Zimbabwe is a failed state because we're governed by buffoons who claim to know best but know nothing. W Mukori

Both Emmerson Mnangagwa and his ruling party Zanu PF and Nelson Chamisa and his CCC party claim that they are nation builders. If so, then why is Zimbabwe a failed state whose economy is in ruins and his in political paralysis as neither the ruling party nor the opposition party have offered a way out of this hell-o-earth of our own making?

The obvious and truthful answer is: neither Mnangagwa nor Chamisa nation builders. They wish they were nation builders and claim that they are, there is a mountain of evidence on each side to prove they are not what they claim to be!

Ever since Emmerson Mnangagwa seized power in the aftermath of the November 2017 military coup that ousted the late Robert Mugabe Mnangagwa has been cocksure he was the man who would finally deliver the mass economic prosperity, “gutsa ruzhinji” Zanu PF had promised ever since the country’s independence. He had clearly waited the 34 years of Mugabe rule for this chance and he fit the ground running.

“Zimbabwe is open for business!” Mnangagwa proclaimed within a few weeks of seizing power. And he and his supporting team, all dressed in the trademark Zimbabwe flag scarf, were out selling the idea at every opportunity. They expected nothing short of a flood of local and foreign investors all keen as mustard to do business. The flood of investors never materialised.

Mnangagwa failed to keep his promise to stamp out corruption, to hold free and fair elections, etc., etc. proof to all but especially the savvy investors that Zimbabwe was still a pariah state and therefore not yet open for business.

Undaunted by the failure of his “Zimbabwe is open for business!” mantra; Mnangagwa fine tuned it. He decided to focus on attracting Zimbabweans in the country and in the diaspora to spearhead nation build schemes. “Nyika inovakwa nevenevayo!” was born and launched with the usual no-expense-spared pomp and razzmatazz.

It is now six years since the November 2017 military coup it is no exaggeration none of Mnangagwa’s harebrained schemes to revive the economy have worked. None! The country has failed to showed any meaningful recovery economically, politically, socially and every other which-way ever since the November 2017 military coup.

Indeed, many argue that things are even worse than there were under Mugabe. Corruption has certain gone into overdrive. Mnangagwa himself was named in the Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary aired early this year. Mnangagwa was not even concerned about the expose and even announced that Mbava4ED (Looters4ED) was one of the many groups that would help with his August 2023 election campaign.

Mnangagwa has remains confident he would deliver on his promise to make Zimbabwe an upper middle income nation by 2030, Vision 2030. The very fact that the last six years of his so called Second Republic has failed to produce any sign he was on the right track has not shaken his self-confidence. Indeed he is as cocky as ever, so cocky he has just rigged the August 2023 elections - just to be absolutely sure the nation would not be deprived of the great services of the best nation builder this side of the grave!

Well Zimbabwe is in luck, because Nelson Chamisa is equally cocky and cocksure he is the greatest nation builder ever!

“In my whole life I have never destroyed. I only build,” stated Chamisa in one of this regular twitter proclamations.

“I was never born with the gift of destroying or killing. I was born with the mantle to build. My gift is to build not specialise in profitless fights. I invest in peace no matter the cost or abuse. Zimbabwe needs builders not destroyers demolishers. We need light not fight!”

The USA ambassador to Zimbabwe 2004 to 2007, Chris Dell, said, in a leaked cable back to Washington, that the now late Morgan Tsvangirai was “a flawed and indecisive character who, if he ever got into power, will become an albatross around the nation’s neck.”

The ambassador could have said the same about all the other MDC leaders including Nelson Chamisa. And MDC/CCC have been on the political stage for 23 years including 5 in the GNU. They have not only failed to implement even one democratic reform, the number one task they were elected to do, but worst of all they have been participating inflated elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the nation’s suffering.

Ambassador Dell was right Chamisa and his CCC fiend are nothing but the milestone around the nation’s neck dragging us all deep into the crushing abyss.

Ever since Chamisa seized power following Tsvangirai’s death the country’s main opposition party has blundered from pillar to post. Many people have said the worsening economic and political situation has made Zanu PF so unpopular the party would lose the elections to a troop of monkeys in a free, fair and credible elections. Underlining that to win the elections all Chamisa and company had to do was make sure the elections were free and fair. A bridge too far because Chamisa et al have been hell bent on participating in flawed elections by failing to implement the reforms and then participating in flawed election, as noted above.

