One can point out to many reasons why Zimbabwe is a failed state, stuck in a rut and seemingly incapable of dig ourselves out of the rut. One of those reasons have to be our deep seated love rhetoric and flattery. We love flattery so much we even flatter ourselves silly!
"We defeated Zanu-PF twice, but they refused to go!” Nelson Chamisa told Botswana TV at the swearing in ceremony of that country’s new President Boko.
The official position is that Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2018 and 2023 Zimbabwe elections. Both SADC and AU, as did many other election observer missions, condemned the 2023 elections as flawed and illegal.
“Conclusion 13.3 The SEOM (SADC Election Observer Mission) noted that, as detailed in sections 6 and 7 of this report, some aspects of the Harmonised Elections fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021),” stated the SEOM report.
So is Nelson Chamisa agreeing with SEOM report that the election process was indeed flawed and illegal, that Zanu PF blatantly rigged the elections, and he none the less went on to win the rigged elections. Or is he saying Zanu PF did indeed rig the elections and he had lied in boasting of “plugging all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!” He even had the chutzpah to evoke the name of God!
Of course, Chamisa was lying, he had done nothing to plug Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. The country went into the elections without a verified voters’ roll although Team Pachedu, a Zimbabwean Activist Group, had said the voters’ roll was in shambles.
Indeed, Chamisa had failed to deploy election agents at all Polling Stations even though he had received the funding for it. He has never explained why CCC did not have election agents at over 500 Polling Stations according to some reports.
Anyone familiar with Zimbabwe’s political situation will tell you Zimbabwe is stuck politically for two basic reasons:
- on the one hand the nation has Zanu PF ruling elite who believe they have the divine right o rule the country by virtue of the party spearheaded the liberation war to end colonial rule. The regime has rig elections starting with the 1980 elections and has since imposed a de facto one party dictatorship to consolidate its iron grip on power.
- On the other hand the nation has the corrupt and incompetent opposition elected to implement reforms and the Zanu PF dictatorship but sold out and are helping to keep Zanu PF in power instead. The nation has had many opportunities to implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship especially during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. MDC/CCC leaders have wasted all these opportunities and since the GNU debacle have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the same reasons they failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU - incompetency and greed.

Defeated Zanu PF in an election process “so flawed, so illegal that the logical step was to withdraw.” Chamisa and company did not withdraw and participated to give Zanu PF legitimacy (they are hell bent in doing this again in the 2028 elections) out of greed. This is Zimbabwe’s political nightmare!

Yes Mnangagwa is President of Zimbabwe but how did he get there? SADC and AU election observers joined the rest of the world in condemning the 2023 elections as flawed and illegal. Like it or not Mnangagwa did not get the democratic mandate of the people by winning majority votes in a free, fair and credible elections. Mnangagwa is illegitimate, period!
He was booed by the people at President Duma Boko’s inauguration because he rigged Zimbabwe’s 2023 elections and he has been exporting his vote rigging expertise to other countries. Of course, people are right to shun Mnangagwa for the political skunk he is!

Well MDC/CCC leaders have been selling out for the last 24 years, they have been participating for a share of the spoils of power. The people of Zimbabwe have risked all to elect MDC/CCC leaders to bring about the democratic changes to end Zanu PF dictatorship. The fact that Chamisa and company have failed to implement even one token reform in 24 years, including 5 years in the GNU, and the people have failed to question this speaks volumes of just how dumb and stupid the people themselves are. How many more years will it take to finally open their eyes that MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent!

Zimbabwe is a failed state mainly because we have failed to to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. ReplyDeleteHARARE City Council on Thursday demolished houses in Ridgeview, Belvedere suburb citing the land had been illegally acquired from land barons.
ReplyDeleteThese houses did not go up over night, it have taken months if not years to build them. Why has the Council failed to act sooner and stopped the work?
Is the council punishing the land barons by destroying these houses or are they punishing the individuals who were, in all probability swindled by the land barons?
Most of the people building homes in urban centres would happily build them in their rural home if they had title deeds. Zanu PF, just like the colonial regimes before, continues to deny rural people title deeds keeping them poor and subservient just like medieval serfs for selfish political reasons.
Zimbabwe's ruling elite are destroying the country and we must act to stop this madness and the tragic human suffering it is causing!

By demolishing the houses, are the Council punishing the land barons or the victims swindled by the land barons?
For a country in which millions still live is homes not fit for human habitation it is criminal that those in positions of power and authority are destroying decent houses for no other reasons than harassing the people. This madness must be stopped!

ReplyDeleteMozambique is stuck! The violent protests against "rigged" elections are not dying down and so far have claimed over 50 lives. The Mozambique authorities have missed the dead line date for declaiming the official results because they cannot sweep under the carpet the evidence of election irregularities including reports of Zimbabweans voting.
SADC must call an urgent summit and take charge of the political situation. SADC must declare the October 2024 election process flawed and illegal and help negotiate for GNU to govern and organise fresh elections. The regional body must reprimand Zanu PF for interfering in Mozambique's elections!

SADC is as good as the component members who make up the body. There is very little quality in the individual members of SADC and so you should not be surprise that the regional body lacks quality too!
Still credit where credit is due, SADC did help to get Zanu PF to sign the 2008 Global Political Agreement which gave birth to the 2008 to 2013 GNU. If MDC leaders had not sold out and implemented the democratic reforms and stopped Zanu PF rigging elections; Zimbabwe would be a totally different place today!
The very fact that many Zimbabweans out there continue to blame SADC for the wasted opportunities to dismantle the Zanu PF dictatorship goes to show how little these people know even now with the benefit of hindsight. Our failure to learn from the past has seen us repeat the same foolish mistakes over and over again.

Zanu PF has carte blanche powers to rig the elections and the party’s greatest worry is that the opposition’s supporters must participate in the elections in their millions to give the process credibility. Zanu PF has many opportunities to generate enough votes to make sure the party wins the majority in parliament and win the presidency.
In 2018 there were 12 Polling Stations in which two stations had exactly the same number of total votes casts, votes cast for each candidate, same spoilt votes, etc., etc. and, most notable of all, Mnangagwa was leading with a big margin. It is highly unlikely that two Polling Stations in 10 000 would have identical results but to have 12 Polling Stations with identical results in every regard is IMPOSSIBLE! The only logical explanation was that these were duplicate entries. This could have been confirmed by demanding that the sealed ballot boxes from the 12 Polling Stations must be opened.
There was no way anyone would have produced duplicate boxes complete with the duplicate officials, etc., etc.. No way!
Constitution Judge Malaba asked Chamisa’s lawyer why they did not ask for sealed ballot boxes to be opened. “We did not want to drink from the poisoned well!” came the reply. It was clear; Chamisa would accuse Zanu PF of rigging elections in general terms but would not want concrete evidence to prove it and deny Zanu PF political credibility and legitimacy!
Like it or not MDC/CCC is Zanu PF team B in all but name; they play to make sure Zanu PF team A win with all the pretensions of a serious challenger to give the process credibility and team A political legitimacy. The real surprise is that after 24 years without even one token reform implemented there are millions of Zimbabweans foolish enough to believe MDC/CCC leaders are still fighting in povo’s corner. Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends have long stopped fighting for free and fair elections, they have been running with the povo hare and hunting with the Zanu PF hounds, voting for them will not change anything for povo - that is the point.
