Joshua Maponga said something that made people angry.

He said Zimbabwe might as well declare a monarchy. Bring together all the tribes, all the languages, all the totems, all the houses — and sit down and choose a king. Because that is what we are doing anyway. We are just refusing to call it what it is.

People called him crazy.

He is not crazy. He is the only one telling the truth.

Look at the evidence.

Robert Mugabe ruled Zimbabwe for thirty-seven years. Thirty-seven years. Alexander the Great built and ruled the largest empire in the ancient world in thirteen years and died at thirty-two. Julius Caesar transformed Rome in five years before they killed him because he had too much power. Xerxes — the greatest king of Persia — ruled for twenty-one years. Robert Mugabe outlasted all of them. And for thirty-seven years the people of Zimbabwe — including the opposition — allowed it. Participated in it. Some of them celebrated it.

That is not democracy. That is a monarchy without a crown.

Now look at the opposition.”

Joshua Maponga talks too much and most of what he says is bulls***t!

“Zimbabwe might as well declare a monarchy because that is what we are doing anyway,” he reportedly argued. 

What the idiot should have said is “Mnangagwa might as well declare himself an illegitimate dictator because everyone KNOWS the people of Zimbabwe have never ever elected him in a free, fair and credible election. NEVER EVER!”

The emphasis here is on Mnangagwa and not “we” and on dictatorship as contrast to monarch. The people of Zimbabwe have never ever had meaningful say in the governance of the country. 

The nearest Zimbabwe has ever got to holding free, fair and credible elections was in 2008. SADC pushed Zanu PF to implement a raft of electoral reforms including the requirement to have votes to be counted at each Polling Station and the result posted for all to see. As the result started coming out, it was clear Zanu PF was heading for whitewash defeat. 

Whilst many Zanu PF leaders including Mugabe accepted the opposition’s victory, Mnangagwa and Chiwenga did not. The two launched Operation Mavhotera Papi to wrestle power from MDC and to punish the people for having dared to reject Zanu PF. 

The military style wanton violence of Operation Mavhotera Papi, millions were harassed and beaten, property worth millions of dollars was destroyed, hundreds of thousands had their limbs cut off and/or raped and over 500 were murdered in the three months run-off period. 

Mnangagwa used the Zanu PF militia and war veterans as the foot soldiers and personal from Army, Police and CIO - state institutions entrusted the sacred duty to protest the people - to do the heavy duty tasks of abducting and murdering and providing the backup to the foot soldiers. 

Mnangagwa and Chiwenga should have been send to Chikurumbi Prison for their role in Operation Mavhotera Papi. Only an idiot like Maponga would want to reward Mnangagwa for his treasonous political machinations and make him King! 

CAB3 is a very significant milestone in the torturous road we have travelled these last 46 years, the bill is the first step in turning Zimbabwe from a de facto one-party (one-man) dictatorship into a de jure one-man dictatorship!
