"Has MDC/CCC failed the people of Zimbabwe?" asked BBC HardTalk. Sikhala was too dumb to admit it. W Mukori

I had heard in advance that Zimbabwe’s opposition leader, Job Sikhala, will be on BBC HardTalk. I did not want to miss it. I would not have missed much if I did!

Let’s just say Sikhala had his half-hour on the “premier league” media stage and he wasted it!

Stephen Sackur: Why has Zimbabwe’s main opposition party, CCC, collapsed in such a spectacular way? Should we blame Chamisa for creating a party that did not have a constitution? Or should we blame Zanu PF because Chamisa said the ruling party infiltrated CCC and he would not swim in a river full of hungry crocodiles?

Job Sikhala: Mnangagwa has expertise in infiltrating and destroying other political parties? This did not start today and went on and on — — — — -

SS: We do not have the time to go through the whole history of Zimbabwe politics since independence. Please address this question: Do you think the opposition has failed the people of Zimbabwe who are facing so many serious economic and political challenges?

JS: What is in the mindset of the people of Zimbabwe is the opposition. They despise and loth Zanu PF. - - - - And he once again took off on yet another tangent.

Zimbabwe is a failed state; 44 years under this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship has taken a heavy toll on the nation economically, socially and politically.

Still, it must be said, the Zanu PF dictatorship would have never lasted all those the 4 decades if the country’s opposition leaders had implemented the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections as promised. Morgan Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC friends failed to implement even one reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they had the best chance ever to do so.

Robert Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and, in return, Tsvangirai and company forgot about the reforms. Not even the nagging by SADC to implement reforms got the MDC leaders to budge an inch.

And even since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders, including Mr Job Sikhala, have participated in flawed elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging and that participating would give the regime legitimacy. Still they participated, even conned the public to do the same, out of greed; as David Coltart a senior MDC/CCC leader admitted.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“Has MDC/CCC failed the people of Zimbabwe?” The simple and honest answer is, yes. But Job Sikhala nor many of his fellow opposition leaders will ever admit it; they are too dumb to ever realise they are corrupt and incompetent, much less correct it, and hence the reason they continue to blunder from pillar to post!

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have failed to hold free and fair elections these last 44 years. The problem is the same and the solution too except we have failed to to take the medicine - implement the reforms and stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

Which one would you rather have, that I say nothing about reforms and have yet another rigged elections in 2028. Or make sure reforms are on the national agenda and we finally cure ourselves of this disease of rigged elections and bad governance.

After 44 years of rigged elections and the nation in deep, deep trouble; this is an easy choice for me! Reforms will remain on the national agenda until we have free, fair and credible elections. Only village idiots would want reforms off the national agenda and allow this insanity of bad governance to continue; it would be irresponsible of me to listen to village idiots!

“Ko dambudzo ati aita chii in his 43yrs of politics?”

That is precisely the point, Mnangagwa and Zanu PF would not still be in power today if MDC leaders had kept their promise and implemented the democratic reforms when they had the golden opportunity to do so during the GNU. And ever since the GNU debacle MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship.

You have no clue that Zimbabweans have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders to implement reforms and after 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, MDC leaders have failed to implement even one token reforms. The penny has not dropped that Chamisa and company have sold out on reforms. The big question is whether it will ever drop!

  3. I have criticised MDC/CCC leaders for failing to implement the democratic reforms in 23 years including the GNU. So you think Zanu PF too are displeased that MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections? So Zanu PF is now fighting to have competent opposition who will implement the reforms so we can finally have free elections? The sheer stupidity of your arguments beggars belief!

"Your problem is u don't have another plan or option on how to remove Zanu."

And you think MDC/CCC have a better plan by selling out on reforms and participating in rigged elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy? What a dimwit!

All those who hold public office are accountable to the people, you can call it hatred if you wish. Chamisa and company sold out on reforms and they must be held to account. Chamisa conned the public into participating in flawed elections only to give Zanu PF legitimacy. They must account for this - that is not negotiable!

We all want a "better Zimbabwe", many have come to the right conclusion that there will never be a "better Zimbabwe" as long long as Zanu PF continues to enjoy the carte blanche powers to rig elections and stay in power. After 44 years of Zanu PF rigging the elections we have clearly not made any progress in stopping Zanu PF rigging elections. None!

    WHY?

In this world progress often depends on one this and one thing only: understand what you can do (as contrast to what you want to do) and having the courage and determination to do it!

