Mnangagwa calls for unity - step down, weak and divided by your insatiable greed P Guramatunhu

”I invite leaders of all political parties as well as religious and civil leaders to set aside our differences and come together," said President Mnangagwa via his Twitter account.

"What unites us is stronger than what could ever divide us. Let's begin a national dialogue. Let's put the economy first. Let's put the people.”

The country’s economic and political crisis stems from the refusal by Zanu PF to accept that it has failed and allow the ordinary people to have a meaningful say in the governance of the country.

If we are going to be united then we must be united by truth, justice and common sense. We should be one in pledging our commitment to the freedoms and rights of all our citizen as stated in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights notably the right to life and the right to a meaningful say in the governance of one’s country.

Article 21 of the UN Declaration states.

(1)   Everyone has the right to take part in the government of his country, directly or through freely chosen representatives.

(2)   Everyone has the right of equal access to public service in his country.

(3)   The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government; this will shall be expressed in periodic and genuine elections which shall be by universal and equal suffrage and shall be held by secret vote or by equivalent free voting procedures.

Zimbabwe is divided today and brother is harassing, beating and even killing fellow brothers and sisters for no other reason other than that the Zanu PF ruling elite will not accept the fundament reality that every Zimbabwean has a right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country.
Zanu PF has routinely rigged elections for the last 38 years with the political and economic consequences we see all round the country today, the total economic ruins and a nation cowing under a brutal dictatorship. The cup is full to overflow.

Mr Mnangagwa you and your Zanu PF junta have no mandate to govern Zimbabwe because you rigged last July’s elections. You are illegitimate!

It is not for you to call for national dialogue, it is for you to listen to the nation’s demand that you step down. “What unites us is stronger than what could ever divide us!” Your insatiable greed for power and wealth is what has divided this nation for the last 38 years. You have held this nation to ransom and this must now end!

Zanu PF must step down now before the regime drags the nation any deeper into this hell-on-earth Zanu PF landed us into!

What has divided this nation is Zanu PF’s insatiable greed for power and wealth and it cannot be allowed to continue to divide us hence the demand for the regime to step down without further ado.

  1. Mnangagwa is behaving like a typical play ground bully. First he blatantly rigs the elections and denies the people a meaningful say in the governance of the country. He unleashes his ruthless thugs on 1 st August to punish all street protestors beating up many and killing seven and to send a clear message to everyone else that the regime deal ruthlessly with all who dare complain about the rigged elections.

The violence of the last ten days was directed at silencing all those who dare complain about the worsening economic situation. With 3/4 of the population living on US$1.00 or less a day many people are facing serious economic hardships and many are dying of poverty related hunger and disease. The regime descended on them like a tonne of bricks again for the purpose of sending a message that the regime will not tolerate dissent.

Now that the regime has reminded all who is boss, it is reaching out for unity. We are all to be united on two things first and foremost - a) that Zanu PF won last July's elections and b) accept the economic hardship as fait accompli. Anyone who dares open up the two subjects will immediately be accused of not wanting unite and to be a threat to the nation. The regime will respond with the usual brutality.

This is just nonsense. The national dialogue will be a waste of time if it does not address the two national problems. Zanu PF rigged last July's elections and there will be no meaningful progress on any subject as long as the nation continue to be led by an illegitimate regime.

Zanu PF's economic policies will never bring about any meaningful economic recovery because the regime has not even done anything to end such obvious problems as the rampant corruption. Nothing has been done to end the wholesale looting in Marange and Chiadzwa. Nothing has been done to end the criminal waste of resources exemplified by the hiring of the Boeing 787 - 8 Dreamliner by Mnangagwa.

Mnangagwa is illegitimate, it is not for him to be calling for national dialogue; his assigned role is to step down and fcuk off! After 38 years of corrupt and tyrannical rule he and his Zanu PF cronies have over stayed any any good they have ever done. In the name of God, go and let us be done with you!

  2. Obert Gutu, just like Nelson Chamisa and many other MDC leaders, is desperate to see the formation of a new GNU and hopeful get a seat on the gravy train as last time. The next GNU must not include one former Zanu PF or MDC member. They failed to get even one reform implemented in five years and it will be foolish to expect them to do any better now!

