Chamisa made lots of mistakes; he is trying." Participating in flawed election out of greed and lying about is NOT a mistake. Trying what? W Mukori

Zimbabweans love burying their heads in the sand and see and hear only what they want to see and hear - even in the face of a mountain of evidence saying otherwise. There is a dear price to be paid for such foolishness and we have and are paying for it!

“Chamisa has done a lot of great things, like his remarkable showings in 2018 and 2023 against a formidable Zanu-PF machinery, backed by the state and millions of dollars, which gave the country hope for change. That is why he remains the main authentic voice of the opposition and plausible alternative. Everything else is wishful thinking - at least for now,” Newshawk/ Bulawayo 24 reported.

Newshawk has written many very informative contributions to the economic and political discourse in Zimbabwe; this article is completely off the mark!

Zanu PF would have lost the elections to a troop of monkeys years ago if the elections were free, fair and credible and the monkeys were the only alternative to Zanu PF. For such has been the nation’s desperate desire for change.

Zanu PF has managed to stay in power all these years only because the party has retained its carte blanche power to rig elections.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked livelihoods, limb and even lives to elect MDC/CCC leaders into office for the primary purpose of implementing the necessary democratic reforms to restore the people’ freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, Nelson Chamisa and company have failed to implement even one token democratic change. Not one!

Worst of all, ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. What is more the opposition leaders themselves have known this all along.

“Look, you can't keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections. So it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimising these sham elections which don't deliver,” said Tendai Biti in a 2015 interview with Isaac Mugabi.

“So you can't continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”

David Coltart went one step more and revealed the reason why the opposition were hell bent on participating in these flawed elections to perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

So the opposition leaders could not withdraw from the flawed elections even when it was clearly the only rational thing to do because they “feared the others would remain and win the (gravy train) seats”. Greed!

When Chamisa was asked repeatedly why MDC A was participating in the 2018 elections when ZEC had failed to produce something as basic for elections as a verified voters’ roll. “MDC A has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.” he answered.

Fast forward to 2023, when he was asked the same searching questions he claimed that he had “plugged all the vote rigging loop holes”.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2018 and 2023 elections, as we all know, Chamisa was lying to hide the real reason why he and his friends were participating in these flawed elections “no matter what” was greed.

It is therefore shocking that the article singled out Chamisa’s treasonous participation in the flawed 2018 and 2023 elections as one of Chamisa’s “great things” achievements!

“Yet he has made a lot of mistakes. The main reason is that he is trying,” the article argued, with name one of these acknowledged mistakes.

Well failing to implement even one democratic reform in five long years was NOT a mistake. And his continued participation in these flawed elections out of greed and then lying to hide his greed shows he has not learned much less repented from his treasonous betrayal.

Zimbabweans have knack for burying our heads in the sand so we see only what we want to see even in the face of a mountain of evidence proving otherwise. In 1980s and early 1990s many Zimbabweans would bend over backwards to blame ministers around Robert Mugabe for the country’s worsen economic and political situation. They would not accept that Mugabe himself was to blame even when he was the one appointing and keeping these incompetent and corrupt ministers.

It took nearly 20 years before the nation finally accepted that Mugabe himself was a corrupt and ruthless dictator but it was too late because by then de facto one party dictatorship was deeply entrenched in Zimbabwe society. Up rooting it was never going to be a walk in the park and certainly not with these corrupt and incompetent CCC leaders.

Zimbabwe is seemingly stuck with this Zanu PF dictatorship not because the party is “formidable” but because the opposition has turned out to be corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. Chamisa and company have failed to implement even one democratic reform in 23 years especially during the GNU when they had the trump cards, it is naive, to say the least, to expect them to do so not when Zanu PF holds all the trump cards.

Chamisa and his CCC friends are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent showering them with praise will not change that reality and more significantly, will not get the country out of this hell-on-earth Zanu PF landed us in. We need competent opposition leaders who will implement the democratic reforms Chamisa et al are not up to the task!

  1. If many of Zimbabwe's intellectuals have no clue what the reforms are let allow that the primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections; what hope is there that my Auntie in the rural back water would know these things!!!!!!!!

No wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state and, at this rate, doomed! And rightly so too!

You still don't get it is and, no doubt, never will! You are not the only one hence the reason I said "many of Zimbabwe's intellectuals have no clue what the reforms are let alone that the primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement the democratic reforms”.

Even after 43 years of rigged election and 23 years of the opposition failing to implement even one reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections; you still have no clue what is going on. None! And, no doubt, you even consider yourself one are one of the country’s creme de la creme!