Zanu PF is NOT going to implement ant reforms and reform itself out of office - that is obvious (at least it should be obvious - but then common sense is not so common). Some one else must implement the reforms.

MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU; they are clearly not to the task - that too should be obvious , but ….!

We need to elect competent opposition leaders who will implement the reforms and not sellout to Zanu PF! Again that should be obvious but it is NOT, not to the MDC herd who believe Chamisa is an infallible demigod. A mere mortal, a demigod! No wonder we are stuck!

We need to think outside the box. We need to elect competent opposition leaders!

Why is talking about what we did wrong so that we can avoid making the same mistakes over and over again irrelevant?

If what happened last year, Chamisa conning the public to participate in flawed elections is history and therefore irrelevant, then please tell us what is relevant?

Is it possible that you just do not want Chamisa and company held to account? They are untouchables!

This is just a stupid argument! Are you saying Chamisa was right in participating in flawed elections , so flawed Zanu PF was certain to win and knowing that by participating CCC would give Zanu PF legitimacy. Surely it must be obvious to even a village idiot that CCC must have had some other reason to participate. And they did, Coltart admitted it, if the village idiot could not figure it out!

Only a village idiot would still pretend that CCC were doing the nation a great favour participating in flawed elections - admittedly we have millions of them!

“Eleven Presidential candidates, nanga nanga naChamisa aaaah. Even the so called "Village idiots" have a better reasoning capacity than this.”

So unless I hold each and everyone of the eleven presidential candidate to account I MUST not hold any of them, especial the special one, your UNTOUCHABLE, INFALLIBLE AND DEMIGOD CHAMISA CHETE CHETE, to account.

I do not have to remind you it was Chamisa who said CCC will win big and claimed he had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes. And you still believed the idiot does not have to account for that blatant lie?

Your blind adoration of a mere mortal like Chamisa who has already proven that he is corrupt and incompetent is the number one reason Zimbabwe is a failed state. The country has no hope of ever having a health and function democracy with such nincompoops for electorate. None!

Not only do you believe Chamisa’s idiot lies, you also believe he is an infallible demigod and are given to fuming and frothing at all those who refuse to follow your blind devotion example! What a nincompoop!

“Pamwe nhohwa muchiti anebhira ndiye ano makwa saka hasisina here bhora Chamisa.”

These CCC supporters have the "great leader" mentality, Chamisa is a great leader who should not be held to account by a mere mortal, period. They will come up with all manner of feeble excuses why Chamisa must not be held to account. "He was one out of eleven!" is the excuse the nincompoop came up with today. If it is not one thing it is another.

We should be discussing the consequences of participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and not wasting time on whether or not Chamisa is accountable. But with nincompoops like Bishop we are stuck. Zimbabwe desperately needs to get out of this hell-hole and nincompoops are hold the nation to ransom!

Enough is enough! we really need to put the village idiots in their place! All those who hold public office are accountable and no one is untouchable. We cannot have village idiots dictating who is accountable and who is not.

    “A heap of little shit.”

So do you think Chamisa's claim that he had plugged all the vote rigging loop hole, was truck load of bullshit? Worse still, the consequences of participating in those elections was to give Zanu PF legitimacy landing the whole nation into this shit-hole. How anyone can fail to see that beggars belief! But then, it explains why we are a failed state.

You cannot bear to have Chamisa held to account for conning the nation to keeping Zanu PF in power and thus perpetuating the dictatorship. You are a nincompoop and want everyone else to follow your example!

We have some village idiots in Zimbabwe and, worst of all, they have the vote!

"We are the Police, we are the Army, we are everything. We determine everything!" said Mnangagwa. The sheer arrogance of the tyrant is insufferable!

SADC, AU and even our own ZHRC election observers condemned Zimbabwe's August 2023 elections as flawed and illegal. Mnangagwa and Zanu PF were not elected by the people of Zimbabwe in a free, fair and credible elections and, per se, this regime is illegitimate! So from whom did Mnangagwa get the mandate to determine everything?

Zimbabwe is a failed state because country has failed to hold free and fair elections these last 44 years. Enough is enough! The cup is full to overflow. We must implement the democratic reforms and cure ourselves of the double curse of rigged elections and bad governance!

  15. United States economist Steve Hanke has derided Zimbabwe's latest currency introduction, the ZiG, asserting that the country's monetary policies resemble a merry-go-round. The ZiG, purportedly backed by gold according to Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor John Mushayavanhu, replaced the depreciating RTGS and Bond Notes.

