"Wisdom is a gift from God!" says Chamisa. "I have plugged vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!" Was that wisdom or a lie! W Mukori

One of my favourite stories from the Bible is the parable of the prodigal son. Here is a story teaching us three things:

  • sin of arrogance and greed

  • the importance of admitting one’s weaknesses, humility and repentance

  • the father’s forgiveness and joy at the repentant sinner

For someone who calls himself a pastor, a man of God, and always quoting from the Bible, I must admit I am disappointed with Nelson Chamisa. I think he is a con man masquerading as a man of God!

“THE SOURCE OF ALL WISDOM.. Wisdom is a gift from God.

‘For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.’ Proverbs 2:6.

Blessed Sabbath #Godisinit!” posted Nelson Chamisa on his X handle.

Lest anyone out there has forgotten, this time last year as the fever of the 2023 election grew Chamisa said repeatedly. “CCC will win big because I have plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!”

We all know Zanu PF blatantly rigged those elections and both SADC and AU election observer teams have confirmed the election process was flawed and illegal. So flawed the process failed to meet Zimbabwe’s own electoral law requirements.

“Conclusion 13.3

The SEOM (SADC Election Observer Mission) noted that, as detailed in sections 6 and 7 of this report, some aspects of the Harmonised Elections fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021),” stated the SEOM report.

Chamisa failed to deploy electoral agents at all the polling stations even thou he had the funds to do so, for Pete’s sake! He pocketed the donated money!

It is not as if Chamisa and his CCC friends did not know that with no reforms implemented Zanu PF would rig the elections ant that the consequence of participating regardless would be to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the people’s suffering under the dictatorship . They have known all this since the 2013 elections!

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

So they have been participating in elections, “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw” out of greed. They knew Zanu PF would give away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate NO MATTER WHAT.

Chamisa insisted God was in the plan to participate in the 2023 elections. Surely God was NOT is a plan whose purpose was gratify the insatiable greed for the trappings of power for Chamisa and a few of his cronies at the expense of the millions now living in abject poverty under this Zanu PF dictatorship.

Chamisa has never ever admitted that he lied about plugging all the vote rigging loop holes, as far as I know. Worst of all, he has not only failed to acknowledge his wrong doing and repented; he is gearing to repeat the same blatant lies to con Zimbabweans to participate in the 2028.

Zimbabwe’s prodigal son is back home instead of asking for forgiveness he is demanding that he must have his brother’s share of the wealth! He is quoting Proverbs 2 verse 6 to back his demands! There is no wisdom in that nor is God in it!

The threat of Chamisa conning millions of Zimbabweans into participating in flawed 2028 elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating the dictatorship is real and it is incumbent on every thinking Zimbabwean to stop him taking advantage of people foolish enough to believe his lies.

Yes, we have some of the most ignorant, naive and gullible people on earth but that is no excuse for people like Chamisa to take advantage of these people, much less do so in the name of God!

Auditor General report on the looting of vehicles in government.

New Auditor-General report shows how car deals are bleeding Govt

By newZWire -July 12, 2024

Looking for one sure way to make money from the Government? Get a tender, get paid, and just don’t bother supplying the goods.

The Office of the Auditor-General (OAG) has just tabled the 2023 audit report to Parliament, and it shows how the Government paid large sums of money for everything from cars, laptops to furniture, never got the deliveries, and did little to recover the money or the goods.

Here, we look at some of the cases inside in the OAG’s new report.

GD6s for Treasury

In December 2022, the Ministry of Finance ordered seven Toyota Hilux GD6 vehicles from Tsapo, a car dealership. According to the OAG: “The seven vehicles had not been delivered at the time of concluding the audit in September 2023.”

How did the Ministry respond? Officials told the auditors: “An email was sent on March 20, 2023 after three physical visits were made to enquire about the delivery. Thereafter, a formal letter of follow up was sent on March 23, 2023 as the supplier indicated that they were experiencing supply challenges on the production line. A final demand letter was then sent on April 13, 2023 and the supplier responded that delivery will be done in two weeks’ time.”

By May this year, the OAG reports, the cars were still to come.

