"Even if the opposition (CCC) were to be allowed to win and take power, they don't have a capacity to run a government,” predicted Professor Ibbo Mandaza when he gave his public lecture at O R Tambo School of leadership, SA last week.
"I asked Chamisa very bluntly that if you won how many can be members of the cabinet in your group, he could not count 10."
MDC had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The very fact that they failed to implement even one token reform spoke volumes of the party leaders’ greed and incompetence. The very fact that the party’s supporters, the wildebeest herd, have remained doggedly loyal to the leaders has itself also spoken volumes of the sheer ignorance and naivety of the herd.
Even now with the benefit of hindsight, most CCC faithful have no clue what the democratic reforms are. They have repeatedly called for change in their slogans without knowing what these changes are much less how they would be implemented. And so when MDC leaders sold out by failing to get even one token reform implemented these last 23 years, including the 5 years in the GNU; it was all water off a duck’s back for the herd.
How can the herd be angry with MDC/CCC leaders for failing to implement reforms when the no one in the herd knew what the reforms are much less their critical importance in the nation’s fight to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and the failed state.
The SADC and AU election observers have condemned Zimbabwe’s 23 August 2023 elections as a sham. This has created the opportunity for Zimbabwe to either have fresh elections, in three or six months supervised by SADC and UN. This is what Chamisa and his CCC friend have been calling for. The herd will always go with whatever the party leaders want.
The herd can best be compare to Boxer, the horse in George Orwell’s Animal Farm, “Napoleon is always right!” motto. Boxer could not think for himself and so entrusted all the thinking to Napoleon. The herd’s Chamisa Chete! Chete! mentality means they will be pushing SADC for fresh elections.
Professor Ibbo Mandaza observation that Chamisa failed to name just 10 cabinet material from those around him, will have no effect on the herd.
Even if Chamisa could scrap the bottom of the barrow and find enough to appoint as ministers, this is only the half to it. The biggest problem with the nation rushing into holding fresh elections is that no meaningful reforms will be implemented. We will just be kicked the can down the street, whatever cause the curse of rigged elections will resurface again in the future.
Even if the herd can be talked into accepting the need for National Transition Authority (NTA) whose primary task will be to implement the reforms. The herd would want Chamisa and his CCC friends to play a significant role in the NTA. Zanu PF would be watching with the greatest interest because the party would demand a comparable role in the NTA for itself.
The NTA must implement ALL the democratic reforms without failure. The presence of both CCC and Zanu PF leaders in the NTA will only be to undermine the chance of Authority delivering on its set task. Both Zanu PF and CCC leaders are blame for Zimbabwe’s failure to hold free, fair and credible elections these last 43 and 23 years respectively. They are the problem; not the solution.
There is a mountain of evidence to prove Chamisa and his CCC friends are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent.
The nation does not need Professor Mandaza to remind us Chamisa “does not have the capacity to run a government.” They blundering incompetence with which CCC handled themselves in these August 2023 elections should have set alarm bells ringing in every Zimbabwean’s head. There are no alarm bells ringing!
The A1 democratic reforms that competent and uncompromised NTA would implement a.s.a.p. would reforms to ensure freedom of expression and a free media. Even if the NTA was to deliver a healthy and functioning democratic system for the country, it would not survive for long as long as we have an ignorant and naive electorate.

ReplyDelete“The same script was being played by our own Bishop Abel Tendekai Muzorewa in Rhodesia. Pretending to be holding an anointed scepter, roaming around the four corners of Zimbabwe, from East to West, from the South to the North, he was publicly denouncing the incarceration of the nationalist leaders, but privately he was telling the Rhodesian kingpin, Ian Douglas Smith, not to dare release Joshua Nkomo, Robert Mugabe and other nationalist leaders as they were terrorists and a danger to national security.
The character of someone is measured by facing up to swelling difficult situation. Let it be known that I am a man who would never ever breakdown even under the most trying circumstances. Martin Luther King Jnr taught me, “if a man hasn’t found something he will die for, he isn’t fit to live”.
Under the barrage of attack from your immortal enemies, never be surprised that when you look behind, you will realise that you are by yourself and those who attempt to stand in solidarity with you come under attack, blackmail and humiliation, from the angels of the daytime but profound witches of the night.