“Why STOP Chamisa to do his own thing? Has another opposition been stopped to fight ZANU misrule/oppression?”

It is not so much that Chamisa, per se, is stopping another opposition implementing the reforms because after 23 years he and his CCC friends have clearly failed. It is the Zimbabweans themselves who have given him and his friends a blank cheque to do as they please.

If even the country’s so called intellectuals, creme de la creme, are so dump and stupid not to see that failing to implement reforms in five years was NOT a mistake; you cannot expect my Auntie in the rural back waters to know any better. Chamisa and company are clearly taking advantage of the stupidity of the electorate just as Zanu PF is taking full advantage of the in fighting in CCC from the Tshabangu recalls.

CCC will never implement even one reform and deliver free and fair elections, if they failed to do so during the GNU it is naive to expect them to do so now. But of course Chamisa will happily accept being let off the hook by totally unfounded claims the he is trying. Trying what exactly, no one dares to ask because we all know that too is just another wishful thinking!

“My brother you were alive and kicking when GNU was formed, u didn’t even contribute anything towards this implementation of reforms. For 23 years were u tongue tied to say anything???

Today u are pointing fingers to other people remember the other 4 fingers are pointing back at you. You are also to blame for not pushing reforms as you are doing today.

Bring some constructive criticism on the table totangira ipapo. Vakuru vakati “Dai “ kufunga kwebenzi coz yesterday is gone. Same statement Dai is not taking us anywhere. Please brother let’s move forward!!!!”

Well, firing from the hip and thus proving once again what I said, “many of Zimbabwe's intellectuals have no clue what the reforms are let allow that the primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement the democratic reforms.” Even now with the benefit of 10 years post GNU, you still have no clue what was going on and many out there look up to you as an intellectual, creme de la creme!

If you knew what you are wittering about then you would know that SADC leaders, especially SA’s Minister Lindiwe Zulu, nagged MDC leaders to implement the reforms throughout the GNU years and they were ignored. It was not a matter of MDC leaders did not know they must implement reforms just as them not knowing that they should not participate in flawed elections. They knew all that but ignored it because they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. Why is that so difficult for you to comprehend?

So you think the nation is moving forward with the same corrupt and incompetent individuals who sold out in charge of implementing reforms? You really are thick, shallow and slow! Poor, poor Zimbabwe, we really are doomed to remain a failed nation.

Landed safely in the emirate of Dubai.

There is nothing new that I can tell you about Dubai that we haven’t said here except to say that Dubai’s Emirates airline had 2 planes in 1985 which it borrowed from Pakistan Airlines.

In 1980 Zimbabwe had 21 commercial planes inherited from the colonial Government.

Today Emirates has 260 wide board aircraft and is the largest Airbus A380 operator with 119 Airbus A380s.
Emirates is also the world's largest Boeing 777 operator with 134 aircraft in service.

Zimbabwe only has ONE commercial aircraft flying at Air Zimbabwe which was bought in 1987.

Air Zimbabwe is a case study of how not to run a business, it was destroyed right before our eyes through corruption and incompetence.”

Note, according to the Al Jazeera Gold Mafia documentary 80% of Zimbabwe’s US$2 billion per year gold is smuggled out of the country and most of it ending up in Dubai and other Middle East nations. And guess who is playing a leading role in the smuggling? You will never guess! Number one, of course, Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa himself. He has just rigged Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections, with the help of the opposition who participated in the flawed elections for their reward of a few gravy train seats, so that the looting can continue uninterrupted.

Of course, we are a cursed nation, we cursed ourselves! Even after 43 years of independence, in this day and age, we are still failing to hold free, fair and credible elections. Indeed, many intellectuals, the creme de la creme of the nation, do not even know what constitute free elections.

  7. Zimbabwe had many opportunities to implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship with the best chances coming during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The whole world was shocked when MDC failed to implement even one reform in 5 years of the GNU. MDC/CCC's participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed was the last straw!

SADC leaders have decided to do nothing about Zanu PF rigging the 2023 elections even though the regional body's own election observers condemned the elections as a sham. And now the Commonwealth is set to readmit Zimbabwe regardless of the rigged elections.

With CCC openly advocating to win rigged elections SADC and Commonwealth have lowered the bar for free election and fair elections. Zanu PF has won and we can kiss goodbye to the dream of Zimbabwe holding its first ever free, fair and credible elections!

  8. Ncube said in an interview with Standard Southern Eye that there was a deliberate plot to twist the truth on goings-on in the party for political expediency.

