Selling Zimbabwe as a prosperous and democratic country to SADC leaders is proving to be mission impossible for Mnangagwa. W Mukori

“The forthcoming 44th Ordinary SADC Summit of Heads of State and Government penciled for the 17th of August has needlessly generated so much brouhaha , propaganda and has heightened tensions between the regime, its functionaries and citizens," wrote Wonder Bvungura.

"The regime in Harare has been making a song and dance about the summit , kicking up unnecessary dust and pulling out all stops to obviate the unforeseen.

Smith -era roads have been resurfaced, buildings facelifted trees painted and spruced up to hide the rot of 44 years thanks to Zanu PF's misrule.

Buses from the ailing parastatal, Zupco, have been plastered with ED's unprepossessing visage wearing his signature reptilian smile heralding him as the in coming Sadc chairperson.

So much airplay has been devoted to odious jingles adulating ED's manifestly failing leadership and congratulating him for, perish the thought, becoming the next Sadhaki chair.

Forgotten Zanu pf praise singers , Mbare Chimurenga choir , now wrinkled, has been exhumed to reprise their role as cheerleaders and do another round of tasteless renditions to their yesteryear pro-Mugabe songs to praise ED.”

There is only so much propaganda and whitewash can do to cover the rot and decay of 44 years of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption hence the reasons the designated drivers who are to ferry the visitors around have been instructed to use designated routes only!

The regime has taken tyrannical measures to silence all those who were going to protest and remind SADC leaders that Zanu PF rigged the 2023 elections. Something the regime has vehemently denied but to no end because SADC leaders know the election were rigged from SADC Election Observer Mission’s report!

So Zanu PF has the resources to turn Zimbabwe into a North Korea Police State but cannot provide decent health care services to its own people. Zimbabweans are having to travel to Zambia, SA, Botswana, etc. to access even the most basic health care services.

The irony is the regime has deployed the security clamp down for the purposes of silencing the people, we must suffer and die in silence!

  2. Refugee camp in Mozambique before independence.

It is heart breaking that after all the sacrifices and suffering Zanu PF has systematically denied the ordinary people their freedoms and basic rights and so the nation has to fight the regime for these things all over again! Yesteryear’s liberators have become today’s oppressors. How tragic!

“Rural land can't be captured by people like you who will sell every piece of this country for a piece of used papers.
Zanupf has kept 95% of this country's land for its people and this we will fight forever.
This country is blessed with many minerals thus your western friends want to steal it from us. Thank God we have a people conscious &caring party Zanupf.”

So it is OK for the ruling elite to have tittle deeds to vast tracks of land, Bona reportedly had 12 farms with enough land to fit Lesotho, pay nothing for it. Only to parcel the land off and sell it to ordinary people for large sums of money.

Meanwhile the rural peasants are not allowed to now even a postage stamp size piece of land because you fear they will sell it. To whom exactly?

Of course, Zanu PF is keeping the rural people poor for selfish political. This is just modern day slavery and it must end.

  4. Fleet of trucks for the Police.

This is very sad. We real are a Police state because we are spending a fortune in security services and very little on education, health, infrastructure and all the other areas needed for economic growth and prosperity. This is voodoo economic and it is not economically sustainable!

    “Your desperation knows no bounds!”

You got the wrong end of the stick, it is Zanu PF who are turning Zimbabwe into North Korea Police State is a desperate bid to hang on to power at all cost! They are losing, the writing is on the wall even the buffoons who cannot read knows what it means.

"What kind of leaders would an armed struggle throw up? Would those be the men and women we would want to rule independent India?" Mahatma Gandhi and his fellow Indian nationalists asked themselves. Well Zimbabwe has provided humanity with the worst possible answers to these rhetorical questions.

Zimbabwe's war of independence throw up corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs as leaders and 44 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and tyrannical oppression has left the country is economic ruins and political paralysis.

Gandhi's dialogue and passive resistance may have delayed independence by a decade or two but India has remained a healthy and functioning democracy even since.

Zimbabwe's armed struggled may have ended white rule a decade or two sooner but only for the nation to jump from the frying pan of white oppression into the brimstone hell-fire of Zanu PF corruption and brutal oppression. 44 years after independence we are still being denied the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life itself!

  8. Could not agree with the Catholic Bishops more. All the country’s church leaders should be united on this point but they are not. We know many of our church leaders have sold their souls and congregants for 30 pieces of silver!

  9. Fear, panic and anger swells as heavily armed suspected state security agents abduct these 2 members of the opposition in Gokwe last night.

