MDC/CCC have "fought in the trenches for change" said Mahere. Nonsense. Name one change they have brought in 24 years? W Mukori

The sheer hypocrisy of Zimbabwe’s opposition stinks!

“On the 1st of November, I spoke on the phone with Duma Boko to congratulate him on an outstanding victory in Botswana’s elections. My voice crackled as we spoke.,” wrote Fadzayi Mahere in a recent article in Breaking News Channel (BNC).

“Anyone who has fought in the trenches for change knows how deep and dark the journey can sometimes feel. You fall down often. You fail more times than you succeed. At times, you give everything and it feels like you yield nothing – until change comes. I thanked him for his inspiration and for reminding us of what is possible.

“For Botswana, the old was dying and the new was being born.”

“Anyone who has fought in the trenches for change knows how deep and dark the journey can sometimes feel!” What the devil is she wittering about?

Ever since the 2008 to 2013 GNU MDC/CCC and Zanu PF leaders have worked as partners and shred the spoils of power. So when has Mahere ever been in the trenches and fighting who exactly?

The people of Zimbabwe have risked livelihoods, limbs and lives, over 500 died in the 2008 elections alone, to elect the MDC/CCC leaders into power for principle task of implementing the necessary democratic changes to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had their golden chance to implement the democratic reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU.

Robert Mugabe, who did not want his dictatorial powers including the carte blanche powers to rig elections scrapped, bribed Tsvangirai and company with the trappings of high office; the E-Class Mercedes Benz limos, the very generous salaries and allowances, a US$4 million Highlands mansion for Tsvangirai, etc., etc. In return the MDC leaders kicked the democratic reforms into the thorny-devil Cactus thicket!

Not even the constant nagging by SADC leaders got MDC leaders to implement even one token reform. Credit were credit is due SA’s Minister Lindiwe Zulu did her best to remind MDC leaders on the need to implement the reforms. Mugabe called her “street woman” for her troubles!

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC leaders have learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life, they will never rock the boat!) boasted Zanu PF cronies during the GNU when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing reforms.

Ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging and that participating would give the regime legitimacy. They have soldier on regardless for the same reasons they failed to implement reforms during the GNU - incompetency and greed.

The opposition party that conned the biggest number of their supporters to participate in the flawed elections got the few gravy train seats Zanu PF was offering as bait. Chamisa has conned his supporters to participate in the flawed elections with one idiotic lie after another.

Last year he told them CCC would win big because he had “plugged all Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!” The nation did not even have verified voters’ roll and yet knew, from Team Pachedu’s reports, that “the voters’ roll was in shambles”. Chamisa did not even deploy elections agents at 1 000 Polling Stations, or 10%, although he had received funding for it.

It is no exaggeration to say MDC/CCC have been Zanu PF team B in all but name, playing for team A to win and to give team A political legitimacy. How else can one explain why MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token reform in 24 years, including 5 in the GNU and have stubbornly insisted on participating in the flawed elections knowing the process is flawed and that participating will give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

Fadzayi Mahere and company know fully well that both SADC and AU election observers condemned 2023 elections as flawed and illegal and recommended that the country must implement a raft of democratic reforms to end this curse of rigged elections and bad governance. They know that not even one token reform will be implement and still they will participate in the 2028 elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the same reasons they participated in the past - incompetency and greed.

“I hope you know just how lucky you are to live in a democracy where the will of the people is respected and passion for country trumps the love of power!” Mahere told the Botswana citizen siting next to her at President Duma Boko’s inauguration ceremony.

True enough Zimbabwe is not a democracy and the nation has been held to ransom by Zanu PF leaders’ love of power ever since the country’s independence in 1980. Still, it must be said, the Zanu PF dictatorship has survived and even thrived these last 24 years thanks MDC/CCC leaders’ love of power!

If there is ever going to be any meaningful democratic changes in Zimbabwe then it is for Zimbabweans themselves to finally wakeup to the political reality that MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt, incompetent and liars. Chamisa and company will never ever deliver any democratic reforms; they failed to do so during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they had the golden opportunity to do so. It is naive to expect them to do so now when they are very comfortable and cosy, enjoying their share of the spoils of power with their senior partner, Zanu PF!

"Now realise ED2030 is against constitution. Ndiregererewo!" Yet to realise 44 years rigging and killing is against constitution. W Mukori

The Zanu PF factional war is hotting up and fight to be noticed is fierce and furious. “Chava chipatapata nhaka yamakonzo!” as my late mother would say.

“Fellow Zimbabweans, I apologize for my previous stance on 2030. I was blinded by loyalty, but I realize now that advocating for a third term goes against our constitution. Two terms are enough for a president. Let's empower other capable Zimbabweans to lead! Ndiregerereiwo.” posted Killer Zinhu, a former Zanu PF MP.