"I don't really mind the abuse and insults," he said. "I seek no accolades from charlatans who think truth does not matter.

"We can never build an enduring democratic alternative based on deceit, incessant lies, autocracy and deception."

Also last week, Ncube was accused of funding a plot to have a snap CCC elective congress to oust party leader, Nelson Chamisa.

According to the reports, a meeting was held in Bulawayo and was attended by suspected Ncube allies to plot the congress.

United States-based Zimbabwean political activist and technology entrepreneur, Freeman Chari stepped in to defend Ncube and how he played a major role ahead of the disputed August elections to ensure the party deployed polling agents across Matebeleland.

"I am really not happy with the way you guys are treating Prof Ncube," Chari responded on X.

"For what it's worth, when we were stuck distributing ‘adopt polling station money' with only 48 hours before election, he stepped up and in 24 hours, all Matebeleland North, South and Bulawayo were done, something Mashonaland failed.”

When CCC was launched in January 2022, it was heralded as the new kid on the block totally different from the various political parties in Zimbabwe’s history dating back to the formation of Zapu 62 years ago in 1961 it it suffered its amoeba division before it was even two years old with the formation of Zanu in 1963.

Most of the CCC leaders were recycled deadwood from the MDC launched in 1999 by Morgan Tsvangirai. The party’s then Secretary General, Professor Welshman Ncube, broke away from MDC to form his own party in 2005. There have been more amoeba divisions and mergers and new divisions, etc.

If anyone thought the new kid on the block, CCC, did not any of the design, build, commission and operate problems that had dogged Zapu, etc.; well time has proven them wrong. Zapu and Zanu have been dogged by their own problems but the core has by and large remained. It clear CCC is breaking up before the party is even two years old.

Well there is one design fault that runs through all these political parties; the members are held together by their greed for power and wealth when they should be held together by something more substantial like truth, freedom, justice and rule of law.

Mnangagwa, just like Mugabe before him, has managed to stop Zanu PF factional fighting becoming an all out war because he has used state power and resources to buy loyalty. Chamisa, just like Tsvangirai before him, had no such luck and his sand castle was never going to last, particularly when with Zanu PF leaders offering more to his members than he could ever offer them!

It is not the narrative of the failure to implement reforms and participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy per se you should be concerned about but the consequences of these treasonous betrayals. We are stuck with Zanu PF because MDC sold out! So all you have heard is the narrative and have failed to comprehend the consequences. How tragic!

Well my duty to the millions of ordinary Zimbabweans at the coal face of this failed state is to state why Zimbabwe is a failed state - MDC sold out on reforms - and state the way out - implement the reforms. I owe more to the suffering masses than to sparing you the blushes from hearing that the man, Nelson Chamisa, you consider an infallible demigod is not only a mere mortal but a corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless one.

Of course, it is tragic that the nation has sunk to these sorry state and all because we have some shallow, thick and slow individuals who brains have ossified into fat, impermeable to reason. How any human being even with half a brain can be conned into believing such idiotic lies like I have plugged all the vote rigging loop holes beggars belief. Our greatest curse is that these nincompoops have the vote and their participation in the flawed elections gave SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy!

  10. Those who are in public office MUST be accountable to the people. Chamisa and company have been in public office for 23 years including 5 in the GNU, they MUST account for their failure to implement even one reform. Whether you, me or anyone else form our own political party or not is irrelevant; those in public office MUST be accountable to the nation.

You do not want to see Chamisa held to account and so you dismiss those who dare hold him to account as talking nonsense. Those who think leaders are not accountable are the ones talking nonsense.

The nation has put up with the nonsense from the likes of Mutsvangwa and Charamba who have claimed that Zanu PF cannot be held to account because it is the party that fought the liberation war. And now we are being subjected to similar abuse because Chamisa is “in the trench”, he is “an infallible demigod”, etc. Well bulls***t! You can repeat that nonsense at your CCC rallies but not here!

Here everyone, absolutely everyone in public office is accountable - that is not negotiable!

  11. In the side-splitting video, Chamisa, played by a remarkably convincing impersonator, is seen enthusiastically explaining, "You see, strategic ambiguity means nobody really knows what's the strategy is, but everyone pretends they do, and it sounds impressive." He goes on to confess that even he and his spokesperson, Gift Ostallos Siziva, often find themselves scratching their heads over the party's strategy, but hey, it's the one that works!

