“Sunday was a bad day to forget for Amos Chibaya in Bulawayo where he was heckled and rebuffed by an angry CCC crowd, after Advocate Nelson Chamisa sent him there to calm down boiling tensions over CCC's imposition of candidates - for the August 2023 harmonised general election - who either resoundingly lost the party's derided "Bereka Mwana" [queue behind your candidate] community selection caucuses, or who did not even participate in those caucuses,” reported Bulawayo 24.
“The angry CCC crowd Chibaya had gone to address told him to go back and demanded that, instead, Chamisa himself should come to Bulawayo to explain his wanton imposition of candidates in the province, apologise and remove from Bulawayo province the culprits who connived with him to enable the imposition!”
We all make mistakes it is just that with MDC/CCC leaders they seem to blunder from pillar to post. When they failed to implement even one token reform in five years of the 2008 to 2013 GNU, it was more than a mistake; they proved beyond all doubt that they were (and still are) corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent.
It was USA ambassador to Zimbabwe 2004 to 2007, Chris Dell, who said Morgan Tsvangirai, then leader of MDC, “was a flawed and indecisive character who would be an albatross round the nation’s neck if he was ever to assume any public office.”
The ambassador could have said the same of all the other MDC leaders. And, alas, MDC leaders have been in public office for the last 23 years including the 5 years in the GNU. They have not only failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU but, ever since the GNU debacle, they have insisted on participating in flawed elections only to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating the dictatorship.
The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC/CCC leaders into power on the understanding the party would bring about the democratic changes necessary to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Most people had no clue what these democratic changes were, even to this day with the benefit of hindsight, they still have no clue what they are much less how they were to come about. And so many Zimbabweans did not realise that the GNU was THE golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms.
It is therefore not surprising that many Zimbabweans have never blamed MDC/CCC leaders for wasting the GNU golden opportunity to implement the reforms. How can they, when they themselves have failed to see it as such.
By insisting on participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy, MDC/CCC leaders have become the milestone round the nation’s neck dragging us all into the crashing abyss, as ambassador Dell had predicted. What is infuriating is that MDC leaders know they are now aiding, abetting and perpetuating the Zanu PF dictatorship and still the do it out of greed.
“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.
It took the people of Zimbabwe nearly 20 years to finally accept that Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies were not the liberation heroes and heroines the nation imagined them to be. Ever since the country’s independence in 1980, Zanu PF had ridden roughshod over the people, denying them their basic freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life. In 1983 to 1987 the nation had witnessed the Gukurahundi massacre, over 20 000 innocent civilians were murdered in cold blood, whose primary purpose was to force PF Zapu to sign the Unity Accord and pave the way for the imposition of the de facto one-party, Zanu PF, dictatorship.
It was in the late 1990s that the penny finally dropped in the nation’s collective mind with the realisation that Zanu PF was a party of corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs and, most significantly, that as long as the party continued to enjoy the carte blanche powers to rig elections to stay in power, the nation is doomed. The rallying call for democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging elections was loud and unstoppable.
In 1999, Morgan Tsvangirai and his friends launched their political party calling it the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) to echo the popular demand for democratic change. After 23 years on the political stage, 5 of which in the GNU, the party has not only failed to deliver even one democratic change but, worst of all, its leaders are the ones now helping Zanu PF stay in power for 30 pieces of silver!
Many Zimbabweans are slowly but surely waking up to the reality that Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends have given up on implement democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections and their promise to win rigged elections is an oxymoron. Come 24 August 2023, the morning after the voting day, Zanu PF will claim yet another landslide victory proving once again that Chamisa’s big win was just hot air. Will that be the final straw that broke the camel’s back and forced Zimbabweans to finally wake up to the political reality that CCC will never deliver the democratic changes and free elections the nation has been dying for dating back to the fight to end white colonial rule!
@ Lindiwe
ReplyDeleteMDC/CCC sold out by failing to implement reforms and they are now dragging the nation into yet another pointless election to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the suffering of millions. How anyone can fail to grasp that simple reality speaks volumes of what they understand by holding public officials to democratic account.
Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have the misfortune of having thugs and buffoons as leaders. But one has to also look at the village idiots who put those thugs and buffoon in power!
@ Evangelist
ReplyDeleteAnd you think Chamisa is chosen? Chosen by Whom? How is it possible that some people can be so shallow, thick and slow? MDC failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU and you still believe that God was in it?
Zanu PF is rigging these elections and CCC are participating to give the regime legitimacy for 30 pieces of silver! Come the morning of 24 August, the morning after voting date, Zanu PF will be declared the winner and even you will be forced to admit the CCC is winning big was just hot air!

ReplyDelete“Boycotting or kuramwa is a big NO. It not a solution.
That is why no one is agreeing with you. I doubt if your family does. We all know what happened in 2008 election re-run.”
