"Stopped Zanu PF getting 2/3 majority!" was CCC's excuse for participating in flawed 2023. What's excuse now it has 2/3? W Mukori

Zanu PF now has the two thirds majority it craved in parliament after the party won all six by-elections held Saturday, triggered by the recalls on CCC MPs by Sengezo Tshabangu. Zanu PF needed to win just 3. It now has 190 seats in 280-member National Assembly,” is the news the nation had dreaded to hear but knew was coming.

Chamisa and company participated in the 2023 elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF was rigging the process and that participating would give the regime legitimacy. They participated regardless because they also knew that regime would give away a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate and thus maintain the facade Zimbabwe is a healthy multi-party democracy. Chamisa and company went to town to deny they were participating out of greed.

Chamisa claimed CCC would win big because he had “plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes!”

Zanu PF won the majority of the seats in parliament and the presidency. All the election observers including SADC, AU and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC condemned the 23 August 2023 elections as flawed and illegal. This did not stop CCC members claiming their seats and thus defying SADC and AU to give the process legitimacy.

“CCC has stopped Zanu PF getting 2/3 majority!” was the party’s excuse for participating in the flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

Now Zanu PF has achieved the 2/3 majority thanks to the dog-eat-dog factional fighting in CCC. What will be the party’s excuse for participating in these flawed and illegal elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy?

The dog-eat-dog CCC factional war has now gone into overdrive following Nelson Chamisa’s resignation as party president on 24 January; there will be CCC MPs, senators and councillors will resign/recalled. Zanu PF will end up with a super majority in parliament and senate. God only knows what mischief the regime will do with the super majority! What feeble excuses will the opposition offer for getting the nation into this mess!

One thing is now certain, there will be no meaningful democratic reforms implemented in the coming four years and so the 2028 elections will be a repeat of the 2023 elections. Zanu PF will blatantly rig the elections and the CCC faction(s) will participate to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. What a nightmare!

  1. Nelson Chamisa insisted on participating in the flawed 2023 elections claiming CCC would win big because he "had plugged all Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes." He was lying!

The elections was so flawed and illegal SADC. AU and even Zimbabwe's own election observers ZHRC condemned the process as a farce. CCC's spin doctors said CCC participated "to stop Zanu PF getting 2/3 majority". Now we know the regime has managed to get the 2/3 majority and may go on to get a super majority. What will the spin doctors say now?????

“Tshabangu, Biti and Ncube's CCC gives Zanu-PF two-thirds parliamentary majority.”

How naive! Was it not Chamisa who insisted in participating in these flawed elections claiming CCC will win big because he "had plugged Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes"? Now it turns out that he was not only lying about stopping Zanu PF rigging but had failed to flush out Zanu PF agents within his own party. CCC is imploding and you blame everyone else except Chamisa - Chamisa is infallible and per se incapable of doing anything wrong.

Chamisa is not only a fallible mortal but one who has already proven to be corrupt and incompetent. You can continue to bury your head in the sand that will not change the reality.

Even after MDC/CCC leaders failing to implement even one reform in 23 years, 5 in the GNU; the penny has to dropped that they are not up to the task of implementing reforms. With such naive and gullible voters it is no wonder the country is a failed state!

“Iye Chamisa anoti iye chete ndiye anodiwa naMwari munyika ino.”

Chamisa is taking advantage of the fact Zimbabweans are some of the most naive, ignorant and gullible people on earth. They believe anything even some of the most oxymoronic nonsense!

God does not do what man can do for himself. To ask God to help CCC win rigged elections is an extreme oxymoronic case of putting God to the test! The very fact that many Zimbabwe have believed Chamisa’s “God is in it!” claims again and again goes to show just how shallow, thick and slow Zimbabweans are!

Instead of believing in these CCC winning in rigged elections strategies, any one with half a brain would be demanding to know why these nincompoops have failed to implement even one token reform these last 23 years, including 5 in the GNU!

Chamisa did mislead the nation into participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy, that is a fact you do not want said. It5 must be said if we are ever going to stop this insanity! Chamisa is corrupt and incompetent and to pretend he is otherwise is what got us into this mess! This must be stopped here and now!

Ask yourself what kind of person would believe a blatant lie like “I have plugged all the Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes” when they know Chamisa has failed to ensure there is something as basic as a verified voters’ roll? Would you expect such a nincompoop to do anything else but elect a village idiot!

  6. CCC spin doctors justified the party's participation in the flawed and illegal 23 August 2023 elections on the grounds the party "stopped Zanu PF having 2/3 majority". Thanks to the dog-eat-dog factional war within the CCC party born out by the confusion of having no constitution, structure and elected officials, the party has since delivered the 2/3 majority to Zanu PF in a silver platter.

What the devil are we going to do now to stop Zanu PF rigging the 2028 elections?

  7. Gift Ostallos Siziva and Amos Chibaya had a torrid time this afternoon in Manicaland when they were told off by a charged crowd; in their ill-fated push for Nelson Chamisa's latest solo campaign to form yet another structureless movement; after he ditched and ran away from his CCC in January.

