"President Hichilema guided by Zambia interests not those of failed Chamisa." Rightly so too! W Mukori

It is a historic fact that Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends shot themselves in the foot not once but twice in terms of the vaulting ambition of ever wining ruling Zimbabwe. First it was none other than Chamisa and company who insisted in participating in the 2023 election with no reforms. “I have plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop hole,” Chamisa boasted. “God is in it!”

How can anyone believe Chamisa had plugged the vote rigging loop holes when the country did not have something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. Everyone knew he was lying; everyone i.e. except his ignorant and gullible followers who are easily conned and they participated in the flawed elections with their usual blind zeal.

SADC, AU and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC election observers condemned the August 2023 Zimbabwe elections as flawed and illegal. Chamisa and company had the golden opportunity to redeem themselves of the folly of having participated in the flawed elections by refusing to take up the few gravy train seats they had won in the flawed elections. Greed got the better of them again, for it was greed that forced them to participate in the first place; and this was the second time CCC shot themselves in the foot.

Like it or not by taking up their seats CCC were ipso facto endorsing the elections as having been free, fair and credible. The opposition’s argument that the elections were free and fair in those constituencies in which they had won is just nonsense.

The failure to produce a verified voters roll, for example, affected all the constituencies without exception. Even if there were a selection of constituencies in which the election was free, fair and credible; elections must be judged on the basis of the whole and not selected parts.

As much as SADC would have wanted to deny Zanu PF political legitimacy on the basis of the regional body’s own election observer team’s damning report; CCC pulled the rug from under their feet by accepting the gravy train seats.

Instead of acknowledging their own serious shortcoming Chamisa and company are off at a tangent blaming others for their own failures.

“Chamisa and his colleagues are furious over President Hakainde Hichilema's increasingly positive posture towards President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Furthermore, President Hichilema is now pushing for the removal of all sanctions,” reported Bulawayo 24.

"Our contacts in Lusaka say ED and HH phone each other every week. This is dangerous for us and all opposition parties in the region. Hichilema must wake up," said the source.

"Despite the apparent setbacks, Chamisa is finding solace in the assurances he received from his friends within the SADC Secretariat, who told him that they would remain solidly behind him," said the source.

“Several Zambian political analysts have dismissed Chamisa's accusations as hogwash. They reminded Chamisa that Hichilema was not guided by failed foreign opposition leaders but by Zambian interests. They stressed that Hichilema was an African statesman not a leader of some fanciful regional opposition grouping.

“Meanwhile diplomats in Gaborone have dismissed claims that the Zimbabwean opposition has spies within the SADC Secretariat.”

Of course President Hichilema is right in talking his Zimbabwe counter part, President Mnangagwa. It is no secret that President Hichilema endorsed the SADC election observer team’s damning report Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections and would have wanted to see the regional body deny Zanu PF political legitimacy. The reality is, SADC has done nothing and he, being a realist, has accept it and moved on.

Besides what would him stop talking to Mnangagwa accomplish? Nothing! Indeed, it would be very foolish for Zambia to conduct her foreign policy to suit some one as confused, corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless as Nelson Chamisa! Very foolish indeed!

  1. Chaos continues in the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change following the recall of four senators who were sworn in Tuesday after they were chosen by a faction led by Welshman Ncube, Tendai Biti and Lynette Karenyi Konye under the proportional representation qouta.

A letter signed by former Entumbane-Makhandeni lawmaker Dingilizwe Tshuma who claims to be the CCC chairperson working closely with Albert Mhlanga, indicates that the recalled proportional representation senators are Kucaca Phulu, Lilian Mlilo, Linda Sibanda and Collet Ndlovu. Phulu was Tshabangu's attorney.

Speaking to Studio 7 last night, Mhlanga said, "Yes, we had a meeting where we resolved to recall them because Sengezo Tshabangu single-handedly picked former People's Democratic Party members where he belonged with Tendai Biti and Jacob Mafume. We are CCC which was led by Nelson Chamisa so these PDP members never stopped fighting in the party from the days of the late Morgan Tvsangarai who is the former founding president of the Movement for Democratic Change.

The self-destruct gene has been activated, there is no switching it off!

The people of Zimbabwe have risked livelihoods, life and limb to elect opposition that would implement the democratic reforms and stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. After 23 years, MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one reform and have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy. And now the opposition are fighting amongst themselves to the death.