Only true friends and strong characters remain steadfast with you, while opportunists melt like morning dews.
That’s the character of an insincere struggle. Those who were attacked and humiliated in my name, let me reassure you, that you have found a special place in my heart.”
What I would like to know from Job Sikhala is his comment on what David Coltart said about participating in these flawed elections .
“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.
Now that he has had time to reflect on this and many other matters; does he agree that MDC/CCC leaders have been participating in these flawed elections out of greed?
Mandaza, speaking at a recent public lecture in South Africa, argued that the delayed delivery of voting materials in Harare and Bulawayo was deliberate and aimed at disenfranchising opposition supporters, particularly in Harare, which accounts for a third of the country's registered voters.
ReplyDeleteHe stated, "The security operation included the deployment of Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) and a calculated delay in the supply of ballot papers in Harare and Bulawayo on polling day, with many polling stations receiving them well into the night of August 23 and even the following day."
Mandaza added, "We are now learning that the rigging was done mostly in CCC strongholds, precisely in the areas where CCC won is where the rigging was done most. Smart guys.”
It is very generous to call the Zanu PF blatant vote rigging in the 23 August 2023 elections “smart”! If it was smart then one would have expected some sophisticated cover up; there was none! If SADC and AU had done the usual thing of turning a blind eye to the blatant cheating and wanton intimidation and violence Zanu PF would have got away with it again for the umpteenth time.
Zanu PF knew that the opposition would participate in these elections no matter hold flawed and illegal the process got as long as they were assured of winning a few gravy train seats and the POLAD freebies! With this kind of assurance one does not need to be smart!
Mnangagwa smart, yeah right! He is just a buffoon lucky enough to have village idiots for opponents!
The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) says they will be boycotting the official opening of the first session of the tenth parliament on Tuesday where President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to set the tone for laws to be handled by the House of Assembly.
ReplyDeleteCCC spokesperson, Promise Mkhwananzi, said, "We are boycotting the processes that Mnangagwa wants us to undertake tomorrow on the basis of the fact that we as CCC do not recognise an election that put him there.
"The election was a shame, it did not go well.
"It fell abysmally short of the expected standards of a free and fair election in terms of the laws of Zimbabwe as well as in terms of SADC and AU protocols on free and fair elections.
"Accordingly, we are not attending that process. We want to send a clear message that there should be a free election in Zimbabwe under the auspices of SADC.
So CCC does not recognise the election process that put Mnangagwa and his fellow Zanu PF leaders in the presidency, parliament , etc. but they recognise the the same election that put the CCC leaders in parliament, council, etc.
CCC leaders knew all along that the electoral process was flawed and that participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy. They have participated all along regardless out of greed.
The people of Zimbabwe have risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders on the ticket they would implement the democratic reforms to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. After 23 years they have not only failed to implement even one reform but worst of all they have given up on reforms and have been keeping Zanu PF in office for a share of the spoils of power.
Chamisa and company are boycotting opening of parliament, forgone buying mayoral limos, etc. and made a big song and dance about it, to keep their wildebeest herd supporters happy. It is all a sugar coated pill for the herd. The reality is CCC have stopped running with the povo hare and are now hunting with the Zanu PF hounds in broad day!

Voltaire forgave him all injuries, intentional or unintentional. "What a fuss about an omelet!" he had exclaimed when he heard of the burning. How abominably unjust to persecute a man for such an airy trifle as that! "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it," was his attitude now.
ReplyDelete"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it," said Voltaire French Enlightenment writer and philosopher.
We, in Zimbabwe are generations away from such democratic enlightenment!
The idiots who grassed on Baba Tensen are incensed at him for stating the historic fact that Zanu PF rigged the elections contrary to Chamisa’s claim that CCC would “win big”. The idiots will never take Chamisa to task on his foolish claim that he had plugged all the vote rigging loop-holes!
MDC/CCC sold out on reforms and have been participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the suffering of ordinary Zimbabweans. All those who dare say this do so at the risk of being lynched by the brain dead morons!
THE controversial SADC Elections Observer Mission preliminary report was first edited by the European Union (EU) before it was publicly read by the now discredited Dr Nevers Mumba as if it was a product of the regional team observer mission when it was not, The Herald reported.
