“As I said last week, stealing elections through all manner of rigging before and after the polling day itself would have been ignored by the business and investor communities if Mnangagwa had appointed a craft competent cabinet,” argued Hopewell Chin’ono.
“That opportunity of salvaging any form of credibility is now gone through the window after Mnangagwa appointed the worst ever cabinet in Zimbabwe’s living memory.
“There are two types of legitimacy in global politics and business, there is Political and Performance legitimacy.
“Political legitimacy is derived from elections and Performance legitimacy is derived from a craft competent cabinet and administration.
“Countries like China and Qatar don’t even hold elections, but they cover up with Performance legitimacy.”
To expect Emmerson Mnangagwa to appoint “a craft competent cabinet and administration” would be unrealistic. He himself is not competent and I will be hard pressed to name one competent Zanu PF leader in the last 43 years. Just one!
Mnangagwa himself have proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he is corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless. He has held very senior government positions for the last 43 years for one main reason - he is a ruthless thugs whom Mugabe, a ruthless thugs himself, found very useful to establish and retain a de facto one party state.
Mugabe surrounded himself with buffoons like Mnangagwa who did not have any common sense much less political and business sense and Zimbabwe’s fate as a failed state was sealed. Mnangagwa has carried on from where Mugabe left off dragging the nation deeper and deeper into the economic and political abyss.
Zimbabwe has suffered the misfortune of the double whammy of a none perform regime and, to add insult to injury, was stuck with it. Zanu PF has rigged elections ever since the country’s independence in 1980, 43 year and counting of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and tyrannical oppression has all but destroyed the nation’s economy and democratic state institutions.
Before independence Zimbabwe was the bread-basket of the region. Mugabe seized the farms to give them to his Zanu PF cronies mostly. The last two decades Zimbabwe has relied on imported food aid every two or three years. The nation is starving in a country that is, for all practical purposes, the Garden of Eden. A damning testimonial is the failed Zanu PF leadership.
Zanu PF has corrupt the state institutions turning them into Zanu PF departments in all but name to serve the singular purpose of keeping Zanu PF in power at all cost. The political system has stifled debate and democratic discourse and competition it has been compared to a sewage pond where there should be clean water dam. It is no surprise country has no quality leaders both sides of the political divide, which explains the political paralysis. There is no quality fish in a sewage pond.
Zimbabwe had its golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms and dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The opportunity fall to Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends and they turned out to be corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless. Mugabe bribed them with the tapping of high office and the rest is history.
Zanu PF rigged the 23 August 2023 elections and SADC and AU election observers have condemned the elections denying Zanu PF political legitimacy, a departure from the usual practice of turning a blind eye to the rigging. The electoral crisis is going to be resolved by appointing a new GNU, similar to the one appointed in 2008 following an identical electoral problem.
The primary task of the last GNU was to implement the democratic reform to end the curse of rigged elections. This new GNU’s primary task will be to implement the reforms too only this time no stone will be left unturned to make sure all the reforms and fully implemented.
Zimbabwe’s only hope of crawling out of the economic and political hell-hole Zanu PF has landed the nation into is regime change followed implementing the democratic reforms designed to drain the political sewage pond.
We cannot expecting a buffoon like Mnangagwa to appoint “a craft competent cabinet and administration” that would be making the proverbial a silk purse from sow’s ear! It is cannot be done.
Zanu PF attack on Dr Mumba goes into overdrive. The SADC report remains and the new GNU is only viable option.
ReplyDeleteNew GNU's primary task must be to implement reforms.
https://www.facebook.com/4415858595176450/videos/837564857847527
A significant number of Zimbabweans affiliated with the opposition have submitted a petition to the Southern African Development Community (SADC), urging the organization to convene an extraordinary summit aimed at resolving the country's political impasse in the wake of last month's contested elections.
ReplyDeleteIt is one thing Zimbabwean going all out in support of the SADC and AU election report and calling for SADC's quick resolution of the matter. What is wrong is for any one of these Zimbabwean groups to even appear as if they are the ones who directed SADC and AU to write those reports and are the ones pulling the strings, demanding action.
