ED apologist accuse US Senators of "anti - abolitionist" mentality - hats fits ED perfectly W Mukori

Obi Egbuna Jr, you are a Zanu PF apologist who has written some nonsensical article in defence of the regime in the past but this time you have real gone over and beyond the call of duty. Even an apologist is entitled to some self-respect; in this article you have sold your body and soul to the devil!

“We have to say by attempting to use the US-EU sanctions as a political measure aimed at the strangulating and intimidating President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF, liberals like former VP Biden and Senator Coons are upholding the tradition of Delaware, who as so-called African Americans are well aware rejected the 13th 14th and 15th amendments that were aimed at abolishing chattel slavery being incorporated into the US Constitution. Delaware rejected the 13th amendment on February 8, 1865, the 14th Amendment on February 8, 1867 and the 15th amendment was rejected on March 18, 1869,” you write.

Former VP Biden and Senator Coons did not vote to reject the 13th Amendment on February 8, 1865 for the simple reason that they were not alive at the time. But even if they had been alive then, these two gentlemen have done nothing that would lead anyone to concluded they would have voted to reject the abolition of slavery. On the contrary, what they have done would leave one in no doubt that they would have been leading the drive to abolish slavery from the front.

The two have called for the imposition of targeted sanction of Zanu PF leaders as a way of forcing the regime to uphold human rights including the right to free and fair elections. The regime and its apologists have always denied failing to hold free and fair elections and insisting the sanctions were imposed to punish the regime for seizing farms from the whites.

SADC and the AU, African regional groups of which Zimbabwe is a member have since condemned Zimbabwe’s 2008 elections because the process was not free and fair and thus put to shame the denial that Zanu PF had failed to hold free and fair elections. SADC leaders forced Zanu PF to join hands with the two MDC factions to form a Government of Nation (GNU) which was then tasked to implement a raft of democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging future elections.

Sadly, the GNU failed to get even one reform implemented in five years because Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of the gravy train lifestyle and they, in return, kicked the reforms out of the window.

The Americans have said they will lift imposed sanctions on Zanu PF leaders if the regime implement the same reforms that SADC had called for; free media, free Police, allow Zimbabweans in the diaspora to vote, etc.

Ever since coming to power following the November 2017 coup, President Mnangagwa has promised to hold free, fair and credible elections. The reforms SADC called for and the American are reminding him of are the pre-requisite for free and fair elections. If he really meant to hold free and fair elections he should have implemented the reforms without any need to be prompted by anyone.

“We have to say by attempting to use the US-EU sanctions as a political measure aimed at the strangulating and intimidating President Mnangagwa and Zanu-PF,” complain Obi Egbuna Jr.

Obi Egbuna Jr and his handlers in Zanu PF should be hanging their heads in shame that outsiders should putting pressure on Zanu PF to restore the freedoms and rights of Zimbabweans. It beggars belief that Obi Egbuna Jr should be defending the regime’s outrageous continued refusal to implement the reforms as if the regime has the right to rig elections.

It is President Mnangagwa that Obi, if he had even some semblances of common sense, should be comparing to the anti-abolitionists; they insisted that they had the right to own slaves and deny others their fundamental right to freedom, just as Mnangagwa is insisting that he has the right to rig elections and deny other their right to free and fair election.

"Zimbabwe is changing-politically, economically and societally-and we ask those who have punished us in the past to reconsider their sanctions against us. Zimbabwe is a land of potential, but it will be difficult to realise it with the weight of sanctions hanging from our necks," wrote President Mnangagwa in the New York Times.

"Those who cling to the sanctions are stuck in the old Zimbabwe – the Zimbabwe of poverty and international isolationism."

Out of his own mouth comes the history’s judgement! Of course, Zimbabwe will remain stuck in the past of vote rigging, corruption, tyranny and grinding poverty as long as those in power continue to resist meaningful democratic change.

The primary purpose of President Mnangagwa’s letter was to appeal to foreign investors and donors to do business in Zimbabwe again. There have been no takers because no investors want to do business in a country ruled by thugs. By stubbornly refusing to implement the democratic reforms designed to end Zanu PF’s carte blanche dictatorial powers President Mnangagwa and his apologists have confirmed that Zimbabwe is ruled by thugs stuck in their dictatorial ways!

  2. Obasanjo said Mugabe and Nkomo had abused military arsenal supplied to their guerrilla movements to "kill each other".

"At some stage, Nkomo and Mugabe began using the guns we were supplying them to kill each other.

"I tried to bring them to Nigeria for talks but they avoided each other and came at different times. However, they were to later meet and I had them sitting beside me. I had two pistols loaded so I said to them, 'I will give you each a gun so you can fight. The one who dies we will bury him here while the one who wins will go and fight the struggle," said Obasanjo.

He added, "They were surprised and argued it was too drastic a way to resolve their differences. I must say it seemed to have worked because just after that they went and formed the Patriotic Front and won independence for Zimbabwe".

I can just imagine Obasanjo doing this too, it seem the natural thing he would do!

