Matemadanda fired for "verbal diarrhoea decimating MDC A" - demand now is for credible opposition P Guramatunhu

“Zanu PF has relieved Victor Matemadanda from the political commissar post over incompetence and his verbal diarrhoea remarks on the decimation of the opposition MDC Alliance,” reported Bulawayo 24.

“Speaking at the Zanu PF Mashonaland East provincial co-ordinating committee meeting in Marondera on Sunday, Matemadanda took numerous jabs at MDC Alliance leader, Nelson Chamisa, including saying his party is melting like a candle and they (the ruling party) are not yet done.”

Actually, everyone in Zanu PF is very pleased; none more pleased than President Mnangagwa himself; that MDC A is imploding. The last year has been bad enough for Zanu PF without having to worry about MDC A highlighting the many problems.

President Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is open for business!” mantra; launched soon after the November 2017 coup and of which he was cocksure would deliver economic recovery; died soon after the launch. The regime’s failure to keep its promise to hold free and fair elections, to stamp out corruption, etc. confirmed the country was still a pariah state and snuffed out all hope of any meaningful economic recovery.

Investors are a shrewd and savvy lot; they do not do business in a pariah state.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state, there will be no meaningful economic recovery much less the economic miracle of Zimbabwe becoming an “upper middle income nation by 2030, Vision 2030” that President Mnangagwa and his Minister of Finance, Professor Mthuli Ncube, wittering about!

The corona virus pandemic has made the country’s bad economic and health situation even worse. And by handling the pandemic with the usual blundering incompetence, Zanu PF has turned a tragedy into a catastrophe. The country has managed to keep its official covid-19 cases and deaths figures very low by not testing for the virus, for example.

The price of not testing is infected people who should be in isolation continue to live in the community and thus spread the virus.

So far, Zimbabwe has secured enough vaccines to vaccinate 500 000 and will be very lucky to reach the 10 million head-immunity by the end 2022 as we are depending on donated vaccines. SA, which is buying most of its own vaccines, is hoping to achieve its head immunity by the end of this years. The delay in reaching the head immunity will cause more economic disruption and cost more human suffering and deaths.

Zimbabwe has the money to buy the vaccines and lots beside; if only the country would act and stop the wholesale looting that has being going on for decades now!

"We don't need anyone's money (to finance development) as we can do it on our own. Sometimes it's just the mindset and belief to achieve that," Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Dr John Mangudya, told Business Times last month.

"Like what oil is to Nigeria, gold is to Zimbabwe. The precious mineral alone has the potential to turn around the country's fortunes.”

It is estimated that Zimbabwe is losing a staggering US$1.2 billion worth of gold is smuggled out of the country every year.

On 3 March 2016 then President Mugabe admitted that the nation had lost $15 billion worth of diamonds because of the looting and plunder in Marange and Chiadzwa.

Of course, President Mnangagwa must be very, very pleased that MDC A is imploding and therefore have completely taken their eyes off the ball. Otherwise, he and his entire Zanu PF cabinet would been squealing like pigs if just one MDC A MP had forced the regime to carry out corona virus tests as WHO recommendations and thus forced the regime to reveal the true covid-19 cases and deaths figures.

However, as much as Zanu PF is very pleased that MDC A is imploding, Mnangagwa knows the importance of keeping up the pretence that MDC A is a formidable opposition. The importance of be subtle!

“Usachenjedza vanyamukuta kuzvara uchada!” (Never insult the midwife whilst you still need her expert service!) so goes the Shona adage!

Zanu PF leaders are well versed in being subtle!

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC people have learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life and not rock the boat!) Zanu PF cronies boosted during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing the reforms. They would always follow this with a finger to their mouth!

It was in Zanu PF’s interest to string Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends along even though they were selling out by failing to implement the reforms. Even after the GNU, Zanu PF has been very careful never to gloat about MDC leaders being corrupt, incompetent and sell outs because Zanu PF’s legitimacy is dependent on maintain the pretence that MDC leaders are a credible opposition.

Victor Matemadanda has mockingly dismissed Chamisa, whose MDC A has all but imploded, as nothing but a Chihuahua that has lost its teeth, bark and can hardly stand. It is absurd that the marauding elephant, Mnangagwa, should even consider Chamisa a threat.

By completely discrediting the MDC A as a political force, Matemadanda has given the people of Zimbabwe the impetus to demand the implementation of democratic reforms leading to the holding of free, fair and credible elections. This is exactly what Zanu PF has fought hard to avoid! And no wonder Matemadanda has been summarily fired -  he lacked political fineness to appreciate incompetent and corrupt MDC was exactly what Zanu PF needed as the opposition!