As much as many ordinary Zimbabweans would want to see every chapter and verse of the constitution honoured they must careful that they are not sucked into fighting a minor skirmish, the two term limit, at the expense of decisive battle, implementing democratic reforms to guarantee free, fair and credible elections not just in 2028 but for posterity.

This is not only about Mnangagwa honouring the constitution vis-a-vis the two term limit but even more significantly that he and Zanu PF must honour the fundamental freedoms and right of the people including the right to a meaningful vote and even the right to life. Zimbabwe is a failed state because the nation has been stuck with a corrupt, incompetent and murderous regime in power because they rig elections.

Mnangagwa and Zanu PF rigged the 2023 elections and this time even SADC and AU election observers condemned the election process as flawed and illegal. Mnangagwa and this regime are illegitimate.

The people of Zimbabwe must understand that this “2030 vaMnangagwa venenge vachipo!” is an Zanu PF factional matter to decide who should be the next dictator because we can be rest assured whoever emerge as the Zanu PF presidential candidate they will rig the 2028 elections. We should not concern ourselves with who should be the next dictator and focus on end the dictatorship.

Only a seasoned nincompoop like Killer Zinhu would be trumpeting his realisation “that advocating for a third term goes against our constitution” as his “Saul on the road to Damascus” moment! So he is still as blind as a mole to the monstrosity Mnangagwa rigged 2023 elections and that Zanu PF has rigged elections for the last 44 years and counting!

In 2017 the people Zimbabwe were conned into taking sides in what was clearly a Zanu PF factional war. Mnangagwa and his fellow 2017 military coup plotters made people believe that the coup would end Mugabe’s rule and restore their freedoms and right. VP Chiwenga portrayed himself as the defender of the constitutions before the coup; he could not name the chapter and verse to justify the coup because there is no such chapter and verse.

Mnangagwa promise to hold free, fair and credible elections. He did not implement even one token democratic reform and went on to blatantly rig the 2018 and last year’s elections.

Killer Zinhu, war veteran Blessing Geza and many other Chiwenga supporters are trying to stampede the nation into believing stopping this “2030 vaMnangagwa venenge varipo” bandwagon is the number one issue on the national agenda. This is just nonsense. Stopping Mnangagwa alone will accomplish nothing just as removing Mugabe in 2017 alone accomplished nothing.

The 2017 military coup was Pyrrhic victory for povo because we removed one dictator only for the dictatorship to replace him with another dictator. We must learn from the past; this time we must focus on ending the dictatorship itself by implementing the democratic reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections for all times!

"We defeated Zanu PF twice, they refused to go!" Nonsense Chamisa participated in rigged elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. W Mukori

One can point out to many reasons why Zimbabwe is a failed state, stuck in a rut and seemingly incapable of dig ourselves out of the rut. One of those reasons have to be our deep seated love rhetoric and flattery. We love flattery so much we even flatter ourselves silly!

"We defeated Zanu-PF twice, but they refused to go!” Nelson Chamisa told Botswana TV at the swearing in ceremony of that country’s new President Boko.

The official position is that Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2018 and 2023 Zimbabwe elections. Both SADC and AU, as did many other election observer missions, condemned the 2023 elections as flawed and illegal.

“Conclusion 13.3 The SEOM (SADC Election Observer Mission) noted that, as detailed in sections 6 and 7 of this report, some aspects of the Harmonised Elections fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021),” stated the SEOM report.

So is Nelson Chamisa agreeing with SEOM report that the election process was indeed flawed and illegal, that Zanu PF blatantly rigged the elections, and he none the less went on to win the rigged elections. Or is he saying Zanu PF did indeed rig the elections and he had lied in boasting of “plugging all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!” He even had the chutzpah to evoke the name of God!

Of course, Chamisa was lying, he had done nothing to plug Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. The country went into the elections without a verified voters’ roll although Team Pachedu, a Zimbabwean Activist Group, had said the voters’ roll was in shambles.

Indeed, Chamisa had failed to deploy election agents at all Polling Stations even though he had received the funding for it. He has never explained why CCC did not have election agents at over 500 Polling Stations according to some reports.

Anyone familiar with Zimbabwe’s political situation will tell you Zimbabwe is stuck politically for two basic reasons:

  • on the one hand the nation has Zanu PF ruling elite who believe they have the divine right o rule the country by virtue of the party spearheaded the liberation war to end colonial rule. The regime has rig elections starting with the 1980 elections and has since imposed a de facto one party dictatorship to consolidate its iron grip on power.

  • On the other hand the nation has the corrupt and incompetent opposition elected to implement reforms and the Zanu PF dictatorship but sold out and are helping to keep Zanu PF in power instead. The nation has had many opportunities to implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship especially during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. MDC/CCC leaders have wasted all these opportunities and since the GNU debacle have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the same reasons they failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU - incompetency and greed.