Cruisers for Ministry of Mines

In September last year, the Ministry of Mines ordered a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado VXL and Toyota Land Cruiser 79 for US$193,000 from Burnett Motors. The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado VXL was delivered in April this year, but without the papers needed for change of ownership. The Toyota Land Cruiser 79 was still to come by May this year.

Cars for Home Affairs

In 2022, the OAG reported that the Ministry ordered 35 cars from Faramatsi Motors for ZWL$182,621,960. Government was to pay half of the money before delivery in four weeks. The Ministry paid ZWL$175,000,000 before supply. Faramatsi delivered 11 cars, leaving 24 outstanding in May this year.

The Ministry blames currency depreciation. It says when the order was made, the cost was equivalent to US$1.8 million. The payments that government made in 2022 were worth US$888,874, enough for just 17 cars. The Ministry says Faramatsi Motors has now delivered 15 cars and two are left.

The pricey missing laptops

Home Affairs paid US$422,487 for 26 printers, 67 laptops, 55 desktop computers and 22 printers. By May, 22 of the printers had not come.

In 2022, the Ministry also paid US$474,750 to Vital Computers for 150 i7 laptops, to be supplied in two weeks. By May this year, only 26 laptops had come. The OAG points out that Government ended up paying US$3,165 per laptop, when quotes elsewhere showed prices of between US$807 and US$960.

Moving furniture

In 2023, the Department of Immigration paid US$439,585 to Aganang Furniture for office furniture. By May, no furniture had been delivered. This was despite the contract demanding delivery within two weeks.

Captive contracts

Government paid US$8.1 million for 129 cars for the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS), but didn’t properly book this in the accounts. “Documents relating to the actual amount that was paid were not availed for my inspection. In addition, the actual amount paid was not disclosed in the Appropriation Account.”

Attorney General motors

Government in 2023 bought cars for the Attorney-General’s office; seven from Byword Trading for US$374,430 and 11 from Paza Buster for US$533,500. The cars should have been delivered in 6-8 weeks. However, by the time of the audit this year, the three Toyota Corollas and four Toyota Hilux 2.8 GD6 from Byword hadn’t come. The four Isuzu D-Max vehicles from Paza Buster were also yet to arrive.

Master of the Hilux

The Master of the High Court bought four Toyota Hilux cars from Croco Motors in 2022 for US$252,657. Agreed delivery was 40 days, but just one had come by June 2023.

‘Sport utility’ vehicles

Ministry of Sport bought 17 Nissan Navara cars in December 2022 for ZWL$393 171 724 from AMTEC. Only seven were delivered in 2023, and the rest had still not arrived by May this year. “In addition, out of those seven vehicles delivered, four of them were yet to be registered in the name of the Ministry.”

Mnangagwa seizing farms from Mugabe family to consolidate his own family holdings. Standard.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government has reportedly repossessed extensive land holdings belonging to former first lady Grace Mugabe, her daughter Bona, and other relatives, in a move believed to be a targeted assault orchestrated by the late president's successor.

Sources close to the former first family claim that the land seizures are part of a calculated campaign to undermine and diminish their influence within Zimbabwean political circles.

The whispers of a calculated onslaught against the former first family are growing louder, with The Standard reporting that vast swathes of land belonging to Grace Mugabe, her daughter Bona, and other close relatives have been repossessed by the government.

This land grab, reminiscent of the tumultuous land reform program that defined Mugabe's rule, has seen the former first lady's expansive Mazowe citrus farm, home to an orphanage and the Amai Mugabe School, handed over to Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe.

Kazembe, it is whispered, has grand plans for the property, envisioning a bustling mall in place of the once-thriving farm.

The land grab extends beyond Grace Mugabe's holdings. Bona, her only daughter, has lost much of her farm in Mashonaland Central to the widow of the late Zanla commander Josiah Magama Tongagara, Angeline.

"Tongogara's wife is now working with the son of the white former farmer, Lance Kennedy to utilise the land," a Ministry of Lands official revealed, adding, "She took centre pivots that were bought by Bona."

The Mugabe family, it seems, is not the only target. Grace's niece, Florence Zinyemba, and her husband Flavian, who served as matron of honour at Mugabe and Grace's wedding in 1996, have been evicted from their farmhouse, Protea Farm, to make way for Auxilia Mnangagwa's Angel of Hope Foundation.

