One of my favourite stories from the Bible is the parable of the prodigal son. Here is a story teaching us three things:
- sin of arrogance and greed
- the importance of admitting one’s weaknesses, humility and repentance
- the father’s forgiveness and joy at the repentant sinner
For someone who calls himself a pastor, a man of God, and always quoting from the Bible, I must admit I am disappointed with Nelson Chamisa. I think he is a con man masquerading as a man of God!

Lest anyone out there has forgotten, this time last year as the fever of the 2023 election grew Chamisa said repeatedly. “CCC will win big because I have plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!”
We all know Zanu PF blatantly rigged those elections and both SADC and AU election observer teams have confirmed the election process was flawed and illegal. So flawed the process failed to meet Zimbabwe’s own electoral law requirements.
“Conclusion 13.3
The SEOM (SADC Election Observer Mission) noted that, as detailed in sections 6 and 7 of this report, some aspects of the Harmonised Elections fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021),” stated the SEOM report.
Chamisa failed to deploy electoral agents at all the polling stations even thou he had the funds to do so, for Pete’s sake! He pocketed the donated money!
It is not as if Chamisa and his CCC friends did not know that with no reforms implemented Zanu PF would rig the elections ant that the consequence of participating regardless would be to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the people’s suffering under the dictatorship . They have known all this since the 2013 elections!
“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.
So they have been participating in elections, “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw” out of greed. They knew Zanu PF would give away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate NO MATTER WHAT.
Chamisa insisted God was in the plan to participate in the 2023 elections. Surely God was NOT is a plan whose purpose was gratify the insatiable greed for the trappings of power for Chamisa and a few of his cronies at the expense of the millions now living in abject poverty under this Zanu PF dictatorship.
Chamisa has never ever admitted that he lied about plugging all the vote rigging loop holes, as far as I know. Worst of all, he has not only failed to acknowledge his wrong doing and repented; he is gearing to repeat the same blatant lies to con Zimbabweans to participate in the 2028.
Zimbabwe’s prodigal son is back home instead of asking for forgiveness he is demanding that he must have his brother’s share of the wealth! He is quoting Proverbs 2 verse 6 to back his demands! There is no wisdom in that nor is God in it!
The threat of Chamisa conning millions of Zimbabweans into participating in flawed 2028 elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating the dictatorship is real and it is incumbent on every thinking Zimbabwean to stop him taking advantage of people foolish enough to believe his lies.
Yes, we have some of the most ignorant, naive and gullible people on earth but that is no excuse for people like Chamisa to take advantage of these people, much less do so in the name of God!

ReplyDeleteThe criteria for quality opposition leaders should not be limited to “commenting of corruption and other social ills”. There are people like Fadzayi Mahere who are quick to comment only for sake of attracting public attention. She has participated in these flawed elections since 2018 knowing full well the process is flawed and participating will give Zanu PF legitimacy.
Then there are those MDC/CCC leaders who were in the GNU and sold out on reforms. Others Kasukuwere have been critical of Zanu PF only after they were booted out of the party in 2017, until then they had played their part in creating the dictatorship.
Zimbabwe is a failed state ruled by Zanu PF buffoons who have remained in power the last 24 yers thanks to the corrupt and incompetent opposition and the ignorant and naive electorate. We need the electorate to be a lot smart than to judge future leaders on the individual’s social media profile alone. The real world is a lot more sophisticated than the binary choice of Chamisa vs Mnangagwa, for example.
Our pastors and politicians alike have taken advantage of our people being ignorant, naive and gullible. All the former wanted to do is fleece the people and all the later wanted is the herd’s votes!

Minister of Defence, Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri's daughter being arrested for fraud is a big surprise not so much that she may well have a case to answer - she, like so many others in the ruling elite, certainly cannot account for her lavish lifestyle. The surprise is that she is being singled out! A classical case of being invited to the feast and being forked in the eye when you least expect it.
To end the failed state, we must restore the rule of law starting with holding free and fair elections; starting with stopping participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating our own suffering.
Will my stopping talking about rigged election do anything to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections or Chamisa and company participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy. The rigging and conniving in the rigging has gone on these last 44 years and 24 years respectively precisely because we have been silent for decades.

HARARE - Speaking to eNCA News, the ZANU PF Director of Information and Publicity Cde Farai Marapira advised the opposition that our national constituion is sacrosanct and any activity which attempts to undermine the rule of law within our country shall not be tolerated.

This is to be expected, so Zanu PF is now religiously upholding the constitution and rule of law and yet failed to do so during the elections last year when doing so mattered the most! Our friends in SADC know that Zanu PF rigged the 2023 elections and is, per se, an illegitimate regime. MDC leaders did not implement even one token reforms during the GNU because Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office and the forgot about the reforms. There were no 39 other political parties to worry about then.
Mnangagwa has increase the gravy train benefits including the POLAD benefits to all presidential candidate and US$ 40 000 paid to all the MPs and senators in November 2022; knowing fully well that would whet the opposition leaders’ appetites. So you think Chamisa and company were so hell bent on participating in these elections, he blatantly lied again and again to con people to participate, just to stop the other 39 parties winning just for the hell of it! They were after the gravy train seats themselves!
The issue here is not how many opposition political parties participate in these flawed elections but how many ordinary people participate too. If Chamisa’s supporters had boycotted the 2023 elections then 44% or 2 out of of the 5 million voters would have stayed away. Of course, this would have given SADC the courage to deny Zanu PF legitimacy given the electoral process was flawed and illegal.
You and the 2 million who voted for Chamisa plus the millions of other who cheered and applauded participated in the flawed elections because you believed Chamisa’s blatant lies of plugging the vote rigging loop holes. You did not have the intellect to see he was lying, even now with the benefit of hindsight you still cannot see you were conned.

1) zero tolerance on corruption
2) hold free, fair and credible elections
He has failed to hold free and fair elections and last year even SADC and AU condemned the Zimbabwe elections as flawed and illegal. It comes as no surprise that he has failed to stamp out corruption too; as long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by thugs who are democratically unaccountable it is naive to think we can stamp out corruption, mismanagement and lawlessness.
Corruption has become worse since the 2017 coup, the nation is being rob blind. This madness must be stopped. We must step up the demand for democratic reforms and free and fair elections.

ReplyDeleteIt is a big mistake for Zimbabweans to compare ourselves with Kenya's Gen Z; the later is political awake whilst we are still in our sloth like political slumber. MDC/CCC are Zanu PF team B in all but name, playing for team A to win and have political legitimacy for a share of the spoils of power. And then you hear some buffoon insist Zimbabwe is on course to become an upper middle income nation in 6 years from now, in 2030. It is no surprise the buffoon rigged the 2023 elections or be it with the tacit connivance of CCC leaders who lied to con the people to participate.
