"MDC will not disclose its WIRE strategies" - another rigged elections to test that, how foolish N Garikai

MDC Alliance is gearing up for the upcoming 2023 national elections although it is clear not even one democratic reform would have been implemented since the last elections. The party’s leader, Nelson Chamisa was not concerned about that!

“We will not discuss and disclose our strategies on social media platforms. We are serious about our next steps,” Chamisa reportedly answered when he was asked about going into yet another election with no reforms.

“If you want to understanding our value just check how our opponents are panicking and misbehaving.”

Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess with 50% of the country’s population now living in abject poverty and the education and health care services have all but completely collapsed after decades of being starved of funds. And as long as the country remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical thugs who have rigged elections to stay in power.

After 41 years being stuck in this hell-hole the country desperately needs a clearly, workable, fool-proof, tried and tested plan A, with backup plans B and C, mapping out how the nation is finally going to ending this curse of rigged elections and the pariah state. The last thing this nation should accept is yet another unconventional solution of which we, the people at the coal face of it all, are not permitted to know but expected to blindly follow and hope for the best!

MDC leaders have had 21 years, 5 of which in the GNU, to bring about the democratic changes the nation has been dying for. They had their best opportunity to do so during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Sadly, they sold-out and failed to implement even one reform in the five years.

Ever since the failed GNU, MDC leaders have participated in flawed and illegal elections on the basis the party had devised Winning In Rigged Elections (WIRE) strategies. The party has always refused to disclose what these strategies were but, most notably, none of the strategies have ever worked because Zanu PF was always won the elections.

It has become as clear as daylight, that the WIRE strategies are feeble excuses why MDC leaders keep participating in these flawed and illegal elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging and they were helpless to stop the rigging.

What the nation wants to know is what is being done to end this curse of rigged elections and bad governance! After 41 years of rigged elections we what free, fair and credible elections; that is not too much to ask!

The reason why MDC A and the rest in the opposition camp have participated in the flawed elections is because Zanu PF has been giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate. It is these bait seats the opposition are after.

By participating in these flawed elections, the opposition gave the process credibility and gave the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

So, both Zanu PF and the MDC leaders have gained something from these flawed elections. It is the ordinary Zimbabweans who have lost everything since they have been left stuck with Zanu PF in power and the consequences of Zimbabwe being a pariah state!

The way out of this economic and political mess has been staring us in the face all along – implement the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. Just because Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friend took their eyes off the ball and failed to implement even one reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU does not meaning no one else can implement the reforms much less that the reforms are no longer required.

Of course, there is no chance of Zanu PF implementing any reforms before the 2023 elections or ever. Why would Mnangagwa and company reform themselves out of office, especially when they know they are guaranteed to get legitimacy from the guaranteed participation of the opposition in the flawed elections.

The party failed to explain why it has, unilaterally, abandoned the universally acknowledged strategy of implementing the reforms in favour of the downright idiotic tactic out-rigging Zanu PF, given the latter’s a well-oiled vote rigging juggernaut! The nation is not interested in these WIRE strategies because everyone is sick and tired of rigged elections; they just want this problem sorted and not kicked down the road!

The people have watched with a sense of foreboding and despair the events that has torn MDC A apart; the people can see the root causes of the implosion are self-inflicted blunders.

There is no denying MDC A has lost a lot of political credibility; as has MDC-T led by Douglas Mwonzora and other opposition parties!

There is no doubt that Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies will be going into the 2023 elections with not even one token reform in place. No doubt MDC A and the usual opposition suspects will participate in the flawed elections, fighting over the few gravy train seats on offer. The political question that must be nagging President Mnangagwa is Can Zanu PF get away with another rigged elections given MDC A and company have lost political credibility?

“MDC A will not disclose its WIRE strategies!” So, the nation is having yet another 2023 elections, rigged, just to test MDC A’s revised WIRE strategies! How foolish is that!

  1. It is very patronizing, to say the least, for the First Lady to be teaching the poor how to cook mufushwa, the things the poor people have to eat because they cannot afford anything else. The poor are poor because of the ruling elite's criminal waste of the nation's resources to feed their insatiable greed. The poor are powerless to stop the criminal waste because the ruling elite rig elections.

No doubt she was going to cook the mufushwa and give a lecture on how tasty and nutritious it is! If she has had mufushwa at all in the last year it was out of choice. The poor have mufushwa all the time because they have nothing else - that is the difference! it is so great then How many times had she had mufushwa in the last year?

