Zimbabwe’s political system is a rat race and antagonists' trump cards are betrayal and deception. W Mukori

Zimbabwe’s political system is not a caucus race but a rat race!

A caucus race according to Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland,”!

“After swimming around in Alice's pool of tears, the animals need to dry off, and The Dodo recommends a caucus race. There are no rules; all of the participants run haphazardly around in no particular direction, and everyone wins.”

At least the caucus race had a beginning, an end and a purpose - an unusual one admittedly - to dry off.

Zimbabwe politics is best described as a rat race in which the main political leaders talk endlessly about their “vision”; Zimbabwe is locked in perpetual election mode! The primary purpose of these never ending Sermon on the Mount visions is to confuse the ignorant and gullible electorate by setting them in the vaguely defined future. The mirage serves the double purpose of getting the gullible public to focus on a brighter tomorrow to take the attention away from their present miseries . And so the leaders have never ever had to acknowledge much less held to account for the many broken promised and unfulfilled visions.

Last week it was Mnangagwa in Dakar Senegal who told the Zimbabweans and the world at large that from next year onward Zimbabwe will be producing enough wheat to meet the nation’s needs with surplus for export; come the severest El Nino come La Nina! The country will build dams, install irrigation plant and will have factories to produced all the fertiliser!

He did not want to be questioned on why Zimbabwe once upon a time the bread basket of the region had lost this laurel under Zanu PF rule? And no doubt, would have stormed out of the country in a huff is any journalist had questioned him on why both AU and SADC election observers had condemned Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections as flawed and illegal.

Mnagagwa had promised to hold free, fair and credible elections when he took over from his mentor Robert Mugabe following the military coup of November 2017. Here was a promise - no, an obligation - he was duty bound to honour but failed to because he wanted to retain absolute power to himself and his fellow Zanu PF cronies for selfish reasons.

Today it Nelson Chamisa’s turn to proclaim his mirage vision!

“My vision and mandate is to RADICALLY TRANSFORM Zimbabwe into a fully developed and advanced modern nation,” proclaimed Chamisa from the highest ant-hill he could find!

He envisioned “a Zimbabwean democracy that is robust, transparent, and accountable, where the voices of all citizens are heard and respected.”

Yeah right! And he would achieve by winning “big” rigged Zanu PF elections as he promised to do last year! “I have plugged all Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes.” he insisted. “God is in it!”

All nonsense, of corse! Chamisa and company were hell bent on participating in the 2023 elections knowing fully well Zanu PF was rigging, that participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy but still they persisted because they also knew that Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate in numbers. And they found the bait irresistible.

The plugging the vote rigging loop holes bulls**t was to hide the real reason for participating was greed. The tragedy is many Zimbabweans, nearly two million according to ZEC declared results, believed the bulls***t and participated in the flawed elections to give the election process some modicum of credibility and giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

The nearly two million who voted for Chamisa have not even had the chance to ask him why CCC had failed to win last year, as he had promised. They have never asked why MDC/CCC had failed to implement even one token democratic reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and yet this was the number task the opposition was elected to do these last 23 years including the 5 years in the GNU!

The rat race of Zimbabwe politics does not allow the voters time to ask any searching question much less hold the leaders to account. There is no time for that - the leaders see to it that there is no time for it as the voters are whipped up into one political stampede after another.

“#AccleratedTransformation” Chamisa signed off!

On the ground the only accelerated transformation in Zimbabwe is the economic meltdown and political chaos. Mnangagwa’s number one priority is not to feed the nation but to consolidate his own hold on power through political patronage and so corruption and mismanagement have gone into overdrive accelerating the economic meltdown. The price of one crystal sweet is Z$ 400, in keeping with Zimbabwe’ runaway hyperinflation which is now over 2 000%.

Zimbabwe’s present political system, this rat race, has produced corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless leaders; not the quality leaders the nation needs to prosper. We need a reality check; we must reject the failed system and end the 44 years of madness, of being dragging deeper and deeper into the abyss. Both Mnangagwa and Chamisa, Zanu PF and CCC have nothing of value to offer this nation. Nothing!

This is as it should be unlike some buffoon who are in office because they other staged a coup or rigged elections. The prospect of Zanu PF rigging the 2028 elections are real, especially now that CCC has imploded and the voters are too ignorant and naive to realise what is going on here! This idiotic belief that Zanu PF has the divine right to govern must be condemned with the contempt it rightly deserves!