Zanu PF has ignored all calls for reforms precisely because the party knew the opposition will participate in the elections no matter how flawed and illegal the process got! The opposition leaders are participating out of greed and the ordinary people are participating no matter what out of sheer stupidity - what else can you call it when you have been told that participating will only give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating your suffering.
You don’t want to believe me, then believe Coltart!
“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. ReplyDeleteYou don't even know what constitute free, fair and credible elections and hence the reason you are participating in elections so flawed and illegal there is not even a verified voters' roll! No wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state and, at this rate, will so remain for decades to come!

ReplyDelete“Why I gave Mnangagwa another chance.”
The nub of it; if you can not beat them join them. The opportunism that has become the hallmark of Zimbabwe politics and why we are a failed nation.
The ZanuPF led administration is working very hard to ensure their win the upcoming presidential election scheduled to hold on the 23rd of August 2023.
ReplyDeleteIn an emerging report, it's clear that Zimbabwean government is desperate to appease civil servants to avoid a crisis ahead of general elections, and they are spending money like confetti at a wedding, the public service wage bill has increased three times to staggering proportions.
This has created public financial chaos and stoked inflationary pressures, fuelling fires of renewed economic instability.
It was earlier reported that Zimbabwean government increased the Public Service Bill which was pegged at a whopping $100 billion dollars to $350 billion.
Zimbabwe’s public workers on Tuesday said they would go on strike if the government failed to increase their wages to at least $475 per month for the lowest paid employee, as resurgent inflation returned.
Experts say Zimbabwe is experiencing its worst economic crisis in decades with uncontrolled inflation, stagnant salaries and widespread poverty as a result of mismanagement and corruption under the Emmerson Mnangagwa administration.
Source: NewsHawks
The teachers, nurses and all the other low ranking civil servants have been the Zanu PF sacrificial lamb these last five years; they were thrown over board to contain inflation. Now with the election day looming the regime is making a concerted effort to appease them and it is a delicate and dangerous high wire act!
Once Zanu PF has the victory in the bag, the teachers, nurses, etc. will once again be forgotten.
The truth is Zimbabwe’s education and health care services have all but collapsed. A few weeks ago a high ranking official in the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education told a parliamentary committee that there many Form 3 students who cannot read and write, after 10 years of formal education they still cannot do what a grade 2 student can do. Where are we going as a nation?
@ Mr C
ReplyDelete“I think best is for someone to form own political party and implement such good ideas then we discuss results.”
Zimbabwe had over 130 political parties in 2018 but that has not changed anything. The solution to Zimbabwe’s failed political system is not to have more political parties but to accept that the political system itself needs changing. And you do not change it by participating in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.
@ Austin Chakaodza
ReplyDelete“What are the areas of great concern about the Executive presidency in Africa? First and foremost, the executive president is the head of State, head of government and head of a political party. The President is not answerable to Parliament. Except in a few African countries, the president can practically and willy-nilly override and dissolve Parliament when he disagrees with it and can interfere with the judicial processes as well. This leaves the president with absolute authority which enables him to dominate society at will.
In a country where the Executive presidency prevails, freedom of speech, while available, is severely restricted by interference with the public media both print and electronic as well as a broadcasting system which notoriously serves the interests of the State. Independent journalists are harassed and imprisoned for printing or uncovering corruption and abuse of power.
What is clear is that Executive presidency often leans towards authoritarianism. The latter is a system with highly restricted opportunities for political mobilisation. Power is exercised by a leader or small group not formally accountable to the electorate.”
In Zimbabwe the executive president has the power to appoint and fire all the top brass in the Judiciary, Police, Army, ZEC, University Chancellors, etc., etc. Unlike is countries like the USA where such appointees are subjected to senatorial oversight, this is not so in Zimbabwe. In America, president is forced to have a running mate who then can claim to have a democratic mandate in his/her own right. In Zimbabwe, this has been parked off giving the president the power to appoint and fire the VP(s) willy-nilly.
It is no exaggeration that the Zimbabwe executive president enjoys absolute power!
Mugabe “dictated” the 2013 constitutions as Paul Mangwana once boasted. When the nation gets to rewrite the constitution it would be wise to revert back to having Prime Minister and a ceremonial President so that power is not in the hands of one individual.

ReplyDelete“A few minutes ago, Zanu PF members besieged the shop of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Ward 38 aspiring councillor, Mr. Anderson Sigende.
The shop has been closed.
Approximately 50 Zanu PF members are singing revolutionary songs and denouncing President Chamisa, CCC aspiring councillor Mr. Singende, and the CCC party.
Zanu PF councillor Takawira Chizhira, Lilian Manhivi, Zanu-PF Ward 3 chairlady, and Gandashanga, who is the Zanu PF youth chair, are leading the Zanu PF members.
