"CCC is causing suffering through sanctions and inflation" said Big Spender. Stop him rigging and he'll stop lying! W Mukori

During elections, President Mnangagwa become Mr Bigger Spender! Anyone who is anyone gets something from Mr Big Spender.

Village hears got motorcycles plus free public service medical aid membership. Chiefs got the traditional new twin-cab trucks plus lavish new home steads. CIO directors and judges, whose role in the vote rigging is crucial, have receive US$400 000 housing loans. Zanu PF parliamentary candidates in these elections got new twin-can trucks,  etc. Even the teachers and nurses have finally got a wage increase, after years of endless negotiations. They got 100% wage increase with the low ranking Army, Police, CIO and Prison Services getting a differential 400%.

Where is Mr Big Spender getting all this money from? From all the wholesale looting of the nation’s resources, all those benefiting the looting are bankrolling the Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut. And then there is the option of printing more and more local currency, the Z$!

The increase in the local currency without a corresponding increase in wealth is the essence of inflation and therefore it was no surprise the prices of goods and services started to soar and the value of the Z$ started to fall compared to the US$. Within a matter of a few weeks the exchange rate from Z$200 to Z$ 600 to US$1.00.

The regime first blame the business owners and the street corner money traders. It has gone up the gears, it is now blaming the opposition and the West!

"We in Zanu-PF are building this country while some opposition parties supported by their Western handlers are causing suffering to our people through sanctions and the attack on our currency,” President Mnangagwa to Zanu PF supporters in Masvingo.

"We are aware of those bent on causing havoc in the country by attacking our currency, they will never succeed, and they want our minerals. They want citizens to get frustrated and rise against the Zanu-PF party. They are fighting to take advantage of manufactured poverty.

"These detractors and their surrogates have never had the people of Zimbabwe at heart, our mass revolutionary party is the only party with a vision for the future.”

In a country where the ruling party rigs elections, it can say whatever it wants, blame everyone else except itself for all the country's ills, promise the moon on a silver platter, etc., etc. Nothing matters because it is not democratically accountable to anyone. Come elections it will rig, secure its iron grip on political power and to continue to do as it damn well please!

I blame the opposition for the country’s sorrow state of economic and political affairs. MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections. As long as Zanu PF is able to rig the elections and impose itself on the nation the party will stifle all meaningful debate on the economy, politics and everything under the sun.

Lest we forget, MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and they sold out. They failed to implement even one token reform in five years. Worse still, MDC/CCC have been participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship.

What makes Zimbabwe’s political situation infuriating is that MDC/CCC leaders know it is futile participating in these flawed elections only to give Zanu PF legitimacy but they continue doing so regardless out of selfish greed!

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn't now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections," confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

"The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility."

If Zimbabwe was a healthy and functioning democratic country is which there was healthy public debate on issues, of course, many people will know by now that corruption, not sanctions, is the number one cause the country’s economic meltdown.

A few weeks ago an Al Jazeera documentary revealed that Zimbabwe is losing a US$1.6 billion per year to gold smugglers or 80% of its gold. In 2016 the late dictator Robert Mugabe admitted the country had been swindled out of US$15 billion in diamond revenue. He did not say over what period but many believe in five years or so. And so Zimbabwe is losing a staggering US$4.6 b every year to gold and diamond smugglers alone or 17% of its US$28 billion GPD. No nation can expect that level of looting and expect to survive much less prosper.

But most important of all the people would have voted for regime change decades ago!

Zimbabwe is a failed state, 43 years of this corrupt, tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship has left the country in economic ruins. The state is failing to provide even the most basic services such as education, health care and clean running water. 49% of the country’s population is now living in abject poverty.

The prospect of Zanu PF rigging the 2023 elections and thus extend the regime’s stay in power to continue riding roughshod of the people’s rights, hopes and dreams is simply too gustily to contemplate. And yet this is a political certainty given CCC are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections for 30 pieces of silver.

  1. Zimbabwe's worst curse is that power has been in the hands of buffoons who have no clue what they are doing. They spear headed the liberation war and they have taken that as proof they and they alone are the wisest and only one fit to rule Zimbabwe “kusvika madongi camera nyanga!”

Zimbabwe is a failed state, 43 years of this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship has left the nation traumatised and in economic ruins. 49% of our people are living in abject poverty and basic services such as education and health care have all but collapsed, starved of funds. The Zanu PF buffoon do not see the any of these things.

The odd occasion they do acknowledge there is a problem, eg in the face of the soaring inflation, they always have a whole array of scapegoats to blame. And always finish claims that they have the solutions.