“Can we also it in Zimbabwe kune makunguwo akaita sewe asingadi chakanaka bullshit.”

How did I spot democratic change in Zimbabwe?

It is village idiots like you who are stifling meaningful debate and inquire into why Zimbabwe is a failed state. You were conned into participating in flawed elections last year and would not listen to the warning that Chamisa was lying and that participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy, for example. What I warned against is exactly what has happened and you are so stupid you are not only refusing to accept you were wrong but have chutzpah to blame me it happened!

Zimbabwe’s greatest misfortune is that there are millions of village idiots just like you out there who continue to sheepishly follow Chamisa. A healthy and functioning democracy demands that the electorate must be educated, knowledgeable and diligent to hold those in power to democratic account. We have millions so ignorant and naive they were conned into participating in flawed elections because they believed Chamisa had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes even when the upstart did not have the common sense to deploy election agents at all polling stations even when he had the funding for it!

With village idiots for voters, it is little wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state and is doom to remain a failed state as long as idiots like you have the vote! You and your fellow village idiots are Zimbabwe’s greatest problem because it is you who, in your stupidity, are keeping the buffoons like Mnangagwa and Chamisa in power!

    Detail matters! Detail is everything!

The primary purpose the nation has risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders into power was to implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. After 23 years, including 5 in the 2008 to 2013 GNU, MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one token reform. Worst os all, they have been conning the people to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

If we are going to stop Zanu PF rigging the 2028 elections then we MUST reject the MDC/CCC sell outs and look for competent opposition leaders who will implement the reforms.

  4. Great stuff. The contrast between President Ali and the likes of Mnangagwa could not be more stack. Whilst Guyana is using its natural resources wisely generating vast economic growth, Zimbabwe is squandering her resources through this wholesale looting. What has Zimbabwe to show for the diamonds, gold, etc. If there oil and gas in Muzarabani, it too will benefit the ruling elite!

“Thats very true the opposition has been aiding Zanu to power by participating in elections knowingly the reforms have not been implemented. Sometimes you wonder and suspect they were being paid to do it.”

I have said it before and will say it again, Mugabe bribed Morgan Tsvangirai and company with the trappings of high office; the ministerial limos, the generous salaries and allowances, the US$ 4 m mansion for Save himself, etc. They returned the favour by forgetting about implementing reforms.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” boasted the Zanu PF cronies during the GNU when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing the reforms.

The trouble is the Zimbabwean electorate is ignorant, naive and gullible and so what is obvious to some it a complete system to them. Even after 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, and not even one token reform implemented it still has not occurred to our people that MDC/CCC leaders are not up to the task.

You are one of the very few minority out there “to suspect MDC/CCC are paid” to forget reforms and participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. It will take the nine lives of the cat for some people to see that and meanwhile the country continue to sink into the abyss.

“Your Mkonori knows better. If Ccc a party that was formed yesterday failed why cant he form his own party and show everyone how it is done? Mkonori should not just rant and waffle as if he has a solution. I challenge him to show Zimbabweans that he is better than Chamisa otherwise he should shut the hell up. You can only attack someone if you have a solution.”

You, like so many others out there, have completely missed the point. What matters here is that not only did Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections but SADC could not deny the vote rigging Zanu PF political legitimacy precisely because CCC sold out. Of course, CCC sold out by failing to implement any reforms in 23 years and, worst of all, insisted in participating flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

The problem with fanatical supporters like you is that you have failed to focus on why the nation is in a mess and much less ever admit that CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent. Why anyone would believe Nelson Chamisa is an infallible demigod especially given the mountain of evidence of MDC/CCC blundering incompetence these last 23 years.

MDC/CCC leaders have proven beyond all doubt that they are corrupt and incompetent, acknowledging this reality is the first step in Zimbabwe ending this rot! There are those who refuse to see the reality and want to continue to bury their heads in the sand, the twits are even bullying the rest to do the same. It is high time the national agenda is controlled by reason and logic and not by the lunatics. It is not for me to “shut the hell up”, but you and your idiotic friends to shut up!

“Sadly the OPD members see things differently. Their focus is to scrub the net and share anything that suggest ZANU PF injustices, corruption, and suggestive political dances. When I asked about their strategies to stop such vices, all I got back were insults and abuses.