“We defeated Zanu-PF twice!” Yeah right! Defeated Zanu PF in an election process “so flawed, so illegal that the logical step was to withdraw.” Chamisa and company did not withdraw and participated to give Zanu PF legitimacy (they are hell bent in doing this again in the 2028 elections) out of greed. This is Zimbabwe’s political nightmare!

Donald Trump's bold plan to dismantle the 'Deep State'

In a sweeping statement, former President Donald Trump has outlined his comprehensive plan to dismantle what he refers to as the "Deep State," a term he uses to describe the entrenched bureaucratic apparatus within the U.S. government that he claims has undermined his presidency and subverted democratic principles. The plan touches on several key issues, ranging from national security reforms to transparency and government accountability.

1. Restoring Presidential Authority Over Bureaucrats

Trump’s plan begins with a call to reissue his 2020 executive order aimed at restoring presidential authority to remove what he calls "rogue bureaucrats." The former president has long criticized the so-called Deep State for operating outside of elected leaders' control, claiming that unelected officials have too much power and influence.

2. Overhauling National Security and Intelligence Agencies

Central to Trump's proposal is the removal of what he views as corrupt elements within national security and intelligence agencies. Trump has promised to “clean out” these agencies, calling for a deep overhaul to ensure loyalty to the government and not to hidden interests. He has previously accused parts of the intelligence community of attempting to undermine his presidency.

3. Reforming FISA Courts

Trump has also called for a "total reform" of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) courts, which he describes as corrupt, accusing them of being complicit in the misapplication of surveillance powers. His criticism stems from the controversial use of FISA warrants to investigate members of his 2016 campaign team, alleging that judges were misled in the process.

4. Exposing Hoaxes and Abuses of Power

A significant portion of Trump's plan focuses on exposing what he describes as hoaxes and abuses of power that have divided the nation. He has repeatedly called out investigations into his campaign and presidency, claiming they were part of an effort to discredit him and damage his political reputation.

5. Cracking Down on Government Leakers

In another strong statement, Trump vowed to launch a major crackdown on government leakers whom he accuses of colluding with the "fake news" media to spread false narratives. Trump has long argued that leaks from within the government have undermined his administration and undermined the public’s trust in democratic institutions.

6. Ensuring Inspector General Independence

Trump's reform plan includes making every Inspector General's office completely independent, with physical separation from the departments they oversee. He argues that such independence would prevent these watchdog agencies from becoming part of the Deep State protection network.

7. Establishing Independent Auditing of Intelligence Agencies

A significant part of Trump’s agenda involves the creation of an independent auditing system through Congress to monitor intelligence agencies. This system would ensure that these agencies are not spying on American citizens, running disinformation campaigns, or targeting political opponents, a claim Trump has made regarding the surveillance of his 2016 campaign.

8. Decentralizing Federal Bureaucracy

Trump is also pushing for a continued effort, begun during his administration, to relocate parts of the federal bureaucracy outside Washington, D.C. This initiative, he argues, would reduce the concentration of political influence in the nation’s capital and lessen the power of the Washington "Swamp."

9. Banning 'Revolving Door' Employment

Another key proposal in Trump's plan is to ban federal bureaucrats from taking jobs at the companies they regulate. This would aim to reduce conflicts of interest and prevent government officials from using their positions to benefit private industries after their terms in office.

10. Supporting Term Limits for Congress

Finally, Trump is calling for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on members of Congress. He argues that this would reduce career politicians' ability to form entrenched power structures and promote fresh leadership in Washington.

Trump's sweeping proposals are part of his ongoing political platform, aimed at curbing the influence of bureaucrats and entrenched interests in government. Critics of Trump’s agenda argue that these reforms could weaken the ability of government institutions to function independently, while supporters see it as a much-needed correction to a system they view as unaccountable and out of touch with the American people.

As Trump continues to position himself for a potential future run for president, his push to dismantle the so-called Deep State is likely to be a central theme in his political messaging moving forward.”

Some of these moves make sense.

Canadian think-tank confirm Zimbabwe's vision 2030 is a mirage, pity many continue to see what is not there. W Mukori

Of course vision 2030 is bullshit! The Zimbabwe economic meltdown has continued after the 2017 military coup because corruption is even than it was before the coup. All economic indicates point to economic meltdown but some people choose to see only what the regime tell them - vision 2030, a mirage.

Unemployment is a staggering 80% plus and the regime keeps wittering about “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo!” So the 20% are the ones rebuilding the nation from the poor failed state to upper middle income. They have six years to complete the work and yet the reality is there is no sign of any recovery the last 7 years after the 2017 coup!