"We are aware of those bent on causing havoc in the country by attacking our currency, they will never succeed, and they want our minerals,” said Mnangagwa last week.

The one universal solution Zanu PF has is to rig elections and stay in power “kusvika madongi camera nyanga!” These Zanu PF thugs are holding the nation to ransom!

It is tragic that MDC/CCC leaders have not only wasted many golden opportunity to implement reforms and end the dictatorship but are now keeping the regime in power by participating in flawed elections out of greed. The biggest mistake we can make is to participate in these flawed 2023 elections and give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy! Zanu PF must be denied legitimacy!

  2. Zimbabwe is a failed state so much so it now has the singular honour of being the most miserable nation on earth for the last three years running now! We are stuck!

Zanu PF thugs have dragged the nation into this mess. It was Gandhi and his follow Indian nationalists who asked “What kind of leaders would an armed struggle throw up? Will those be the kind of men and women we would want to rule India?” It is now clear that the people of Zimbabwe should have asked the same questions because in Zanu PF the country corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs as leaders and we have paid dearly for it.

The country had had many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship with the best chances coming during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The primary purpose of the GNU was to implement the democratic reforms. Arthur Mutambara was a Deputy Prime Minister and one of the three principals in the GNU and loves hogging the limelight blabbering endlessly about leadership qualities. He has even written three volumes on the subject, he had so much to say one volume was not enough.

And yet he and his fellow MDC leaders failed to implement even one token democratic reform in five years! Not even one! Well that speaks volume about the man who claims to be an extraordinary leader in his own right and knows so, so much on what makes good leaders! His pathetic performance during the 2008 to 2013 GNU tells me he is just a rubber duck giving to quacking when squeezed and only an idiot impressed with the verbosity would conclude the quacking makes sense!

Zanu PF has not remained in power these last 43 years because people did not "VOTE WISELY"! They have done so because they RIGGED the elections. You can bury your head in the sand; telling people to vote wisely will not, I repeat WILL NEVER stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

By participating you only give SADC leaders the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy!

Of course, it is insane that after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections there are some people who still don’t know elections are rigged. Fcuk me! No wonder the country is the most miserable nation on earth; we have more than our fair share of village idiots! Vote wisely! Yeah right!

No one gave them five years in 2018 or 2013, etc.; that is the point! That is what RIGGED elections means! Those who are participating in these flawed elections thinking they will win rigged elections are the real fools here because by participating they are giving the flawed process legitimacy!

Zanu PF brainwashed MDC leaders during the GNU into giving up on implementing democratic reforms on the believe the MDC was so popular they would win rigged elections.

Sadly the MDC/CCC followers are naive and gullible lot, thick as a brick, they have seized on this oxymoronic nonsense of Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES); they will hear nothing else. Of course, only a village idiot would trade in their right to free, fair and credible elections for something as frivolous as WIRES - that is trading gold for fool’s gold!

Mutambara is just a rubber duck, squeeze it and it quacks! If he implemented even one reform in five years then he must have written all about it in his three volumes on leadership. He should have no problem naming that reform and enlighten us all!

So the GNU failed to implement even one reform in five years and Arthur Mutambara, one of the Professors in that GNU, has written three volumes on the GNU’s failures - given his verbosity it is all pitched as exemplary leadership and the faithful are speechless. Fcuk me!

I find your sense of humour sickening, to say the least! 49% of Zimbabweans are living in abject poverty basic services such as education and health care have all but collapsed. Many have no clean running water and no electricity. Zimbabwe has just been named the most miserable nation on earth three years running. And you think that is a laughing matter!

“Murikutyei mukoma to just come here and make sure you shape the Zimbabwe that you want to see. ???

    Why are you instructing others.”

I am not instructing you or anyone to do anything other than asking them to open their eyes and think!

Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections. CCC are participating out of greed. Everyone else is participating out of sheer stupidity because only they will ever do is give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy.

I can say that from here in UK, from SA, Zimbabwe, etc. that is obvious. Of course, it is nonsense to argue that only those “on the ground” know best much less that they alone have the right to say something. This is nothing more than a variation of the Zanu PF ethos that only those who fought in the liberation war have the divine right to rule Zimbabwe. If Zanu PF thugs have failed to silence me, I will be damned if I will now let some good for nothing nincompoop do that!

Is that your excuse for participating in a flawed election to perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship, that Mukori refused to come on the ground? No wonder the country is in a mess! We really have some people whose brain has ossified into an utterly useless lump of fat!