What the poor want, above all else, is an end to the vote rigging for they have a meaningful say in the governance of the country. What the poor do not want is to the reminded of their situation and that they are stuck in their hopeless situation and so might as well be comfortable!

The ruling elite cannot be short changing the masses and pretend they are doing them a great favour. The people are poor but they are not stupid; they know they are being cheated!

  2. MDC leaders are corrupt and incompetent and they have said and done some really crazy things to put this matter beyond all reasonable doubt! One of those foolish decision to prove they are breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent is agreeing to participate in elections when it was clear Zanu PF would rig the elections and that doing so will legitimise Zanu PF.

This idea that MDC has devised Winning In Rigged Elections strategies flies in the face of logic.

Many Zimbabweans have risked life and limb fighting for freedom and human rights including the right to a meaningful vote both before independence and after independence. Over 300 000 have died in the fight for freedom at the hands of the white colonial rulers and over 30 000 have died in the last 41 years of Zanu PF tyrannical rule. All these brave men and women must be turning in their graves to know that Zimbabweans have not only stopped fighting for a meaningful vote as a basic right but are actively encouraging Zanu PF to deny the people the vote, to rig elections, because MDC A have devised strategies to WIN rigged elections!

MDC A have participated in elections without even insisting that every Zimbabwean who has the right to vote should be given the chance to do so. 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora were denied the vote. That did not matter to Chamisa and his opposition friends because the had WIRE strategies!

The opposition politicians completely ignored that ZEC’s failure to produced something as basic as a verified voters’ roll, a legal and common-sense requirement. Whatever limitless opportunities this gave to Zanu PF to rig elections Chamisa and company welcomed the challenge pitted against their own WIRE strategies!

Indeed, the MDC leaders had the best opportunity the nation has ever had in the last 41 years to implement the reforms and end the curse of rigged election s once and once for all during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The party failed to implement even one reform because it had WIRE strategies – of course, how can we ever forget the WIRE strategies.

Where would Zimbabwe be without Chamisa and his MDC A’s WIRE strategies! Lost – that’s where we would be!

I don’t why Chamisa has not changed the MDC from Movement for Democratic Change to Movement for Demonic Chaos since the party has abandoned the goal to bring democratic change and has brought the demonic chaos instead!

Of course, it is insane to abandon the demand for reforms and free and fair elections. And it will be insane to let these MDC A village idiots drag the nation into yet another pointless elections ostensibly to test Chamisa’s demonic WIRE strategies!

This nation deserves better and will have the reforms implemented so they can finally enjoy free, fair and credible elections and all the other rights and freedoms; just like the rest of mankind! WIRE strategies my foot!

“The reason Chamisa (like Tsvangirai before him) has never been serious about reforms is he thinks he is the most popular Zimbabwean to ever walk this earth and so can wrestle power from Zanu PF without the reforms, and then use the same skewed electoral system to ring-fence himself so he can “rule” Zimbabwe till the cows come home.

To support the above statement I will remind you that a few months before the 2018 elections Chamisa claimed that if Mnangagwa got more than 5% of the votes he was gonna gift Mnangagwa his 18 years old sister. Unfortunately thousands of Zimbabweans have lost their lives, limbs and property after staking everything on this kind of naivety and cockiness.”

I totally agree with you there, MDC leaders are naïve and incompetent a dangerous mix that has made the big and pig headed!

You have brought up a point many people have overlooked even if the economic and social situation was to become so desperate, as happened in 2008, that the people once again risk even more lives and limbs for change and MDC were elected into power; it is naïve to think that Chamisa and company would implement any democratic reforms. Of course, the use the skewed political system to ring-fence so they get to enjoy absolute power. They would be asking the nation to come up with WIRE strategies too!

Some people argued that we should just concentrate on removing Zanu PF from office, the task of remove the incompetent MDC would be ease. How naïve!

It pays in the end to get the best in the beginning! The prospect of 4 decades of Zanu PF corrupt and tyrannical rule followed by decades of mind-numbing mediocracy and unfathomable void is simply awful.

  4. Whilst everyone is saying we should implement the democratic reforms to stop the curse of rigged elections and here is the list of the reforms we should implement. Chamisa and company are saying for the reforms, we do not need to implement any reforms because he has devised strategies that allows him and the MDC A to win rigged elections.

