“THE country’s main opposition party, CCC, is in agreement with a resolution by the ruling Zanu PF party to postpone the next harmonised elections from 2028 to 2030 to allow developmental projects initiated by President
@edmnangagwa to come to fruition.” posted Nick Mangwana on X.
This is a lead balloon that will never ever fly!
As President of Zimbabwe, Mnangagwa swore to uphold the nation’s constitution, the nation’s highest law, and the constitution is clear that the mandate to govern derived from the people by winning the majority votes in a free, fair and credible elections and that mandate is for a fixed period of five years.
It is not for the president and/or parliament to usurp the people’s power elect and thus give a new mandate to whosoever they want to be their representatives in at the end of this parliamentary session.
Dictators have no respect of the constitution, the law and rule of law and Zanu PF and Mnangagwa, in particular, has shown this contempt of the law and the people’s rights repeatedly in the last 44 years. Zanu PF has never ever held free, fair and credible elections since the country’s independence in 1980.
When it was clear Zanu PF was going to lose the March 2008 vote, Mnangagwa stepped in to blatantly cheat the vote count to force a presidential run-off.
Mnangagwa and his Joint Operation Command (JOC) cronies, a junta comprising top brass in the Army, Police, CIO and Prison Services head by Mugabe and Mnangagwa, launched the military style Operation Mavhotera Papi, in which Zimbabweans were punished for having rejected Zanu PF in the March vote. Millions were internally displaced, hundreds of thousands were beaten and/or raped and over 500 were murdered in the wanton violence of the run-off.
“What was won by the bullet cannot be changed by the ballot!” Mugabe cheered the Zanu PF militia and war veterans, who were the foot soldiers in the operation, and the personal from all the four security services sectors who carried out the heavy duty work of coordinating, abducting and killing. Mugabe got 84% of the vote in the run-off, up from 23% in March!
Mnangagwa was behind the November 2017 military coup that booted Mugabe out of office. The coup was “lawful, justified and constitutional” Judge George Chiweshe announced. He could not name the chapter and verse in the constitution allowing the coup because there is no such clause!
Following the November 2017 military coup Mnangagwa promised to hold free, fair and credible elections. No one was really surprise that he did not honour that promise and blatantly rigged the 2018 and 2023 elections.
Both SADC and AU election observers condemned 2023 elections as flawed and illegal and so Mnangagwa and his regime are illegitimate. SADC and AU did not take the logical step of deny the regime political legitimacy only because Chamisa and his supporters participated in the flawed elections in their millions.
Make no mistake about it Mnangagwa would like to extend his stay in office by hook and by crook and there are two main huddles in his way:
- 1) Zanu PF will never win free, fair and credible elections and he knows that he would have to rig the 2028 elections. He has rigged elections in the past, so that should be ease. It is not! In 2023 Chamisa lied about plugging all vote rigging loop holes to con his followers to participate in the flawed elections in their millions. Of course, Chamisa lied and he has haemorrhaged political credibility it is doubtful he can con his followers to participate in the flawed 2028 elections in their millions again.
- 2) The constitution say a president can serve a maximum of two five year team, Mnangagwa will have served his maximum two terms in 2028.
So the lead balloon to allow Mnangagwa to stay in power till 2030 will mean avoiding the serious challenges of rigging the 2028 election and getting away with it and bending without breaking the maximum two term limit. Mnangagwa will be killing two birds with one stone.
MPs and President are elected to serve a fixed five-year term and at the end of which they must get a fresh mandate from the people in a free, fair and credible elections. There is no constitutional provision to allow the MPs and President to willy-nilly extend their mandate. NONE!
Zanu PF knows postponing elections is a lead balloon and know lead balloons will never fly. They are making a big sing and dance of flying a lead balloon to draw attention away from the fact that the regime is doing nothing to ensure 2028 elections are free and fair. We must focus on ensuring people are not conned yet again to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. Proving that lead balloons do not fly will be easy!