  3. UN calls on Zimbabwe authority to exercise retrain in dealing with protesters.

We all know who the elephant in the room in Zimbabwe behind the unending political chaos and economic meltdown is - Zanu PF. The regime has rigged elections and thus placed itself above democratic accountability for the last 38 years with disastrous economic and political consequences. With the nation now facing serious instability and threatening to drag the whole regime into the abyss with it the nation must grasp the nettle and deal with the elephant in the room decisively.

Zanu PF rigged last July's elections, the party has no democratic mandate to govern and must be told in no uncertain term that it must step down. Gone are the decades of the party rigging elections and then being rewarded with absolute power. Mnangagwa and his cronies must go - that is not negotiable!

Indeed, any efforts by the regime to try to hang on to power must be seen for what it is - Zanu PF is holding the nation to ransom. That is totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated!

  4. Zimbabwe is not desperate to be re-admitted into the Commonwealth says presidential spokesperson George Charamba.

It would be a shock for him to say anything else!

  5. The ball is now firmly in President Mnangagwa's court to ensure that his mooted dialogue with opposition leader Nelson Chamisa and other stakeholders kicks off soon, and in earnest - with - out allowing the hardliners in Zanu-PF to once again sabotage the process, analysts say.

Zimbabweans have suffered a great deal in the last 38 years and the last thing the nation wants is to be sold yet another fudge. It must be said here and now that any talks leading to a GNU in which either Zanu PF and MDC have a role is a waste of the nation’s time. The two parties were involved in the 2008 GNU and they failed to get even one democratic reform implemented.

"I invite leaders of all political parties as well as religious and civil leaders to set aside our differences and come together," twittered Mnangagwa.

"What unites us is stronger than what could ever divide us. Let's begin a national dialogue. Let's put the economy first. Let's put the people.”

There are a number of issues here:
Who is this Mnangagwa “inviting” others to a national dialogue! The man rigged the last elections, has no mandate to govern and yet for the last six months has been masquerading as the legitimate government but only because he controls the security services. He is holding the nation to ransom and that cannot be permitted.
“Let’s put the economy first!” Even now he still has the arrogance to believe he can dictate the national agenda. This is nonsense! Top on the national agenda is the curse of rigged elections and pariah state only when this has been adequately and decisively dealt with can the nation deal with all the other issues.
“Seek ye first the political kingdom and all things shall be added unto you,” said Ghana’s first President Dr Kwame Nkrumah. For Zimbabwe the task of ending the curse of rigged elections and dictatorial rule is now the single most important task for the nation. We must deal with this problem and resolve it once and once for all.

  6. When he landed in the country on Tuesday President Emmerson Mnangagwa said, "Likewise, violence or misconduct by our security forces is unacceptable and a betrayal of the new Zimbabwe. Chaos and insubordination will not be tolerated. Misconduct will be investigated. If required, heads will roll.”

This is just nonsense meant for the naive and gullible. Over 20 000 innocent civilians were murdered in cold blood in the Gukurahundi massacres over 30 years ago now; how many heads rolled then? None!

Indeed, those at the very heart of the massacre including former Air Marshall and now Minister of Agriculture, Perence Shiri and Mnangagwa himself were richly rewarded for a job well done!

  7. Presidential spokesperson George Charamba the nation against believing everything that is tweeted through President Emmerson Mnnagawa's verified Twitter account.

Responding to journalists who were probing about the call for dialogue by President Mnangagwa, Charamba said, "Just when we were in there the President was drawing me to an attempt as it were putting words in his mouth using his twitter account. So do not always believe that which is coming through that account.”

So Mnangagwa is now saying he never called for a national dialogue. Even if he had done so only the political green horns would have placed much value to the foolish statement anywhere. Foolish in that Mnangagwa was calling for dialogue on the economy when it is the curse of rigged elections that is the number one issue here. He rigged the last elections and is per se illegitimate. We need a legitimate government to take us forward.

Even if he is to come out now and call for dialogue only fools would trust him to behave honourably because he is a season thug who has never kept his promise on anything!

What Mnangagwa must understand is that he rigged last July’s elections and, per se, has no democratic mandate to govern. He and his junta have held the nation to ransom for six months and counting - no nation can ever tolerate this and the longer this goes on the nation will only harden its resolve never to give in to blackmail!