CCC Gutu Central member Mr. Oliver Chirume criticized the violence by Zanu PF members against CCC member Singende.”
This is why MDC should have implemented the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they had the golden opportunity to do so. This whole idea that CCC has winning in rigged elections strategies is just hot air. The problem of vote rigging through cheating and all manner of intimidation and violence will never ever go away until we implement the reforms.
It is not just Zanu PF who are an impediment to reform and good governance; ever since the GNU debacle, the regime has acquired a junior partner in form of MDC/CCC. CCC are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections knowing fully well that they are giving Zanu PF legitimacy. They are doing it out of greed.
We can bury our heads in the sand and pretend CCC are still fighting for reforms and free elections. The reality is Zanu PF will rig the elections and extend its tyrannical rule. How much longer are we going to allow the curse of rigged elections and failed state to continue!

ReplyDelete“I don't know hangu kuti vamwe pano what do you take of Wilbert’s analysis and take on current politics in Zimbabwe....but majority of the time his arguments don't make no damn sense.

This type of chicken shit analysis that is void of fact and reason is beyond comprehension.
What we need is to be factual and apply logic and critical thinking.”
I total agree that hundreds of thousands of ordinary Zimbabweans came out on the street in support of the coup. As for the opposition, Tsvangirai left his SA Hospital bed in a huff because he was promised a new GNU.
Well what I am saying is these people were wrong to support Mnangagwa and his coup friends because they were removing one dictator only to replace him with another dictator. What the people should have demanded then was the end of the dictatorship and not the musical chairs they were offered.
Events have proven me right, Mnangagwa did not deserve the chance to govern since he has used the last five years to consolidate his strangle hold on power. For one thing corruption is now more rampant than ever before and he is using the looted wealth to bankroll the Zanu PF vote rigging machine.

ReplyDelete“Reforms do not change anything. Zanu pf does not respect the constitution. Do you honestly think they will abide by the reforms.?
Not participating in elections is a non starter.”
So you think MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reforms because “Zanu PF does not respect the constitution or abide by reforms”? How naive!
The evidence on the ground tells a totally different story.
“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” Zanu PF cronies boasted during the GNU when asked why MDC leaders were not implement the reforms.
“Not participating in elections is a non starter.” Yeah but do you understand Zanu PF is as keen as mustard that you participate to give the regime legitimacy?
“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. Zimbabwe is a failed state not only because we have thugs and buffoon in power but more significantly because we have some of the most naive and foolish citizens who have the vote and are the ones who are keeping the thugs and buffoon in power all these last 43 years. Nations get the government they deserve, we in Zimbabwe certainly deserve the corrupt and murderous Zanu PF thugs complete with the entourage of corrupt and utterly useless 130 opposition parties!
@ Lindiwe
ReplyDeleteHere we go again! So you think all those who have left the country are cowards.
Well you are there on the ground what have you done? Why is Zimbabwe a failed state, a by-word for corruption and chaos?
Zimbabwe is a failed state because the country has had the great misfortune of being ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous Zanu PF thugs who have rigged elections to stay in power. The country had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections but, alas, MDC leaders sold out and failed to implement even one reform. CCC are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.
These are the historic facts we must deal with if the country is to get out of this mess.
Your suggestion that people must participate in these flawed elections is just plan foolish because all this has done is give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship.
Your being on the ground and being a man does not make you wiser than those outside Zimbabwe and female. Where you are, your gender, race, tribe, age, etc. does not make anyone wiser than anyone else. So stop this nonsense.
For the last 43 years we have battled the Zanu PF thugs who claimed they are the only one fit to govern “because we fought in the liberation war!” And now we are being subjected to a new brand of oppressors “because we are on the ground!” Many of them are none other than the MDC/CCC sell outs!
If you have solutions to Zimbabwe’s many problem then state them here and let the people judge them on merit.
You have said some foolish things, proof you don’t even know what the GNU was about much less that MDC leaders sold out. If you think you can bully and bamboozle me with all your “I am on the ground” bull s***t, think again. I react to reason and facts not bull s***t!
Can Zimbabwe ever hold free, fair and credible elections without implementing the reforms? The answer has to be a big NO! It is foolish to even argue the point!
ReplyDelete@ MaSimba
ReplyDelete“Saka how do you come to this premature conclusion that's Hopewell including the folks who said give ED a chance are opportunistic??”
Why would I think the henchman who had kept Mugabe in power for 37 years and was seeking to remove the dictator so he could become the next dictator himself “deserved” to be given a chance? A chance to prove he would dismantle the dictatorship he had helped to build so he would not be dictator himself?
Only a fool would have believed that those who had risked all to stage a military coup would risk losing power by implementing the democratic reforms and hold free, fair and credible elections!

