In Zimbabwe the ordinary people have been denied a meaningful say in the governance of the country for 46 years and counting. Zanu PF has blatantly rigged elections denying the people a meaning vote.
It must be said that the nation did have many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship with the best chance coming during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. MDC/CCC leaders have sold out on implementing reforms. Ever since the GNU they have conned the people to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship and the nation’s suffering.
There are nations like Switzerland, Japan, Singapore, etc. with few natural resources and yet the are peaceful and prosperous. How much more prosperous would they be if they had a great abundance of natural resources. Having a great abundance of resources have become a curse and not a blessing in some countries as the wealth from the resources has fuelled the endless wars over ownership.
“Who bewitched Africa?” asked Professor Lumumba.
If you were in Zimbabwe the buffoons who are ruling the country with an iron fist will consider you a rumble rouser and you would be punished. “Tinokuveza!” they will boast!
Still it is good that you ask the question. Countries like Zimbabwe are FAILED states and it is right that the people should ask WHY ARE WE A FAILED STATE?
The people continue to ask these question until they get satisfactory answers.
If ignorance is a result of being bewitched then we were bewitch.
Ignorance is the result of the failure to ask why. Knowledge is opposite of ignorance and knowledge start from asking questions. And those who ask the pertinent questions will never repeat the same mistakes over and over again. They learn from their own mistakes and history - that is the essence of knowledge.
We in Africa are stuck in a rut, we are renowned for our criminal waste of human and material resources. Whilst we have suffering the tragic consequences of the criminal waste of resources we have been helpless to stop it because the buffoons ruling the roost will not allow us to end the madness. And we, for our part, have allowed the buffoons to silence us!
Zimbabwe is a failed state and we dare not ask why for fear. "Mhesvamikono ndinodziveza!"threatened Mnangagwa. We have allowed him to silence us. We, the people have too done a great job of silencing ourselves. It is the people who have stifled the voices asking why MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one reform in 26 years.
By failing to ask the pertinent question, silence by buffoon or stifled by one of our own, we have denying ourselves the opportunity to learn from the past. Those who will not learn from the past are doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again.
"Who bewitch Africa?"
We are suffering from mental slavery and, unlike physical slavery where someone else has the key to the chains, we have the key. We only need to ask pertinent questions and to think for ourselves again and we can end the madness of the criminal waste of human and material resources, the root cause we are a failed state.

SA's agricultural sector is suffering the ill effects of forcing black Africans out of that country following 30 June 2026 deadline for black foreigners to leave.
ReplyDeleteIn 2000 Zimbabwe agricultural production collapsed and with it the economy when Zanu PF seized the white owned farms and gave them to the ruling elite and their cronies. The collapsed economy forced millions of Zimbabweans to leave the country going to SA and beyond. And now they have been forced out of SA and it is SA’s turn to see its agriculture and economy suffer.
Still, SA can sort out its labour problems and hopeful revive the economy. It has been decades now and Zimbabwe’s economy is still in a mess. The millions of returnees from SA will join the 49% living in abject poverty. No doubt they will return to SA if the opportunity was to arise!
You missed out two defining moments in his career. 1) Mnangagwa and Chiwenga spearheaded the 2008 Operation Mavhotera Papi 2) the two played a major role in the 2017 military coup.
ReplyDeleteChiwenga has always believed that Zanu PF has the divine right to rule and has rigging elections and even killed to promote that belief. Chiwenga, like Mnangagwa and many other Zanu PF thugs, paid lip service to freedom, justice and human dignity for all Zimbabweans. All he cared about is absolute power - period!