Chamisa, with a twinkle in his eye, elaborates on the brilliance of keeping everyone in the dark: "Confusion is the key to success. Sometimes it confuses me, sometimes it confuses Ostallos, but most importantly, it confuses our political opponents. They never see it coming!”

The truth is Chamisa had no plan and so he pretended he had a plan so secretive he did not know it himself nor did Ostallos. Not knowing the plan did not dissuade the two talking about it and, of course, if you talk about something that does not even exist you are bout to say a lot of nonsense and, as we all know, nonsense is the twin sister of confession and chaos is the mother.

Let us just say the imaginary plan has worked because it let both Chamisa, Ostallos and the CCC wildebeest herd thoroughly confessed and they did not see chaos in the form of Sengezo Tshabangu coming. Chamisa had to burn the midnight oil to produce the three page CCC constitution and pretended it was there all along as part of the secretive plan; the Courts were not so easily fooled and believed Tshabangu’s narrative as the more plausible.

Tshabangu has caused chaos, confusion and destruction it is no exaggeration to call him hurricane Sengezo. Ostallos escape the first recall but not the second. And satellite images shows that it not done yet, it is turning right back for another go!

One thing is certain no one in CCC; not Chamisa, Ostallos or the herd; can pretend that they still do not know who Sengezo Tshabangu is now; the recalls are real and so is he!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Chamisa did not have a plan (nothing new there) when he launched CCC, he pretended that he had a plan and called it "strategic ambiguity". It is easy to see why he said nonsense about the plan because it is impossible to talk sense about something that is not even there. Where there is nonsense there too is her twin sister confusion and the mother, chaos.

Chamisa and none in the CCC wildebeest herd saw chaos coming in the form of Sebgezo Tshabangu. They pretended not to know him but the recalls were real and they all know him now! And he is not done yet!

Village heads and Chiefs have been the immediate proxy of the oppressive regime since the colonial days and more so in independent Zimbabwe. ⚫Increased allowances; &

⚫ Privileges to stay in hotels with their spouses.

CCC MPs are being asked by their supporters to withdraw from Parliament. Will they leave all these benefits?

CCC leaders participated in the flawed elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging and that participating will give Zanu PF legitimacy. Still they participated because they also knew that Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate no matter how flawed the election process got.

Of course, the CCC MPs will never refuse these privileges and perks. What they will do is refuse one or two of the perks and make a big song and dance about it for cheap publicity. David Coltart refused a mayoral limo and his popularity rating shot through the roof!

Whatever Coltart lost by giving up the mayoral limo he is more than making up for it in globe-trotting and many other ways! He has only been mayor for two months and already he has clocked more air-miles than many in a similar post have done in a year.

The same naive and gullible public would not be so doting if they understood Zimbabwe is a failed state because Coltart and company sold out by not only failing to implement reforms but by participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed!

  15. C failed 23 years how about Zanu?”

Common sense is not so common especially in Zimbabwe! If you had any common sense you would not be asking such a stupid question?

By the late 1990s it was clear to the people of Zimbabwe that Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies were corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who we drawing the nation deeper and deeper into economic and political hell-on-earth. The nation was also aware that as long as Zanu PF was able to rig elections the regime will remain in power and, just as important, that Zanu PF will never reform itself out of office.

What the nation needed was to elect leaders who will implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends launched their party in 1999 promising that if elected they would bring about the democratic changes the nation was dying for. The people of Zimbabwe have risked life, limb and livelihoods to elect these MDC/CCC these last 23 years.

Zanu PF has been in power for 43 years and has just added another 5 more years because the party rigged the 23 August 2023 elections. Zanu PF would not still be in power if MDC/CCC had implemented the democratic reforms. Zanu PF’s long stay in power is the result of MDC/CCC selling out this is why it is stupid to be asking how long Zanu PF has been in power!

After 23 years it is clear that MDC/CCC will never implement any reforms and so to end Zanu PF rule we must focus on getting the opposition that will implement the reforms. This is obvious to anyone but the likes of you, it is a mystery!

Here is someone who has just blatantly rigged the elections; even AU, SADC and our own ZHRC had no choice but to condemn the 23 August 2023 elections as a farce; and thus confirming that Zimbabwe is indeed a pariah state ruled by corrupt and vote rigging thugs. “It is likely that a "pariah" state is the best position to be in at this time in history.

This statement assumes that such terminology is determined from and applied by legitimate, democratically derived institutions that reflect the interests and values of the majority of the world's peoples. If we remove this erroneous assumption, we can easily come to the realisation that such designations are themselves tools to impose a dictatorship of the international class of multi-billionaires who coordinate corporate and governmental policies designed to strip states like Zimbabwe of their ability to act in the interests of its own people.