ReplyDelete“Nyaya yema reforms kusiyana naye please. What can anyone do about it. Zvimwe use common sense kwete kungoeamba uchi wawata the same story every time.”
If there cannot be free and fair elections without reforms then we should be discussing why we continue to participate in flawed elections only to give Zanu PF legitimacy. There are some who argue that we should participate in the flawed elections and hope for the best, that is insane and must and will be denounced.
To argue that it should not be denounce because it is “the same story” is to miss the point. I would rather repeat the warning that it is insane to participate in these flawed elections than to say nothing and see the foolishness repeated!
@ MaSimba
ReplyDelete“Short and long of it your analysis of the Zimbabwean crisis lacks depth.”
Well that is rich, come from some one who has just been arguing that Mnangagwa deserved a chance to when all he was doing is remove one dictator only to take his place. Was your analysis full of depth?
Exactly. Even those of us who did not have the advantages of a 5 star education have a right to be heard. Besides what is the use of being able to write a whole book without making a single spelling or gramma mistake and yet say nothing of substance. These nose-brigade people are a pain in a***e!

ReplyDeleteYou left out the most important thing regarding these elections: that Zanu PF is rigging these elections CCC leaders but are participating regardless to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating the people’s suffering out of greed!
All the ordinary Zimbabweans who participate in these elections because you have been conned by CCC to believe the oxymoronic nonsense that the party has winning in rigged elections strategies must know you too are giving Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating your own suffering. Having participated you cannot complain that the elections were rigged because you have been warned and paid no heed!
Speaking after signing an Administrative Arrangement (AA) with the ministry of foreign affairs, von Kirchmann said the onus is on the Zimbabwean government to implement electoral reforms.
ReplyDelete"The word says it all, it is a recommendation. The country is a sovereign, they are free to take these recommendations or not to take. We give advice to somebody. An election observer mission is not imposing, it is recommending," said ambassador Kirchmann.
The EU has set credible violent free elections as a precondition for the bloc to lift an embargo against Zimbabwe it imposed at the height of the land reform program.
Ambassador Kirchmann is 100% correct, the EU Observer team made their 23 reform recommendation at the end of the 2018 elections and, alas, they did not find anyone in the ruling party or the opposition remotely interested in implementing the reforms. The tragic reality here is that the opposition, who should be pushing for reforms and free elections has gave up on this during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when SADC, like EU, recommended reforms.
CCC are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections knowing doing so will only giving Zanu PF legitimacy. They are doing so regardless out of greed.
What we, the ordinary Zimbabweans are asking from EU Observers is to give a honest assessment of these elections to international accepted standards as they did in 2018. The worst thing they can do is patronise us by lowering the bar! And one more thing, the EU has treated Zimbabwe’s errant opposition politicians with kid-gloves; this must change. Ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC has kept Zanu PF in power and undermined all efforts to get the democratic reforms implemented.
@ Cogito
ReplyDelete“Mr Mukori how many political parties are contesting these elections??”
You still don’t get it do you? Let me try walk through what David Coltart said.
There five key points to understand:
without reforms the election process is so flawed and illegal it a fait accompli that Zanu PF will win
opposition know that their participating in these flawed elections is important to giving Zanu PF legitimacy. The 2008 GNU forced Zanu PF to move on from the de facto one party state to embracing multiparty democratic facade and the party was winning to give away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate no matter how flawed the process got.
Coltart is just being honest, the opposition has been participating in these flawed elections out of greed
There is nothing to be gained by the ordinary Zimbabwean is participating in these flawed elections. Indeed povo are not only forfeiting their chance to have reforms implemented so they can have free elections but are the ones paying dearly for perpetuating the dictatorship.
The opposition know they cannot tell povo they are participating in flawed elections out of greed nor remind povo that they are the big losers if they participate. And so MDC/CCC have insisted they will win the elections because they have Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES). All hot air but many had swallowed the hook, line and sinker even after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections.
“How many political parties are contesting these elections?” How many greed opposition parties are there?
So you are participating in these flawed elections to perpetuate YOUR suffering because you want one of these opposition parties to win the few seats Zanu PF is offering as bait!
A more rational person would know all the opposition parties participating in these flawed elections are doing so out of selfish greed, they don’t care about povo continued suffering. So why anyone with half a brain partake in a process to perpetuate their own misery for the benefit of some selfish politicians! The tragedy for Zimbabwe is we do not have many rational citizens out there!
@ Godfrey
ReplyDelete“In 2008 Zanu just wanted assistance crossing the economic and political bridge
And they did survive the pressure
If we look at their arrogance - not sharing power fairly
And not sticking to conditions of agreement
Those were signs of disingenuous partner to the agreement
Zanu disregards SADC or EU set conditions - there is no doubt about that
That being the case - then opposition is a small fish at holding them to account.