So here is Chamisa stubbornly maintain he was “born with the mantle to build” and yet after 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, he and his MDC/CCC friends have failed to implement even one democratic reform  to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Indeed, they are the ones helping Zanu PF stay in power by participating in flawed elections for a share of the spoils of power.

“Born with the mantle to build!” Yeah right!

The story goes that a friend of the Greek Philosopher Socrates asked the Oracle of Delphi if there was anyone wiser than Socrates. “No!” was the reply.

When Socrates was told the story, he set out to find out for himself if indeed he was the wisest. I sorted all the individuals many believed were wise. He found out that these wise people did not have knowledge they claimed to have. “If I am the wisest man alive, for I know one thing, and that is that I know nothing!”

Zimbabwe is a failed state after 43 years and counting stuck with a regime of buffoons who have claimed to know what is best for the nation and yet they know nothing. They have conspired and connived to rig elections denying the people a meaningful say in the governance of the country. The worst curse to befall a nation is to be governed by buffoons who claim to know but know nothing. Alas! Zimbabwe has the mother of that curse; in that, both the ruling party and the opposition have seasoned buffoons as leaders across the board!

“Guys you need to understand one thing about Chamisa's supporters, we will support him no matter what...he is the best foot forward at th moment. Tried and tested...so haa relax, porai henyu. We are not going to stop now. Tiriwero naNero.”

Man is supposed to be a creature of reason and when some not only says they “will support a fellow human being no matter what” but do it too it is proof they has lost their mind. No human being is infallible that is a universal truth and so why would anyone make such an idiotic pledge!

Chamisa has already proven that he is corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. He is the one who dragged the nation into these flawed and illegal elections insisting that he plugged all the vote rigging loop holes when he could not even deploy election agents at all polling station even when he had been given the money to do it.

The real tragedy for Zimbabwe is we do have many out there whose brains have ossified into fat they are incapable of thinking for themselves and so are given to supporting politicians “no matter what”! And to crown it all, they have the vote!

“Why do u only believe Chamisa is the only person who cause a change?what about you as an individual, what have you contributed.”

Holding those in power to account is one of the key duties of the citizen in a health and functioning democracy. One of the reasons why Zimbabwe is a failed state is that very few Zimbabweans have taken this duty with the seriousness the matter demands.

Indeed, we have some village idiots who have not only neglected their duty to hold leaders to account they are attacking those who are holding leaders to account. The idiots consider the leaders to be infallible demigods who should not be held to account.

How anyone can ever believe that another mortal is infallible especially when there is a mountain of evidence already that the leader is corrupt and incompetent beggars belief! But when you are braindead as these village idiots are, you believe anything!

So in Zimbabwe a diligent citizen not only has to hold those in power to democratic account but has to put up with the barrage of attacks from the morons who think leaders are demigods!

“What about you as an individual, what have you contributed?”
I do not hold and position of power, what do you expect me to do? Of course, it is not that you expect me to do anything, you just want me to stop holding Chamisa to account.

Chamisa lied about plugging all the vote rigging loop holes and thus dragging the nation into yet another flawed and illegal election. He must and will be held to account for this and many other blunders - that is not negotiable. This reality will be hammered into your empty head! I have the sludge hammer for the job and will never stop until the job is done!

“After reading this article, you will realise that Dr Nkosana Moyo was right that many Zimbabweans are not fighting for change, but inclusion to allow them to loot.”

In an interview with Trevor Ncube, Dr Simba Makoni revealed how within a few months of Zanu PF taking over power in 1980 Mugabe surprised his minister by replacing the Peugeot Ian Smith gave his ministers with Mercedes Benz limos. The limos had not been budgeted for and Mugabe’s cabinet had not even known about it; it was a gift from Prime Minister Mugabe to his ministers.

The patronage system was born and with it mismanagement and corruption. Metric counted for nothing blind loyalty was the new currency.

Dr Makoni explained how this culture of the chefs getting special treatment quickly spread down the ranks. “It was normal for a parastatal spend a fortune buying a fleet of vehicles for CEO and senior staff and yet has no money to pay the wages of junior staff and to provide the basic services.”

