What must be remembered here is that Zanu PF has remained in power all these last 24 years because MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections.
MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU, when they had the golden opportunity to do so. Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high offie and the rest is history.
Ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. MDC/CCC leaders themselves admit it!

Zanu PF leaders’ political modus operandi is to keep all those around them poor and forever indebted to them to whatever drip feed they get from the leader. It is true that most of the war veterans are living in abject poverty and after 44 years of being strung along on the promise the party was doing something to make them rich and happy for the rest of their lives. The promises were always make just before elections with instructions for the war veterans to carry out the party’s dirty bidding to secure electoral victory.
The ordinary Zimbabweans, particularly the rural folk, have been denied title deeds and all other economic empowerment making them no more than medieval serfs at the mercy of the all powerful Zanu PF ruling elite and the party’s proxies - village heads, war veterans, chiefs, etc. Rural areas have remained Zanu PF strongholds for no other reason than that povo who have dared to support the opposition have been ruthlessly punished.
The people of Zimbabwe have allowed Zanu PF to ride roughshod over them, denying them their freedoms and rights, because the regime was merciless to all who dared to threaten its grip on power. Now, with the benefit of hindsight, it is clear that it was unwise to let Zanu PF do as they pleased; they thugs asked for one foot, took a yard and were soon back to take ten yards. And still they would be back demanding and taking even more!

MPs and President are elected to serve a fixed five-year term and at the end of which they must get a fresh mandate from the people in a free, fair and credible elections. There is no constitutional provision to allow the MPs and President to willy-nilly extend their mandate. NONE!
Zanu PF knows postponing elections is a lead balloon and know lead balloons will never fly. They are making a big sing and dance of flying a lead balloon to draw attention away from the fact that the regime is doing nothing to ensure 2028 elections are free and fair.