  1. It is easy to see why Mnangagwa was outraged by Matemadanda; by discrediting MDC A completely he has exposed the reality that the MDC leaders are corrupt and incompetent and have lost credibility. Mnangagwa is angry with that because he now knows that the country must now search for a credible opposition - the last thing he wanted!

  2. PCR Tests 3074

    Cases 36 805 (27)
    Deaths 1 518(0)
    Vaccinate 1 shot 61 093 (6 202) 2nd shot 6 569 (2474)

Has Zimbabwe paid for the vaccines or are we waiting on the generosity of other nation. If we paid for the vaccines we can reach head immunity by end of this year. If we wait for donated vaccines then it could be June 2022 or worse before we reach head immunity!

  3. THE World Health Organisation (WHO) has cleared the controversy surrounding the Chinese Covid-19 vaccine, Sinopharm, saying countries were free to import the drug and administer it.

Sinopharm has not yet been certified by the global health agency, as it is currently undergoing the evaluation process.

There have been general reservations about the Covid-19 vaccines globally with Zimbabweans being among those reluctant to take the Chinese vaccine due to widespread speculation and unfounded conspiracy theories against it.

As at this week, less than 40 000 people had been vaccinated out of the 400 000 Sinopharm jabs donated by China. Zimbabwe is targeting to inoculate 10 million people to achieve herd immunity.

Only four vaccines have so far been approved by WHO, namely AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer-Biotech and Modena.

  4. The signing of the 2008 Global Political Agreement leading to the formation of the GNU forced Mugabe, Mnangagwa and a few others in Zanu PF to accept the days of a de facto one-party dictatorship were over. They were smart enough to quickly accept the reality of a multi-party system and set off to create the opposition they wanted.

Mugabe knew from first-hand experience of dealing with his own Zanu PF leaders that most politicians are corrupt, incompetent, pompous and, if their ever had any moral compass at all, it is broken; given the right inducement they will do whatever he wanted them to do. Mugabe must have been pleasantly surprised at how easily he was able to bribe Morgan Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC friends. They were so grateful at being on the gravy train they spent the five years grovelling before him and singing his praises.

Mugabe is “the unflappable father of the nation, fountain of all wisdom!” sung Tendai Biti.

Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga, an individual known for talking too much no housefly has ever landed on her mouth, admitted to being “speechless” in Mugabe’s presence!

You are right Zanu PF cronies did boost that MDC leaders had learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life and were keeping their mouths shut over reforms. The cronies did not shout from the rooftop about how MDC leaders had sold out because they had the common sense to know that would force Morgan Tsvangirai and company to implement at least a few reforms to hide their shame.

As Zanu PF political commissar one would have expected Victor Matemadanda to know that the party was spending millions of dollar destroying MDC and spending even more money promoting the false narrative that MDC leaders are competent, Tsvangirai was an Icon of Democracy, and the party is on the verge of winning power in Zimbabwe. The party does not need even one reform implemented, MDC can easily win rigged elections. Easily!

Matemadanda was telling the truth that Chamisa was now a toothless Chihuahua that had lost its bark and could hardly stand. Of course, it is absurd for the marauding elephant to even pretend to be scared of a ball of fair! Matemadanda was fire for undermining Zanu PF’s false narrative that Chamisa and his MDC friends were a credible opposition.

The pseudo multi-party democracy Zanu PF fostered on the nation after the GNU is nothing but the same de facto one-party dictatorship plus a mix of surrogate puppet political parties control by Zanu PF masquerading as a democracy.

Now that the gene is out of the bottle MDC leaders are corrupt, incompetent and utterly, utterly useless Zanu PF puppets who will never ever implement any democratic reforms; the search is on for a health and functioning democratic system of government and competent political leaders. Nothing is going to stop us now! Nothing!

“Of course, those are your wishes that mdc alliance is imploding and they will remain wishes. During Mugabe days we saw similar things where in daily bases pple were paraded on national zanu broadcasting TV station and state news papers burning mdc t shirts denouncing the party many times they were assassination attempts on our late president by zanu the latest being in 2007 where he was beaten by zanu thugs and left for dead. But all never worked so are these defections and zanu court rulings in favour of zanu puppets. If you and zanu think mdc alliance is imploding can do so at your own stupidity. Go out listen to pple they know which is their political party and it is mdc alliance like it or not it is like that.”