The people of Zimbabwe have risked all to elect the MDC/CCC leaders to implement the democratic reforms designed not only to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections but to dismantle the whole Zanu PF dictatorship edifice including the patronage system. Mugabe had different ideas.

When the MDC leaders had their golden chance to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship during the 2008 to 2013 GNU, Mugabe bribed them with the same trappings of high offices he had bribed his own Zanu PF colleagues. Tsvangirai and company found the bribes irresistible and they kicked the reforms out of the window. Not even the constant nagging by SADC to implement reforms could get MDC leaders to lift a finger.

Dr Nkosana Moyo was right, Zimbabwe has failed to change because those fighting for change have only paid lip service to change when all they wanted was a seat on the gravy train and join in the looting.

  4. Chamisa owes the nation an apology for dragging the nation into yet another flawed and illegal election process after lying that he had plugged the vote rigging loop holes. The chaos and confusion resulting from the recall of CCC elected officials is just one more expensive CCC blunder.

Instead of the apology he is boasting what is happening is making him stronger. “Being refined in the furnace of affliction. I’m feeling so charged and fired up!" Fired up to drag the nation down yet another rabbit hole!

Zimbabwe is a failed state not so much because we, the people, have done nothing but rather we have been doing the wrong thing. Giving our blind support to MDC/CCC these last 23 years was doing the wrong thing. The party has not only sold out on reforms but is the one participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

WE MUST THINK AND DO THE RIGHT THINGS FOR A CHANGE!

Let’s not predict who will move Zimbabwe forward while we are watching . join in the battle.”

Before joining you must be sure where you are going, millions have supported MDC/CCC these last 23 years and the party has not only failed to implement even one reform but is the one now keeping Zanu PF in power by participating in flawed elections.

The biggest challenge in Zimbabwe is not that people are doing nothing but that they doing the wrong thing. They don’t know what they are doing.

Shooting yourself in the foot is not going to advance your cause but undermine it!

“Mr Mukori after all is said and done, what's the best way forward??”

I have answered this question but I do not think many people have understood mainly because they did not understand where we are.

It is enough to say we want a Zimbabwe where there is freedom, liberty, justice and economic prosperity for all. 43 years after independence and we are worse off than we were under white colonial rule it is not enough to restate what we want we must discuss and digest why we have failed to get what we wanted all these years.

So the way forward is complex, it involves understanding where we are, why we got lost, identifying where we are going, how we are going to get there, etc., etc. It is not enough having a map, you must be able to read it, know where you want to go, where you are at present, etc., etc.

Winds of change are blowing as people continue speaking shit about the man who 8sca victim for standing for the powerless majority. Am watching and listening, a lot of mouths will be shut soon.”

Even if Chamisa was to take over tomorrow and we all lived happily ever after, it would still be Pyrrhic victory because this should have happened in 2013 at the latest if MDC leaders had implemented the democratic reforms during the GNU. They sold out and thus declared the end of this corrupt, tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship by a whole decade. Do you know the economic and human suffering and deaths that have occurred during the last ten years?

Why even bother ask some one like you! You have no clue what I am talking about. Stupidity has its own advantages, you are blissful unaware of what is going on. You have remained as faithful as a dog to MDC/CCC leaders even with all the benefit of hindsight how they sold out on reforms.

Even if Zimbabwe was given a clean democratic system tomorrow, with this ignorant, naive and gullible electorate, it will not last for long before the corrupt and tyrannical autocracy is back.

  8. In short Chamisa is an infallible demigod how dare you mere mortal dare to hold him to account!

I know no amount of evidence will ever convince you that Chamisa is not only a mere mortal but a corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless one. So be it, I still will say it from the roof top “Chamisa is not only a mere mortal but a corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless one!” because it is the truth. And because it must hammered into your empty head if there is any hope of stopping the insanity that has landed this nation in this mess.

It is not just the buffoons in power one has to deal with to dismantle this failed political system; there is a legion after legions of mentally retarded nincompoops who put the buffoon into power and consider them demigods! To get to the buffoons you have to plough through the morons defending them, bear all the idiotic accusation they will fire at you!

In the first decades after our independence the morons thought Mugabe was a demigod and now they same idiots worship Chamisa with the same blind devotion. Even if the penny was to finally drop that Chamisa is indeed corrupt and incompetent; it will not be long before they have another demigod and so the cycle starts all over again. This is the price a nation must pay for giving morons the vote!

