"Beseech God for wisdom" Chamisa called - keeping illegitimate Zanu PF is not wise, it's stupid W Mukori

“I am urging all Zimbabweans from all walks of life and various denominations, in and outside the country to embark on a seven day prayer, fasting and intercession for our beloved country, Zimbabwe before undertaking crucial and decisive next steps,” called out Nelson Chamisa.

“In particular, during the seven days of prayer, starting from Monday the 29th of July to Sunday the 4th of August, I kindly ask you to take an hour between 1pm and 2pm every day to lift your hands and submit your hearts to the Lord beseeching Him to grant us the power, wisdom, strength and providence to see us through.

“Rallying call, "Zimbabwe shall lift her hands unto the Lord"

Hold on one minute! You are asking us to “beseech the Lord to grant us the power, wisdom, strength and providence to see us through”, through what exactly?

What are these “crucial and decisive next steps”?

Because if you are talking of demonstrations to force Mnangagwa to concede to your demands to go into a power sharing arrangement with you in return for MDC granting the tyrant and his junta legitimacy only fools would want to join you. We know what is in it for you and a few of your fellow MDC leaders but also know there will be nothing in it for the long-suffering people of Zimbabwe.

You want a cabinet post for yourself, Tendai Biti and two or three others. You lot are desperate to get back on the gravy train. Whilst you agree Zanu PF rigged last year’s elections and the regime is per se illegitimate. You are offering Mnangagwa legitimacy in return for a share in the spoils of power.

The idea that Zanu PF can blatantly deny millions of Zimbabweans the vote, reduce millions of the rural voters into nothing more than serfs and frog march them to vote for the party, fail to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, etc., etc. and yet still declare itself legitimate is an insult. The suggestion that MDC can usurp the people’s exclusive power and authority and declare Zanu PF legitimate for a share of the spoils of power is an outrage.

Only the people of Zimbabwe, in a free, fair and credible elections, give the winner the mandate to govern and legitimacy.

Worse still the proposed power sharing will not implement any democratic reforms just as the 2008 to 2013 failed to do the same. Chamisa has himself admitted that he and his MDC friends “sat, ate and did nothing for five years of GNU”. There is nothing to suggest they will do any better this time round. Nothing!

If Zanu PF is still in power come 2023, the regime will rig those elections as readily as it rigged last year’s elections. Now, is that really what we would want to beseech the Lord God Almighty to make sure happen? Hell, no!

We are in this situation with Zanu PF back in power and the country in total economic chaos precisely because the last GNU failed to get even one meaningful reform implemented. "MDC ate and accomplished nothing for five years!" as Chamisa himself admitted two weeks ago at the launch of RELOAD. A new GNU will give MDC leaders another chance to sit and eat and do nothing.

You can bury your head in the sand and pretend the country is moving forward by repeating the same foolish big mistake of the last 39 years - appeasing Zanu PF by allowing the thugs to rig elections and rewarding them with absolute power.

“Chamisa know what the people want..chamisa was robbed..it was a day light robbery no living creature will never forget..let him be Mexico..lawless..we don't have a gvnnt up to now..chamisa does not a job as compared to us..”

Was Chamisa robbed during the last GNU? He "sat, ate and did nothing for five years" as he has finally admitted. We are in this mess because no reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections were implemented. He is fighting for a new GNU so he can "sit, eat and do nothing"! Why is it so difficult for you to understand this simple reality?

You do not even have the common sense to see that the last thing the country wants is yet another meaningless GNU. Chamisa is taking full advantage of your stupidity to sell-out once again.

“Chamisa knows what the people want!” Yeah right! Then why has MDC failed to implement even one democratic change in the party’s 20 years in power? Your stupidity takes my breath away! With such naïve and gullible voters it is little wonder the country is in a real mess and, worse still, has no hope of ever getting out!

  3. What about; "MDC has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging elections!" (Only for Zanu PF to go on and blatantly rig the elections.)

"We sat and ate and did nothing in five years of the GNU!" (Which is true but took Chamisa ten years to finally admit it!)

“Out of the people who are angry and poking Chamisa with a stick for not ‘showing leadership’, how many of those are willing to go out into the streets and be counted? For demos to be effective, they’d have to be carried out nationwide, Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Kwekwe, Mutare, Masvingo, Chitungwiza, Mt Darwin and involving a total way into the millions,” you argue.

“A progressive coup would install a transitional government that includes Chamisa and the MDC, pending a constitutional rewrite followed by a general election.”

We have been down this road before and it got us nowhere as we can see. The last GNU accomplished nothing. “We sat, ate and did nothing for five years,” Chamisa finally admitted two weeks ago. And you are still advocating an MDC led transition government.

Yes Zanu PF has failed the nation but so too has MDC. MDC has been running with the hare and hunting with the hound and hence the reason the party has failed to implement even one democratic reform in 20 years!

