“Zimbabwe shall be free in our lifetime!!” Whose lifetime, given CCC has failed to implemented even one reform last 23 years. W Mukori

Zimbabwe’s opposition leaders have abandoned the task of bringing about the democratic changes to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and with it the nation’s suffering. They have taken up the task of reminding us all of how Zanu PF continues to rig elections, mismanage and loot and how we, the ordinary people are suffering.

Nelson Chamisa may have abandoned his CCC party in a huff in January 2024, he clearly has every intention of staging a come back. And so he did not miss a trick in reminding us all how miserable we are, especially as the nation remember the 44 years of independence.

“Independence is empty without the dignity and happiness of its beneficiaries. Zimbabwe shall be free and happy in our lifetime!! Independence and freedom can’t be for a few,” said Chamisa.

“Zimbabwe shall be free and happy in our lifetime!!” Damn you! Which lifetime are you wittering about!

You and your MDC/CCC friends promised to deliver democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and thus end the dictatorship when you launched your party 23 years ago. You have failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years, including the 2008 to 2013 GNU when you have the golden opportunity to do so.

So if you have failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years and have clearly given up all hope of implementing any reforms - you have been participating in flawed elections - “in our lifetime” equals never. You are just paying lip service to reforms and change to con the ignorant, naive, gullible who cannot even remember why the nation has risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders.

The question every thinking Zimbabwean must ask themselves is why was Zanu PF able to blatantly rig 2023 elections and get away with it, especially when the nation has, these last 23 years, risked all to elect opposition members with the specific task to implement reforms and end the curse of rigged elections?

There is no denying that the MDC/CCC leaders had many opportunities to end the implement the democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections, especially during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They failed to implement even one reform. Worse still, since the GNU debacle they have been participating in flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy for the sake of a few gravy train seats Zanu PF was offering as bait.

In 2018 Nelson Chamisa insisted in participating in the flawed elections claiming MDC A would win big because the party had “stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging elections.” Of course, he was lying. He started complaining of Zanu PF rigging elections and made a big song and dance of challenging the result in the Constitutional Court, just for show.

Last year, 2023, Chamisa repeated the same empty and deceitful election spectacle. He insisting in participating in the flawed elections claiming CCC had plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes! He even evoke the name of God, “God is in it!” he underlined.

Day after the election it was he was back to the old tune, complaining that  Zanu PF rigged the elections. The CCC leaders who won the few gravy train seats, the bait, took up their reward even though SADC, AU and even our own ZHRC election observers had condemned the election as a farce.

Even if SADC leaders had wanted to deny Zanu PF political legitimacy, they could not. CCC had conned Zimbabweans to participated in the flawed elections in their millions and party leaders had taken up their gravy train seats thus endorse the elections process was free contrary to SADC’s damning report.

Like it or not MDC/CCC leaders have abandoned their primary task of implementing the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections for the more rewarding role of participating in flawed elections for a share of the spoils of power.

There is no denying that the fruits of independence have been enjoyed by the few Zanu PF ruling elite and the cronies and ever since the 2008 GNU a few MDC/CCC leaders have been coopted into this exclusive club - their reward for keeping and PF in power whilst paying lip service to reforms and change. Chamisa and company wasted the golden opportunity to implement reforms during the GNU, only fools will believe they will do so now!

“Zimbabwe shall be free and happy in our lifetime!!” Yeah right!

The real tragedy in Zimbabwe is that the people of Zimbabwe themselves have failed to wake up and smell the humus! Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC have running with the povo hare and hunting with the Zanu PF hounds, in broad day, especially since the GNU, and the people have failed to notice it!

What Zimbabwe needs right now is for povo to realise that Chamisa and company will never implement any democratic reforms, the prerequisite for stopping Zanu PF rigging the elections and thus curing ourselves of the curse of bad governance. We need a competent opposition who will implement the reforms, why that has taken 23 years and counting for the penny to drop beggars belief.

The very idea of SADC calling for fresh Zimbabwe elections is foolishness on steroids. CCC participated in the flawed 2023 elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and has imploded soon thereafter. Fresh elections with the imploded CCC will be just a one horse, Zanu PF, race. Why bother!!!!!

What the people of Zimbabwe must realise a.s.a.p. is that Chamisa and his CCC will be participating in the 2028 elections without any reforms to give Zanu PF legitimacy just as they did in 2023, 2018, etc. We need a competent electorate who will focus on demanding reform before elections and not easily conned into participating in flawed elections!