You Chickenbreast, you are the textbook moron with some education - you can read and write but no common sense. Even an upstart like Chamisa knows how to twist you round his little finger. The biggest mistake Zimbabwe has ever made is give morons like you the vote!

Would they dare do the same for King Mzilikazi and King Lobhengula? If not, so why is Nehanda being imposed on the whole nation, including on our currency. Even Mugabe would be more acceptable than a typical tribal figure of one community.

These thugs have no idea what nation building. 43 years down the line, 99.9 percent of Shona people can't speak a single Zimbabwe Black language other than their Shona. And you call that nation building.

In South Africa with 62 million people, of which 80 percent are Black, the average black South African speaks three South African black languages. They don't have this Andinzwi chindevere nonsense. Nothing!”

You denounce the Shona for being tribalist and yet you are the biggest tribalist yourself. You refuse to attribute Chamisa or Mnangagwa’s failure to their human faults such as being corrupt and incompetence you want to attribute it to the tribe, Shona, as if if they were Ndebele they would not be corrupt and incompetent.

Poor, poor Zimbabwe, to revive the country we must find solutions to rigged elections, corruption and incompetence and, as if that is not more than enough to bear, we must add tribalism!

“Lol you guys are obsessed about criticizing a man of integrity.”

I hear you and trust me I have been asked the same a thousand time! This is a very common sentiment born out of the common belief that those not with you are against you and the binary mentality that the choice is between CCC and Zanu PF. The truth is Zimbabwe is stuck precisely because people have failed to see that MDC/CCC are corrupt and incompetent and will never get the nation out of the mess.

People need to think outside the box, outside the binary solution. To start with MDC/CCC leaders are fallible like you and me to even think they should not be held to democratic account is a fatal mistake. They have failed and now we must look beyond them.

Here is what I said to some one only yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  11. In October, CCC ordered its MPs to disengage from the National Assembly in protest over recall of its members which they described as illegitimate.
However, the protest could not deter Tshabangu from calling another batch of MPs before a court interdict.
CCC MPs say they are awaiting the party’s directive.
Political analyst Rejoice Ngwenya said the withdrawal should be backed by consensus of Zimbabweans to be effective.
“I’m not sure how solid CCC’s current political objective is vis a vis being in Parliament. My observations are that Zanu-PF will push Sengezo Tshabangu for more recalls, because their insanity knows no bounds. A pull out that is not backed with country wide citizen solidarity achieves very little.
“Opposition is not CCC, but the general populace aggrieved by mutilation of constitutional democracy. So a pull out or not means nothing if two million voters remain quiet,” said Ngwenya.

CCC leaders knew the 2023 elections were flawed and that participating will only give Zanu PF legitimacy. They were hell bent on participating because they also knew that Zanu PF would be giving away a number of gravy train seats. All these basic points were spelt out in black and white in David Coltart’s book and this quotation is well known.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 23 August 2023 elections; AU, SADC and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC election observers have all condemned the process as flawed and illegal. President Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies compete with the CCC members are all illegitimate because the process used to get them into power was flawed and illegal.

What these illegitimate officials do whilst in office is academic since it will not change their legal standing - they are illegitimate and so will remain until the nation hold free, fair and credible elections!

Still, if CCC MPs were going to boycott parliament then they should have done so for good reasons, that the election were flawed for example. To boycott elections because they are fearing being recalled by one of their own CCC members is foolish.

To blame the recalls on Zanu Pf is as stupid as Zanu PF blame the sanctions for the the country’s economic meltdown! Zanu PF is taking advantage of the in-fighting and chaos in CCC but that is not saying they caused the confusion.

“I don't think it's worthy talking of this any more since error was done, best way is best foot forward.”

What were these errors and are sure the lesson that should have been learned were learned? The very fact that we are still having rigged elections proves to me that the errors made during the GNU in failing to get even one token reform implemented are being repeated again and again and again.

One of the error made during the GNU was to believe that MDC could win rigged elections, for example. This is exactly what Chamisa was claiming with his “I have plugged all vote rigging loop holes!”

The other obvious error made during the GNU was the failure to have a vigorous debate on what were the required democratic changes behind the empty slogans. The is still no serious debate on that to this day!