Beginning at a 1:1 exchange rate with the US dollar upon its inception in 2016, the value of these notes plummeted to an alarming 1:25,000 by the time of their demonetization last week. Despite efforts to stabilize the currency, progress has been elusive.

"Zimbabwe has launched yet another new currency – the ZiG – marking the sixth attempt in the last decade," remarked Hanke. "While the ZiG is touted to be backed by gold, the critical question remains unanswered: Where is the gold? In the realm of the ZiG, uncertainty prevails."

Hanke's remarks suggest Zimbabwe's monetary strategy is akin to a zigzag, lacking in consistency and direction. As a distinguished Professor of Economics at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Hanke has consistently criticized Zimbabwe's monetary policies, expressing skepticism towards President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube, and the RBZ's decision-making.

Zimbabwe is a failed state governed by a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF regime that has a managed to stay in power these last 44 years thanks to the help from its equally corrupt incompetent and utterly useless opposition MDC/CCC side-kick.

What Zimbabwe needs is a competent opposition who will implement the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections and thus end the curse of rigged elections and bad governance!

“WHEN THE KITCHEN GETS HOT, THEY  UNCEREMONIOUSLY BOLT OUT: FIRST IT WAS NELSON CHAMISA, NOW IT'S TENDAI BITI, WHO IS NEXT?

The recent state of the conduct of leadership ranks in the Zimbabwean political opposition is unprecedented in the country's political history.

Just last January, Nelson Chamisa bolted out and abandoned the presidency of his CCC faction founded under a 4-page constitution which made him synonymous with the party and its sole convenor and chief administrator, with no deputy and with no succession provisions. His sudden departure effectively meant the dissolution of his CCC by operation of law, notwithstanding the fact that there are some political vultures like Jameson Timba who are currently trying to find rotten meat from Chamisa's dissolved CCC carcass.”

“When the kitchen gets hot, they unceremoniously bolt out!” Well that is funny, very funny, indeed!

Professor Jonathan Moyo, you must realise that the joke is on you too . You have been holed up in Kenya these last six years after you too were force to bolt out Zimbabwe’s hot kitchen - with AK47 rifle gun fire the kitchen had become an inferno!

Indeed, the hell fires of 15 November 2017 were burning so fiercely that it was not only you, professor, who were forced to escape in your birthday suit, literally. There was something of a scattering of Africa!

The ZiG is doomed to fail just as the many Zimbabwe currencies before it have failed because the economic and political fundaments that undermine the Z$ in the past are still there.

Zimbabwe's greatest curse is that we are stuck with a Zanu PF regime that has enjoyed absolute power and is accountable to no one because it rigs elections. In its arrogance the regime believes it can defy all the laws of thermodynamics and get away with it. We, the people are the ones who have and are paying dearly for Zanu PF's recklessness and idiotic arrogance.

How long are we going to allow Zanu PF to ride roughshod over our hopes and dreams. For it is in our power to implement the reforms and end the curse of rigged elections. MDC/CCC have sold out on reforms and it is in our power to find opposition leaders who will implement the reforms.

  20. President Emmerson Mnangagwa has staunchly defended the newly launched gold-backed ZiG currency, asserting that it exemplifies his government's commitment to harnessing national resources. Mnangagwa made these remarks during the commissioning of the Pickstone Peerless Mine Underground Mining Project in Mashonaland West Province.

His statement comes in the wake of criticism surrounding the introduction of the new currency, with some labeling it a failure.

"The decision to anchor our currency with our gold and strategic mineral reserves underscores the resolve of the Second Republic to utilize the assets of our nation, Zimbabwe, to propel our journey towards achieving sustainable economic autonomy and sovereignty," stated Mnangagwa.

"As we advance in the development of our beloved nation, it is imperative that we take pride in our distinctive Zimbabwean heritage, which includes our minerals and our currency," he added.

This is the stuff nightmare are made of. Whilst we, the ordinary people, who have suffered the consequence of Zimbabwe’s hyperinflation all these last 44 years and are desperate to see this end, are saying the ZiG is doomed to fail for obvious reasons. The economic and political fundamentals behind the hyperinflation in the past are still there.

The ruling elite, who have continued to benefit from whatever is happening including the hyperinflation, are insisting the ZiG will be a great success.