To say MDC should have just implemented reforms no matter what even in the face of such intransigence is missing some of the important considerations.”
David Coltart has given a true account of why MDC leaders participated in the 2013 elections.
He did not say anything about MDC failing to do the right and logical thing - stop participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy - because of “Zanu PF intransigence”. You know why? Because it was NOT “Zanu PF intransigence” that stopped MDC leaders doing the right and logical thing. It was greed. GREED!
It was the same GREED that stopped MDC leaders implementing even one meaningful reform during the GNU.
It is the same GREED that is making CCC leaders participate in these flawed 2023 elections.
You can manufacture all manners of excuses to justify MDC/CCC leaders to implement reforms and for participating in these flawed elections that will not change the historic facts that it is greed and breath-taking incompetence that stopped them doing the right and logical things.
@ Tapfuma
ReplyDelete“Let truth be told this is an uphill election, as much as we love change but it looks like we are not prepared to hear truth that CCC is going to the election, to sanitise the rigged election, so long there are no electrical reforms we are doomed this a fact, insulting each other does not bring change.
Cdes let's be open minded, Zanu pf for a fact they will not surrender power in a silver platter, the ED regime will neither kill to stay in power the discord in our opposition parties will always give Zanupf edge to rig the elections we need unity across, this is despondence saves the greed politicians.”
The worst thing is MDC/CCC leaders had the opportunity to implement reforms and stop Zanu PF rigging and they sold out by failing to implement even one reform. Instead of admitting they sold out they are now conning the people into believing they have Winning In Rigged Election Strategies (WIRES) just to hide their greed and dragging the nation deeper and deeper into this abyss!

ReplyDelete“This real-life story of Mr Mukori after living in the USA for 38 years and at the age of 71, Mr Mukori finally relocated to Norton this year to live in his 6-bedroom mansion which took him 9 years to complete.
Apparently, now in Norton Mr Mukori is in his mansion, Mr Mukori lives in the living room of the house while his caretaker lives upstairs in his huge master bedroom.
This is because Mr Mukori cannot climb the stairs without the help of another person.
Even with help, it will take him 15 minutes to make the climb.
Mr Mukori has decided to stay downstairs of his mansion in the living room as all 6 bedrooms are upstairs.
The house has a living room, toilet, and kitchen downstairs and 3 rooms on the first floor, and another 3 including the master bedroom on the second last floor.
This is surely not how Mr Mukori anticipated his retirement. But that is the reality of his journey.
Unfortunately this will be the life of many other Africans living abroad building mansions back home without caring about their old age.
In fact, if you are building a dream house for yourself to live in and by 50 years that house is not done, forget it🫣
Mr Mukori almost wasted 38 years of his life doing menial jobs abroad hoping to go and retire back home in his mansion and enjoy life. Now, he has no life to enjoy and someone is really enjoying the mansion.
Like most aged persons, Mr Mukori is not even able to enjoy a fine bottle of Single malt at his age because that will shoot up his sugar level.
Yet, he said he was working hard all his life to enjoy his best life which included eating and drinking the finest when he retires.
Now, he is only able to eat salads and even that, without dressing.
He cannot even chew any of the fine meat out there without his cholesterol and gout sending painful warning signs.
How is this life and the great retirement?
Yet, this will be the life of more than half of us.
The solution is to take mini-retirements now and enjoy your life and luxury now.
Mr Mukori's wife decided to stay back in America to help their children raise their grandchildren.
Mr Mukori is now under the care of workers while the rest of his immediate family has decided to make America home.
Lately it's rare to find Zimbabwean women who plan to retire in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼
The advantage women have over men- women can adapt fast in any place they settle unlike men.
Take time to enjoy life when you can still walk around and eat anything you want to eat above all travel around the world and experience the great Adventureez 👍
FYI-Your Zimbabwean American children might never spend a night in that house or follow up on any of the properties you have worked so hard to buy...
When you will rest that will be the end of it all....

Well it is the decree of the Lord that we all must grow old and die. Last season’s leaves and fruit must fall to give way to the new season’s flowers and leaves. There is no shame in growing old nor in death.
Still whilst there is still life, one must make the most of it and do one’s best to help others, especially those who are helpless and need one’s help.
Until we implement the reforms Zimbabwe will have these meaning elections in which Zanu PF gets legitimacy, CCC gets a few gravy train seats whilst the nation continues to sink deeper and deeper into the abyss. It is not me who needs to move on, it is the nation that needs to implement the bloody reforms or sink!
ReplyDeleteOPPOSITION Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa has advised his supporters to attend Zanu PF campaign rallies for their safety, but vote it out in the ballot box on August 23.
ReplyDeleteThis comes amid reports of rising political tension mostly in the rural areas, where members of a shadowy Zanu PF affiliate, Forever Associates Zimbabwe, are said to be conducting door-to-door campaigns warning villagers against voting for opposition candidates.