Zimbabwe's economy remains among the least free globally, according to the Fraser Institute's newly released Economic Freedom Country Audit Zimbabwe (EFCAZ). The Canadian public policy think-tank, renowned for its Economic Freedom of the World annual survey, ranked Zimbabwe 172nd out of 165 countries worldwide, with a poor economic freedom score of 38.2. The country was also placed 46th out of 54 nations in sub-Saharan Africa.

Speaking at the launch of the country's audit in Harare on Wednesday, Fred McMahon, director of the Fraser Institute's Economic Freedom of the World program, highlighted the challenges Zimbabwe faces, including high inflation, volatile policies, restrictive licensing, and judicial inefficiencies. These factors have created a "repressed" state of the economy, according to the audit.

McMahon explained that countries with higher levels of economic freedom consistently experience higher rates of economic growth and a significant reduction in poverty. He emphasized that when individuals have the freedom to innovate, trade, and invest, the entire economy benefits.

"Economic freedom is simply the ability of individuals and families to make their own economic decisions free of interference from government," McMahon said, stressing that countries with a freer economic environment foster job creation, wealth generation, and overall prosperity.

Why a whole nation has been conned into believing this Vision 2030 mirage, it started soon after independence with “gutsa ruzhinji” - mass prosperity - when all signs showed the nation was sinking deeper and deeper into poverty speaks volumes of just how naive Zimbabweans are! Zimbabwe is a failed state and we deserve the dictatorship and all the suffering and misery it has brought upon us all.

Americans are electing 47th President with 250 year free and fair guarantee. We are not there yet! W Mukori

Americans are voting for the country’s next president. He (if Trump wins) or she (if Harris win) will be the 47 th President of the United States of America. Ever since George Washington, first President of USA 1789 to 1797, the country has elected a president every four years, regular as clock work. And in all these nearly 250 years the Americans have gone to the polls assured of two things:

  1. First and foremost, that the elections are free, fair and credible and the result will be the democratic will of the American people

  1. Second but just as important, the electorate had the cast iron guarantee that if the elected officials fail the nation they, the people, can remove them from office and elect others.

Ask any American what matters the most to them as they queue to vote and most will not even mention any one of the above two points. They have enjoyed these basic rights they are bound to take them for granted. Those of us from third world countries like Zimbabwe who have yet to hold free, fair and credible elections we talk of nothing else.

Zanu PF has rigged elections ever since the country’s independence in 1980. Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies told the people in 1980 if the party did not win that year’s elections, the bush war would continue. Of course the people voted to end the war and Zanu PF set out to systematical corrupt the nation institutions to create a de facto one-party dictatorship.

The country has had many chances to implement democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship with the best chance coming in the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Mugabe bribed Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends with the trappings of high office and, in return, kicked the reforms out of the window!

So 44 years after independence and in this day and age, Zimbabwe is stuck on first base unable to hold free, fair and credible elections for three basic reasons:

  1. Zimbabwe’s Zanu PF founding fathers have paid lip service to rally call of “One man, one vote!” They wanted absolute power for themselves and never ever wanted to risk losing that power by letting the people have a meaningful democratic vote including voting them out of office.

  1. Zanu PF has rigged the elections these last 44 years or be it the last 24 years was with the connivence of MDC/CCC leaders. MDC/CCC leaders have not only paid lip service to implement the democratic reforms to end the Zanu PF dictatorship, worse still they have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of incompetency and greed.

  1. Zimbabwe’s political paralysis could have been avoided if the Zimbabwean electorate had not been so ignorant, naive and gullible. Chamisa conning millions of Zimbabweans to participate in last year’s flawed elections because they believed his idiotic lie of plugging all vote rigging loop holes. It was obvious this was just an idiotic lie.

The political system of democracy - government of the people, for the people and by the people - is a 2 500 year old Greek invention. The Americans adopted the system and it has delivered peace, justice and unparalleled economic prosperity. We, in Zimbabwe, are not being asked to reinvent the wheel only to adopt it and make it work for our own good. 44 years after independence, we are still failing to our first ever hold free, fair and credible elections.

“The Americans have flown to the Moon and back! And we are still struggling to cross the street!” remarked the late Julius Nyerere, President of Tanzania. He was impressed by the Neil Alden Armstrong, American astronaut’s “One small step for man and one giant leap for mankind!” And he was equally disappointed at how Tanzania and many African countries were lagging behind and, in some cases, regressing.

We, in Zimbabwe, are still failing to hold free, fair and credible elections because we are still failing to define what constitutes free and fair elections! For the last 15 years MDC/CCC leaders have conned their followers into believe the nation does not need free, fair and credible elections because they, the leaders, have devised strategies to win RIGGED elections. Talk of regressing!
