These are not democratic elections but a rat race! Will the penny finally drop as 2023 result come out? W Mukori

“A member of the Chivi South Citizens Coalition for Change [CCC], Mr. Willmore Gwarinda, has filed a police report against Zanu PF members who vandalized his house on the 18th of August, 2023,” reported Wezhira Munya on Change Radio.

“The Zanu PF members destroyed all the windows of the house. The incident of violence occurred in Ward 25, Pedzisai Village.”

The next article was the same s****t different place!

“Zanu PF members have kidnapped and brutally assaulted Mr. Tarusarira Taona [Masadza], a Citizens Coalition for Change [CCC] activist in Bikita West,” reported Wezhira.

“Mr. Tarusarira lost a tooth as a result of a violent attack by a Zanu PF members, who struck him in the mouth with an iron bar.”

This report was accompanied by photographs of the victim’s bruised back and the missing tooth!

This is the political reality in Zimbabwe!

How many similar cases and worse are happening up and down the land and are never reported? How can we pretending this is a free, fair and credible elections or delude ourselves that Chamisa has indeed plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loopholes?

The opposition leaders know that these elections are flawed, that participating will only give Zanu PF legitimacy and still the participate regardless because they also know that Zanu PF is offering a few gravy train seats and the POLAD freebies as bait.

It is interesting to note that if the elections were free, fair and credible and the choice was between Mnangagwa and the donkey, the people would vote for the donkey just to end this Zanu PF dictatorship. Chamisa is far better than a donkey and the only reason why he will lose on Wednesday 23 August 2023 is if the elections are rigged.

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends were elected into power for the primary purpose of implementing democratic changes, as the party’s original name implied, to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Sadly, they have failed to implement even one reform in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU when they had the golden chance to do so.

MDC/CCC leaders have turned out to be corrupt, breathtakingly incompetent and utterly, utterly useless. It is insane to keep participating in flawed elections only to give Zanu PF legitimacy, even for 30 pieces of silver. CCC leaders are insane, “mapenzi chikwinya guvo” as one would say in Shona.

Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections just as it has rigged elections ever since the country’s independence in 1980. This is not a democratic elections, it is a rat race, Tweedledee vs Tweedledum, maZanu Machupeti vs maCCC Mapenzi. Mnangagwa is corrupt, incompetent and stupid (Machupeti) but not that stupid to lose a rat race in which he has carte blanche powers to rig and use violence!

It is for the people to wake up to the reality the MDC/CCC leaders have abandoned implementing reforms and free elections during the 2008 GNU and have settled for giving Zanu PF legitimacy for a share of the spoils of power. CCC have been running with povo hare by day and hunting with the Zanu PF hounds by night!

The people must go back to claiming their right to meaningful elections, to implementing reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections. They are being conned to give up the right to free and fair elections for the dubious hope of winning rigged elections. It is insane to trade gold for fool’s gold especially after 43 years of rigged elections!

By noon Thursday 24 August 2023 the results of the flawed and illegal elections, the rat race, will start to filter through - yet another Zanu PF landslide victory in the parliament and senate and a victory for Mnangagwa in the presidential race. The reality of five more years of this failed Zimbabwe state loom large before the nation; a far cry from the democratic change the nation has been dying for!

Will this be the moment the penny drops and Zimbabweans finally realise they must revert back to demanding reforms and free elections and stop participating in these rat races! One would hopes so but after 43 years of history repeating itself the reality that this is hoping against reason is setting in!

“One thing I like and respect about you is whatever input you put. someone responds mostly challenging you. In short am saying it's great to have a person like you within the group amongst others I shall not mention.
YOU ARE A GROUP PUSHER 🙏”

I wish the consequences of participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy were not extending the life of the failed state and all the human suffering that brings!

The very fact that Zimbabwe is now the textbook case failed state is testimonial to our failure to govern ourselves - there is nothing but shame in this.

  2. Mnangagwa created POLAD to reward the opposition losers who fail to get the few gravy train seats offer to the opposition. Chamisa is competing with the opposition for the gravy train seats more than he is competing with Zanu PF. So one can say POLAD was created to keep CCC on its toes and it is working! CCC was never going to boycott elections and lose the gravy train seats to Madhuku. Never!

  3. Of course these elections are not free, fair and credible. Of course, Zanu PF does not care after all the party knows that CCC and the rest in the opposition camp are participating in these election no matter how flawed or illegal the process get guaranteeing the party's legitimacy.

  4. It has been clear for decades that if the donkey was the only alternative to Mugabe/Mnangagwa in a free and fair election the people will vote for the donkey just to be rid of Zanu PF! The only reason why Zanu PF has managed to remain in power is because the party rigged elections.

Why has MDC/CCC failed to implement even one token reform to stop Zanu PF rigging elections these last 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU? This speaks volumes of the sheer corruption and incompetence of the MDC/CCC leaders.

Chamisa said he has plugged all the loop holes to Zanu PF rigging and violence; we know it was all hot air. We have all the evidence Zanu PF is rigging these elections, by Thursday afternoon we will know for certain.

Why are we allowing CCC and the opposition sell outs drag the nation into the utterly point less rat races only to perpetuate the failed state?

You are the one who is INSANE. It is laughable when the insane call everyone else insane, the devil quoting the Bible. The people of Zimbabwe have been voting in these flawed election and getting the same result - a Zanu PF victory.

SADC tried to get MDC leaders to implement reforms after the watershed 2008 elections, MDC sold out. The EU produced 23 reform recommendations after the 2018 elections; not even one reform was implemented. There is overwhelming evidence that Zanu PF is rigging these 2023 elections; there is, no verified voters’ roll, the intimidation is rampant, etc.