Mnangagwa's daughter, Tariro, has also benefited from this land grab, receiving a portion of Kevin Mugabe's Audley End Farm.

"She had been offered that piece of land many years ago," an official in the Lands ministry said, hinting at a long-standing desire to claim the property.

Robert Zhuwao, another nephew of Mugabe, has also been stripped of his land, losing Subdivision 4 of Cockington Farm to Sports Minister Kirsty Coventry after losing a High Court challenge against his removal.

These land seizures, which have become a recurring theme in the Mnangagwa administration, are not merely isolated incidents. They are part of a broader pattern of retribution and consolidation of power, with Mnangagwa's loyalists reaping the rewards of their allegiance.

The Mugabe family, however, sees these actions as a continuation of the hostilities that began with the 2017 coup that ousted Mugabe from power. Grace Mugabe, who openly opposed Mnangagwa's presidential ambitions, was a vocal critic of his leadership, leading a public campaign that was ultimately thwarted by the military intervention.

"The targeted seizures of land belonging to the late long-time ruler's relatives showed there were still hostilities between Mnangagwa and the former first lady," a Mugabe family member said, echoing the sentiment of many within the family.

The government, however, maintains a stony silence on the matter.

Nick Mangwana, the government spokesperson, refused to comment on the displacement of Mugabe's family and relatives from their properties.

"I cannot comment on that. I am not aware," Mangwana told The Standard. "I would refer you to the Minister of State for Mashonaland Central. But if you were going to ask me on a policy issue, I would say if it was a land invasion, they should call the police."

Lands Minister Anxious Masuka, when contacted for comment, was unavailable.

The land grab, reminiscent of the controversial land reform program implemented by Mugabe, raises concerns about the future of Zimbabwe's agricultural sector.

In 2019, Mnangagwa declared that an audit had revealed Grace Mugabe owned 16 farms, and he has repeatedly warned that those holding large tracts of land will be dispossessed in line with the government's "one family one farm" policy.

The government's actions, however, are not without consequence. The land reform program, which displaced over 4 000 white Zimbabweans from their farms, has left the country saddled with a US$3.5 billion debt to the former farmers for developments on their farms.

Even the ruling elite who thought they now owned the land are suddenly realising that, actually they do not. If the direction of the wind should change, those benefiting from the on going farm seizure will find themselves the ones being booted off the farms too.

What is most outrageous is how that whilst the ruling elite have 16 farms with the combined acreage the size of Lesotho, they stubbornly deny the ordinary people title deed to even one acre on which their mud hut stand! All for selfish political reasons - they want the people to remain beholden to the party for the sake of political control.

People! People! Don't be alarmed by Sanyatwe's uncouth utterances, those are the last kicks of the dying dictatorship. W Mukori

People should not be alarmed by Commander Sanyatwe's uncouth utterances, these are the last kicks of a dying horse!

“A video has surfaced online showing Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) Commander Anselem Sanyatwe declaring his allegiance to the ruling Zanu-PF party. Sanyatwe becomes the third high-ranking military official to publicly support Zanu-PF, following Vitalis Zvinavashe in 2002 and Constantino Chiwenga before leading the 2017 coup that brought President Emmerson Mnangagwa to power,” reported Bulawayo 24.

“In the video, Sanyatwe addresses what appears to be a Zanu-PF gathering, warning attendees against voting against the ruling party. He asserts his authority as head of the army, stating that "Zanu-PF will rule forever, whether you like it or not," and threatens to use force against opponents of the party.

“The origins of the video have not been confirmed, and it is unclear whether it was recorded before the 2023 general elections or more recently, possibly in reference to future elections in 2028. Sanyatwe mentions "command voting" and gestures as if indicating a physical action, suggesting a directive regarding voting behaviour.”

Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF cronies have corrupted Zimbabwe’s state institutions such as ZEC, judiciary, civil service and the security services, turning them into Zanu PF departments in all but name. And once corrupted, their number one task was to bolster the party’s iron grip on power.

Mugabe started the political patronage soon after independence, bribing the key officials with executive cars, generous salaries and allowance. He awarded the top brass in the security service for their part in wrestling power from MDC in 2008 with the diamond mining concessions, so generously worded the beneficiaries do not have to declare their earnings nor pay tax.