Addressing hundreds of party supporters and aspiring councillors at an opposition member’s homestead in Mahusekwa, Marondera West constituency on Saturday, Chamisa bemoaned the continued victimisation of his supporters.
This is a nightmare! On the one hand, CCC leaders are the ones insisting on participating in these flawed elections on the basis they have Winning In Rigged Election Strategies (WIRES). None of these strategies are worth the spit!
Zanu PF has changed from the 2008 voting system with constituency voters’ roll in which the 30 000 voters could vote in any of the 10 Polling Stations (PS). This year there are 60 PS per constituency and more significantly it is PS voters’ roll and cannot vote anywhere else but at the designated PS.
Zanu PF operatives have instructions to corral the voters and frogmarch them to go and vote. The party operatives will know the 500 or so voters in each PS and when the results come out they will be able to say with so degree of confidence who did not vote for Zanu PF.
The claim people can “vote Zanu PF out” and the party will never know is a lie. “Your vote is your secrete” was true once upon a time, in 2008 and before, not now!
Until we implement the reforms, Zimbabwe will never ever have free, fair and credible elections. CCC leaders know that and they continue participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.
The European Union (EU) will be the first to send an observer team to Zimbabwe next week, ahead of the 23 August elections, which will also be observed by the United Kingdom, the United States, and their geopolitical adversaries Russia, Belarus, and China.
ReplyDeleteJobst von Kirchmann of the EU met with Zimbabwe's acting Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Amon Murwira on Friday in Harare, and the two signed a memorandum of understanding ahead of the elections.
Sad that EU Observer Mission's reform recommendations were never acted upon!
CCC are hell bent on participating in these flawed elections knowing doing so will only giving Zanu PF legitimacy. They are doing so regardless out of greed.
@ Kasukuwere
ReplyDeleteIt is one thing to say I will block vote rigging and another doing it. He has not said anything to suggest he will do it!
He is a former Zanu PF thug himself and so will probably use his experience as a thug to stop some of the thuggery. He is therefore not stopping thuggery but rather taking it to a new level.
What we need is to implement the democratic reforms and put an end to this curse of rigged elections. If Kasukuwere was to win these elections we can be 100% certain that thuggery is here to stay!
Every one must know that by participating, directly or indirectly by saying nothing, in these elections you have, per se, endorse the process as acceptable. If you are not happy with the process, complain now or forever hold your peace.
ReplyDeleteCCC are hell bent on participating in these elections claiming they have Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies. The can complain after 23 August of Zanu PF rigging but no one will listen because they are not listen to anyone now!

Popular delusions
ReplyDeleteThe above subheading is the title of a book by Charles Mackay, a mid-nineteenth-century journalist and student of crowd psychology. It explores how easily popular opinion or narrative can mislead even ordinarily level-headed people to lose their heads and think contrary to conventional logic.
Written back in 1841, this book is quite an apt reference point for every election season in Zimbabwe as the mania of delusion visits even the seemingly rational.
We have had our unfair share of delusional presidential wannabes. But, I genuinely do not believe that Kasukuwere is delusional. At least, that is my hope. Neither do I think he is naïve to believe that he can win the presidential contest.
I totally agree with you that Zimbabweans are easily sweared by cheap rhetoric and empty promises. Calling Zimbabweans “ordinarily level-headed people to (who) lose their heads and think contrary to conventional logic”, is be very generous but completely off the mark. We have a very serious problem and, if we are ever going to get out of this mess, must be brutally honest with ourselves. We must call a spade a bloody shove!
It is one thing to say Zanu PF has remained in power these last 43 years because the party rigged the elections, particularly all the elections since the turn of the century when the nation reached the consensus on the need for democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Zanu PF would have been history by the 2013 elections, at the latest, if the MDC/CCC leaders had not sold out on implementing the reforms.
Saviour Kasukuwere’s track record as a Zanu PF thug is well known and the very idea of there being any Zimbabwean who would freely vote for his likes makes me sick. How can anyone with even half a brain want a thugs like him back in power for? And yet we know that they are some Zimbabweans who will vote for him, just as there were hundreds of thousands of Zimbabweans who poured out into the street to support the November 2017 military coup and would have freely voted for Mnangagwa in 2018 elections. Of course, they don’t even have half a brain!
Many Zimbabweans are participating in these flawed elections knowing doing so will give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating their own suffering because they have been conned into believing Chamisa’s nonsensical claim CCC has Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies (WIRES). Only some one who is brain dead would believe such idiotic nonsense especially after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections!
One video Chamisa is complaining about Zanu PF thugs intimidating his supporters. His advice is for them to buy Zanu PF regalia and attend the regime's rallies and blend in. "On voting day vote for CCC and your vote is a secret"! he tells them. Everyone knows with the new voting system of Polling Station (PS) vote's roll and with 60 PS up from 10 in 2008; Zanu PF will know how each of the 500 or so voters per PS will have voted. There is no such thing as “Your vote is your secret!” Not in Zimbabwe.