What makes this a nightmare is that the ruling elite will win whether or not the ZiG fails. Povo will suffer greatly if the ZiG fail and are powerless to do anything about it. The root cause of this injustice is that the ruling elite have usurped the people’s right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country.

By blatantly rigging the elections Zanu PF thugs have arrogated to themselves the dictatorial powers to rig elections, to deny the people their right to free and fair elections. No one, absolutely no one, has the divine right to rule the country; all power and authority to govern must be derived from the people in a free, fair and credible elections.
Until we restore democratic accountability, the people’s right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country, there will be no justice or good governance. It is typical of tyrant the think they can achieve justice, economic prosperity anything they want by declaring that is is so.

Mnangagwa rigged the 2023 elections his resolve to pretend the elections were free, fair and credible has not change the reality on the ground. His decree that the ZiG will be stable will not stop the ZiG devaluing under pressure from the country’s hyperinflation.

    A million dollar question..

    By Akson Potera

Will the 2023 election make any difference if the referee is also a player?

If indeed the opposition had been winning the election since 2000 to 2018 but failed to take the reins of power, what will be the difference between the previous elections and that of 2023?

Unless the opposition admits that they were lying that they had won the past elections, I don’t think the 2023 election will be different from other elections since the same deceivers are still on duty 24/7.

The opposition must come clear how will the very important vote be protected from theft?

If it is true that the loser is always walking out of the race (as) the winner then this is a grim cause for concern.

Kana une mhinduro usa tsamwa pindura mubvunzo ti protecte vote yedu.”

None of these questions are “million dollar” questions; these are stupid questions!

MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token democratic reform to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections, even when they had the golden opportunity to implement them during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Worse still, ever since the GNU debacle they have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. The MDC leaders themselves have admitted it.

And so the claim that “opposition had been winning the election since 2000 to 2018 but failed to take the reins of power,” can only be made by someone who totally confused and irrational. We have just establish above that MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement even one token reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Is the idiot saying MDC/CCC were winning rigged elections?

The opposition winning rigged elections and then failing to take power is, per se, a nonsensical oxymoron. Just as free and fair election cover the whole electoral process, winning rigged elections must cover the whole electoral process. One cannot win rigged elections and then failing to take power. It is stupid to plug the vote rigging loop holes then forget to plug the power hand over loop holes too!

Implementing the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections meaning making sure all the state institutions, the Police, ZEC, Judiciary, etc. all carry out their duties to ensure free and fair elections.

"Zanu PF will blame sanctions, the opposition, everyone else except itself for the country's economic and political problems," said Tendai Biti. He was right. However when he was asked why the opposition has left the nation down by failing to end the Zanu PF dictatorship he too blamed everyone else except himself and his MDC/CCC friends!

Let's be very clear here; Zimbabweans have risked livelihood, limbs and many have lost their very lives in electing MDC/CCC leaders into power on the promise they would bring about democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Zanu PF rigged the 2023 elections because Biti and company not only sold out on reforms but have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed!

  24. Biti said Zanu PF accused everyone else, especially the West and the opposition, for the country's problems - everyone except the real culprit, Zanu PF.

When he was asked if MDC/CCC had let down the nation, he too blamed everyone else, especially Zanu PF and povo. Everyone except the real culprit himself and his fellow MDC/CCC friends. Of course, they sold out by failing to implement even one token reform and in participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. They even conned povo to participate in flawed election promising CCC would win big because they had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes.

The real tragedy here is that povo has remained ignorant, naive and gullible and thus easily conned again and again and again. Why povo have failed to wake up to the reality that MDC/CCC leaders have been running with the povo hare and hunting with the Zanu PF hounds in broad day light, given they have failed to implement even one reform in 23 years, underlines just how ignorant and naive we are!

Democracy can only function when a significant number, at the very least, of the electorate are citizen with the commonwealth interest at heart. In Zimbabwe the overwhelming majority of the electorate are idiots or tribesman whose loyalty is to the individual or the tribe respectively.

Whilst the ancient Greeks were keen to educate the idiots and tribesman to make them citizens, in Zimbabwe the Zanu PF and MDC/CCC ruling elite have actively encourage their supporters to view the party as their tribe and leaders as their demigods who must be worshiped. It is little wonder these supporters have found it impossible to hold their leaders to democratic account.

The great leader mentality has been infused into the psych of many Zimbabweans burning it out to make them citizens will not be easy.