“He agrees with neither zanu pf ZUD UZA MRP CCC. all of them are wrong he is the only right voice!” That is right all these parties are participating in these flawed elections because they maintain the elections are either free and fair or they can win rigged elections. I do not agree with any of them.

I restate my position on the matter: Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections. CCC are participating out of greed. Everyone else is participating out of sheer stupidity because only they will ever do is give SADC the excuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy.

After 43 years of the Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections the real surprise is that anyone would still believe in this Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES) nonsense. Anyone, that is, with a working brain; lest we forget that many of us do not!

The issue here is that Zanu PF is rigging the elections and participating is futile because it will only give SADC the excuse for granting Zanu PF legitimacy. This preposition should be weighed on its merit and whether someone proposing it is “on the ground” or not is totally irrelevant.

This is just as irrational as Zanu PF thugs’ argument that they fought in the liberation war and therefore know best how to govern the country and yet the evidence on the ground speak volumes of the grinding poverty and tyrannical oppression.

You want to participate in the flawed elections and to argue that people must accept that position because you are “on the ground” is just as foolish as Zanu PF arguing that the people must vote for them because “they fought in the liberation war”! It would be equally foolish to accept or reject either preposition the basis you are “on the ground”, etc.

So all those who have left Zimbabwe are not only cowards but cowards who should have nothing to say about Zimbabwe! Well then Zimbabwe is very luck that you the man of courage who are wiser than King Solomon himself and know best are still in Zimbabwe. The obvious question then is why is Zimbabwe still a failed state?

Let me explain this once again! No one has the monopoly of knowledge and being on the ground does not make you a Guru on anything.

Zimbabwe is facing the problem of Zanu PF rigging these 2023 elections. The answer to what to do about it can come from anyone, anywhere and anytime. So get off your high horse and stop this nonsense of thinking that because you are on the ground you know best. What you say will be measured on its merit and not on where you are!

Stop this Zanu PF mentality that because they fought in the liberation war they know best how to govern the country. The party should allow the people to decide who should govern the country in a free, fair and credible elections. And they will decide on merit and sound economic policies and not who fought in the war!

  11. Indeed, I think the many Zimbabweans who have left the country and still continue to play an active role in sending money or in the search for a way out of the mess must be commented and not condemned. Those calling Zimbabweans in the diaspora cowards and wrong.

I salute those who fought in the liberation war but even they have no right to deny any Zimbabwean their right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. I lose patience with upstarts who think being in the opposition and/or being on the ground is a virtue and everyone else must bow down to them!

We really must put an end to this vicious cycle of yesterday’s liberators become today’s oppressors. And now even braindead idiots are claiming their are national heroes we should all shut up and listen to them. What a load of bulls***t!

  12. Nigel you are in the UK and therefore I assume you will be familiar with the conduct of elections here. You would also be familiar with what an audit is. The one week inspection of the voters' roll in Zimbabwe revealed many errors and some names were missing. Surely that should be enough to justify a full audit of the voters' roll.

A free, fair and credible elections means as many people as possible have the opportunity to vote and by failing to carryout a full audit many Zimbabweans will be denied the vote. This is not rocket science!

  13. One of the consequences of failing to implement reforms and stop Zanu PF rigging elections is the regime will continue to lie and get away with it scot-free.

We need to put an end to this madness by stopping participating in a flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship!

So that should free the resources that would have gone into the upkeep of all these people to “build Zimbabwe”. What are you complaining about!

You should open your eyes and you will see that Zanu PF is NOT building Zimbabwe but destroying it. Unemployment has soared to 90% because the country’s economic engineer has shut down. Power cut are now the norm. Indeed there have been so many power cut NRZ’s electrical equipment has long disappeared, for example.

“Zanu PF is building the country brick by brick!” Yeah right! How any one can believe such hogwash beggars belief! If you had any common sense at all then you would know that we can only start talking of rebuilding - yes rebuild from the ruins left after 43 years of Zanu PF misrule - AFTER we has sorted out the problem of rigged elections and bad governance.

Zimbabwe is a failed state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who are rigging these elections to make sure they stay in power. No investor would want to do business in a country where corruption and chaos rule the roost.

This is exactly what these Zanu PF thugs are doing. They believe because they spear headed the liberation war, they have the divine right to rule and to have the lion’s share of all the nation have. They can see there is increasing poverty but they either chose to turn a blind eye to it or blame others for it - it is never their fault after all they are divinely chosen to rule.