You are putting up a fight to maintain the pretence that Chamisa and the MDC A are still a credible opposition. After all your ranting, not even you can deny that MDC A failed to hold Zanu PF to account over the party’s blundering incompetence in the handling of this corona virus pandemic. Not even you can deny that the party has failed to bring about even one democratic reform in all the party’s 21 years, 5 in the GNU, on the political stage!

Matemadanda was fired not because he lied about MDC A being a toothless Zanu PF poodle! What he is true Mnangagwa fired him because he knows that with MDC A discredited Zanu PF will have a tough time rigging the elections and getting away with it. A totally discredited opposition will not give the flawed and illegal election process credibility and the result legitimacy!

  6. “When a coward sees a man he can beat he becomes hungry for a fight.”― No Longer at Ease, Chinua Achebe.

“And to hear the coward relate the fight, one would think he fought a lion!” Achebe should have added.

The 2008 Global Political Agreement forced Mugabe to accept the need to implement a raft of democratic reforms who effect was to dismantle his long cherished de facto one-party dictatorship. What Mugabe did was bribe Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends with the trappings of high office, the ministerial limos, the very generous salaries and allowances, a US$4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc. etc. It worked; whilst the MDC leaders had their snouts in the feeding trough, they forgot about implementing the reforms.

Indeed, the MDC leaders were so taken by Mugabe’s generous bribes they falling over each other in singing the dictator’s praises. Mugabe is “unflappable father of the nation and the fountain of wisdom”, sung Tendai Biti.

Houseflies that had never landed on Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga’s lips suddenly found they could; in Mugabe’s presence, she was “speechless” with owe she confessed!

Mugabe the calculating and ruthless tyrant who rigged elections and committed mass murder during Gukurahundi because he feared losing power in a multi-party democratic system of government; now realised he could have the multi-party system after all if his political opponent was Morgan Tsvangirai. When SADC leaders wanted the July 2013 elections postponed, it was Mugabe who wanted the elections to go ahead. He had fought someone he could beat and was hungry for a fight!

You are right, Patrick, Mugabe and now Mnangagwa has been very careful not to let on that Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends are corrupt, incompetent and Zanu PF puppets who will never ever implement even one meaningful reform even if they were given the cat’s nine lives!

Matemadanda was summarily fired for letting the gene out of the bottle that MDC A has imploded and Chamisa is just a toothless Chihuahua that has lost its bark and is so feeble it cannot een stand! Mnangagwa and Zanu PF’s legitimacy is now on the line, the lion Zanu PF has been fighting against now turns out to be nothing but of ball of shaggy fur!

The clarion call today is for meaningful democratic reforms that will deliver a healthy and functioning democracy. To get quality competent and visionary leaders we must first create a political system that allows quality to rise to the top. Zimbabwe’s present political system is a stagnant sewage pond in which scum rises to the top. We must drain the sewage pond!

“We know you man you are SG of a briefcase political party. Wish you good lucky. But the method you are using of trying to blame the mdc alliance for nothing will.never bring voters to your party try something else . Making noise on byo 24 news than creating structures of your party at grass roots is not how political parties come to power. We have a very credible opposition in this country which is govt in waiting even you know it.”

Zimbabwe Social Democrats (ZSD) is a political party whose members are committed to delivering the democratic reforms necessary to end the de facto one-party dictatorship. The members know as long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state under the dictatorship nothing of substance will ever change.

Any political party that exists out there is full of thugs and supporters who are as blind as mole because the political system is conducive to thugs and brain-dead supporters. If ZSD had launched as a fully fledged political party then it would have just become another opposition party no different from MDC A, Zanu PF, etc. drowning in the sewage pond of mediocracy.

Trust me it is better to be a coherent and focused briefcase political party than MDC A with all its endless fighting and, worst of all, army of corrupt and incompetent leaders.

Now that the world is beginning to see MDC leaders for the corrupt, incompetent and discredited opposition leaders that they are, it is clear Zanu PF will not have legitimacy. This opens the opportunity to have the democratic reforms finally implemented and with that the chance to drain the sewage pond. Zanu PF and MDC have thrived in the sewage pond, I do not think they will in clean oxygenated water of free speech and democratic competition! Principled party like ZSD will be launched and will thrive!

“Actually you have blamed mdc alliance for nothing more than zanu pf . No one understand what exactly you stand for. Just a confused lot!”

I have blame Zanu PF for the Gukurahundi massacre, for the corruption and looting, for the regime’s blundering incompetence in the handling of the corona virus pandemic, etc., etc. You have failed to notice any of this because you think I should have nothing critical to say about MDC because whatever they have done is nothing compared to what Zanu PF has done. Only a village idiot like you would think like that!

