"CHANGE is coming! #Godisinit!" Yeah right! Name one change you brought in 23 years including 5 in GNU? W Mukori

MDC was launched in 1999 on the promise the party will deliver the democratic changes needed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections; as the party name implied, Movement for Democratic change. The party has failed to deliver even one token democratic reform in 23 years, including 5 years in the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they have the golden opportunity to do so.

Still, that has not stopped the party leaders promise change.

“THEIR PLOT WILL FAIL…When I say CHANGE is coming I am clear, certain and fortified!” proclaimed Nelson Chamisa in his latest X posting.

“It doesn’t matter what subterfuge, fraud, antics, tactics or tricks are deployed to delay this reality - delay is not denial! Ignore the sideshows. Hold fast, stay focused and keep your eyes on the ball. Join the citizens fight! #OnePeople #Godisinit.”

What is shocking is that many Zimbabweans out are so ignorant and naive they still believe these empty and meaningless promises even after 23 years with not even one token reform implemented.

Here are the historic facts:

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends have failed to implement any democratic reforms in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU. They have been participating in these flawed elections including the August 2023 election knowing fully well that Zanu PF was denying the ordinary Zimbabweans their fundamental right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and that participating would only give Zanu PF legitimacy.

Still they participated because they also knew that Zanu PF gives away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate. They found the bait irresistible!

Indeed, Chamisa and company were hell bent on participating Chamisa himself claimed that he had “plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes!” Punctuated with the usual “#Godisinit!” Of course, he was lying.

The 2023 elections went ahead without even something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, Zanu PF frog marched the people to its rallies and then to the polling stations, etc. CCC failed to deploy election agents at all polling stations even though the party had received the funds for it.

All the accredited election observers, including AU, SADC and Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC known for endorsing dodgy elections in the past, condemned the 23 August 2023 election as a farce. Even these damning election reports did not stop CCC leaders taking up their share of the gravy train seats and thus endorsing the flawed elections process and giving SADC the excuse to tacitly grant Zanu PF political legitimacy contrary to the damning report form regional body’s own’s election observers.

Before the dust of rigged 2023 elections had settled, CCC members started fighting amongst themselves with many of the party members who had taken up the gravy train seats as MPs, senators and councillors being recalled. Now there is talk of CCC breaking up to form separate political parties.

Ever since its launch in 1999 MDC has split, regrouped only to split again many times; CCC is heading for a new split. So in their foolishness Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends have helped Zanu PF rig the 2023 elections and get away with it whilst they fight over scraps Zanu PF throw at them!

The way forward for Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is a failed state because for 43 years the nation has been stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship which rigged elections to stay in power. The nation reached the right conclusion in the late 1990s in demanding democratic changes designed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections, as with all others in the past, because MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement the democratic reforms designed to stop the regime rigging elections. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, and not even one token reform implemented; it should be clear to the people of Zimbabwe that MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless.

Chamisa and company will never ever implement the necessary reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Never ever! They failed to implement even one reforms during the GNU when they had all the trump cards, it is naive to think they will do so now when Zanu PF hold all the trump cards.

The way forward for Zimbabwe is to accept CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent, they will never implement the necessary reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and elect competent leaders who will implement the reforms. It is insane for the nation to still believe Chamisa’s lies that CCC will deliver change when he has filed to deliver even one token change in 23 years!

CCC will never deliver reforms and free elections no more than Zanu PF will ever deliver the so-called upper middle income, Vision 2030!

“Recent events have once again highlighted the internal struggles and confusion within Zimbabwe's opposition movement. Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the opposition party, attempted to test the waters by hinting at the formation of a new party called the Democratic Alternative of Zimbabwe. However, this move quickly backfired, leaving Chamisa and his allies to reassess their strategy.

The public reaction to this scheme suggests that voters, particularly opposition supporters, are growing tired of Chamisa's tactics. While some of his bootlickers may believe that their trick dominated the narrative for the past 48 hours, they fail to see the bigger picture.”