ReplyDeleteIn the next video Chamisa is back to pretending these are free, fair and credible elections.
Both the ordinary Zimbabweans and the foreign Election Observers must be really confused and so they should be. Chamisa cannot make up his own mind whether these elections are free and fair or they are being rigged. The truth is Zanu PF is rigging the elections are Chamisa does not have the guts to admit it for fear of being asked why he is participating, more so after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging the elections!

ReplyDelete“Despite all your blind walking, or sleep walking, no part in this world requires approval from its defeated and bitter opponents. Trump was dragged out of the Whitehouse, kicking and yelling ffffrrraaaauuuuudh. I hope you remember the Capital Hill incident.
Closer to home, Raila Odinga is still trying to this day, the same uninspiring antiques we’re witnessing in Zim for just as many years. It’s up to the winners to take up the mandate and rule. The losers have to wait for the next election. Common sense here. The illusory reforms you’re winching about are not even constitutional. Not even conceivable. It’s a mirage that’s impossible to actualise. That’s daydreaming there.
There’s no clause in any SADDC books where they can intervene in the domestic affairs of another member. It won’t happen. It’s against international law. It violates the sacrosanct UN charter on both the sovereign and equality of ALL states. So, you can dream as much as you like. Fortunately, it’s only a dream. August is fast approaching. It’s now or never for you.”
Still in 2008 SADC refused to rubber stamp the Zanu PF victory after all the blatant cheating and wanton violence and refused to grant the regime political legitimacy. Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies were forced to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement leading the formation of the GNU.
Zanu PF rigging these 2023 elections and CCC is participating out of greed. SADC should refuse to grant Zanu PF legitimacy because the elections process is flawed and illegal and the participating opposition has no political credibility. ANC government in SA has vowed not to allow regime change is Zimbabwe for selfish reason. Still Zanu PF knows political legitimacy from SADC is not a certainty.
If SADC refused to grant Zanu PF political legitimacy then Zimbabwe will have another GNU and this time all the democratic reforms will be implemented; mark my words.
@ Ds Max
ReplyDeleteIf you are asking what is the solution then you have hear the message but failed to understand it. If you had heard and understood the message then you would also KNOW not only what CCC but you yourself must do!
Chamisa and company are participating in these flawed elections out of greed, they are after the gravy train seats on offer as bait. They are hell ben on participating there is no talking them out of participating.
It for the ordinary Zimbabweans to open their eyes and mind to the reality, the sheer insanity, of participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating their own suffering. Whilst one can forgive the rural voters for participating, they are corralled and frogmarched to do so. It is insane for the urban voters to participate on the basis of Chamisa’s idiotic Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies, especially after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections.
@ Mrs D
ReplyDelete“Varipa repeat mode kusvika mati eke😂😂😂”
Zanu PF has rigged elections for 43 years and counting with disastrous consequences to the country. Zanu PF is rigging this elections and that is a repeat that you should be concerned about and not my warning that it is happening.
If some one have a migraine, they number one priority is to find a cure it. It is all very well for you to complain that you are sick and tired of hearing about the migraine. It would be foolish for the person with the headache to suffer in silence to appease you, even if you too have a headache! If you are foolish enough to suffer in silence, why should we all follow your foolish example!
You just want to participate in these flawed elections even when you can see this is an exercise in futility! You cannot bear to see Chamisa, your demigod, held to democratic account! Well he is a fallible mortal and a corrupt and incompetent one at that and I am holding him to democratic account. That is not negotiable!
@ Violet
ReplyDeleteChamisa knows that Zanu Pf is rigging and winning these elections and that participating will only give Zanu Pf legitimacy. He is soldiering on regardless because he also knows that Zanu PF is giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate no matter how flawed and illegal process get. Then there is the POLAD freebies for the others.
The truth is Zimbabwe will never ever free, fair and credible elections without first implementing the democratic reforms. SADC leaders tried to get MDC to implement the reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU but not even one token reform was implemented.
The 2018 EU Election Observer Mission made 23 reform recommendations to bring Zimbabwe elections “to acceptable international standard”. Both the ruling party, Zanu PF, and the main opposition, CCC, have completely ignore the recommendations.
Zanu PF is rigging these elections and CCC are playing along to give Zanu PF legitimacy for a share of the spoils of power. CCC has been running with the povo hare and hunting with the Zanu PF hounds since the GNU and the people of Zimbabwe has been slow to realise this. How long are we going to allow this political circus to continue?