Lest we forget, the 2008 to 2013 GNU was a SADC initiative and gave Zimbabwe the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms and end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. We, the people of Zimbabwe, wasted that opportunity by failing to get even one reform implemented. Instead of admitting our own failures some of the individuals who sold out have spend the last decade blaming SADC for the GNU’s failures.
This new GNU will give us a second chance to finally get the democratic reforms implemented we must not waste it by allowing the arrogant loud mouths but empty heads amongst us call the shots. We need SADC’s help in negotiating the way out of this mess.
We should be thankful to both SADC and AU for their election reports that got us start on this reform path; it was not CCC’s doing, let’s all be clear on that. We will need SADC’s help and guidance what happens next; we ask for it and listen respectfully. We are not going to arrogantly “demand” anything from SADC. If we were that smart we would not be in this mess in the first place!
“I have drawn the line in the sand, Mnangagwa must go! God is in it!” How many times have we heard this idiot make similar claims in the past and they have all came to naught!
ReplyDeleteZimbabwe is a failed state and now stands at the end of the precipitous abyss. We need sober and rational think now more than ever and no more of this idiotic nonsense!
Chamisa and his CCC friends have a litany of broken promises, lies, failures and treasonous betrayals which they have yet to accounted for. Zimbabwe is still stuck in this mess because MDC failed to implement even one democratic reform in 23 years.
Today Zimbabwe has hope of forcing this Zanu PF dictatorship to once again accept the need for the country to implement the democratic reforms and thus end this curse of rigged elections and bad governance. This opportunity was created by both SADC and AU condemning the 23 August 2023 elections as a farce. It is nonsensical that Chamisa should now not only want to claim credit for creating the opportunity but worst of all wants to call the shots.
Zimbabwe needs this new GNU to deliver the democratic reforms without failure. We need SADC and the international community’s help to do this. The last thing we need is distraction from Zanu PF or this upstart, Chamisa, grandstanding and yapping nonsense.
It is bad enough to have a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical regime it is another ball game if the regime can rig elections and so you are stuck with it.
ReplyDeleteZimbabwe has been stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship for 43 years and counting. No wonder we are a failed state!
https://www.zimeye.net/2023/09/15/incompetent-ed-cant-appoint-a-competent-cabinet/
I know, that is the confusion coming from Chamisa and company. What Zimbabwe needs is a new GNU or TA, call it what you want, that will implement the democratic reforms and put an end to the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. We must shut out the grandstanding and nonsense coming from CCC and affiliates!
ReplyDelete@ Changamire Dombo
ReplyDeleteI say this one more time. Rape is a very serious crime. Why don't you report the matter to the relevant authority. You have a duty to society to do so.
What you cannot do is make wild allegations against some one to blacken their name to silence and stifle debate because you disagree with what they have said. This is a dirty tactic that Zanu PF has used and idiots like you have copied. This is totally unacceptable and criminal.
“His statements are premised on conduct of free and fair elections which I'm sure Zimbabwe has never seen since the year 2000 or even earlier. He is only expressing his wish with a bit of threats just like a dog would bark at a fierce lion knowing very well the dangers and zero chances it has. Did you expect him to keep quiet and submit to his competitor?”
ReplyDeleteZimbabwe is in a serious mess and needs all the help we can get. The last thing we want to waste this opportunity because Zanu PF or CCC, the very people who got us into this mess, think they have the right to hold the nation hostage and everyone else must stand aside. Chamisa and company had failed to implement even one democratic reform in 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU, the upstart has been making one outrageous claim after another.
It would be totally irresponsible to let Chamisa and Zanu PF play a leading role in mapping the way forward, to appease them. They will be disruptive just as they have been disruptive in the past. The two are the problem and therefore cannot be the solution too!
@ Kahari
ReplyDelete“What happened to Tsvangirayi becz of that GNU? Those zanupf guys will not rest to destroy. Fresh elections is the way to go monitored by independent organs like Sadc,EU,UN and so on..no more Zec rubbish.”
What exactly "happened to Tsvangirai because of the GNU”?
So you want SADC to come and do ZEC's work? What about the captured judiciary, Police, chiefs, etc., who will stop them acting in Zanu PF's favour? After the election will the same ZEC take over? Are you going to have SADC , EU, etc. supervise the next elections too?
@ Godfrey
ReplyDelete“I personally think CCC played a major role in exposing Zanu shenanigans.