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders in to power on the understanding the party would implement the democratic changes, as the party name implies. Zanu PF’s Gukurahundi murders, etc. have nothing to do with MDC leaders selling out by failing to implement reforms. So why should I let MDC leaders off the hook for selling out just because Zanu PF murdered innocent people?

You, Mwembe, have a binary mentality. Instead of seeing the world in the spectacular multi-colour rainbow you limit yourself to the monochrome of black and white, right and wrong. You judge Zanu PF as worse compared to MDC and so you classify MDC as right and airbrush all the wrong the party has ever committed. I refuse to airbrush MDC’s treasonous betrayals because I can see other sheds of right beyond MDC!

The real tragedy here is that there are hundreds of thousands of dimwits just like you and you all have the vote hence the reason the country is in this mess. All one can do try to get you lot to open your eyes and minds – it is hard enough to get you to open your eyes and near impossible to get you to open that hermetically sealed coconut! I know this because I have tried!

“Wilbert Mukori action is better than words not just wara wara here bring the required reforms instead of saying we know reforms we know reforms. Make things happen and prove to the voters that you are a force to recon with. But as it is you are a useless briefcase party just day dreaming with no direction. Organize pple and demand for reforms that you have been making noise for than spend time on byo 24 news waffling .Which SG of any political party have you seen making noise everyday on social media other than you ? To me the way you blame mdc alliance for nothing everyday your party is a zanu pf ally.”

You really are a spatter brain! Now you holding me responsible for failing to bring reforms!

Well none of the voters out there would agree with you on that because their risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders to bring reforms and after 21 years the party has nothing to show for it. Surely it is MDC leaders who should be held to account.

Your beef with me is that I have taken a leading role in demanding we hold the MDC leaders’ legs to the fire. Of course, MDC leaders sold-out big time and if we are serious about change then we cannot be seen to condone high treason!

“I foresee you relieved of your SG position like Matemadanda bcoz you are a directionless SG who is failing to work with other opposition political parties to remove zanu instead you are busy creating enemies every day on social media. If your party is serious and wants to be a strong political party they must get rid of you ASAP or else you are headed no way.”

If ZSD had launched as a political party we would have attracted people like you into the party and, as we feared, we would have been forced to become just another mediocre opposition party. I would have resigned a long, time ago.

I can hardly tolerate your idiotic narrow mindedness on this site and can only imagine what it would be like to have to listen to this thrash from half a dozen like you in a party coccus! As much as I am passionate about change in Zimbabwe, I know a rat race when I see one. Zanu PF, MDC A and the rest of our opposition parties are all in a rat race and hence the reason the country is in a mess!

All in all you are fit to be a meer columnist not a SG of a political party you understanding of politics in this country does not go beyond reforms actually you have caused a lot of damage to your briefcase party by your reforms hallucinations.”

ZSD is not going to participate in flawed and illegal elections particularly when doing so gives legitimacy to the vote rigging Zanu PF.

You turn! Please explain to the readers what MDC A has ever accomplished by participating in flawed and illegal elections, give Zanu PF legitimacy and then spend the next five years complaining that Zanu PF stole the elections. And then, surprise, surprise, do the whole thing all over again.

MDC A is gearing to participate in the by-elections and the 2023 elections – if the party lose it will complain the elections were rigged, guaranteed! Zanu PF will rig the elections, that too is guaranteed. Some one has to call a halt and put an end to this madness!

This shows total incompetence on your side as SG . First time in the world to hear of a political party that is formed to insult other opposing political parties which does not want to be voted for. Such kind of a political party is usually a puppet . We saw such parties during struggle like Nathan Shamuyarira party.”

ZSD is working to have ALL the democratic reforms implemented so that every Zimbabwean’s freedoms and rights are restored including the right to free elections and even the right to life. The party will never ever sell-out on reforms and compound the situation by participate in a flawed and illegal election and give legitimacy to Zanu PF for the sake of a few gravy train seats. ZSD will hold those who are selling out the nation under the pretext of representing them to account! These are the things the party stand for and will fight for!

If refusing to join the sell-outs in the rat race makes ZSD a party for puppets then so be it!

  9. Trust Maanda, the Electoral Resource Centre (ERC) chairman, said the mounting vacancies in the legislature and local authorities had become a threat to democracy.

Maanda said the crisis was being compounded by the reluctance by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) to hold byelections since last year citing regulations to stop the spread of Covid-19.