  3. President Mnangagwa's "Zimbabwe is open for business !" call has failed to attract anyone, the economic recovery he was hoping for is not happening. Many Zimbabweans are waking up to this economic reality and that alone will make it impossible for ED and Zanu PF to win these elections.

But these elections are not going to be decided on the economy alone. Zanu PF has refused to implement even one reform and so the elections are not going to be free, fair and credible. Zanu PF has already shown the world what the party can do when it comes to rigging election. The vote rigging machine is doing its dirty work right now,

Mark my word Nomazulu, these elections are "done" and there is nothing you can do to undo the result! Zanu PF would like us all to participate in the flawed elections just to give the process credibility!

Frankly, I hope the international community, especially SADC, will declare the process null and void and ignore those opposition opportunist who are sell-out by taking part in a process they know is flawed!

  4. You are right that ED does not want the people of Zimbabwe to exercise their democratic freedoms and rights including the freedom of expression and association. The problem is also with our civic society who will not be honest and face up to the national challenges.

Even if we could not figure it out ourselves, SADC has already pointed the way out of our political crisis, implement the democratic reforms designed to give back the people all their democratic freedoms and rights. Zimbabwe's civic organisations have not helped by pretending they can solve the crisis by their voter education, election monitoring, peace missions, etc.!

SADC has advised that Zimbabwe elections must be postponed to allow reforms to be implemented first. None of Zimbabwe's many Civic Societies including the church based ones has ever come out in support of that call!

Zimbabwe has some breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent leaders and this is not just in political leaders but leaders in all walks of life including civic society - that is Zimbabwe's greatest curse!

  6. @ Jukwa

It is not Europeans who have been harassing, beating, raping and even murdering Zimbabweans to force them to vote for Zanu PF these last 38 years. That is what we are talking about here, you are bringing in the Europeans just to draw attention away from the oppression of blacks by blacks!

There was nothing to stop Zanu PF implementing the reforms during the GNU any of the party members had so wished. Indeed, we would not need any of these reforms if Zanu PF had not been a party of thugs who have ridden roughshod over povo's freedoms and rights all these years!

It is not Zanu PF's right to deny other Zimbabweans their freedoms and rights, that is the argument here! anyone does not have common sense, it is clearly you!

Of course MDC sold-out but that does not mean the nation must be stuck with the corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging Zanu PF either. Mukori is right, we need to advocate the implementation of the democratic reforms and allow ourselves the chance to clear the political stage of both MDC and Zanu PF.

You need to think outside the box and not limit yourself to think our choice is limited to either MDC or Zanu PF. Thinking outside the box demands a open, flexible mind, a mind capable of seeing all the colours of the rainbow and not a mind that will only see monochrome, black or white! Not many of us has such a mind, not all of us see and perceive hear and understand!

Nonsense! Are you telling the 3/4 of our people now living on US$1.00 or less a day, tough lucky? Zimbabwe can be a rich, peaceful and prosperous nation all we need is to remove the corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging thugs.

Politics is only a dirty game because we have allowed thugs to dominate our politics.

Zanu PF can rig these elections but it is already clear the regime is not going to get away with it! The elections are going to be declared null and void and force the implementation of the reforms.

  10. ED had the golden opportunity to show the world that Zimbabwe was “open for business” by holding free, fair and credible elections, he has failed to deliver that. He has refused to implement the democratic reforms without which it is impossible to have free and fair elections.

No investors are going to invest in a country in which the next regime change must be yet another coup!

  11. “We respect President Mnangagwa, follow his guidance but need to resolve the issue. But many people are arguing that the list is a violation of the law,” the Chinese deputy envoy to Harare said.
Boagang was not done just yet including an unsolicited take on the US, China’s economic competitor on the global stage.
“Do not point fingers at people especially at the Chinese. We believe you (Zimbabwe) can make a full investigation into this issue and certainly we feel that under President Mnangagwa’s leadership we can find a solution. The other thing is you find that there are few or no Americans on the list because they have not invested in this country.
“Chinese have invested that is why you find them on the list. Some Western politicians come to Africa and point fingers at the Chinese from airports and buildings constructed by the Chinese. We don’t care and nobody is going to stop the trajectory our relationship with Zimbabwe is taking. If you do nothing you are a saint, you do not make mistakes,” said Boagang.
He added: “We are not afraid of making mistakes and never afraid of criticism, we don’t care. But Zimbabwe must have a clear sight of who is their friend. You must be able to tell who is trying to poison the relationship. Do not miss the forest and target the tree”.
Mnangagwa is hoping China will help him kick start an economy that is literary in a vegetative State after being run into the ground by his predecessor Robert Mugabe’s 37 year political experiment.
China has milked Zimbabwe dry, it took full advantage of Mugabe's corrupt rule to prop the dictator and in return loot the country of her resources. China may consider itself a friend of Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs but it must never think the ordinary Zimbabweans will ever consider China their friend, they are not that stupid!