Their 2023 attempt at exposure was a marked improvement on 2018
Firstly their involvement and steadfast resolve and survival in the face of Zanu attacks irked and prompted Zanu to bring in controversial legislation and the usual unfair practice - that became their albatross in the eyes of SADC and others
Remove CCC and leave MDC and Polad - would we be even talking about a possible GNU.
Zanu has not changed its rigging modus operandi - all what happened in 2023 was a replay of the past - remember ‘The Short sleeve’ the Mashurugwi …. all these went away without international censure.”
You keep missing the point! The 2008 elections were the watershed elections in that Zanu PF was forced to blatantly cheat and then use wanton violence forcing both SADC and AU to deny Zanu PF political legitimacy. The primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement the reforms and thus end the cheating and wanton violence.
Why did MDC fail to implement even one token reform in 5 years of the GNU?
Why did MDC insist in participating in the flawed election in 2013 even after SADC had warned them not to?
Why did MDC/CCC persist and participate in the flawed elections in 2018 and 2023 knowing fully well doing so would give Zanu PF some modicum of legitimacy?
Why did CCC take up their gravy train seats even after SADC and AU had condemn the 2023 elections as a farce?
Answer any of these questions honestly and there is no way anyone can still conclude that CCC’s “major role was in exposing Zanu shenanigans”. David Coltart’s conclusion is clearly the more rational one- greed.
“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.
As I have said before, we have some people who consider political leaders as demigod who are infallible and must be worshiped. Admitting they failed is unthinkable and to admit they are sell outs and incompetent is sacrilege. They have made up their minds reason, evidence, facts, etc all count for nothing! And so it is utterly futile to reason with people like that!
Zimbabwe is a failed state not only because we have buffoons in power but also because we have some mentally challenged voters who are keeping them in power!
Zanu PF and CCC will demand major roles in the GNU, they have no legitimate grounds for making such demands since the August elections were flawed there were no legitimate winners.
ReplyDeleteAs the outgoing government, they were responsible for delivering free and fair elections, they failed us. To assign them any GNU roles is tantamount to rewarding them for failing the nation in this sacred task.
Both Zanu PF and CCC cannot be trusted to implement the democratic reforms; the very task they failed to carry out during the last GNU.

ReplyDelete“Sometime politics dzana Mukori dzine chi old age can't you see the year we are in... What happened in previous election won't work much this time, I believe when Chamisa said he had blocked the loopholes of rigging elections.. YES WHY.. Now the regime is in a tight situation because they where exposed by SADC.
That only can show the effort and strength of the citizens... Remember it's not easy to fight a stubborn government like Zanu which has been ruling for a long time and we as citizen we applaud the effort of our leader President Nelson Chamisa to oppose this illicit billimic behavior of the regime...
Nelson Chamisa has played a wonderful role throughout his political role it is so sad to hear people like Mukori barking behind the door as if he has solved anything in his country.. He ran away to UK for greener pastures and now we are being told about reforms as if he left them in Zim before London.. He indeed knows what's on ground and steps needed to be taken yet he is political bias.. I know you love politics Mukori but your daily report annoys and confuse”
The sheer nativity on display here is shocking, no wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state. We really have individuals whose intellectually ability is shallow they really should not have the vote. Alas! They have the vote!
MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the reforms and they failed to implement even one token reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Are you telling us this was calculated and deliberate to put “the regime in a tight situation to be exposed by SADC”? There is a mountain of evidence to show that MDC leaders did not implement any reforms during the GNU because Mugabe bribed them with the gravy train good-life they did not want to rock the boat.
When it was evident that no reforms were implemented during the GNU, SADC leaders begged MDC not to participate in the 2013 elections. MDC insisted in participating to put “the regime in a tight situation to be exposed by SADC.” Well SADC did NOT even bother because they granted Zanu PF legitimacy. David Coltart confessed in his Book that MDC leaders had participated out of greed, but what does he know!
Come 2018, MDC A once again insisted in participating in flawed elections to put “the regime in a tight situation to be exposed by SADC.” Well SADC did not expose Zanu PF rigging but the EU did. EU observers recommended 23 reforms. The CCC leaders who won the bait gravy train seats grabbed them and the party has done nothing to get even one EU reform recommendation implemented - no doubt for the same reason the party has never implement any reforms.