Mnangagwa has continued the political patronage system by extending the “licence to loot” mining concessions to other areas such as gold and lithium. He squandered a staggering US$ 5 billion in bribes in the 2023 elections alone from buying chicken and chips for povo attending the party’s rallies, twin-cab trucks for chiefs and US$400k and US$500k housing loan to all the country’s judges and ministers, respectively.

The recipients of all these political patronage bribes; of course, knew these were bribes; and knew were expected to return the favour by bending the rules, breaking them if necessary, anything to keep Zanu PF in power at all cost. The army, police, CIO and Prison Services were expected not only turned a blind eye to Zanu PF lawlessness but to instigated the lawlessness in the form of carrying out the beatings and murder of Zanu PF critics and opponents.

Commander Sanyatwe and his colleagues in the Army, Police, etc. have all played their part in creating sustaining this Zanu PF monster, many of them have shed innocent blood, and many are living in great comfort thanks to their share of the loot. Of course, they are worried sick about all this talk of meaningful democratic change in Zimbabwe. What will happen to them is Zanu PF was to lose power! What, indeed?

Well even the most naive and selfish Zanu PF demagogues must have realised by now that the present political system has produced a few wasteful and filthy rich ruling elite at the expense of the overwhelming majority condemned to abject poverty. This is socially, morally and politically unsustainable. The outcry for meaningful change was as certain as the sun rise; in Zimbabwe, change is long overdue!

Change should have happened in 2013 at the latest, if MDC leaders had implemented the democratic reforms when they had the golden opportunity to do so during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Mugabe bribed Tsvangirai and company with the trappings of high office, just as he had bribes everyone else, and the rest is history. Ever since the GNU debacle MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed.

Chamisa has conned his braindead followers to participate in the flawed elections; “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw,” as David Coltart readily admitted. He promised them “CCC will win big because I have plunged all the vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!” The tragedy is the mob has believed him time after time!

Now that the Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut is going into overdrive, the Chamisa Chete Chete cult members will see through Chamisa’s lies plugging all the Zanu PF “Command voting” measures. The mob will finally see the sheer futility of participating in these flawed elections to keep the regime in power.

The solution to ending Zanu PF tyrannical rule is to stop participating in the flawed elections, “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw,” as David Coltart readily admitted. Zanu PF’s “command voting” can coerce the people to vote for Zanu PF but not for the discredited opposition too!

In failing to implement even one token reform in 24 years, including 5 in the GNU, and in participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy, all out of selfish greed and breathtaking incompetence, Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends have lost all political credibility.

Commander Sanyatwe’s utterances are the last kicks of Zanu PF dictatorship. The strategy is to stay out of the way of the lashing and thrashing legs and what could be better than refusing to participate in flawed elections!

It is not so much Zanu PF thugs' cunning and ruthlessness that's keeping the regime in power but rather the ignorance and naivety of povo. W Mukori

Zimbabwe is a failed and all because we have been stuck with a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF regime for the last 44 years. The party has rigged elections and denied us, the people, a meaningful say in the governance of the country.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged the last year’s elections all because MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token democratic reform these last 24 years including the 2008 to 2013 GNU years when they had the golden opportunity to do so.

It is not as if we, Zimbabweans, did not know that Zanu PF was going to rig the 2023 elections; we knew that and more. We knew that by participating in the flawed elections we would only give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy or “give the process credibility”, as David Coltart put.

So if we knew the election process was “so flawed, so illegal, that thinly logical step was to withdraw” and that participating would give Zanu PF legitimacy; why then did nearly two million vote for Chamisa and at least as many, notably in the diaspora, cheered and applauded the participation?

Answer: Zimbabweans participated in their millions in the 2023 elections because thy BELIEVED Chamisa when he said he had “plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!”

Of course, he was lying as the SADC, AU and all the other Zimbabwe 2023 election observers confirmed in their reports.

“The SEOM (SADC Election Observer Mission) noted that, as detailed in sections 6 and 7 of this report, some aspects of the Harmonised Elections fell short of the requirements of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, the Electoral Act, and the SADC Principles and Guidelines Governing Democratic Elections (2021),” stated the SEOM report.

Although SADC has accepted the damning SEOM report, the regional body has not denied Zanu PF political legitimacy as it did in 2008. No explanation has been offered as to why Zanu PF was let off the hook. There can be no doubt in my mind that the very fact that Zimbabweans had participated in the flawed elections in our millions must have weighted heavily in the regional body’s minds.