Zanu PF is NOT favoured by the people, it would not need to rig elections if it was so favoured. MDC/CCC has done Zanu PF the favour by failing to implement even one democratic reform to stop the regime rigging elections and by participating in flawed elections to give it legitimacy out of greed.

CCC has conned the ignorant and naive Zimbabwe populous to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating povo’s own suffering. The people were foolish enough to believe such blatant lies as Chamisa claiming he had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes when everyone knew ZEC had failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. An electorate this naive and gullible deserve to suffer and Zimbabweans are suffering alright. And they will continue to suffer until they learn what constitute free and fair elections - it is not rocket science.

  2. During the GNU Zanu PF learned that bribe the MDC leaders and they will NOT implement even one token reform. Since the GNU Zanu PF has known that MDC/CCC leaders would participate in the elections no matter how flawed the process becomes as long as they are assured of winning some gravy train seats!

CCC are taking Zimbabweans for fools with all this double talk! They were so hell bent on participating in the 2023 elections they insisting CCC would win big because they “plugged all the vote rigging loop holes!” They ignored SADC and AU who condemned the election as a farce to take up their gravy train seats. It was only then that they condemned the election process for no other reason than to pay lip service to reform and free elections and appease their naive and gullible supporters.

If Zimbabwe is to end this curse of rigged elections and bad governance then we must elect competent men and women who will implement the reforms. CCC will never implement any reforms and deliver free elections; this is the message that must be hammered into the Zimbabwe electorate.

  3. Singapore PM speech that has gone viral. Let it go viral. Start watching, and you won't stop.

Rigging elections is the very epitome of a rotten system and in the case of Zimbabwe Zanu PF is rigging elections with the help of the opposition who are participating in flawed elections out of greed!

“If having an election stolen is blamed on the opposition I have to suggest that all the learned Zimbos are complicit and are political cowards for blaming the victim of a theft.”

Only some one who has no clue what he/she is talking about would say this!

The MDC/CCC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms, particularly during the 2008 to 2013 GNU; they failed to implement even one reform because Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of hight office; the ministerial limos, the generous salaries, a US$4 m mansion for Save himself. And, in return, the MDC leaders forgot about the reforms.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” boasted Zanu PF cronies during the GNU when asked why MDC leaders have failed to implement even one reform.

MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. And the MDC/CCC leaders admit it themselves.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

Only some one who does not know what they are talking about would claimed MDC/CCC leaders are “victims” of the Zanu PF rigged elections. Who can the individual who have connived with Zanu PF to rig elections out of greed be the victims?

“Unoswerero yimba reforms from mdc/CCC ko ako awakaitavo aripi kana unehanya nekutambura kwevana vezimbabwe.”

You keep coming up with some really stupid arguments!

MDC/CCC leaders were elected into office these last 23 years on the promise they would implement democratic reforms. They have failed to implement even one reform and I am holding them to account.

Are you saying I should not do so because I have not implemented any reforms myself? You know as well as I do that have never held public office and therefore had no opportunity to implement the reforms. The only reason why you are asking these idiotic questions is because you do not want MDC/CCC leaders held to account.

By failing to implement the reforms out of greed MDC/CCC leaders have allowed Zanu PF to stay in power and thus extending the suffering of ordinary Zimbabweans. And you think you are doing povo a great favour by allowing MDC/CCC leaders to betray the people? How anyone can be so shallow , thick and slow beggars belief!

  6. CITIZENS Coalition for Change (CCC) President Nelson Chamisa has fired his Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume and six other councillors for aligning themselves with self-proclaimed party Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu and fanning chaos in the party.

Mafume’s expulsion comes barely a month after he was re-elected as Harare Mayor under unclear circumstances that kickstarted the end of his role in CCC.

His election was dominated by allegations he had convinced Tshabangu to recall then Mayor Lovejoy Chitengu so he could force his way back. He is reported to have demanded that councillors vote for him, telling them he held the keys to their continued stay at Town House.