Before we go on the streets, we must be 100% clear what it is we want. Another MDC and Zanu PF GNU is a total waste of time! How many times has one to say this before the penny finally drops!

“Chamisa only asked for prayer, he needs our support: for years he has demonstrated he knows what he is doing, says elder Henry Musikavanhu.”

Chamisa asked the people to beseech the Lord and pray for a week “for the crucial next step”. What that crucial next step was, he did not say. That alone speaks volumes of one who “has demonstrated he knows what he is doing”!

Chamisa and MDC have been calling for dialogue with Mnangagwa who out come is shared power. MDC has finally publicly acknowledged that Zanu PF rigged last year’s elections and hence the reason the regime is illegitimate. MDC is offering Mnangagwa legitimacy in return for a few gravy train seats.

It must be stated here and now that only the people of Zimbabwe in a free, fair and credible elections confer on the winner the mandate to govern the country and legitimacy. It is not for Chamisa and his MDC sell-out to bargain away the people’s right to free, fair and credible elections and legitimacy like water mellows.

Zimbabwe would be a healthy and functioning democracy right now if it was not for MDC leaders sell-out again and again. This must be stopped forthwith just as Zanu PF rigging not be stopped.

The proposed MDC and Zanu PF GNU will not implement any meaningful reforms for the same reasons the last GNU failed to do the same.

We want to make progress and get out of this hell-hole Zanu PF land us in. As long as Zanu PF remains in power, be it on its own or in a GNU with MDC.

  6. Mupfumira became the first high profile politician and sitting Cabinet Minister to be arrested since the reconstitution of the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission by President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the appointment of High Court Judge Loice Matanda-Moyo.

The Tourism Minister faces seven counts of criminal abuse of office triggered by a forensic audit report by Auditor General Mildred Chiri on the National Social Security Authority (Nssa) from which some $95 million was reportedly siphoned on her “verbal orders.”

Mupfumira is denying all charges and her lawyer Charles Chinyama on Friday argued the State has a weak case and relying on unsubstantiated claims that she gave verbal orders to the board on several occasions.

Chinyama refused to comment after court proceedings.

“I have no authority to talk to the media. I have been barred,” he said.

Current Public Service Minister Sekai Nzenza has come under fire for refusing to make the audit report public claiming she is still studying it.

Nzenza has received support from Justice Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi who told angry MPs early this week that the Executive had a right to first understand the report before tabling it in the National Assembly.

However, as fate would have it, the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission pounced on Mupfumira.

Parts of the report have now become public given the form major swathes of the charges against Mupfumira.

Whilst some people may view this as proof of Mnangagwa’s willingness to tackle corruption the truth is corruption will not be stamped out as long as Zanu PF remains in power. Corruption is “deep rooted” as Mnangagwa himself readily admitted, it is institutionalised and those enjoying the absolute power are themselves the godfathers of corruption.

  7. There is nothing wrong with asking for divine help and inspiration, what we have seen again and again in Robert Mugabe, Emmerson Mnangagwa and now Nelson Chamisa is the tendency to attribute their, more often than not, very foolish and stupid ideas to divine inspiration. How many times have we heard of Mugabe being referred to in such blasphemous terms as "Second son of God!"

Mnangagwa blatantly rigged last year's elections and the corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs had the audacity to claim "The voice of the people is the voice of God!"

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC friends sold-out on the core cause of free, fair and credible elections for selfish person gain. They did not care that ZEC failed to produce something as basic and fundamental for meaningful elections as a verified voters' roll as long as there was the gravy train seat bait to be had. Chamisa is willing to endorse this illegitimate Zanu PF regime and undermine all those fighting for the regime to step down as long as Mnangagwa gives him and a few other MDC leaders a seat on the gravy train.

He has called all Zimbabweans "to beseech the Lord for wisdom" for a week. Long behold he will claim the power sharing arrangement with Zanu PF he has been crying for the last year is divine wisdom inspired by the Lord God Almighty Himself! All nonsense, of course, since when has God inspired foolish and sell-out solutions! But wait and see how many people will support the Chamisa sell-out proposal convinced the Lord God Almighty Himself is behind it!

Zimbabwe’s political leaders have used religion to hide their failures and even criminal activities. Mnangagwa blatantly rigged the elections only the claim “The voice of the people is the voice of God!” When the people dare to protest the vote rigging he shot them dead!

Chamisa wants people to view his street protest and demands for a new GNU as divinely inspired solutions. He does not want to be questioned on why this GNU should do any better than the last one which failed to get even one reform implemented.

The economic situation in Zimbabwe is one in which doing nothing is no longer an option. As a citizen of a country one has a right to play a meaningful role in the governance of the country and when the said right is denied, to demand it and even die fighting to defend that right. The punishment of doing nothing under the pretext of keeping the peace is the economic and political chaos we see in Zimbabwe today.