CCC participated in the 2023 elections with none of the EU reforms implemented knowing the process was flawed to, once again, to put “the regime in a tight situation to be exposed by SADC.” This time SADC and AU condemned the elections as a farce but even that did not stop CCC taking up their seats on gravy train.
Has it ever occurred to you that Zimbabwe, the whole nation, would have been better off if MDC/CCC leaders had implemented the reforms. Only a fool would want the dictatorship given legitimacy and their suffering perpetuated for the sake of putting “the regime in a tight situation so that SADC can expose the regime.” it!
Tendai Biti gave a similar idiotic excuse for selling out, “to protect zones of autonomy!”
Of the foolish argument to justify MDC/CCC’s treasonous betrayal of the nation - that takes the biscuit.
The truth is MDC/CCC leaders have sold on reforms for two reasons: greed and breath-taking incompetence!
@ Mukotekwa
ReplyDeleteEducating the brainwashed electorate is the single most important task in Zimbabwe today. When a nation has an electorate so naive and gullible they give up reforms and free elections because they believe Chamisa's lies of having winning in rigged elections strategies, even after 43 years of rigged elections, that say it all. Democracy demands a informed and vigilant electorate not a naive and ignorant one!
So you think MDC failed to implement even one reform in five years because they did not have "real power"? How naive? SADC was the guarantor of the Global Political Agreement, why did MDC leaders complain to SADC?
ReplyDeleteSADC leaders advised MDC leaders not to participate in the 2013 elections without reforms, why did they ignore the advice?
There is a mountain of evidence to prove that MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform because they are corrupt and breath-taking incompetent. Why some people refuse to open their eyes and minds and continue to be led by the nose like a bull at the market beggars belief.
@ Muza
ReplyDelete“But the fact that he is calling the change champion an idiot i can't just keep aloof.”
You fight back by proving I am wrong in saying MDC has failed to implement any meaningful reforms by naming the reforms they have implemented.
I have said Chamisa is lying that he has plugged all vote rigging loop holes the evidence on the ground proves I was right.
You do not fight back by dreaming up malicious stories and spreading them as facts just because you have lost an argument!
@Dombo
ReplyDelete“We don't tolerate nonsense Mr Simba, this Mukori must bring positive ideas than calling someone an Ediot.”
That is a feeble excuse for manufacturing malicious lies!
@ Musoni
ReplyDelete“Yes Simba it's wrong to insult each other on this platform but it's not also correct for you to show a bias. Mukori insulted people on this platform left, right and centre but you were quiet about it and today he is on the receiving end then you chip in to defend him. It is not fair. Call a spade a spade my brother without fear or favour.”
Are you telling me you do not know the difference between a fool and scandalising some one’s name?
@ Cogito
ReplyDelete“In other words you're saying it's Ok for Mukori to Insult us because the term howling monkey is used where you're staying, anyway thanx for your response it was so educative.”
Are you saying you never called me CIO, Zanu PF project or many such insults. I called you howling monkeys because you never addressed the issues raised but shouted them down!
This is just a foolish debate, the real issue here is whether people like J Chitando have the right to dream up scandalous falsehoods to blacken someone's name and threaten them because they do not want to be held to democratic account for what the did and failed to do in public office!
Are you defending Chitando and the idea that he and his fellow MDC/CCC leaders should not be held to account and that they are free to invent malicious stories to silence all who dare hold them to account? You are, once again, just defending the indefensible.
@ Nay Chosen
ReplyDeleteSince you have been counting, how many times have I been called a puppet, CIO, Zanu PF project and worse? Why is it that you are making a mountain out of a mole hill of my calling some people idiots? The complaining of name calling is a knee jerk reaction to losing the debate.
It is a fact that MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one reform in 23 years, including 5 years in the GNU. I have said CCC’s claim they have winning in rigged election strategies are hot air and that has turned out to be the case. What we are seeing here is a desperate attempt to draw attention away from CCC’s blundering incompetence.
What people like Chitando are doing is making up malicious stories, knowing fully well that they are not true, just to blacken my name. It is shocking that you pontificating about name calling but have said nothing about the serious charge of deliberately character assassination!
Do we really want a fresh election or the opportunity to implement the democratic reforms and sort this issue of rigged elections once and once for all?