It is shocking that after 44 years of independence and in this day and age we are still failing to accomplish the simple task of holding free, fair and credible elections! It is really, really disappointing!

Zimbabwe had the potential to become the South Korea of Africa and we have buffoons like Mugabe and Mnangagwa holding the whole nation to ransom. And we do not even have the common sense to put an end to this insanity, even after 44 years!

“Don't trouble yourself because you don't vote live it to us who vote and we know where we are going, stay there in London.”

There are millions of Zimbabweans now in the diaspora are they all being banished never to return to Zimbabwe. Or is this punishment being dished out to me as a special favour? Do I dare ask what crime I have committed to deserve this!!!!

So here we are with a country the textbook case failed state. And anyone who dares to say express his/her mind why we are a failed state is public enemy number one for no other reason than that he/she has named the untouchable demigod, Nelson Chamisa. No wonder we are a failed state!

Well for the record, I did not ask your permission to leave Zimbabwe and will never need your permission to return if I so decide. On this matter, you are nothing more than the howling wind to the mountain, the mountain will never ever bow down to it!

I will never allowed myself to be intimidated by the Zanu PF thugs and will certainly not bow down to a village idiot like you. Never!

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have more than our fair share of village idiots and, to crown it all, they have the voice and the vote. You are just one of the millions of village idiots.

“Sei kuona danda riri muziso romumwe uchitadza lions Rori mako, you are the west London idiot talking rubbish while in a foreign country, dzoka tione kuti anotsoropodza here sezvauri kuita you dog cleaner.Yes diaspora have got a lot of people but they don't talk shit as you do.You blame everybody and hate only to believe in yourself what a surrogate man.”

I have said MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one reform in 23 years, the task the people of Zimbabwe has elected the to do. If it is rubbish, as you say, then name the reforms they have implemented. You and your howler monkey friends have failed to name any implemented reforms because they are none.

Zanu PF has continued to blatantly rig elections because not only has MDC/CCC sold out on reforms but have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

It is not so much that what I have said is rubbish but rather that you cannot bear to hear that MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent. You are village idiot, whose brain has ossified into fat and is now impermeable to reason, truth and detail. The mountain of evidence of MDC/CCC leaders selling out, Zanu PF rigging elections, etc. all mean nothing to you. Chamisa is an infallible demigod who can do no wrong and you start frothing and fuming from mouth, nose and every other orifice on your body to hear your demigod dismiss not only as a mere mortal but a corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless one!

Of course, it is a great pity that Zimbabwe has more than her fair share of village idiots like you and their have a voice and a vote! It is the village idiots on both sides of the political divide who have kept the Zanu PF buffoons and MDC/CCC sellouts in power all these last 44 years.

44 years after independence and we are still failing to hold free and fair elections. Zimbabwe is not getting out of this hell-hole as long as there is a significant number of our electorate remains village idiots who are easily conned into participating in flawed elections which chicken breast and chips and/or oxymoronic promises like “I have plugged all vote rigging loop holes. God is in it!”

  6. What is OK? That MDC/CCC sold out and Zanu PF continues to rig elections? But what else could you have said Kuntakinte, you are a village idiot and all you have ever done is howl nonsense!

Poor, poor Zimbabwe; the country is in serious, serious trouble and all its electorate can do is howl OK! OK! OK! They have done so for 44 years and counting and these howler monkeys know nothing else other than howl!

Zimbabwe is once again under the spotlight for the wrong reasons. Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) condemns the recall of CCC elected members!

IPU has called for reinstatement of recalled CCC leaders. Does this mean IPU consider 2023 elections were free, fair and credible and this Zanu PF regime is legitimate or they are cherry picking CCC as the only ones who are legitimate?

We should be clear what we want: this regime is illegitimate and that is the elephant in the room.

  10. Zimbabwe is a failed state and the tragedy is many do not enough know it. For 44 years and counting the nation has been sinking deeper and and deeper into the abyss and yet those exercising absolute power, Zanu PF, have been celebrating failure pretending its is success. Those entrusted the duty to implement reforms and end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance have been content with helping Zanu PF stay in power for a share of the spoils of power. And the masses, who have no clue what is going on are patiently waiting for change when all signs are things are getting worse.

    Is Zimbabwe a hopeless situation?

What matters is that he is enjoying absolute power and is dragging the whole nation into the abyss. Meanwhile we are all wringing our fingers helplessly. The question is are we really helpless or we have convinced ourselves that we are?

