the least, to believe they will do so now.

Zimbabweans must accept MDC/CCC have failed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections, the idea of winning RIGGED elections is just absurd. We must elect opposition leaders who will get the reforms implemented.

Just because MDC/CCC failed to do so does not mean it cannot be done. The need to get the reforms implemented is more urgent now than ever; the country is in a serious economic and political mess, another rigged election in 2028 in simply unthinkable!

What is required to save Zimbabwe is that the electorate to be educated so that they are knowledgeable and not so easily conned taken advantage of by these corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless politicians, from both sides of the political divide!

  1. Zimbabwe has dispatched a prominent business delegation to Sao Paulo, Brazil, in a proactive move to strengthen trade partnerships and address food insecurity concerns. This strategic mission, organized in response to President Emmerson Mnangagwa's call for ensuring food security amidst drought and harsh weather conditions, underscores the private sector's commitment to supporting national resilience and agricultural sustainability.

Led by Dr. Tafadzwa Musarara, Chairman of the Grain Millers Association of Zimbabwe (GMAZ), the 20-member private sector delegation is in Brazil to engage with white and yellow maize suppliers. Fuelled by the President's directive to combat hunger and food scarcity, the delegation aims to secure approximately 400,000 metric tonnes of maize under a supply arrangement spanning from September 2024 to August 2025.

Zimbabwe used to be the breadbasket of the region until Zanu PF stepped in and seized the farms to give them to Zanu PF cronies mostly. The country’s agricultural sector collapsed and with it the economy.

It is ironic that Zanu PF is sending a 20 member delegation all the way to Brazil to find out the answer to what the regime did wrong when it seized the farms. The simple and honest answer is stop the criminal waste of human and material resources subsidising corrupt and incompetent farmers with all these idiotic command agriculture schemes. The answer the regime does not want to hear and so will ignore. So why bother! What a waste of resources!

MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token democratic reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy all these last 24 years. They have had no other ambition other than to secure for themselves a seat on the Zanu PF run gravy train.

Rumour has it that some SADC leaders want Zimbabwe's damning 2023 election report to be discussed at the August SADC Summit in Harare. The stench of illegitimacy is simply refusing to go away!

Another rumour has it that Mnangagwa is reaching out to Chamisa to have the political dialogue. No doubt to offer Chamisa some political and financial inducement leading to some Ian Smith - Muzorewa type internal settlement (Chamisa would hate it to be called POLAD) and thus present SADC leaders with a fiat accompli skunk soaked in Channel 5! It will not work!

Chamisa has lost political credibility in repeatedly participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. Besides he has since lost CCC, it imploded soon after rigged 2023 elections and he abandoned the party in a huff.

If ANC get a bloody nose in the 29 May 2024 SA elections, Mnangagwa's can forget the nonsense of "Zanu PF will rule until donkeys have horns!"

“How does Chamisa lose credibility when ZEC rigged elections? You enjoy to mislead?”

You still do not get it do you?

Chamisa and company have not only failed to implement even one token reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections in 24 years, including 5 in the GNU. Worse still, they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

How anyone can still be ignorant of the historic facts of MDC’s blatant betrayal of the nation even now with the benefit of hindsight beggars belief. But then, it goes a long way to explain why Zimbabwe is a failed state, we have some ignorant people.

Still, just because Zimbabweans are ignorant and naive, do not make the mistake of assuming SADC, AU and the rest of the world are equally stupid. Of corse, they know Chamisa and company are corrupt and incompetent.
