"No reform, no election; however we will not boycott elections regardless," says Chamisa - clear as mud pompous one! P Guramatunhu.

“There will be no delaying of an election. There will be reforms. It is either reforms or there will be no election. That is our position and we are prepared to surrender ourselves before we surrender our victory,” said MDC-T new President, Nelson Chamisa.

“This thing of nichodemously printing ballot papers through Nikuv or any other group, Chinese, Israeli or any other, we will not accept. And when we say that we will not accept it doesn’t mean that we will boycott an election, we will simply make sure that there is no election without reforms.”

Yes, the pompous one! You have made you position as clear as mud! If there are no reforms then there will be no elections however if there are no reforms, MDC will not boycott elections! As clear as mud!

Chamisa, you and your MDC friends had the golden opportunity to implement all the democratic reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections during the GNU and you wasted that opportunity.

If Mnangagwa is going to be forced to implement any reforms it will be because he fears the real threat from Mugabe or/and Jonathan Moyo to expose the details of how he rigged the elections. Even before Mugabe stepped back on the political stage there was a real possibility that SADC leaders were not going to turn a blind-eye to yet another rigged election in Zimbabwe as they did in 2013.

The November 2017 coup scarred the regional leaders to their sense; they know the coup could have easily turned a bloody affair. Another rigged election will only mean another coup, this time things may well turn very ugly for Zimbabwe and the region! Besides, SADC leaders will look very foolish if the endorsed another rigged elections only for Mugabe to produce the evidence of the vote rigging, evidence SADC leaders knew of but swept under the carpet!

SADC leaders have advised MDC and the rest in the opposition not to contest the elections without first implementing the reforms. Everyone knows that the only reasons MDC leaders have disregarded the advice is greed, as David Coltart has readily admitted in his recent book.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the elections,” explained Senator Coltart.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

The failure to form the coalitions was just a feeble excuse for contesting the 2013 elections; the MDC factions have come together to form the MDC Alliance and the issue of boycotting elections has been ignored again for the same reason – greed.

Chamisa’s statement above is just the usual nonsense the nation has learn to expect from MDC leaders; say one thing in one sentence and contradict themselves in the next!

Nelson Chamisa should just go back to talking about the bullet trains he has been building in his cloud cuckoo-land! We hear they are faster than the bullet fired from an AK47 rifle! There we are, now go back to your trains. There is a good boy! (He is not just corrupt and incompetent, he is pompous too!)

  1. "They (ZANU PF) are paying lip service to a free and fair election and we know that Mr Mnangagwa is just saying things that he is not prepared to execute," said Chamisa.

It is true Zanu PF is paying lip service to holding free and fair elections because they also know that Chamisa and his friends in the opposition camp will take part in the election regardless how flawed and illegal the process should be.

"There will be no delay of an election, there will be reforms, it's either reforms or there will be no elections which are not free and fair.

"That is our position and we are prepared to surrender ourselves before we surrender our victory." Says Chamisa, in the usual posturing and grandstanding, one minute!

In the next minute, "When we say we will not accept, it does not mean we will boycott an election."

One does not need to be a political Scientist to know this was all hot air, MDC will take part in the elections even if not even one reform was implemented.

Chamisa and his MDC friends failed to get even one reform implemented when they had the golden opportunity to do so during the GNU. Ever since they knew Zanu PF had the initiative and they had lost all political credibility and so all they are doing now is grandstanding and acting tough for the sake of their naïve and gullible supporters! The pressure on Zanu PF to hold free and fair elections is coming from other quarters and not from the discredited MDC politicians!

"WAR! the invaders were shouting that day and for the last eighteen years a slow, creeping economic, social and moral war has unravelled our lives and our country. Everyone knows the statistics that followed: 80% food imports; 90% unemployment; a quarter of the population in exile in the Diaspora; thousands dead from cholera, hunger, malnutrition; thousands killed in political violence; a collapsed currency; inflation in the billion percent range and the list of horrors goes on and on," you said.

"Mr Mugabe did not do this alone to Zimbabwe!"

Sadly, many of our own people out there are so naïve and gullible they have already accepted the "airbrushed" history of Zimbabwe in which all Zimbabwe's political and economic ills were performed by Mugabe and "criminal elements around him who sought to capture the state power and the people's revolution!" The criminal elections have been targeted and neutralised.

The thugs who have worked hand in glove with Mugabe all his 37 years of corrupt, vote rigging and murderous rule and took their share of the absolute power and the wealth that flowed from it all are now pretending they were innocent of any wrong doing. Yes, even the November military coup has been rebranded "a military assisted transition"! Along the same lines as the 2008 blatant vote cheating of the March elections in which Tsvangirai's 73% was whittled down to 47% to force the run-off. The regime has airbrushed that to read "Tsvangirai win the March vote but failing to get the 50% plus 1!"

What is heart-breaking here that Mugabe together with President Mnangagwa and the overwhelming majority in his regime committed all these acts of treason against the nation for which they should be held to account and face justice! Instead they are walking away scot free and some naïve and gullible people even want to give the lot their vote!

The right to vote should be a blessing but now in these irresponsible hands it has become a curse! Zimbabwe is in this mess because we have more than our fair share of idiots with a vote and, as long as they do not learn from their folly, we have no hope of ever escaping from this hell.

  4. The MDC supporters believed that the new constitution would delivery free, fair and credible elections; it did not, as we all know. The MDC supporters should have been all out demanding an explanation from their party leaders.

MDC leaders have said "No reform, no elections!" and hence the reason why the party has not contested ant by-elections since 2013. Now the party has changed tact again. If the MDC supporters have any working grey stuff between their ears then they must demand to know what has changed?

After 38 years of rigged elections, it is insane to keep on participating in the flawed and illegal process hoping against hope that Zanu PF will rig the vote and lose the elections.

SADC leaders have already advised MDC leaders not to take part in the elections with no reforms in place. Why is MDC not paying heed?

Zimbabwe needs a thinking electorate and not these wildebeest herds in their red regalia who just follow like sheep!

  5. One of the great weakness of the people of Zimbabwe is they failure to understand issues and so they have time and time again acted in a manner contrary to their own interest. As much as the Lacoste faction was less evil than the G40 faction it is foolish to believe the Lacoste faction portraying themselves as innocent of all the evil Zanu PF has done in the last 37 years. Only first class fools would ever accept Lacoste's attempts to retain Zanu PF's tyrannical powers including the power to rig elections.

The democratic reforms giving political power to hold those in power back to the people is not negotiable. President Mnangagwa and his coup Junta must not be allowed to get away with not implementing the reforms. Mugabe and Moyo, have their own reasons why they would want to tell the world how the Junta has rigged the elections, what matters here is that their information will help us make sure Zanu PF does not get away with refusing to implement the reforms.

By refusing to implement the reforms the Lacoste faction is our public enemy now and not G40 faction. It was very foolish to have taken sides in the Zanu PF factional wars when we all know the suffering the regime had inflicted on us all. To take sides with Lacoste now when it is the one that is set to takeover the dictatorship and perpetuate our suffering only goes to show how some people have no clue what is in their own interest.