Those who do not learn from the past are destined to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. Of course, we are stuck and it is precisely because we have learned nothing from the past!

  14. One of the biggest challenges in Zimbabwe is that a significant segment of the population believes that leaders are infallible demigods who must not be held to account. The country is stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship not because the regime is invisible, far from it.

We are stuck with the regime because MDC/CCC leaders entrusted the task to implemented the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections sold out. After 23 years including 5 in the GNU MDC leaders have failed to implement even one reform. Not even one! Worst of all since the GNU debacle they have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

MDC/CCC leaders have been running with the povo hare and hunting with the Zanu PF hounds for 23 years and counting! Why has it taken 23 years and still the penny has yet to drop in many of the opposition supporter wildebeest herd? The herd believe Chamisa is an infallible demigod who must not be held to account. Nothing has infuriated the herd more that holding Chamisa to account. Of course, it is very foolish!

Politicians are human beings and not infallible demigods. Chamisa and his CCC friends have already proven that the are corrupt and incompetent by failing to implement even one reform in 23 years. And to sweep this evidence under the carpet for even one more day is unforgivable. Enough is enough of this collective stupidity in the name of unity!

The only "broken record" that concerns me is that Zimbabwe has failed to hold free and fair elections in 43 years and I am determined that this must stop. MDC/CCC were supposed to implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and they have not done so in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU.

You do not want Chamisa et al's corruption and incompetence mentioned because you consider them infallible demigods. I am here to hammer that truth into your empty head that they are mortals and corrupt ones at that. As long as we entrust these CCC sell out to implement the reforms there will be no change.

It will take some effort to persuade some of the brain-dead CCC supporter that it is futile to participate. Remember we are talking of some people whose brains have all but ossified into fat; they think that Chamisa is an infallible demigod.

One of the many tragedies in Zimbabwe is that ignorant and naive people have the vote! And we have a lot of very ignorant and naive voters in Zimbabwe.

The idea that Chamisa should not be held to account is absurd and that anyone with half a brain would defend such a foolish notion is itself tragedy. No wonder the country is a failed state and, at this rate, is doomed!

MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one democratic reform in 23 years 5 of which in the GNU; that is not propaganda, that is a fact! Of course you will "never lose hope in CCC no matter what"! No matter mountain of evidence is presented before you proving that CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent.

This is nothing new, in the 1980s there were many who said the same about Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF. They refused to accept the regime was murdering innocent people in the Gukurahundi massacre! It took nearly 20 years for Zimbabweans to finally admit Zanu PF was a party of corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs.

23 years with no reform and CCC now a junior Zanu PF partner is clearly not long enough, the people have not suffered enough, for the nation to finally wake up to the reality Chamisa is not an infallible demigod but a mere mortal and a corrupt and incompetent one at that.

So you think the only people fighting for a better Zimbabwe are those "who step in the ring" and those holding those in the ring to account and educating the electorate to think for themselves are wasting their time? You are wrong! Educating the electorate is probably the single most important task of our generation.

  27. Zimbabwe's political problems are no long the simple arithmetic with a straight forward binary choice of Zanu PF or CCC; the problems are lot more complex.

Zanu PF has just rigged the 2023 elections. To stop Zanu PF rigging 2028 elections too, we need someone who will implement the reforms. MDC/CCC have failed to get even one reform implemented in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU. This was the task CCC was set to do, they failed to do it and must be held to account for it.

CCC are not infallible demigods and must be held to account. After 23 years with no reforms to show for it must be replaced, period.

Zimbabwe is a failed state and we are not going to get out of this hole by participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy or believing idiotic claims like "I have plugged vote rigging loop holes!”

CCC KNEW that these Zanu PF was rigging these elections. KNEW that by participating they would give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy. CCC were hell bent on participating no matter what because they also KNEW Zanu PF was offering a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate no matter what!

To entice the ordinary people to participate in the flawed elections Chamisa assured them he had “plugged all the vote rigging holes!” CCC failed to carry out even the simple task of deploying election agents for Pete’s sake!

Zimbabwe is a failed state and now we have to add the nightmare of having no legitimate government. CCC connived with Zanu PF to drag the nation in this mess.