My conclusion—opposition political parties in Zimbabwe are dead, we need there to be an emergence of very strong and and responsible parties capable of uniting people. These kids running around as opposition forces just because they have access to internet and living in the diaspora are not only clueless, but dangerous.

In my opinion, the worst are those Zimbabweans living in South Africa who think speaking Zulu makes them superior. They have no vision, no mission, no strategy, and they are dishonest. They are so shallow to a point of being a danger to the society.”

The problem in Zimbabwe is we have voters who cannot judge the performance of the individual leaders or the political party because their blind loyalty does not allow them to be rational or listen to reason. How any one could be conning into believing Chamisa’s idiotic claims such as that CCC would win “big” because he had plugged the vote rigging loop holes; beggars belief.

Like it or not, there are millions of Zimbabweans out there who have no clue MDC/CCC were elected to implement democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Even now with the benefit of 23 years of hindsight, they still have no clue.

The bottom line is as long as Zanu PF retains the carte blanche powers to rig elections nothing will change. We need competent opposition leaders who WILL implement the reforms and to keep MDC/CCC leaders out of blind loyalty is insane!

Zimbabweans are failing to see Nelson Chamisa for what he is - a breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent leader - because they cannot separate the individual from the national interests, the ideas from the personality. Even with the benefit of 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, and not even one token reform implemented to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections; still the penny has not dropped that MDC/CCC have failed the nation.

David Coltart admits CCC was never going to deliver a democratic Zimbabwe when the party had failed to embrace democratic values- "prefiguration", as he called it. This was just another half-truth from him!

MDC/CCC has failed to deliver democratic change in Zimbabwe in 23 years, including 5 in the 2008 to 2013 GNU because the party leaders are breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent. He and his colleagues participated in the 2023 elections out of greed.

Now he wants the nation to believe CCC leader can prefigure in the next 4 years - the very thing they have failed to do these last 23 years - to deliver a democratic Zimbabwe in 2028 elections. Of course, he is lying. He is conning us to participate to give Zanu PF legitimacy, he and his friends gravy train seats and to perpetuate the Zanu PF dictatorship - our own suffering. Are we really that dumb that we never learn!

“With due respect the point is let's offer the alternative without an alternative we are at zero point and blaming (blaming anyone is not adding value because we have not added).”

You still do not get it, do you!

Do you think the 2 million or so people who believed Chamisa’s claim that he had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes and participated in last year’s election did so because there was “no alternative?”

They were warned that participating will give Zanu PF legitimacy and that Chamisa was lying to die the real reason why he and his CCC friends were hell bent on participating was greed. Are you suggesting they participated regardless because they had no alternative?

Are you saying MDC/CCC leaders did implement the reforms and therefore they are being falsely accused of selling out on reforms? Or are you saying they did sell out on reforms but it was not their fault they sold out?

In Chamisa and company sold out on reforms, why should they not be held to democratic account?

If CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent they are not fit to hold public office and why are you hot in the collar that it should not be said?

Pointing out the truth, that CCC are corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless is important, and it is for the people to decide what to do with that knowledge. Are you suggesting that no one should ever say the truth unless he/she has an alternative solution?

There are those who have maintained their blinked view that Chamisa is an infallible demigod even when they have failed to name even one reform he implemented in 23 years. They have been arguing that the absence of alternative leaders proves they are right in viewing Chamisa as an infallible demigod - needless to say this is a pathetic argument.

This is not about Chamisa, Mnangagwa, me or anyone else out there; this is about Zimbabwe! It is in Zimbabwe’s national interest that we find competent opposition leaders who will implement the democratic reforms and stop Zanu PF rigging elections - something Chamisa and company have failed to do in 23 years.

“Transparent international estimated that Zimbabwe has lost US$100 billion since independence in 1980!”

We cannot stamp out corruption without first implementing the reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years but worse still they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

2 million Zimbabweans were conned by the opposition to participate in 2023 elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuate Zanu PF looting and our own suffering. How anyone could so dumb and stupid speaks volumes of our electorate.

The primary purpose of the 2008 to 2013 GNU was to implement the democratic reforms, just because you do not know how the reforms were to be implemented does not mean it could not be done.

Here is a quotation from Arthur Mutambara admitted MDC leaders took their eyes off the reform ball.