Needless to say that Chamisa's WIRE strategies have not worked in the past! Chamisa and company participated in the July 2018 elections knowing fully well that ZEC had not produced even something as basic as a verified voters' roll and therefore the opportunity for Zanu PF to rig elections from this oversight alone was limitless.

"MDC has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections!" boasted Chamisa before the July 2018 elections.

ZEC declared Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF the winner of the July 2018 elections and Chamisa said the elections were stolen. He has never said what went wrong with his measures to stop rigging. And now Chamisa and company want to drag the nation into yet another election to test their revised strategies of winning rigged elections.

I totally agree, the people of Zimbabwe must refused to go down this idiotic route of participating in flawed and illegal elections for the purpose of out rigging Zanu PF. We should demand the implementation of reforms so that elections are free, fair and credible. We do not want rigged elections even if MDC A WIRE strategies worked!

  5. Party deputy spokesperson Clifford Hlatywayo confirmed that they were, indeed, mobilising members to confront the Zanu-PF government.

"We are mobilising the citizens of Zimbabwe and citizens of the world of like-minded to converge and fight for a people's government. Zimbabweans deserve a better leadership, not these comedians who thrive on abductions of the ordinary and looting of taxpayers' hard-earned money. The dictator wants to create a one-party State, it will fail, and it has failed. MDC Alliance is a people's party and the leadership is a product of the people. President Chamisa is the people's hope," Hlatywayo said.

Contacted for comment, Zanu-PF spokesperson Simon Khaya Moyo curtly said: "No comment. Zanu-PF subscribes to the rule of law, period."

Political analyst Austin Chakaodza said the planned protests were likely to be brutally crushed.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC into power on the believe the party will bring about the democratic changes the nation was dying for. After 21 years, 5 of which in the GNU, MDC leaders have failed to bring about even one democratic reform. Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had the best ever opportunity to implement the reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They sold-out and failed to implement even one reform.

Ever since their GNU debacle MDC leaders have given up on implementing reforms and having been participating in flawed and illegal elections under the pretext the party had devised strategies to win rigged elections. By participating in these elections MDC A gave the process credibility and gave the result legitimacy; Chamisa and company know this.

How foolish that MDC A should now be seeking to remove Zanu PF from power by street protest when they are the ones who gave Zanu PF legitimacy in the first place! This is just something to do to kill time and please the naïve and gullible that MDC A is still relevant.

Chamisa and company are waiting for the economic and political situation to get so bad the people will risk all for change. They will step forward and claim all the credit as the people’s government the nation had been waiting for.

It was US ambassador to Zimbabwe 2004 to 2007, Chris Dell, who, in leaked cable back to Washington, said Tsvangirai was “a flawed and indecisive character who would be an albatross round Zimbabwe’s neck if he ever got into power”. MDC did get into power and ambassador Dell’s prediction came true.

The people of Zimbabwe must wake up to the reality that MDC leaders are incompetent, corrupt and sell-outs; there is a mountain of evidence to prove this if only they would open their eyes and minds!

He is announcing this just to keep the naive and gullible happy that something is going to happen. The street protests will accomplish nothing of substance, they are as much a mirage as Mnangagwa's own upper middle income vision 2030.

  6. "The most important thing is that people must be educated on the advantages of having dialogue because the country cannot continue being divided like this," Komichi told the Daily News.

"We are happy that everyone, including political parties, is seeing the light in terms of recognising the advantages of having dialogue.

"Dialogue is needed now and we must put more effort into this. Before the talks, there is a need to address three things - which entail fears, interests and needs." he added.

Other MDC insiders also told the Daily News yesterday that Mwonzora's approaches to Mnangagwa's office had yielded positive feedback, with the opposition leader apparently being assured that "the president's door is wide open for negotiations".

Zanu PF and MDC did have a dialogue in 2008 that culminated in the 2008 to 2013 GNU. That GNU was supposed to implement a raft of democratic reforms designed to restore individual freedoms and rights including the right to free and fair elections. The reforms were supposed to stop a reap of the blatant cheating and wanton violence of the 2008 elections.

The 2008 to 2013 GNU failed to get even one reform implemented and hence the reason Zanu PF was able to blatant rig the 2013 and all the subsequent elections.

We are not going to have another GNU so that the Zanu PF and MDC leaders can have yet another great time at the nation’s expense and at the end of the GNU, once again, have nothing to show for it.