To even suggest that we should forget reforms shows the lack of appreciation of what the reforms are because that is tantamount to saying we don’t want the law and rule of law. Imagine Can you imagine Christianity without the Ten Commandments!

Just because MDC/CCC failed to implement even one reform does not mean no one else can implement them much less that we no longer need the reforms and rule of law!

Chamisa and company were hell bent on participating regardless because they also knew that Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate. CCC leaders found the bait irresistible.

Chamisa conned povo to participate; lying about plugging all the vote rigging holes, "God is in it!", etc., etc. to hide the real reason for participating - greed.

The recalls are result of Chamisa's own hare brain scheme to keep CCC as a one-man band in the name of "strategic ambiguity" Let's just say strategic ambiguity has backed badly; he thought he had total control only to discover all his appointees were being recalled willy-nilly. 33. The truth is MDC proved beyond all reasonable doubt that they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent when the failed to implement even one democratic reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. In healthy and functioning democracy leaders are forced to resign for making any serious mistake what MDC leaders did was high treason.

The only reason MDC leaders got away with the national betrayal is that most Zimbabwe had no clue what the reforms are much less the dire consequence that have befallen the nation because no reforms were implemented. Even now with the benefit of hind sight many Zimbabweans have no clue that CCC leaders are sell outs.

After the GNU all the MDC leaders should have walked into the political sun set never to be seen in public life. They are not only here but still leading the nation from one blunder to into the next.

Zimbabwe is a failed state, its economy is in ruins and 49% of out people are leaving in abject poverty. Zanu PF rigged the 2023 elections, the AU, SADC and Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC have condemned the elections as flawed and illegal. So the country does not have a legitimate government confirm its position as a pariah and failed state. All this would not be happening if MDC leaders had implemented the democratic reforms.

Most Zimbabweans who read this will not understand any of it, it is all water off a duck’s back. Still, until Zimbabweans take the task of electing competent leaders who will implement the democratic reforms to ensure free and fair elections, Zimbabwe will remain a failed state and suffer the consequences of that! Many people still to CCC leaders to lead them, they have not learned!

  35. Sengezo Tshabangu is the product of Nelson Chamisa's "strategic ambiguity" of having no party constitution, no structure and no democratically elected official. Tshabangu said the same ambiguous process that "elected" Chamisa President of CCC "elected" him SG of the party. The Courts believed him.

And Tshabangu has used his new found power as SG to recall CCC officials - a process tantamount to throwing the Zanu PF cat amongst the CCC pigeons! There has been chaos and pandemonium and it is feared there could be more to follow!

CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections out of greed and now want to boycott parliament because Zanu PF rigged 2023 elections and yet they did not care about that until now. The truth is they will be boycotting parliament because the "strategic ambiguity" policy backfired!

This rich! CCC participated in the flawed elections knowing the process was flawed and that participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy. They soldiered on regardless out of greed because they also knew that Zanu PF would be giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition.

Even when AU, SADC and even Zimbabwe's own ZHRC election observers confirmed the 23 August 2023 elections were flawed CCC ignore that and took up their seats on the gravy train. The same seats they are now saying they will leave. Why?

The only reason is that they are now under pressure from the Tshabangu recalls. They are boycotting parliament not because 2023 elections were rigged but because Chamisa's strategic ambiguity policy has back fired. Well, I cannot think CCC can give a more foolish reason than that!

No one with half a brain will believe the bulls****t that CCC are only now aware that 2023 elections were rigged much less that Zanu PF is behind the recalls! Of course, Zanu PF is taking advantage of the chaos but that is not the same thing!

The same Nelson Chamisa who participated in the 2018 elections lying that MDC A had "stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the election" to hide the real reason for participating was greed. Ending the Zanu PF dictatorship is not going to be a walk in the park. The longer the regime has stayed in power the tougher it has become to remove it. Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Professor Ncube said, "As of 22 Jan 2022 I was VP of MDCA which on that date by resolution of its National Council resolved to reconstitute itself as CCC and participate in the March 2022 by-elections under that name.  At that meeting the National Council didn't resolve to dissolve itself.”

Chamisa’s policy of “strategic ambiguity” worked in the period January 2023 to just before the 23 August 2023 elections because every one believed they would be one of the few to win the gravy train seats in the elections. Hell broke loose when the losers refused to take it on the chin and in Sengezo Tshabangu they found the man will to take up the fight for them.