Every state (Egypt, Venezuela, Bolivia, China, Cuba, Russia, Ghana, Ethiopia, Guinea, Mali, Congo, Angola, and many others) that has attempted to nationalise their own resources to protect them from imperialist plunder, have been attacked by these international interests.”

So denying the ordinary people their freedoms and rights including a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even their right to life is now being justified on the grounds of “protecting the nation’s resources from the plunder of the imperialists”. The country’s resources are being plundered right now by the Chinese and other foreigners worse than during colonial rule!

Blacks’ ice cold indifference to the suffering and deaths of one of their own is the damnedest testimonial to accusation blacks are incapable of self governing. Blacks have again and again clamour for freedom, justice, liberty and progress and yet again and again they have failed to deliver any of these things when they found themselves in positions of power and authority because the primeval call to dominate, to eat or be eaten, survival of the greediest always kick in and all pretence of rational thinking is throw out.

You can take out some people out of the ghetto but can never take the “me, here and now” ghetto mentality out of them. We spend two generations fighting to end white colonial oppression only to inherit black tyrannical oppression. We have failed to end Zanu PF dictatorship these last 23 years because those entrusted to implement the reforms are now but Zanu PF’s junior partners!

So you believe the 23 August election were free, fair and credible and the West is lying saying otherwise. And you think the ordinary Zimbabweans agree with you or their democratic and free voice is not important!

Well let me say it again, all those holding public office are accountable and Chamisa is accountable for selling out and failing to stop Zanu PF rigging elections in 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU. I do not need to produce an alternative plan to question Chamisa’s hare-brain plans.

You were clearly foolish to believe in these hare-brain plans and are seeking some solace in silencing me. “Your inferiority complex causes you to ignore what whites do so you can blame blacks for white people's plots and actions.”

The views I express here are mine just as those you express are your. You insist in attributing my views and yours to whites, the country’s economic meltdown you blame the whites you even blame the West for Zanu PF rigging the 2023 elections! Your black inferiority complex is an obsession! As much as you hate the white you are seemingly incapable of thinking for yourself!

“I am simply incapable of hating, bitterness, or holding a grudge.

What I write or say is all out of holding our leaders to account and making them answerable to the people.

It is the only way to get good results from them.

    It is never personal.

We need to mature in our politics as Zimbabweans.

The first thing we need to appreciate is that criticizing a leader is not some form of hatred or animosity.

That is how other countries managed to develop: by relentlessly and fearlessly holding their leaders to account, even if he is from the same political party.

That is why, last year alone, the UK Conservative Party recalled two Prime Ministers (Boris Johnson and Liz Truss), thereby forcing them into resignation.”
It was the great Greek philosopher Socrates, 2 500 years ago, who said “Strong minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, weak minds discuss people.” Our political discussion is anchored on the individual and if it ever rises to event it very rarely stay there for more than a few seconds.

To many Zimbabweans the political debate is about comparing Chamisa and Mnangagwa, which one is better than the other. So the companion is all focused on the individual.

The idea based discussion should start by defining the task in hand; in this case the number one task is implementing the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. This is what the demand for democratic changes has been all about.

As far back as the late 1990s the people of Zimbabwe had already come to the conclusion that Zanu PF will never reform itself out of office. And so Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF party can be ruled out of ever implementing the reforms.

Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friend laughed their party in 1999 on the promise that they would implement the democratic reforms the nation was dying for. Zimbabweans have risked livelihoods, life and limb to elect MDC/CCC into power.

After 23 years including 5 in the GNU it makes sense to ask why Zanu PF is still able to rig elections as we all saw happen this August! The answer is MDC/CCC leaders have not only failed to implement reforms but have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship.

So the task based analysis should that Zanu PF will never reform itself out of office but CCC is not much use to us either since the party is now participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. Conclusion is we need to appoint competent opposition leaders who will implement the reforms.

It has taken 23 years to arise at the conclusion that CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent and will never deliver the reforms and free elections because our discussions has been at a personal level. Chamisa is better than Mnangagwa at a personal level but what good is that to us if Chamisa has clearly failed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

Socrates was right to say democracy will only work if the people are educated and clearly an electorate whose level of intellectual comprehension is anchored at the personal level are a curse to democracy! They cannot be trusted to make the right choices much less hold the leaders to democratic account. Indeed, in Zimbabwe holding a leader to account is very risky business because there are overzealous party supporters who take that as a very personal insult against their leader!