Mnangagwa blatantly rigged the 2023, just as Zanu PF has done ever since the country's independence in 1980, once again denying the ordinary Zimbabweans any meaning say in the governance of the country. Mnangagwa is enjoying absolute power, the country has been sinking deeper and deeper into the economic and political abyss these last 44 years and yet it is clear he has no clear what to do.

"Muchadya cheziya! Those who do not work must not eat!" argued Mnangagwa.

How stupefyingly infuriating; the buffoon has seized absolute power, holding the nation at ransom, and has the chutzpah to blame the millions now living in abject poverty victims for not working hard!

What have we done to deserve this and, more significantly, are we a lost cause!

  12. The irony is many people are wring their fingers feeling helpless when they have the power, if only they know it and how to exercise it!

“So you want those who do not work to eat.”

Zanu PF ruling elite have then farms, mansions, fleet of posh cars, etc., etc.; all from looting. So is looting now the new "hard working”?

What is shocking here that even after 44 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and tyrannical rule anyone with even half a brain would still pretend Zimbabwe is anything else but a failed state. But then, we have more than our fair share of braindead and they have the voice and the vote as we can see!

  14. @ Benji

Stop talking nonsense! Who elected Mnangagwa? Both SADC and AU said the 2023 elections were flawed and illegal! If Mnangagwa has achieved all these things then why is Zimbabwe a failed state unable to provide even the most basic needs such as education and health care!

“If someone works hard over years nothing can and must stop them from building mansions or doing what they please with their money. Can you kindly share with me empirical evidence on the looting part.”

What did the Mugabes do to pay for the US$ 3-4 billion Blue Roof Mansion, the 12 farms for Bona, mansions in Dubai, etc., etc.?

You must be the only one who has not watched the Al Jazeera Good Mafia documentary. Not that watching it would change anything in your case! For it is not all who see who perceive, who hear and understand. The gift of comprehension has escaped many because their brains have ossified into fat!

This is to be expected after all Zanu PF itself has murdered over 40 000 innocent Zimbabweans since 1980 to establish and retain the de facto one party dictatorship. There is no freedom or rule of law in Zimbabwe. The lawlessness in state house has been copied and replicated in the rest of the nation down to the family home.

“Now, there is the case of Nelson Chamisa. He took the opposition MDC-T by storm when Tsvangirai passed on just before the 2018 elections, virtually robbing the party leadership from his seniors, Thokozani Khupe and Elias Mudzuri. Chamisa went on to become the most popular opposition leader after Tsvangirai in post-independence Zimbabwe, putting Zapu’s Joshua Nkomo aside, of course.
He ran against Mnangagwa in 2018 and lost narrowly, officially. He challenged his loss at the courts and lost. But that’s mainly because his house was fatally disorganised, choosing to playing more to the gallery than to do serious legal business. In 2023, he stood again against Mnangagwa. He lost again but still enjoyed multi-million support.
Frustrated after making decisions such as leading a constitution-less and structure-less entity that made his party leak like a sieve, resulting in small names taking over the show, Chamisa—without any warning or consultations—resigned from his own CCC party in January this year.
There is talk about a new movement that he is likely to lead, the so-called Blue Movement—after quitting CCC. Informatively, Chamisa has not made his intentions public. All we are now hearing is this yarn about two of his protégés, Amos Chibaya and Gift Siziba, moving around trying to re-mobilise people around Chamisa as their godfather is busy on X rewriting verses from the King James version of the bible.
There are other shocking cases in which Chamisa has gone to bed with Zanu PF for the money. Numerous years ago, he went into a commercial venture with Gushungo Holdings where he was providing transport to the late Mugabe’s farm.
From dawn to dusk, Chamisa would lambast Mugabe as a cruel dictator that he was. From the fall of darkness, he would then commute to the Blue Roof to collect his dues from the dictator.
If you lack principles to that extent, you can do anything for the sake of silver.
And, hey, my own eyes and ears have picked that, when Chamisa was severely assaulted at the then Harare International Airport in 2007 on his way to Brussels on parliamentary business, that had nothing to do with the politics.
Instead, my sources have insisted all these years, it was because of a gold deal with a prominent Zanu PF stalwart that had gone sour and this politician, now leaving in exile, used the cover of the volatile politics to get his own back.
Point is, if it is true that Chamisa has been bought out by Mnangagwa, we might just as well kiss him goodbye.
He would rather be chowing those rumoured millions. If he returns, that would only be for the optics, otherwise he is as dead as a dodo.”

A very good and juicy read, thank you.