ReplyDeleteMozambique's main opposition leader, Venâncio Mondlane, has returned to a hero's welcome. One hope that this mark the end of the street protests that was lasted since the disputed October 2024 elections costing many lives and property.
Some Zimbabweans participated in the October 2024 elections and thus contributed to the rigging. We must be shamed and hope this never ever happen again.
So where to next Mozambique? One hopes that the nation seize this opportunity to implement the democratic reforms to ensure future elections are free, fair and credible and the chaos of the last four months is never ever repeated!

ReplyDeleteNelson Chamisa lied about plugging vote rigging loop holes to con people to participating in the flawed 2023 elections giving Zanu PF legitimacy and CCC a few gravy train seats. The consequences of this treasonous betrayal was to perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship and the suffering of millions of people.
Of course, Chamisa lied and must and will be held to account for it. The very idea that MDC/CCC Officials like Chief Svosve, the voice of Change Radio, should resort to threats, blackmail and manner of dirty tricks for the sole purpose of stifling debate and democratic accountability is totally unacceptable.
We have not spend the last 44 years to end the Zanu PF dictatorship only to create a Zanu PF copy cat! Change Radio must not be ZBC in all but name!
Chamisa lied and he is accountable - that is not negotiable.
A Nation's Lament: A Dirge for Zimbabwe

Who hath cast this curse upon our land?
From breadbasket of Africa to beggar's hand?
We inherited a jewel, shining bright and bold
But now, our radiance hath faded, like a sunset grown cold
As Julius Nyerere once opined, "A jewel of Africa, don't let it decline"
But decline we did, from glory to shame, like a phoenix that hath lost its shine
We exported quality beef, to Europe's epicurean delight
But now, our livestock suffer, like a ship without anchor or rudder in a stormy night
Our cities, once clean, with sewage flowing free
Now, waste chokes our streets, a stench that doth assail our senses with impunity
No electricity, no water, our daily plight
Our land, once fertile, now barren, without a fight
We cry for the days, when our fields were gold
Now, grass grows, where crops once unfold, like a tale of a bygone era
A few individuals live large, in luxury and unbridled greed
Chivhayo, Sakupwanya, gold reserves exceed
The nation's wealth, while many struggle to survive
A stark contrast, where freedom's just a word, a hollow, haunting refrain
Even those who oppose the powers that be
Are driven by self-interest, a pursuit of personal glee
We witnessed it during the GNU era, a golden chance to restore
But the adversary side was busy lining their pockets, forgetting the people's roar
Legacy is sacrificed on the altar of political expediency
A sad reality, where the nation's interests are but a mere commodity
If you vote for the opposing side, you're donating votes to the other side
A vicious cycle, where the people are taken for a ride
Because of this poem, a brain-dead fanatic will attack me
Protecting someone, so they can get a thank you, a hollow victory
Really, you can't speak of freedom to a slave who admires his chains
A poignant truth, where the oppressed are blind to their own pains
Mbuya Nehanda, Sekuru Kaguvi, is this what you fought for?
A nation where a few benefit, while the rest are poor?
Your struggle, your sacrifice, was it all in vain?
We honour your memory, but the truth, we must proclaim
"The truth shall set us free" – but at what cost?
For speaking truth to power, is a danger we can't ignore
Writing these words, I risk trouble's door
For daring to challenge the status quo, I may face the consequences galore
But silence is not an option, when freedom's at stake
I'll speak out, for the voiceless, for Zimbabwe's sake.”
No one has cursed Zimbabwe, we have cursed ourselves
Zimbabwe political system has failed, we lack common sense to admit it
Lake Chivaro is now a sewage pond, we fish and even drink its water.
After 44 years we still fail to hold free and fair elections
Why? We still governed by the primeval law of dominate or be dominated.
We still believe in winning rigged elections or conned to.
System offers buffoon or weasel for president, no fish in sewage pond
Solution is to stop fishing in a sewage pond
We need to implement the democratic reforms, drain the sewage pond
Quality leaders come from quality electorate as cream from milk
Fools would participate in flawed elections to perpetuate their own suffering
Zimbabweans have been conned again and again and again.
We must snap out of our mental slumber or will continue to suffer and die!
@ Big Fish
ReplyDeleteSo you are insulting me because I asked Chamisa a question!
Did Chamisa lie about plugging vote rigging loop holes? Why is he and you lot refusing to answer a simple and direct question?
Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have failed to hold free, fair and credible elections. Zanu PF has got away with rigged elections because millions were conned by Chamisa to participate in flawed elections because they believed his lie that he had plugged the vote rigging loop holes.
The possibility of Chamisa conning Zimbabweans to participate in the flawed 2028 elections is real. It is imperative that people accept the reality that Chamisa lied to them about plugging vote rigging loop holes in 2023 so that they are not conned yet again in 2028.
And so I will ask you again Big Fish: Did Chamisa lie about plugging vote rigging loop holes?
The question will be asked and Chamisa will be held to account - that is not negotiable and no amount of cursing and swearing will change that. Be warned: I have a sludge hammer and will hammer this message into your empty head!
@ Big Fish
ReplyDelete“Aiwawo sukha...wether it's true or lies he plugged or unplugged the election loopholes is not important because Zanu pf had the State Machinery at its disposal..I always ask you a simple question which you haven't responded since last year, last year's elections were rigged and SADC condemned them.. WHAT DID YOUR SO CALLED SADCC DO AFTER THAT?”
There are number of key points that must be hammered into your empty head:
1) Yes, Chamisa lied about plugging vote rigging loop holes
2) Chamisa’s lie was no ordinary lie but a treasonous one because millions of his brain dead supporters believed the lie and participated in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship and the nation’s suffering.
3) Only a village idiot like you will not comprehend the enormity of folly of participating in flawed elections to perpetuate the dictatorship and the nation’s suffering. The very fact that Chamisa & Co. did this out of greed is unforgivable.
4) Only a village idiot like you will not realise that the danger of Chamisa & Co. conning the brain dead Chamisa chete chete to participate in the flawed 2028 elections to perpetuate the nation’s suffering is real.
5) If the brain dead do not participate in the flawed elections in their millions Zanu PF will be denied political legitimacy and this cycle of rigged elections will end.
6) If you think SADC have something to answer for, ask them. Why are you asking me?
7) You are village idiot whose number one interest is to stifle debate of how to end the curse of rigged elections because you believe Chamisa is a demigod who should never be held to account. And so all your contributions must and will be dismissed with the contempt they deserve!