One only hopes that the penny will finally drop in the many empty heads out there that MDC/CCC leaders are, indeed, corrupt and incompetent beyond the pale. And that to get out of the mess we are in, we need to elect competent opposition leaders for a change!

War vets were back fighting for povo's rights and freedoms denied them by the white and then by Mugabe and now Mnangagwa. Why?

Why did the war vets fail to secure these rights and freedoms all these years?

As long as the people continue to be denied a free and meaningful vote, they will remain powerless and helpless. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections with the help of the same war vet and CCC leaders!

  3. Unless the war in Sudan is stopped the country is heading for a serious human tragedy.

This is a tragedy born out of decades of misrule because people have done nothing to restore good governance. Zimbabwe has been dogged by the same decades of misrule and primed for the all out war, suffering and deaths!

  4. Commenting on the burning issue after new reset American targeted measures, Mandaza said:

"Incredible stuff out of the US Embassy in Zimbabwe presser today: inter alia, that 'available evidence'  justifies targeting Mnangagwa, his wife, Tagwirei et al for corruption and criminal activities. As some of us have always requested, please provide concrete evidence of such 'available evidence', including details of their assets outside the country. The citizens of Zimbabwe deserve to know why and how their 'corrupt' leaders are being sanctioned.”

Professor Mandaza knows as well as us all the mountain of evidence that have been produced over the years on vote rigging, corruption, human rights violations, etc., etc. and Zanu PF has closed its eyes and refused to see it. This is a regime that has no respect of truth, facts and rules.

This is a regime that has just blatantly rigged the 2023 elections and swears the elections were free, fair and credible!

The regime’s apologists will be taking up the chorus demanding the evidence to justify targeting Mnangagwa and his wife because they know this is a rabbit hole to entrap the naive and gullible.

“So you think vanhu vanoita zvaunoda iweee just form you own party n do what you think is right tione ukawana even one member zvayo.”

So you think Chamisa formed his own political party and therefore can do as he please? No my friend, he and his friends held public office and per se they are accountable to the public. I know the concept of public accountability is incomprehensible to you but that is your problem not mine.

Holding those in public office to democratic account is an essential element of good governance - some thing Zimbabwe is dying for - and therefore it is none negotiable.

Chamisa and company sold out of reforms and free elections; they will be held to account. Period!

“You still talking things of the past do you think We or He will have time to listen to pple like you??? Why do you waist your time Day dreamer.”

Zanu PF was able to blatantly rig the 2023 elections because MDC/CCC leaders sold out on implementing the democratic reforms and Zanu PF will rig future elections until the reforms are implemented. Why this simple political reality is incomprehensible to people like you is a mystery of mysteries. The tragedy for Zimbabwe is that simpletons like you have the vote.

Both Zanu PF buffoons and corrupt upstarts like Chamisa have relied on your stupidity to keep them in power! Both Mnangagwa and Chamisa benefited from your folly in participating in last year’s flawed elections, for example. The former got political legitimacy and the later remained the leader of Zimbabwe’s main opposition party - until until January when he was forced ti resign from CCC in a huff! None of this make any sense to you, your brain is impermeable to reason and logic!

Giving the right to vote to a simpleton is tantamount to giving a loaded gun to a monkey. The ancient Greeks were right democracy only works when the citizen in educated, informed and diligent in holding those in power to account. Our simpleton citizens are ignorant and so dumb they believe politicians must never be held to account. They have become the self appointed vigilantes harassing and intimidating all those who dare to cross the red line.

“The ruled are innocent. Ask the rulers how they rule foolishly and Why are they doing that.”

The ruled have a duty to ensure they are educated, informed and are diligent in electing quality leaders and are diligent in holding them to account. To be so easily conned into participating in flawed elections to give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and so the corrupt CCC can earn their few gravy train seats reward, for example, is dereliction of one duty by the ruled.

It is unforgivable that after 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, and not even one token reform implemented many Zimbabweans are not only ignorant of MDC/CCC leaders’ treasonous betrayal but are so dumb as to consider Chamisa an infallible demigod! People get the government they deserve, we certainly deserve this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship complete with its entourage of corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless opposition parties.

You can say the ruled are innocent of the mess we are in, if that bring you comfort. The material point is the ruled will continue to pay dearly for the honour of being ruled by buffoons and useless upstarts. The ruled are at the coal face of the failed state whilst the ruling elite are sucking the masses bone-dry of everything. It is cold comfort you are getting here!
