16 August 2019 demo echoes march in support of November 2017 coup - Mngangagwa used and abused us and now its Chamisa's turn N Garikai

"Now that we have dialogued with our God, we have to dialogue between man and man. To be able to do that, we have to take some very practical steps going forward and those decisive steps are going to be announced to you in due course," Chamisa said
This is just a blatant lie. As much as we are all free to pray and petition God, it is very presumptuous for anyone to then claim that not only did God grant them their request but that they had “a dialogue with God!” This becomes more outrageous when it is clear the request is a selfish one, there is no way God would ever want to be involved in such deceitful activities.

MDC deputy president Tendai Biti, after a meeting with Chamisa on Monday, said the MDC was taking a "radical paradigm shift."

"There comes at a time in the history of any struggle where a radical paradigm shift is required. Section 59 cries out loud. Our people are suffering: poverty, shortages, hyperinflation, corruption and the collapse of social services decimates our people," Biti said, referencing a constitutional provision which protects the right to protest and petition peacefully.

MDC leaders are calling for demos to press Mnangagwa to accept their proposals to go into a power sharing arrangement. The arrangement is supposed to address the people’s suffering but we all know that it will do no such thing. Chamisa says he has the key to unlock the economic recovery; he is bluffing. The power sharing is to allow MDC leaders back on the gravy train as happened during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They “sat, ate and did nothing” as Chamisa rightly admitted.

Where in the Holy Scriptures have we ever heard the Lord approving such dirty schemes designed to enrich the few at the expense of the suffering masses!

Nearly two years ago Zimbabweans came out in their thousands in support of the 15 November 2017 military coup after they were told it would bring freedom and liberty to all. The coup plotters just wanted the masses to support them but had no intention of dismantling the dictatorship. Chamisa and company just want the people to support them in their quest to get back on the gravy train.

MDC’s 16 August call for street protest in support for demands for a new GNU are echoes of the public support of the November 2017 military coup. The coup did not dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship and in like manner the new GNU will fail to deliver free, fair and credible elections. Mnangagwa and his putsch used us to further their selfish agenda and now Chamisa and his friends are using and abusing us. We never learn!

  1. MDC leaders are fighting to get back on the gravy train and they are just using the worsening economic meltdown as a convenient pressure point to get Mnangagwa to share power. Chamisa says he has the key to unlock the economic recovery, he has no key, he is just bluffing!

Zimbabwe will never have any meaningful economic recovery as long as the country remains a pariah state and adding a few MDC leaders to the mix will not change anything. No one will ever be fooled into believing adding Chamisa to the cabinet will change the Zanu PF dictatorship! The last GNU failed to implement even one reform and this one will not do any better!

  2. Tendai Biti, we had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and you and your MDC friends failed to implement even one reform in five years! Yes in Zanu PF we may have the worst government on the planet but in the MDC we must have one of the most corrupt and incompetent opposition parties in the world too!

  3. It is a crying shame that the people of Zimbabwe are so dull, naive and stupid; they insane in that they have made the same nauseatingly stupid mistakes over and over again for the last 39 years and still they have not learned. I agree with you 100% Zanu PF has used and abused the people and now it is MDC's turn and they are having a field day!

How is it possible that so many Zimbabweans; including the millions who cannot just read and write but with professional qualifications, nurses, doctors, engineers, professors, etc., etc.;still do not know that MDC sold-out during the last GNU. After a decade of denying it was not MDC leaders' fault that the GNU failed to implement even one reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections; Chamisa admitted they "sat, ate and did nothing for five years of the GNU!" And even after the admission many Zimbabweans out there still do not believe MDC leaders sold-out.

The irony is whilst MDC leaders had spent a lot of time and energy blame Zanu PF, SADC and everyone else for the failure of the last GNU; they were the first off the mark to ask Mnangagwa and his coup plotters to cancel the 2018 elections so there can be another GNU. Tsvangirai left his SA hospital bed in a huff to join Mnangagwa following the coup in what he thought would be a new GNU.

The new GNU MDC are calling for will NOT implement an meaningful reforms for the same reason the 2008 GNU failed to - greed. All Chamisa et al want is to get back on the gravy train so they can sit, eat and do nothing. How anyone with even half a brain cannot see this beggars belief.

A healthy and functioning democracy demands a knowing, vigilant and assertive electorate and not a naive, lazy and brain-dead one. If you will be conned by a village idiot like Mnangagwa, Chamisa, etc. again and again it is because your brain has atrophied into a lump of fatty tissue following years of idleness.

“So what do you suggest should be done, the current leadership is failing the people as u rightfully put the message across but you also reckon the only threat to this leadership also want to use us for no apparent benefit to the people. Question is should then the people of this nation just sit & wait for another saviour whom you might also claim to have selfish ambitions when he arrives?”

Well, you must admit that it would be better for the people to “just sit and wait for another saviour” than to once again risk life and limb help Chamisa and Mnangagwa establish new GNU which will accomplish nothing.

Just getting many people to grasp the truth of how MDC are corrupt, incompetent and sell-outs will be a very great achievement. Many of the people who joined the November 2017 march in support of the coup never doubted for one second that they were doing the right thing. They would not believe they were being used and abused, even after a detailed explanation why this was so.

Doing nothing is better than doing the wrong thing and so knowing wrong thing is important. But if you know the wrong thing and the right thing too, that is even better.

Zanu PF rigged last year’s elections, it has no mandate, it is illegitimate. It is this failure to have a legitimate government that is at the heart of Zimbabwe being a pariah state. It is better to have an interim administration coming out of the acknowledging the reality that we have no legitimate government than to have an illegitimate one. Zanu PF must step down to create the political space for the interim administration.

What Chamisa and company are doing is offering Zanu PF “legitimacy” for the price of Mnangagwa giving MDC leaders a share of the spoils of power. This is just typical MDC sell-out mentality because it is not for MDC or anyone else to grant legitimacy to Zanu PF. Only the people of Zimbabwe grant legitimacy through winning majority vote in free, fair and credible elections. Second, MDC are selling legitimacy for their own selfish gain, as stated above.

The people must demand that Zanu PF steps down and they must have nothing to do with MDC’s demos, just to make sure MDC does not use them to push their own agenda at the expense of the people’s agenda. Indeed, MDC leaders have been very careful to say little about the cabinet position they want, the ministerial limos, etc. because they do not want to give away that it is power they are after and do not give a damn about reforms, etc.

  5. @ Dr Sibanda

Did the opposition in Malawi participate in the elections knowing the elections will be rigged? MDC and the rest of our corrupt and incompetent opposition politicians participated in last year's elections even when ZEC failed to produced a verified voters' roll. How foolish was that!!!!!

Understanding the fact that MDC sold-out during the GNU is key to understanding why the proposed solution of a Zanu PF and MDC power sharing is a none starter.