ReplyDeleteThe seriousness of these climate change induced natural disasters is there for all to see with the LA, USA wild fires. We in the developing nation must expect similar disasters. Will we be able to cope?
Those of us, like Zimbabwe, who economy is in total ruin, have only ourselves to blame. 44 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption have taken their toll and we have done little to stop the madness.
The pressure for us to end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance has never been more acute than it is now! Zimbabwe cannot afford another rigged elections in 2028!

ReplyDeleteThe vitriolic attacked and blackmail from MDC/CCC leaders and die hard core supporters continues and all because they cannot bear to hear that Chamisa lied about plugging vote rigging loop holes much less have him held to account. The truth he lied and must and will be held to account.
If we cannot hold Chamisa & Co. to account now what hope is there of doing so if they controlled the Courts and hold the Chikurubi Prison keys!
Lest people forget Zimbabweans have risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship and not remodel themselves in the regime's own image!
@ Washvvone
ReplyDeleteSo Chamisa can lie to the people and con them to participate in flawed elections to perpetuate the nation’s suffering because “how many times did Zanu PF lie to the people”? Fcuk me! We really have some stupid people in this world!

ReplyDeleteWhy did SA become a healthy and functioning democracy whilst Zimbabwe became the dysfunctional autocracy. SA's leaders truly believed in an independent SA in which all the people enjoyed their freedoms and basic rights.
Mugabe and his cronies, paid lip-service to freedom and human rights all they wanted was for them to be the new ruling elite driving around in Mercedes Benz and to loot the nation's wealth unchallenged. The people risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders to implement the reforms to end the dictatorship.
Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and they forgot about the reforms.
Zimbabwe needs a completely overhaul of the autocracy and Zanu PF and/or MDC/CCC leaders cannot be entrusted with this task. They both failed to produce a democratic system because they lack vision, now they have in invested interest in keeping the status quo!
@ Udelile
ReplyDeleteDid Chamisa lie about plugging all vote rigging loot hope or not? What has the participating in the flawed elections by the other parties got to do with the fact that he lied?