ReplyDeleteThis is just nonsense! Are you saying SADC observers are too stupid to notice the elections were a sham!
@ Jonathan Moyo
ReplyDelete“While CCC is well within its rights to boycott today's opening of the First Session of the 1Oth Parliament by Emmerson Mnangagwa, the boycott could in fact boomerang on CCC; and ultimately leave the party's role in Parliament eviscerated, as happened to the MDC-A in the last Parliament.
This is because CCC has no strategy behind its opportunistic boycott to make reform headway, beyond chasing news headlines of the day, which are certain to be overtaken by other headline events of subsequent days.
The boycott of presidential addresses to Parliament is a common opposition tactic around the world, even within the Sadc region. On their own, they're not anything to write home about.
In South Africa, for example, the EFF SouthAfrica has perfected the tactic as part of the go-to campaigns in its strategy box.”
The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC/CCC leaders into power on the promise they would bring about the necessary democratic changes to end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. After 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU, the party has not implemented even one token reform. Not even one!
Instead of implementing reforms MDC/CCC leaders have offered the people one political gimmick after another; boycotting opening of parliament, announcing they will not buy a new mayoral limo, etc., etc. and make a big song and dance about it. It must be said they have got away with all this grandstanding and posturing because the people themselves have no clue what is going on.
As much as povo wanted change, they have no clue what that change entailed and so MDC/CCC have delivered nothing and the people are none the wiser!
If we are serious about having a healthy and functioning democratic Zimbabwe then educating the people must be the number one democratic reform that must be carried out!
Mnangagwa opens new parliament and CCC boycott the opening: it is business as usual! Or is it?
ReplyDeleteSADC is yet to finalise on the SADC election report that condemned the elections. This Zanu PF government and its surrogate CCC opposition are illegitimate! They must go.
We want a National Transition Authority whose primary task will be to implement ALL the democratic reforms and deliver free, fair and credible elections.

ReplyDeleteYou have put up with MDC/CCC's failure to implement even one reform in 23 years and all that entail. And you are frothing because you do not want to hear that we must do something to end the insanity of rigged elections. It is really shocking how anyone can be so shallow, thick and slow!
Zimbabwe is a filed state because we have failed to hold free, fair and credible elections and that is the holy grill. We must implement the democratic reforms a.s.a.p. You don't want to hear your party leaders criticised and that is all you care about! They will be held to account - that is not negotiable!
ReplyDelete@ Shock
ReplyDelete“You only legitimise an election by signing . Kana CCC dai isina kupinda unofunga SADC yaizoita zvekumanikidza ccc here kuti ipinde? Vaingoita nana Mwonzora Madhuku Linda nana nhasingeni.
That was done to expose zanu to its rigging machinery and it worked perfectly well and SADC has weapons.”
This is just a fallacious argument.
If you accept that CCC did the nation a great favour by participating in these flawed elections, knowing the process is flawed, because they wanted SADC and AU election observers to uncover the flaws. Then you MUST also accept that MDC leaders did the nation a great favour by failing to implement even one reform during the GNU because they too wanted SADC and AU election observers to have flaws to uncover.
If MDC leaders had implemented the reforms Zimbabwe would have had free, fair and credible elections in 2013 and thereafter. Zimbabwe would be a healthy and functioning democracy, SADC and AU would have had no flaws and illegalities to report about - what a complete disaster for Zimbabwe, SADC and AU!!!!
Indeed, why stop with the GNU, go back further to the Gukurahundi massacre. Mugabe did the nation a great favour by carrying out the Gukurahundi massacre and imposing the de facto one party dictatorship because it too laid the foundation of the blatant rigging and wanton violence SADC and AU picked up in the 2023 election reports!

ReplyDeleteIt is an outrage that someone should even be threatened for expressing his/her views! The idiots who are angry that Zanu PF rigged the elections should be angry with Chamisa for lying that he had plugged all the vote rigging loop-holes when he had done nothing. They should be angry with themselves for being so gullible and naive to be so easily conned and not for the first time!
Of course, it is insane to believe CCC was going to win big the rigged elections, especially after 43 years of Zanu PF mafiosi rigging elections!