“As a collective political leadership, we should have taken time to apply our minds to the existential question:

    “What next after the GNU?”
We did not address this matter.
This was suicidal.” confessed Professor Arthur Mutambara in his Book In
Search of the Elusive Zimbabwean Dream, Volume III (Ideas & Solutions)

You have refused to believe MDC sold out on reforms not because it is not a historic fact but because you do not want to believe!

CCC was never going to deliver a democratic Zimbabwe when the party was not itself democratic - prefiguration, as he called it. It is no surprise CCC was doomed to fail given the leaders had already proven by 2013 beyond all doubt that they were corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless.

Coltart and company participated in 2023 elections knowing fully well Zanu PF was rigging and that participating would give the regime legitimacy; they participated regardless out of greed. They conned the public into participating to hide their greed.

Coltart is the opposition can regroup and become a democratic party ready for 2028 elections - prefigure in 4 years into something they failed to be in 23 years. He is just conning povo to once again participate in flawed elections out of greed! 2 million were conned in 2023 and as many will be conned again - some people never learn!

  16. In a bid to address currency volatility and exchange rate-driven inflation badly battering the economy amid entrenched arbitrage, the Zimbabwean government will on Friday launch a "structured currency" which the market has been waiting for to pick the new macroeconomic trajectory.

Zimbabwe, buffeted by economic turmoil for over two decades now, has the highest inflation and one of the lowest valued currency units in the world.

    Kiya kiya!

After independence the ZNA was a very disciplined army the rot set in when Mugabe set up the Joint Operation Command and started bribing the top brass in the security services. Even then the Army did not stop MDC leaders implementing the reforms during the GNU.

What about the DOP, UZA, UANC, NCA, ZCPD, MDC-T, FREEZIM, NPC & ZIPP? Did they also con people to participate in these " flawed and illegal " Elections?
How is it that you never make reference to them in this regard?
Do you exonerate their complicit because of the amount of votes that they got?”

Have the people risked life and limb to elect Zanu PF to implement the democratic reforms? If they have then I totally agree that the nation must hold Zanu PF to account for failing to implement the reforms.

“Nonetheless, all those who study the word of God with any seriousness can easily tell that these church leaders love twisting the scriptures for self-serving ends.

There is no genuine, self-respecting, God-fearing Christian who would actively support, defend, or even campaign for a thieving, murderous, and oppressive ruling establishment.

Nowhere in the Bible did Jehovah God ever command us as believers to do this.

Submitting is merely putting ourselves under the authority of another.

However, this can never mean and has never meant, actually supporting and defending evil leadership.”

If the truth be told one of our worst weakness is our willingness to partake in the suffering of others as long as there is something in it for us! Of course, these church leaders know that these politicians are corrupt, incompetent and murderous tyrants. They know Mnangagwa has systematically denied the ordinary people their right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. They have played their part by making sure their brainwashed church followers vote for Mnangagwa and Zanu PF.

Mnangagwa has dutifully rewarded the church leaders with gifts; motor vehicles, houses, farms, money, lots and lots of money!

Selling out is in the Zimbabwe DNA! Mnangagwa just like Mugabe before him has never had any problem getting Zimbabweans to do his dirty bidding; he only has to dangle the right carrot! All the country’s state institutions, Police, Army, judiciary, parliament, etc. are captured. Mnangagwa has bribed all the key staff in these institutions.

Even the opposition is in Zanu PF’s deep pockets, how else can one explain why MDC/CCC have not only failed to implement even one reform to stop Zanu Pf rigging elections but have been participating in flawed elections to give the regime legitimacy. CCC are Zanu PF team B in all but name, they have been participating in elections no matter how flawed and illegal the process got as long as team A wins and to get legitimacy. A careful balancing act the opposition have been luck to pull off again and again thanks to the brainwashed electorate. They are easily conned; they believe anything!

The ancient Greeks identified three types of people, the idiots, tribesmen and the citizens. The idiots cared about number one, themselves and no one else. The tribesmen cared about their group and no one else. Only the citizens care about the society and realised that peace and prosperity were guaranteed only when society at large is at peace. The citizens saw the bigger picture and only the citizen had the vote.

Granting the vote to idiots and tribesmen alike is one of the reasons why we have failed to produce a healthy and functioning system of government!