Zanu PF are holding the nation to ransom. The tragedy for the country is we had the golden opportunity to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and MDC/CCC leaders sold out for a share of the spoils of power. They are selling out in these elections by participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship! What makes this a double tragedy is millions of ordinary Zimbabweans are participating in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy because they foolishly believe CCC’s idiotic lie of having Winning In Rigged Elections strategies (WIRES).

How anyone would trade in their fundamental right to free and fair elections for a frivolous WIRES promise, beggars belief! How can anyone trade gold for fool’s gold especially after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections! Some people are just too stupid for words!

  16. @ Wakurawarerwa

Zanu PF is rigging these elections and none of CCC's so-called Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES) are working. We have been here before, ignoring the rigging and calls to implement reforms BEFORE elections only for MDC/CCC to complain of Zanu PF rigging the morning after the elections. This is stupid because the damage will be done and its too late.

We know Zanu PF is rigging these elections and CCC’s WIRES are just hot air. We must and are denouncing this flawed elections NOW and denouncing the CCC sell outs NOW. SADC must know that there are Zimbabweans who totally agree with SADC’s June 2013 position not to participate in these flawed elections without first implementing reforms! Not even one token reform was implemented since June 2013 and therefore the advice valid then is still valid today.

SADC must not grant Zanu PF political legitimacy to punish MDC for betraying them just they have done all these years. MDC/CCC are sell out they have betrayed SADC and the people of Zimbabwe too. In punish MDC/CCC SADC are punishing the ordinary people too! This double jeopardy and they are not even the guilty party! This is totally unacceptable and must stop!

“Count down to victory!” My foot! Count down to another sell out!

“What do you mean Mukori by saying "Stop participating in flawed Elections to give ZANU PF legitimacy..... if we don't participate are we not also giving it legitimacy. They still win uncontested. It's better to be part of the race than to fear away.”

Why did Zanu PF accept sharing power in the 2008 to 2013 GNU if the party did not care about international political legitimacy? Ever since the 2008 GNU Zanu PF has embraced the need for the opposition to participate in elections to maintain the facade, Zimbabwe is a healthy and functioning democracy! The party has allowed the opposition to win a few gravy train seats to entice them to participate. Mnangagwa has even devised POLAD to reward losing presidential candidate who publicly declare that elections are free, fair and credible and salute Mnangagwa as the legitimate president!

Nelson Chamisa and the other opposition leaders are participating for a chance to win the jackpot of US$ 60 000 car allowance, US$ 40 000 housing allowance, a chance to get a farm plus generous salary and allowances.

The real suckers here are the ordinary Zimbabweans who participate only to be kicked in the teeth. Their reward is the biter herbs born out of extending the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship. If the people are stupid enough to believe Chamisa’s Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES) even after 43 years of the Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections then they deserve to suffer until they learn!

If Zanu PF remains in power after 2023 elections then it is better that they do so without my blessing!

Those who will not learn from the past are destined to repeat the same foolish mistake and pay dearly with each repeat!

  18. Thinking that zanu-pf will reform itself from power that's day-dreaming. Even if CCC boycott the election because of reforms it's clear that the ruling party will declare themselves as winners.S.A.D.C and A.U are toothless dogs there are not going to resolve the Zimbabwean issue it's high time for us Zimbabweans to unite and fight for our country back , rather than blaming opposition parties.#Hapana kusiri kufa.”

You should learn to respect historic facts and not trade falsehoods to help your narrative.

It was SADC and AU’s refusal to endorse Mugabe and Zanu PF’s victory in the 2008 elections as legitimate that forced the dictator to agree to the formation of the GNU. And so to say SADC and AU are toothless is a lie!

The fact that not even one token reform was implemented during the GNU was MDC leaders’ fault not SADC.

It was none other than SADC who wanted the 2013 elections postponed until reforms were implemented. Both the two MDC factions ignored the advice because of their foolishness and greed.

It is shocking that you have no clue what happened during the GNU, even now with the benefit of hindsight and yet continue to make outrageous and foolish claims and accusations.

CCC leaders are participating in these flawed elections for the same reasons they participated in 2013 and 2018 and why they failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU - greed and incompetence. You can bury your head in the sand and refused to accept this but that will not change that fact!

As for the ordinary people, they are participating in these 2023 for the same reasons they have done so in the past - ignorance and/or fear - only to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate their own suffering. Only a fool would give up their right to free elections because they believe in CCC’s Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES) especially after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections.

“Hapana kesiri kufa!” And so you participate to give Zanu PF legitimacy? What a totally irrational argument!