Mafume was reportedly hurt by Chamisa’s decision not to second him for re-election following August’s General Elections. He had hoped for a second term after finishing off former Harare Mayor, Herbert Gomba’s term.

The other six councillors who have been reportedly fired are Bulawayo’s Deputy Mayor Edwin Ndlovu, Mutare Mayor Sophia Gwasira, her deputy Cloud Nengomasha, and two unnamed councillors in Marondera and Harare.
“Mafume has been fired for his role in destabilising the party,” said a source close to developments.

MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one democratic change in 23 years and this is the number one task the people have voted them to do. All they have ever done is pay lip service to change and fight each other over the scraps Zanu PF throws at them.

Zimbabwe is a failed state because the nation is stuck with this corrupt and incompetent Zanu PF dictatorship. The regime has rigged elections to stay in power because MDC/CCC have sold out on reforms and have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

To end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance Zimbabwe must elected quality opposition leaders who will implement the reforms. CCC will never implement the reforms, they failed to do it during the GNU it is naive to expect them to do so now.

  7. OVER 50% of Zimbabwe’s employed workforce earns less than US$18 per month according to DOTZEDW, an organisation that looks at market insights within the SADC region.

Calculated in the local RTGS dollar, DOTZEDW revealed that the over 50% indicated were being paid salaries of ZW$200,000 or less.

This is almost four times lower than the country’s Poverty Datum Line (PDL) which stood at ZWS840,000 for a family of six as of December 2023.

Macrotrends last recorded Zimbabwe’s Poverty Rate at 85% in 2019, while the United Nations (UN) placed it on 70.5% in 2020.

The country is characterised by a two-decade long economic crisis that has depleted savings, devalued salaries, left millions out of employment and constantly seen a hike in prices of basic commodities.

Hundreds of skilled personnel within government and the private sector have fled the country for better paying, well resourced countries beyond Africa.
With the country largely informal, those in the formal sector have had little representation in labour disputes that emanate from the poor wages they earn.

Most have been forced to earn what they are offered in fear of millions more who might snap up their position if they get fired.

Before a US$300 Covid-19 allowance was introduced, civil servants who constitute the largest proportion of Zimbabwe’s employed workforce were earning less than US$75.

The US$300 has since been added onto their taxable monthly wages.

Even in the face of this economic reality you will still hear some people wittering about Zimbabwe becoming an upper middle income nation by 2030, vision 2030! This is the consequence of the nation’s failure to hold free, fair and credible elections so that the ordinary people who are at the coal face of the economic collapse have a meaningful say in the governance of the country.

“If you were seeing that mdc/CCC were not doing anything, in all those 23 years what stopped you from seeking office to do it yourself 🤷🤷🤷🤷wayida kuitigwa nevamwe varume iwe uripo.”

Here we go again! MDC/CCC leaders were elected into public office on the promise they would deliver the democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Are you saying they should not be held to account because I and the millions of other Zimbabweans out there did not seek public office to implement the forms ourselves?

MDC/CCC leaders sold out on reforms and they WILL be held to account for it; to suggest otherwise is foolish! All those who hold public office are accountable to the people - that is not negotiable.

  9. ZIMBABWE is bracing for a year of hunger, following disclosures by the government that the Grain Marketing Board, as of 10 December 2023, was left with maize stocks lasting just 10 months at a time when an El Niño-induced drought is threatening mayhem.
    BRENNA MATENDERE
On the other hand, Zimbabweans will bear the brunt of biting taxes that come into effect in January as announced by Finance minister Mthuli Ncube in his 2024 National Budget statement.
The new taxes will add to the hardships already being experienced by the general population due to the worsening economic situation prevailing in the country.
According to Information minister Jenfan Muswere during the last 2023 cabinet meeting, the GMB is facing a supply deficit of grain, with the available stocks of maize, traditional grain and wheat only covering the demand of consumption for 10.2 months and 11.5 months respectively.