Zanu PF and MDC leaders are corrupt, incompetent and are the ones who have landed the nation into this mess. They are the problem and, per se, cannot be the solution too.

What Zimbabwe needs right now is to appoint a body that will implement all the democratic reforms and organise the holding of the nation’s first free, fair and credible elections. Just because Zanu PF and MDC failed to implement any reform does not mean no one else can much less that the reforms are no longer required.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Make up you mind: if elections are not free, fair and credible then we should focus on getting the reforms implemented before any more elections, national or by-election.

Zanu PF has been smart enough to allow the opposition to win a few gravy train seats but that does not mean elections are free, fair and credible. Indeed, Tendai Biti and all those who participated in the 2018 elections are sell-out because they all knew that by participating they were giving the process credibility and the result legitimacy. We should be condemning sell-outs and not to be heralded them as heroes!

  8. The CSOs also called upon the Zimbabwean government to engage all stakeholders in resolving the Zimbabwean crisis.

The CSOs expressed disappointment at Sadc's lackadaisical approach in responding to issues affecting the region and called upon the regional body to immediately convene an urgent extraordinary summit to discuss issues affecting the region

If these calls are for another Zanu PF and MDC GNU then SADC is right to ignore the callers. We have been down this path before, the 2008 to 2013 GNU led by the same individuals achieved nothing and so why should the second be any better? All those calling for another Zanu PF and MDC GNU are now part of the problem because it is clear they have learned nothing from the past!

"A deliberate attempt by Mnangagwa to annihilate opposition politics. We have recently witnessed carefully choreographed attempts to destroy the opposition by the so-called defections of members of the main opposition to ZANU-PF. These events have even broadcasted on the national television. Mnangagwa has been using the State House, a government property to host these party defectors, a gross abuse of power."

MDC A leaders have done a great job of shooting themselves in the foot what outside observers find shocking is the repeated nonsense blaming Zanu PF for all MDC A troubles. MDC A is behaving like Zanu PF blaming sanctions for the economic meltdown whilst ignoring the mountain of evidence of the rampant corruption!

As much as the world would like to help Zimbabwe, no one is going to lift a finger helping a nation that cannot admit its own shortcomings! Right now MDC A is gearing to participate in the 2023 elections on the pretext the party has devised strategies to win rigged elections. No one in their right mind would want to be seen to back such nonsense!

The ordinary Zimbabweans must stop and think for themselves and not stop following blindly like sheep. Zanu PF has not implemented even one token reform since the July 2018 elections which everyone knew were going to be rigged and were rigged. With no reforms in place Zanu PF is set to rig the 2023 elections too!

When people asked why the nation was going into the 2018 elections with no reforms in place Chamisa assured the nation MDC A was going to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. "MDC A has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections!" We all know that this was a lie.

Of course, it is insane for the nation to be dragged into yet another flawed and illegal election on the basis of yet another lie. MDC A does not have an strategies to win rigged elections.

We really need to put our foot down and demand the implementation of the reforms so elections are free, fair and credible. Let us deal with this curse of rigged elections and settle it once and once for all and end this nonsense of devising strategies to win rigged elections.

Insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again expecting a different result! We had dialogue between Zanu PF and MDC is 2008 and that led to the formation of the 2008 to 2013 GNU.

The primary task of the GNU was to implement the democratic reforms to ensure the blatant cheating and wanton violence that had marred the 2008 elections would not be repeated ever again. Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends were GNU partner who were expected to spearhead the reforms.

Mugabe, who did not want any reforms, bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office, the ministerial limos, the very generous salaries and allowances, a US$4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc., etc. With their snouts in the feeding trough the MDC leaders forgot about the reforms.

MDC failed to implement even one reform in five years of the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Not ever one token reform!

Zimbabwe is stuck in this economic and political mess because Zanu PF was able to blatantly rig the 2013 elections and the 2018 elections.

If the democratic reforms are not implemented, we can be absolutely certain that Zanu PF will rig the 2023 just as the party rigged the 2013 and 2018 elections. We need a body that will implement the democratic reforms.

Another Zanu PF and MDC dialogue leading to the formation of another Zanu PF and MDC GNU is a waste of time because both these parties have never admitted the last GNU failed to implement the reforms. It is insane to trust the same buffoons to carry out this important task. And it is blasphemous to be evoking the name of the Almighty is one’s folly!