There is no democracy in Zimbabwe and to suggest that the recall of MDC A MPs is a threat to democracy is utter nonsense. How does one threaten something that is not there and has never existed!

The July 2018 elections were a farce; there was no verified voters’ roll, 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora were denied a vote, etc., etc. Tendai Biti and all these recalled MPs participated in the flawed elections out of greed; Zanu PF dangled the few gravy train seats and they could not resist the bait!

Even if the by-elections went ahead, what guarantees are there the process will be free, fair and credible given there is still no verified voters’ roll, etc., etc.

Trust Maanda is just a village idiot who does not know what constitute free, fair and credible elections but likes to pontificating on matters he knows nothing about!

  10. Nelson Chamisa and the Americans are crying foul accusing President Mnangagwa of being behind the oppositions demise.

"Do you think that we liberated this country to surrender it? If that is the case, then we need to be examined by psychiatrists," Matemadanda was further quoted.

He also said, "Do you think that we missed a greater part of our youth days liberating this country to donate it? Are we donors? We will defend ourselves."

The Gokwe Central MP is now set to be reassigned to head a diplomatic mission. Presidential spokesperson George Charamba said:

"Matemadanda was not fired, but he has been reassigned for a higher responsibility out of the country. A number of our embassies have no representatives, hence there is a need to fill in those vacant posts."

I am both surprised and disappointed that any of the Americans could be so ill-informed as to believe that Zanu PF was behind MDC A’s demise. The party’s leaders are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent and no one should be surprised MDC A is imploding. Zanu PF is imploding for exactly the same reason and would be “ashes to ashes, dust to dust” was it not for the fact that it is the party in government and is milking the nation to death just to sustaining its wasteful supporters through its patronage system!

The real reason Mnangagwa fired Matemadanda is that by publicly admitting MDC A is imploding and is now a totally spend-force he has rob Zanu PF of all the pretence MDC A was credible opposition. Zanu PF needed this charade of MDC A as a credible opposition for its legitimacy! A totally discredited MDC A meanings Zanu PF now has a serious legitimacy problem.

  11. Addressing Zanu-PF's central committee yesterday, Mnangagwa said the respect of the former liberation movement's constitution, as well as loyalty, discipline and servant leadership should always be the party's guiding principles.

"It is pleasing that all district co-ordinating committees (DCCs) are now fully constituted. I urge the central committee to support the relevant departments to nurture and raise political and ideological consciousness among the DCC leadership.

"The respect of the party constitution, loyalty, discipline and servant leadership must always be our guiding principles.

"We are a party that serves the people and serving does not entail having a post. There is no room for unbridled ambitions in the party," Mnangagwa said.

"Those with tendencies of pretending as if party structures are their personal property must stand warned and stop the unbecoming practice.

"We are a people's party. No one can ever change this deep- rooted trait of our colossal, revolutionary party. DCC posts should not be seen as stepping stones for canvassing support for parliamentary and other positions," Mnangagwa added.

“Loyalty, discipline and servant leadership!” Look who is talking!

Zanu PF has blatantly rigged elections and committed wanton violence to ensure the party retain its iron grip on absolute power and it was none other than Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa himself who has carried out this dirty work on behalf of the party. Over 30 000 Zimbabweans have been murdered by Zanu PF in the last 41 years to establish and retain the de facto Zanu PF one-party dictatorship.

Sir, you did not kill all these innocent people to be the people’s servant. You killed to make sure enjoyed absolute power over the people, you became the master and the people because your slaves, not even servants but slaves.

You, Mr Mnangagwa, did not become the top dog in Zanu PF by observing any of these rules and the party’s constitution. You are top dog today because you broke each and everyone of these rule and had nothing but contempt for the party’s constitution. We all know these rules and the party’s constitution are all applied selectively by those at the top; they are an excuse for the leaders to punish whosoever they want because everyone has broken the rules to be where they are! How else can one climb the greasy pole!

  12. As much as Matemadanda and his fellow brain dead in Zanu PF would like to claim credit for the implosion in MDC A, the truth is Chamisa and company shot themselves in the foot. What is undeniable is that MDC A has lost all political credibility, the implosion was the coup de grace.

By participating in the flawed and illegal 2018 elections, the MDC A and the rest in the opposition camp gave the process credibility and, by extension, gave the vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy. But a totally discredited MDC A and the opposition will not give the vote rigging Zanu PF any legitimacy and this is what Mnangagwa and the rest in Zanu PF are rightly worried about!