@ Benjamin
ReplyDelete“I think the solution you are giving is what people don't want. They are already geared and eagerly waiting for election day. Knowing fully well that anxiety and tears will follow a few hours later when chigumba sits to do the obvious 🤣🤣🤣. We never seem to learn. We are driven by false hope. It is this false hope that politicians prey on by the way. Sad.”
The challenge here to tell people what they MUST hear and not what they WANT to hear. It is the toughest tasks there is!
@ Mama Skye
ReplyDelete"mukuda kuti aitasei nhai? go down without a fight? coz pagara hapachaitwe ma reforms or you enjoy making noise?"
You can delude yourself all you want. Chamisa and his fellow CCC leaders and the rest in the opposition camp are not participating in these elections because they are not “going down without a fight”. They are participating to give “the process credibility” and thus give Zanu PF legitimacy for the sake of the few gravy train seats and/or POLAD freebies.
The ordinary people have been conned to give up on reforms and free elections to fight to win rigged elections a fight they should know by now, after 43 years of Zanu PF Mafiosi rigging elections, they cannot win and worse still a fight they have been warned will only to give Zanu PF legitimacy. One cannot reason with someone who is brain dead and both Zanu PF and CCC are exploiting that reality!

ReplyDeleteWhat is politics?
A Russian Jew was finally allowed to emigrate to Israel. At Moscow airport, customs found a Lenin statue in his baggage and asked, _"What is this?"
The man replied, _"What is this? Wrong question comrade. You should have asked : Who is he? This is Comrade Lenin. He laid the foundations of socialism and created the future and prosperity of the Russian people. I am taking it with me as a memory of our dear hero."
The Russian customs officer let him go without further inspection. At Tel Aviv airport, the Israeli customs officer also asked our friend, _"What is this?"
He replied, _"What is this? Wrong question, Sir. You should be asking, 'Who is this?' This is Lenin, the bastard who caused me, a Jew, to leave Russia. I take this statue with me so I can curse him every day."
The Israeli customs officer said, _"I apologize, Sir, you are cleared to go"
Settling into his new house, he put the statue on a table. To celebrate his immigration, he invited his friends and relatives to dinner.
One of his friends asked, _"Who is this?"
He replied, "My dear friend, 'Who is this' is a wrong question. You should have asked, What is this? This is ten kilograms of solid gold that I managed to bring with me without paying any customs duty and tax."
Politics is when you can tell the same shit in different ways to fool a different audience, to allow you to look good in every way....
Real Politician”
Must send this to one of the Gold Mafia gangsters like MacMillan “Mr Gold” or Kamlesh Pattni, alias Brother (or Pastor) Paul, smuggled up to 150 kg of gold in just one day with tacit protection of President Mnangagwa “Number One”. The licence would say exported 50 kg and the gangster will reported bring back US$ to pay for the 50 kg gold less his 18% commission. The US$ will be dirty money, naturally. And oh, the paper work will say one thing but reality say something else. And guess what everyone was gloriously happy.
That Zanu PF big mouth, Chris Mutsvangwa even wrote a all thesis on how the Gold Mafia were bursting the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the western imperialists! The Gold Mafia gangsters have solved Zimbabwe’s foreign currency shortages, he claimed. On paper the country had billions of US$ but no one knew where it is as the queues at Banks would testify.
So where is the looted gold and money, you might well ask? Well visit anyone of the Gold Mafia gangsters and you will know. Pattni has a multi billion business empire in Dubai and other hot spots. Even the upstart Eubert Angel, who was appointed Zimbabwe Ambassador at large by Mnangagwa himself and was boasting of using his diplomatic bag to smuggle dirty money, lives in a mansion and has a US$ 60 million fortune!
A 10 kg solid gold statue of Lenin! What is that? In Zimbabwe the Gold Mafia, Diamond Mafia, Lithium Mafia, etc., etc. are looting the nation blind and they are paid in gold, lithium, US$, etc. by Number One himself! Talk a country ruled by dunderheads and everyone will know you are talking about Zimbabwe!
BIKITA-Fomer Deputy Minister for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Service and Bikita South Zanu PF candidate Energy Mutodi this morning allegedly shot twice at Coalition for Citizen Change (CCC) members gathered at Baradzanwa Township waiting for Nelson Chamisa.
ReplyDeleteHe allegedly besieged the venue with two trucks laden with Zanu PF supporters and threw stones at the CCC supporters. He was in the company of Kumbirai Ziki, a Forever Associates Zimbabwe (FAZ) member in Bikita South. According to a source, when CCC members confronted them, Mutodi fired at them.
MDC/CCC had the opportunity to implement reforms and avoid this madness, they did not implement even one reform in 5 years of the GNU and are the ones insisting on participating with no reforms. This is the cat and mouse politics they wanted and claim they have Winning In Rigged Elections Strategies. Chamisa and company were hell bent on participating in these elections knowing fully well Zanu PF will rig and use violence