Chamisa did not lose the 2018 Constitutional Court challenge of the election results “mainly because his house was fatally disorganised, choosing to playing more to the gallery than to do serious legal business.” It was all a calculated political move designed to deceive the naive and gullible into believing the challenge was genuine and sincere in seeking political change.

If MDC/CCC leaders had ever been sincere in their efforts to implement reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship then they would have implemented the democratic reforms during the GNU. The failed to implement even one token reform in five years!

The tragedy for Zimbabwe is that the MDC/CCC leaders have been running with the povo hare and hunting withy the Zanu PF hounds ever since the GNU, at least, and the people have yet to wake up to this reality. Zimbabwe is a failed state and desperately needs competent opposition leaders who will finally implement the reforms if we are ever to get out of this hell-hole.

You are entitled to your opinion, if you think ED is a great leader, that is your view. What you must accept is that others too are entitled to their opinion. By rigging last year's elections Mnangagwa denied the people of Zimbabwe a meaningful say on whether they wanted him to lead or not, a meaningful say in the governance of the country. This is the heart of this matter.

Zanu PF has always believed that it has the divine right to govern the country. And Zimbabwe is in this mess precisely because the nation is stuck with this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical; regime for 44 years and counting. This madness must be stopped. No one has the right to deny other a meaningful say in the governance of Zimbabwe. No one!

To rig the elections and then start pointing out what ED has achieved is pointless since we cannot change that even if the so-called achievements are lies. “Kuyeuka bako mvura yapera!” (Remembering the cave after the storm has passed!) After 44 years of rigged elections, we should be smart enough to stop repeating the same idiotic mistake - stop the curse of rigged elections!

FOCUS! Benji, even a dimwit like you should know by now that the number one challenge is restoring the right of every Zimbabwean to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and not to be complaining about misrule when it is too late to do anything about it!

  21. @ Benji

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have failed to hold free, fair and credible elections and nothing to do with the sanctions! Are you saying Zanu PF has the right to rig elections and deny Zimbabweans their basic right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country because the West imposed sanctions. What has the ordinary people to do with the West?

"What's your solution? We are tired of your endless regurgitating about Zim's failed state. What's your value proposition? What do you want us to do?"

So you are nauseated by my saying Zimbabwe is a failed state but not by the reality that it is indeed a failed state because I have offered no solution to end the reality! Only an idiot would believe that makes sense.

I am reminding you that Zimbabwe is a failed state because he have corrupt and incompetent leaders. And that we elect competent leaders.

You do not want to even admit Zimbabwe is a failed state because you have your head in the backside of your political party leaders. Admitting Zimbabwe is a failed state is tantamount to admitting your great leaders are corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless. Well they are corrupt and useless!

“The problems of Zimbabwe are well documented. We need not dwell much on this. We must be solutions oriented. So what's your solution.”

And the solution you are offering is to silence anyone who has dared to say your leaders a corrupt and incompetent just for the purpose of stifling debate and the truth!

One of the problems Zimbabwe is in this mess is because we have village idiots like you who are stifling debate and the truth because they cannot bear face the truth. I have offered solutions here, but you have ignored that because it is not solutions you want. You are just using that as cover for silencing all those who dare speak the truth.

You are no different from the Zanu PF thugs who have stifled debate under the pretext all those critical of Zanu PF are puppets of the West!

Enough of this bullshit! Neither you nor the Zanu PF thugs have the right to stifle debate and the truth. Freedom of expression does not mean you lot dictating to others what they can say. Even those who are offering no solutions have a right to be heard!

“Urikureva here kuti opposition party ikahwina ndopega paunoti ma elections were free fair and credible. Election ikahwiniwa ne zanu pf inenge yaitwa rigged.”

Elections are judge free, fair and credible on the basis of the process being free, fair and credible and not on who won or lost. The 2023 elections could not be judged free and fair given there was no verified voters’ roll, voters were frogmarched to attend and vote for Zanu PF, etc., etc.

Forget Chamisa’s claim he had plugged all vote rigging loop holes, it was idiotic nonsense to justify why CCC was participating in flawed elections and to hide the real reasons for doping so were greed and incompetence. Chamisa did not even deploy elections agents at all polling stations even though he had received the funds to do so!

MDC/CCC leaders have not only sold out on implementing reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections, they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. MDC/CCC is Zanu PF team B in all but name, playing to ensure Zanu PF team A wins and has legitimacy.

It is a great pity that many Zimbabweans have been slow to realise this political reality of MDC/CCC selling out. But this is hardly surprising given many of them do not even know what constitute free, fair and credible elections!