ReplyDeleteMDC failed to implement the reforms during the last GNU, we must not waste this opportunity by being stampeded into refresh elections by the very people who got us into this mess!
@ Mukanya
ReplyDeleteZimbabwe is a failed state because we have failed to hold free, fair and credible elections. The solution is to implement the democratic reforms and so as long as we continue to have rigged elections I will repeat the solution is implementing reforms.
You are frothing because I have repeated reforms these last two years and yet you are indifferent to the reality the nation has just had yet another rigged elections making it 43 years of rigged elections. You clearly have your priorities wrong! Of course, it is not your faulty!
@ Shocks

This is a nonsense argument! MDC/CCC has failed to implement even one democratic reform in 23 years including 5 in the GNU. It is utter nonsense to even suggest that MDC/CCC has sold out all these years for the sake of allowing Zanu PF to rig elections so that SADC and AU can condemn the process. Of all the idiotic excuses for the treasonous betrayal for failing to implement reforms, that takes the biscuit!
@ VaZhou
ReplyDelete“Wilbert please don't wait to fight those on the front. You are holed somewhere in UK and no innovative measures you are taking except your whatsapp group rants. Please come lead us here. We need you here so much.”
Zimbabweans have been conned to give up reforms and the right to free and fair elections because the believed in CCC’s winning in rigged elections strategies. As long as we have an electorate that is so naive and gullible they easily conned into believe such nonsense as Chamisa’s claim that he had plugged all vote rigging loop-holes when the country was going into elections without something as basic as a verified voters’ roll; Zimbabwe will remain a failed state.
If there was an election tomorrow and Albert Einstein of good governance was on the ballot; he will lost to anyone of the 11 buffoons who were on the 23 August 2023 ballot. The Zimbabwean voters will not know a quality leader even if they were given one on a silver platter! It takes some common sense, at least, to know quality.
What Zimbabwe needs is an educated and vigilant electorate, voters who can think for themselves and not follow blindly like sheep to the slaughter. The task of educating the people is an important task.
I was really surprised that CCC leaders took up their gravy train seats even after SADC and AU had declared the election process was flawed and illegal, so flawed it could not produce a legitimate winner. They were quick to agree the elections were flawed and illegal and yet by accepting the gravy train seats they were saying flawed or not we don't care. Greed got the better of them and they have struggle to justify their decision.
ReplyDelete“We took up the seats to protect zones of autonomy!” Tendai Biti argued.
What matters most is by taking up the seats they also gave the election process and the Zanu PF regime legitimacy. And thus under SADC’s position saying this Zanu PF regime is illegitimate. Why Chamisa even bothered to send envoys to SADC leaders beggars belief, they want SADC to declare Zanu PF elected leaders illegal but CCC leaders legal although they were all elected in the same flawed process!
How long are will CCC frogs remain on the stove plates, especially if they are turned on?
@ Mbofana
ReplyDeleten fact, the failure to resist and stand up to our bullying leaders is the main reason the repression will continue and actually worsen.
In conclusion, I will repeat the biblical quote, 'resist the devil and he will flee'.
Remember, the devil - who inspires these dictators - is also a coward!
The Zanu PF thugs have enjoyed absolute power for 43 years now and they have becone addicted to it, giving it up is unthinkable. The economic and human condition situation in the country is tragic and demands real change and not the token change of 2017. This is a clash of titans something has to give and one thing is certain it will not be pretty!
@ Simba
ReplyDelete“The just released ZBC documentary against SADC has exposed ZANU PF because the observer mission statement-announcer, Nevers Mumba is well known for over 27 years video as a sworn ZANU PF propaganda-agent, participating in Emmerson Mnangagwa's prophetic mafia since 1995 (and even 5 months ago even recorded a notorious video protecting the disgraced Zim Govt ambassador Uebert Angel and Mnangagwa against a law enforcement investigation) and so SADC's choice of an electoral head who is traditionally pro Mnangagwa seals the door against all manner of blame shifting or excuse accusing the body over bias, as he is organically more than neutral of which it should be @nelsonchamisa @CCCZimbabwe and others who are disadvantaged by any bias.”