Innocent Zimbabweans are still being abducted and toutured everyday just because ZANU-PF thugs are trying to loot in peace.

The madness continues! SADC leaders must serious consider canceling their plans to attend the SADC Summit in Harare. Like it or not their attendance will be seen by the Zanu PF regime as approval of the regime’s thuggery. Enough is enough!

The people of Zimbabwe a consensus decision to end the Zanu PF dictatorship by risking all to elect opposition leaders who would implement the democratic changes necessary to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. MDC/CCC leaders have had many opportunities to implement the reforms these last 24 years including 5 in the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They have wasted the opportunities and have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

The failure by Zimbabweans to see MDC/CCC for the sell outs they are is at the heart of why Zanu PF is still able to rig elections and thus perpetuate the dictatorship and our own suffering! MDC/CCC not fighting in the masses' corner they do not care about povo, they are only pretending to care.

You should fuming that Zimbabwe is a failed state and millions of our people are living in abject poverty every hour of every day. You not angry that I have repeatedly accused Chamisa and Co. for selling out on reforms but that it is true and you cannot bear to hear the truth said about Chamisa’s incompetence.

I am here to speak the truth and don’t not care whether you want to hear it or not!

Please educate me: What so you or me as individuals do to implement reforms. Better still, tell me what reforms you as anh individual have implemented?

Was Chamisa and company not elected into public office specifically to implement reforms? After 24 years in public office including 5 in the GNU surely it makes sense to ask them why they have failed to implement even one reform?

Indeed, it is the duty of every citizen to hold those in public office to account. I am holding Chamisa and Co. to account and you, instead of doing the same, you are hell bent on silencing me! Why?

“We love our Zimbabwe the way it is, who are you to tell us that Zimbabwe has been turned to North Korea. If you can't stand the heat leave the kitchen.”

So the thousands of Zimbabweans who have been arrested for no other reason than that they dared to demand free, fair and credible elections and the 50% living in abject poverty must leave the country too? Where do you want them to go?

No wonder the country is in a mess, we have some brain dead people amongst us! They think they alone have the right to rule the country and everyone else must suffer and die in silence!

The nation fought a war to secure freedom and dignity for all and now we have to fight for the same freedoms and rights all over again!

Chamisa "It is futile to vote in rigged elections." He has known that for donkeys years and greed got the better of him!

After 24 years, including 5 in the GNU, with not even one reform to show for it; it the people of Zimbabwe who must wake up to the reality Chamisa and Co. will never ever deliver reforms and free and fair elections. Chamisa and Co. are corrupt, incompetent and lying sell out, these are serious and irredeemable shortcomings.

The nation must find competent opposition leaders and stop wasting time on Chamisa and Co., they are beyond the pale!

I totally agree with you, it is a historic fact that it is futile to pretend one can win RIGGED elections, “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw,” as David Coltart aptly put it.

What is disappointing here is that Chamisa is admitting this now as if the penny has finally dropped. This is not true. Chamisa & Co. has known about the futility of participating in flawed elections for donkey years.

MDC-T made a party congress resolution in 2014 never to participate in future elections without implementing the reforms first. “No reforms, no elections!” they chanted. The resolution was dropped the following years for the same reason they had participated in 2013 elections, as Coltart confessed in his book.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

If Chamisa wanted to be honest of a change then he should have admitted not only of the sheer futility of participating in flawed elections but that he had lied about plugging all the vote rigging loop hole to con people to participate out of selfish greed! He is not exactly the repentant prodigal son!

No doubt the usual suspects will be out soon admitting that it was futile to participate in rigged elections and that Chamisa was wise to admit it and was wise to participate. This is where is where the personality cult mentality cut in, they will not see the glaring contradiction. And worse still it will take Chamisa a few minutes to get them to participate in the next flawed elections!

“We should be prepared to applaud good progressive statements from even our worst enemies - that way we will build on the statements and turn lemons into lemonade.”

When Chamisa conned the nation to participate in flawed elections on the back of a blatant lie that he had plugged all vote rigging loop holes was that regressive statement?

Some of us it was a lie with far reaching consequences such as giving Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating the dictatorship and were labelled public enemy number one! How are you going to turn the dictatorship into lemonade particularly when there is a real danger of people being conned into participating in flawed 2028 to perpetuate the nation’s suffering!

“Why not talking about those who took over the party leadership after his resignation..... Your daily statement is boring bro..... This is nonsense at its highest level..... Was Chamisa the only opposition leader ''no'' why are you not talking of other opposition parties in Zimbabwe??”