If the majority of Zimbabweans participated in the flawed elections, knowing fully well the process was flawed, it is not for SADC or anyone else to declare out come null and void. SEOM noted the election process was flawed and said so; denying the out come political legitimacy could only be done if a very significant number of Zimbabweans themselves had denounce the process.

Nelson Chamisa and company did complain of Zanu PF rigging the elections but only in these areas the opposition had lost. SADC judged the elections on the basis of the process and cherry picking the results. Besides, CCC had not only participated but conned the public to do the same claiming they had “plugged the vote rigging loop holes”.

After 43 years of rigged elections and the country is a serious, serious, economic and political mess the pressure is palpable to end this double curse of rigged elections and bad governance.

We need to implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Sadly, I do not see anything happening here. Zanu PF thugs will never win free, fair and credible elections no matter how incompetent and divided the opposition happened. And so thugs will never reform themselves out of office. The present CCC MPs and Senators will never force any meaningful reforms. The MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU it is naive to expect them to do so now.

So, if plan A is to get reforms implemented before 2028 elections; it is dead in the water.

We cannot stop Zanu PF holding elections with no reforms implemented and we cannot stop Chamisa and company participating in the flawed elections. What we, the people, can do is refuse to participate.

If Zimbabweans demanded the implementation of democratic reforms and make it abundantly clear they will never again be conned by Chamisa or anyone else into participating in flawed elections.

If Zimbabweans had stubbornly refused to participate in last year’s elections, I am convinced SADC would have denied Zanu PF political legitimacy. The question then is: can ordinary Zimbabweans be persuaded to stop participating in the flawed elections?

The honest answer to that has to be, it would be a a Herculean task, if it can be done at all.

If it was reasons the people wanted to stop them participating that would be easy.

Zanu PF thugs have rigged elections for the sake of retaining political power to feed their insatiable hunger for power, influence and looted wealth.

MDC  leaders failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU because Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high offices and in return they forgot about implementing the reforms. And ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections in search of the few gravy train seats Zanu PF dangled to entice the opposition to participate, as Coltart admitted in the quotation above.

To get the share of the spoils of power the opposition must show they have political support from the people and bring them out to vote. The opposition’s countless claims to having winning in rigged elections strategies were to fool the people into believing the opposition can still win the elections no what how flawed and illegal to process got! The tragedy here is the people have been ignorant, naive and gullible enough to believe these opposition lies time and time again.

The people have been conned into participating in flawed elections believing they would get the regime change they were after only for Zanu PF to once again win and that they had giving the regime legitimacy and thus perpetuating their own suffering by participating.

Of course, it is insane to participate in a flawed elections only to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating one’s own suffering. This argument has been made countless time and, so far at least, it has failed to stop the mob participating in the flawed elections in their millions. There is little evidence to make one believe people will listen to reason: the penny has dropped.

“Did Nelson Chamisa lie when he said he had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes?” I asked.

The response varied from stone-silence to hostile outrage directed at me for daring to ask.

Of course, Chamisa lied, this is an established historic fact beyond debate but clearly not to many out there. They should be angry with Chamisa for conning them and landing them into this hell-on-earth. Not with me, what have I done other than ask an innocent question! The penny has not dropped.

I will not be surprised if Chamisa or anyone else conned Zimbabweans in their millions to participate in the 2028 elections without even a toke reform implemented only to once again give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the nation’s suffering.

Stopping Zanu PF rigging rigging elections is proving to be mission impossible, after 44 years and counting of rigged elections, not so much because Zanu PF thugs are cunning and ruthless, that they are; but because the Zimbabwe voters are ignorant, naive and gullible and they have the vote. In their ignorance and naivety, Zimbabweans are the ones helping to keep Zanu PF in power and perpetuating their own suffering.

The tragedy is there is no off the shelf cure for ignorance and naivety; “take this twice daily for a month,” sort of thing. The cure is educating the masses, tough enough without the interference of both Zanu PF and CCC who each have an invested selfish interest in keeping the voters ignorant and naive.

So the possibility of Zimbabweans participating in flawed 2028 election in their millions is on the card!