We know Chamisa’s promise to plug all Zanu PF vote rigging and violence loopholes was just hot air.

Of corse, it is insane to participate in these flawed elections just to give Zanu PF legitimacy. It is insane for anyone pretend otherwise!

  7. Zanu PF s rigging these elections and Mnangagwa doesn't care and, tragically, so does CCC!

Zanu PF would lose these elections to a donkey if the elections were free and fair. They are not!

It is insane to participate in these flawed elections just to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

  8. "I have had meetings with SADC, I have briefed them on the challenges we have. I told them that Mnangagwa is not preparing to win, he is plotting to rig," said Chamisa.

"I told SADC that he stole the election in 2018 but this time I will not allow him to steal it again. I told them Zimbabwe is the next SADC chair and they should get ready to welcome me.

"I told them that up to this day, we do not have a voters roll that is searchable. But remember I am a former ICT Minister, we have cracked the PDF format they gave us and now know what they are trying to do, we will not allow them to steal our votes, never.

"I told them that I have not yet seen the ballot paper, We have requested from ZEC that we agree on the ballot, the ink and arrangement. Mnangagwa has already rigged the arrangement (but) even if he rigs the ballot paper he will not win this election.

"I told SADC that we are having a problem with the issue of deployment of postal ballots but my intelligence is telling me the majority of police officers defied their bosses and voted for me. I thank all the police officers.

"I told them we have problems of ghost polling stations where they want to stuff ballot papers but we have managed to ensure a polling agent for every station.

"I have told SADC that Zanu-PF wants to get the presidential result before reporting it to ZEC but once we get the result we will tell the world what we got ourselves, we will not accept that.

"We will have the result by end of the next day."

This is the problem with CCC, they acknowledge vote rigging and violence but insist they are dealing with all these problems. There is a mountain of evidence of these elections are being rigged and of wanton violence. Chamisa’s claim to plug all Zanu PF vote rigging and violence was hot air.

SADC leaders should know just how corrupt and incompetent Chamisa and company are; these are the same individuals who failed to implement even one token reform in five year of the GNU. Clearly nothing has changed, CCC are being their usual corrupt and incompetent selves.

SADC election observers should judge for themselves whether these elections are free, fair and credible and just ignore the boastful CCC! Zanu PF must not be rewarded for rigging these elections by granting the regime political legitimacy.

  9. Zanu PF is happy with the present set up in which the party rigs the elections to ensure majority in parliament and wins the presidency allows the opposition to win the few gravy train seats and reward others with the POLAD freebies to entice them to participate no matter how flawed the process gets.

People like Mliswa, Chamisa, Biti and the rest contesting in these elections are happy with the present set up. They will promise change but never ever deliver. Never.

If we are serious about ending the failed state then we must implement the reforms to ensure free and fair elections. After 43 years of rigged elections we really need to wise up and realise the present system will never deliver reforms, free and fair elections and good governance.

  10. "What will happen if Nelson Chamisa loses in 2023?"I have met this question several times on different social platforms and I think I should respond now.■ Chamisa isn’t fighting for his family, but he is fighting for you and me. If he loses, you and I have lost too.■Chamisa's vote is just single. His vote plus my vote, plus your vote is equal to a people's victory! ■Chamisa is playing his part as a citizen and a leader. Play your part as i play mine and we will win Zimbabwe together!■If Chamisa loses, we would have all lost and we will have to endure another 5years of trauma and uncertainty.■If Chamisa loses, we would have all lost and we shall continue to see Zanu Pf looting! Stop being spectators and play your part as Chamisa plays his duty. Wednesday let’s go and Vote Nelson Chamisa for President.”

If Chamisa loses these elections it will be because Zanu PF rigged the elections. Chamisa said he has plugged all the vote rigging loopholes and was clearly lying.

Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends failed to implement even one reform in 23 years and have been participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the same reasons they failed to implement even one reform - greed and breath-taking incompetence.

It is high time Chamisa and company are held to democratic account!

  11. So you participate in flawed elections knowing that doing so will give Zanu PF legitimacy and when the damage is done you seek to remove the regime from office using street protests - that is really dum!

    ReplyDelete
  12. @ Diamond

“This is true,I see bloodshed soon after disclosure of election results because Zanu will play its usual dirty games. Unfortunately people will not allow that, resulting in serious street violence followed by soldiers killing people in the streets of Harare. This time people are prepared to die,I can see that in advance. They won't allow Zanu to continue privatising our country.”

If Chamisa announce his victory on 24 August as he is threatening to do he would be priming the mob, gun, ready to be fired if ZEC announce anything else. Given MDC/CCC had all the chance to implement the reforms or, at the very least, stop participating in flawed elections out of greed. This will be yet another one of MDC/CCC blunders.

Why give Zanu PF the opportunity to rig elections and grant the regime legitimacy only to seek to remove it from office using street protests? That really is dum! And if anyone is killed then Chamisa et at must be held to account for it!

  13. In a show of bravado, Chamisa said that although the ruling party had tried to stifle him, he was a step ahead of them because even within the state apparatus, there were some who were not happy with the government.

"In the police, I am there; in the army, I am there; I am everywhere. We know what you have been planning," he said.

If Chamisa was ever to get into power and governs the same way he is running CCC, he will be a control freak like Robert Mugabe. He is always boasting about his achievements and yet again and again they have turned out to be nothing. He said he had plugged Zanu PF rigging loopholes and events on the ground shows there is no change.

Zanu PF is rigging these elections! And the nation is going to pay dearly for it.