No Chamisa was not the only opposition leader who participated in the 2023 elections, there were 10 opposition presidential candidate including himself. He got 44% of the votes and the other 9 got 4%. In terms of giving Zanu PF legitimacy by participating in the flawed election, the candidate who got 44% is to blame more that the 9 who got 4%. Why this is so hard for you to grasp beggars belief!

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have more than our fair share of brain dead. Why anyone does not see the sheer futility of participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy, even now with the benefit of hindsight speaks volumes of the voters’ intellectual disability!

“He is a political moron. He said ane anti rigging machine now is complaining about rigging.”

And his brain dead followers believed him, 2 million of them participated in the flawed elections whilst 3 to 4 million in the diaspora cheered and applauded!

Zimbabwe’s political paralysis is not not only because we has corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs/ and utterly useless in Zanu PF and MDC/CCC leaders respectively but also because we have some of most ignorant, naive and gullible voters in human history. Both Zanu PF and MDC/CCC have conned the Zimbabwean voters again and again it is shocking that anyone can be so shallow, thick and slow.

Human beings are supposed to be creatures of reason but clearly not Zimbabweans.

“The way things are now - it’s easier to boycott on the grounds of uneven playfield.

SADC has proven that and are not likely to accept any other imposed opposition and SADC recommendations have not been implemented too - no guaranteed 100% certainty here - we are talking about SADC.

Opposition do not have to push for implementation but it’s up to Zanu to see to it done now.”

The 2008 elections were the watershed Zimbabwe elections in that Zanu PF blatantly cheated and displayed the worst wanton politically motivated violence that country has ever seen during elections. The cheating and violence in 2013, 2018 and last year were nothing compared to 2008. It is absurd to even suggest that what happened last year makes it “easier to boycott elections on grounds of uneven playfield”.

SADC warned MDC leaders not to participate in the 2013 elections without first implementing the forms, they did not listen. David Coltart confirm that MDC leaders knew that Zanu PF was rigging the elections and still they participated out of greed.

Chamisa & Co. will be participating in the 2028 elections with no reforms implemented. If they boycott because the playing field is uneven then they will be lying hypocrites because they have participated all along on the same uneven playing field. They will be no different from Douglas Mwonzora who tried to boycott last year’s elections on an equally frivolous excuse!

If we are going to make any meaning progress we MUST respect historic facts and stop this practice of distorting facts to suit our narrative.

“If Chamisa was useless (as you want us to believe) why invest so much in a useless thing.
    Mnangagwa is against Chamisa
    ZRP is against Chamisa
    ZNA is against Chamisa
    Zec is against Chamisa
    Faz is against Chamisa
    Varakashi is against Chamisa.”

So you believe everything Chamisa tells you and follow him blindly because Mnangagwa, ZNA, ZRP, etc., etc. are all against him? Do not be fooled by appearances.

Mugabe and Zanu PF were not against MDC leaders during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when the later had the golden opportunity to implement democratic reforms that would have ended Zanu PF carte blanche powers to rig elections. Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office, the ministerial E Class Mercedes Benz, very generous salaries and allowances, US$4m mansion for Save himself, etc., etc. And in return, MDC leaders throw all reforms out of the window.

Chamisa & Co. have participated in past elections knowing that Zanu PF was rigging and that participating would give the regime legitimacy but went ahead regardless because they also knew Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate.

Indeed, Chamisa was hell bent in conning his brain dead followers to participate last year he told the the idiotic lie that he had plugged the vote rigging loop holes. The herd believed him and 2 million voted for him with 3 to 4 million in the diaspora cheering and applauding.

What matters here is that the nation has risked livelihoods, limbs and over 500 were murdered by Zanu PF during the 2008 elections alone; to elect MDC/CCC leaders into power on the understanding they would implement the democratic changes necessary to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Mnangagwa rigged last year’s elections precisely because MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one token reform is 24 years, including the 5 in the GNU.

Chamisa & Co. have all but abandoned implementing reforms and have settled for participating in flawed elections for a share of the spoils of power. This is a very amicable and convenient partnership and any animosity between them is for public consumption to placate their respective ignorant and naive constituencies.

Mnangagwa and Chamisa are like cats, there is always a lot of growling and paw swapping; the uninitiated mistake this for fighting only to be proven wrong a few months later when they see the kittens!

Chris Mutsvangwa claims the regime has turned the country into a North Korea Police State to punish Chamisa; Zanu PF is the responsible parent and Chamisa is the naughty child. Nonsense. Zanu PF is the drunken father terrorising the children, wife and neighbours.

Zanu PF rigged 2023 elections and is hell bent on silencing all who dare to say it and remind the regime that it is, per se, illegitimate.