By failing to have a constitution and making all the key decision himself Chamisa should have known he would be accused of dictatorial tendencies. Yes a transparent system meant he would lose power and control but rule of law is less divisive. Now the die has been cast it is hard to see how the two warring factions can be united, it is war to the death!

  41. THE World Bank has urged the government to address the country’s energy deficit after estimating that power cuts are costing the economy at least US$1,27 billion annually.

In its fourth Zimbabwe Economic Update report released yesterday, the World Bank said power shortages had stalled economic growth.

“World Bank estimates suggest that Zimbabwe’s power shortages cost the country a total of 6,1% of GDP [gross domestic product] per year, comprising 2,3% of GDP in generation inefficiencies and excessive network losses, and 3,8% of GDP on the downstream costs of unreliable energy,” it said.

Zimbabwe is a pariah state and by failing to hold free, fair and credible elections; AU, SADC and even Zimbabwe’s ZHRC election observers dismissed the August 2023 elections as a farce; Zanu PF confirmed the country’s status as a pariah state. As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state there will be no meaningful economic recovery.

Zimbabwe has had these power shortages since the 1990s and the situation has got progressively worse and and worse and is set to get even worse in the future. Without curing ourselves of the curse of rigged elections and bad governance, nothing will change. Nothing!

The recent controversy over a cartoon published by Zim--daily, depicting Sengezo Tshabangu as Chabengula, a caricature of Lobengula, the Ndebele king, has exposed the hypocrisy and double standards of some sections of the Zimbabwean society. The cartoon, which was meant to mock Tshabangu's role in recalling opposition leaders from parliament and council seats, has been condemned by some Ndebele activists and other sentimentalists as tribalistic and disrespectful of their history and culture. They have accused the cartoonist and the newspaper of perpetuating stereotypes and prejudices against the Ndebele people, who have suffered marginalisation and oppression under the ZANU PF regime.

However, these accusations are baseless and self-serving. The cartoon was not an attack on the Ndebele people as a whole, but on a specific individual who has betrayed the democratic aspirations of millions of Zimbabweans by aligning himself with the ruling party. Tshabangu, who claims to be the interim secretary general of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), has been instrumental in recalling 15 parliamentarians and 26 councilors from the opposition MDC Alliance, creating a majority for Zanu PF in both houses.  He has also been accused of being a son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, a claim that he has not denied.  His actions have been widely criticised as undemocratic, unconstitutional and opportunistic.

The cartoon was in bad taste, to say the least, and for anyone to be defending its publication only goes to show how shallow, thick and slow they are.

“The cartoon was not an attack on the Ndebele people as a whole, but on a specific individual, Tshabangu,” you argue. King Lobengula does represent all the Ndebele people as he was their King and therefore casing him in any demeaning role will demean all those who called him their King.

The least anyone can do is apologise for the blunder. The smart Alec denial that the demeaning was “on a specific individual” is no different from one calling out “bastard” whilst looking fixedly at a tree and insist he was insulting the tree! And even kick the tree for good measure!

He looks away as your father brutally batters your mother and does not appear to give a hoot when his family goes without decent nutritional food.

Yet, the 'dear friend' never hesitates buying your father liters of alcohol, books him into lodges to enjoy with his secret lover, and dresses him with the latest exquisite attire.

In all this, he is not willing to (as he simply does not care) help when you cry out for desperately-needed school fees or money to procure urgent medical attention for your severely sick mother.”

You have captured the essence of Chinese foreign policy in Zimbabwe: the Chinese will bend over backwards to keep Zanu PF in power at all cost because, thanks to Zanu PF corruption and incompetence, the Chinese have the licence to loot Zimbabwe’s wealth. We in Zimbabwe have participated in flawed and illegal elections for 43 years and counting expecting the opposition to win. Chamisa claimed that he had plugged all vote rigging loop holes and many of us believed it. If that is not insanity then, I do not know what is!

Will I be insulted is some one called me insane for participating in flawed elections for 43 years expecting a different result especially if I have been warned it is foolish to do so and why? Of course, NOT! Indeed, refusal to see the sheer insanity of it all is itself proof of not only my insanity in the past but that I am still sick in the head!