Well, well! After all the sweat and blood shed by Zanu PF to discredit Dr Nevers Mumba, now it turns out he was their man. In many ways it underlines the truth behind the report. How could any election observer falsify something so obvious. The 23 August 2023 were so flawed ZEC did not even produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, rural voters were frogmarched to attend Zanu PF rallies and to vote, etc.
The final report said the election process was so flawed it could not produce a legitimate result. Everyone is now waiting for SADC to confirm that the regional body does not recognise the Zanu PF government as legitimate. The wheels of justice turn very slowly but most important thing is that they turn.
What the people of Zimbabwe are expecting to see happen is this Zanu PF government to be ruled illegitimate and SADC to step into the power vacuum and announce that the regional body be responsible for setting up the interim administration whose primary task will be to implement democratic reforms to guarantee free, fair and credible elections in the future and to held the fresh elections soon there after.
Since SADC set up the 2008 to 2013 GNU that failed to get even one reform implemented it would be prudent for the regional body to seek the backing of the UN this time. There is no shame is asking for help.
Zanu PF has tried to discredit Dr Nevers Mumba ever since he read out the SADC Election Observer Mission report condemning the process as flawed and illegal. The attempt has failed now that it emerges Dr Mumba defended the Zanu PF regime's activities in the Al Jazeera Gold Mafia.
ReplyDeleteSADC must now move to condemn Zanu PF government as illegitimate and start the important task of setting up the interim government whose primary task will be to implement the democratic reforms to ensure future elections are free, fair and credible.

ReplyDelete“ZanuPF must be forced by Parliament to drop the hate slogan Pasi naChamisa or .......! Our Constitution is very clear on use of hate language. MDC must also forced to drop Rovera pasi !! Bwaaaaaa! The good is that ZanuPF has no 2/3 majority so its easy to push for this.”
The 23 August 2023 elections were flawed and illegal, “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw”, as David Coltart of the 2013 elections. SADC and AU elections observers confirmed this in their 2023 election reports and made it clear the process could not possibly produce a legitimate result.
This Zanu PF government is illegitimate. By taking up your gravy train seats CCC has become part and parcel of the illegitimate government. Which part of illegitimate are you, Chitando, and your fellow CCC idiots failing to understand?
If you lot had implemented the democratic reforms and stopped Zanu PF rigging the elections, especially during the 2008 to 2013 GNU, Zimbabwe would not still be talking about rigged elections.
The regional body and the nation is engaged with how to end the illegitimate government and form an interim one whose primary task would be to implement the democratic reforms you lot failed to implement in the last GNU. And all you are wittering about is keeping the illegitimate parliament so it can “force Zanu PF to drop “Pasi naChamisa!” FCUK me! No wonder you lot failed to implement even one token reform during the last GNU, you really are brain dead!
“SADC cannot go beyond the supremacy of individual National Sovereignties ; Independent Territorial Integrities and separate National Independences of the member countries.
ReplyDeleteSADC does not have competent COURTS not JURY that tries cases.”
History has taught us that tyrants ride roughshod over their people and hide behind the blanket of we are a sovereign nation this is why there is something called Universal Human Rights. The right to a meaningful say in the governance of one’s country is one such universal right.
Zanu PF has never ever held free, fair and credible elections these last 43 years and has managed to get away with it. This must now end and this time it will end! Mark my words!
SADC Troika meeting: Did Ibbo Mandaza's prediction fail again?
ReplyDeleteThe SADC Troika meeting, which was "scheduled" for the just-ended week, did not take place. This is despite the prediction of Ibbo, a Zimbabwean political activist, that it would.
Let’s honest here, any one who knows anything about SADC and AU will tell you these are very weak and indecisive organisations. They are consensus organisations meaning they are as strong as their weakest link and we all know most African countries are weak and feeble.
The very fact that SADC and the AU election observer teams came up with a strong report condemning Zimbabwe’s 23 August 2023 elections was a surprise to all and sundry not because the reports said the election was flawed and illegal; we all knew that. The surprise was the teams dared to say the obvious. In the past election teams have glossed over and turned a blind eye to the vote rigging.
Now that the election was condemned it will be very hard for both SADC and AU to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy. It is possible that both organisation are developing cold feet and are looking at how they can grant Zanu PF legitimacy without losing face - not that they have much to lose, with a reputation is not worth the spit!