This from a country that used to be the breadbasket of the region!

Zimbabwe is failed state and will remain a failed state until we implement the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections! MDC/CCC leaders failed to get even one token reform implemented n 23 years, including 5 in the GNU. We need to accept this political reality first to move on to the next step - replacing CCC with competent opposition.

The root cause of Zimbabwe’s problems is the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections. If the solution was that people must be on the ground then these problems should not even exist because you and millions other Zimbabweans are there in Zimbabwe!

There are many reasons why Zanu PF was able to blatantly rig the August 2023 elections and one of the reasons is the sheer stupidity of many of our people. Some people have a knack to make a mountain out of a molehill and thus ignoring the real important issues to focus of trivial matters. Your obsession with everyone being on the ground is just one such example.

You simply cannot get it into your thick head that stopping Zanu PF rigging elections has nothing to do whether one is in Zimbabwe or out, sex, race, tribe, etc., etc.

MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections because Zanu PF bribed them with the trappings of high office including the ministerial limos, generous gravy train salaries and allowances, US$4 m mansion for Save himself, etc., etc. How anyone can still call these sell outs “victims” beggars belief.

No wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state, we really have more than our fair share of nincompoops! Even after 23 years of MDC/CCC with not even one reform implemented, the penny has not dropped that Chamisa and company will never implement any reforms.

“As long as Chamisa is living and Zanu PF still existing, people will never follow any opposing political party without Chamisa being its leader.”

Given that MDC/CCC has failed to implement even one reform in 23years because the party leaders are corrupt and incompetent this is a shocking position to take. Still, this is not surprising given you have no clue what the reforms are much less that MDC/CCC leaders sold out by failing to implement the reforms.

Zimbabwe is a failed state and many people have played their part in landing us into this mess. One group who have dragged us into this mess are individuals who know are, for all practical purposes, brain dead but pretend they are wiser than King Solomon himself. For only a village idiot would ever regard another fellow mortal as an infallible demigod, particular when the individual has a proven track record as corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless.

“Why are you not worries about Zanu PF which has failed to deliver for the past 44yrs, you attack the opposition which has no access to your hard earned money(tax) yet those who steal it in broad daylight you choose to close your eyes on them.”

The spirit is willing but the intellect is weak, so feeble there is nothing there!

By the late 1990s the people of Zimbabwe realised not only that Zanu PF thugs are corrupt and incompetent but more significantly that as long as the party retains its carte blanche dictatorial powers to rig elections the nation is stuck with regime and it will drag the nation deeper and deeper into the abyss. The only way to end the Zanu PF dictatorship was by stopping the regime rigging the elections by implementing the democratic reforms designed to take away the dictatorial powers.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb t the hands of the Zanu PF thugs to elect MDC/CCC leaders these last 23 years on the understanding the opposition will implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections just at it has done since 1980 because MDC/CCC not only sold out on reform by have given up implementing reforms. Chamisa and company have been participating in these flawed elections knowing doing so would give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

If you had any brain at all then you should be coming to the conclusion that MDC/CCC leader are corrupt and incompetent because they have failed to implement even one reform in 23 years, including 5 in he GNU. What the nation needs therefore is to elect competent opposition leaders who will implement the reforms.

But, because you are intellectually challenged, you have reverted to default position of expecting Zanu PF to implement the reforms. This is the position the nation had rejected after nearly 20 years of Zanu PF misrule in the 1990s because Zanu PF was benefiting from the rigged elections and would never reform itself out of office. If this was not obvious then it is certainly obvious now!

  13. After 23 years and not even one token reform implemented Chamisa's promise of change is just another mirage no different from Mnangagwa's promise of Zimbabwe becoming upper middle income nation by 2030, Vision 2030. If we want change, want to stop Zanu PF rigging future elections, then we must elect competent opposition who will implement the democratic reforms.