In the ill-tempered meeting, Ostallos and Chibaya were told in no uncertain terms that its them who caused divisions in the province; and that the contamination [infiltration of CCC] that Chamisa complained about when he abruptly quit his CCC without notice last month, is in fact at the top, and not among the grassroots; and that the touted, yet another 'new', movement Chamisa wants to hurriedly form with no structures and no positions will have the same contaminated top that has left CCC with Chamisa!

One of the consequences of the failure to value facts, truth and reality is that individual(s) is destined to repeat the same mistakes and always blunder from pillar to post. Nelson Chamisa and his wildebeest herd followers have refused to accept that having a party with no constitution, structure and elected officials will create more problems for the party than it solved.

Indeed, the lack off constitution, structure and elected officials did not solve the A1 problem - stop infiltration - it was supposed to prevent. The recall of elected officials that has caused so much chaos and confusion in the party was caused by one Sengezo Tshabangu whom Chamisa and many in the party say is an imposter. The party failed to prove in a Court of Law that Tshabangu was indeed an imposter without a constitution, etc.

Chamisa insisted CCC was a democratic party and yet refused to build the basic democratic pillars on which the party was to stand. The party was NOT a democratic party and we should not be surprised it has all but collapsed.

It would be very foolish indeed for Zimbabweans to join Chamisa or anyone's political party without with no strong democratic foundations. It will show they have learned nothing from the collapse of CCC.

Sometime we arrive at the destination by the route we take to avoid it!

  8. Mzembi writes:

"So many theories are being thrown around as to what may have led to Cde Chris Mutsvangwa's abrupt dismissal by President Mnangagwa. I proffer my own based on what led to his dismissal by Mugabe in 2016.

"It's simply that Chris is ungovernable and does not submit to the authority of anyone let alone the collectivity of cabinet and the President. He is an all knowing man of many words who does not know when to mute himself.

"On several occasions inside Cabinet in 2016 , he would take on Mugabe to an embarrassing point where Mnangagwa himself then Vice-President would be the only one able to silence him with the strongest rebuke and I quote his bellow: 'Chris, Chris I said shut up, shut up Chris, i am your commander Chris I order you to shut up!'

"At this point Chris would pack his cabinet file and leave in a huff! Mugabe believed in the superiority of ideas and would allow exhaustive debate on any item,  but our brother Chris knowing it all, would roughshod over everyone at which point Mugabe would come in to exercise his authority as chairman to restore order & decorum  and the Minister of War Veterans would refuse to recognise that authority.  Disagreements were mainly around the agency he seemed to carry over Chinese Investments which would  often blind his judgement.

I can find it in me to believe everything else Mzembi has said here expect “Mugabe believed in the superiority of ideas and would allow exhaustive debate on any item!” That is surely a lie!

Mugabe has stifle public debate and democratic discourse and party and national levels because he was a little man whose inferiorities complex made him a control freak who feared any form of competition in case some one else should prove that they are better than him.

Indeed, it was a well known fact that Mugabe never allowed any of his cabinet members to have any meaningful control over any thing, he had to play a part in everything or nothing will happen. It is no exaggeration that to keep one’s job one had to “dial down”. Mugabe went out of his way to promote those loyal to him regardless who incompetent they happened to be - indeed being incompetent was an added advantage as far as Mugabe was concerned.

If Mugabe really believed in the superiority of ideas would he have promoted the likes of Simon Muzenda, Joice Mujuru and Emmerson Mnangagwa. He promoted the deadwood and then used them as the excuse for hanging on to power. “There is no one competent to take over if I step down!” he claimed!

  10. “Army should be part of the national dialogue!”

This is an analysis based on selecting historic facts and putting these facts in the wrong order to suit one's narrative.

It was not the Army that imposed itself on Zanu PF but rather it was Mugabe who coopted the Army to join the party. It was Mugabe who formed the Junta, the Joint Operation Command composed of the top brass in the Army, Police, CIO and Prison Services plus a few others headed by Mugabe himself and Mnangagwa was his deputy. The junta came to its on in wrestling political power from Tsvangirai in the 2008 elections. It was the Junta that carried out the heavy lifting in Operation Mavhotera Papi.

Mugabe rewarded the top brass in the Junta by granting them the licence to loop diamond mining concessions over and above the generous salaries and allowance they had always received ever since the country’s independence. Zimbabwe has always had a bloated security services and Mugabe has spared no expense to pamper the top brass.

Even then, it must be said that the Junta played no part in stopping Zanu PF and/or MDC implemented the democratic reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The military coup of 2017 was a consequence of the failure to implement the reforms and break the corrupting influence of Zanu PF in the Army.

Some people have even argued that the Army, even the coup plotters, stopped the GNU implementing the democratic reforms - there is no evidence to support this.

Zimbabwe’s soldiers have been praised for their professionalism in the 1980s and 1990s before the rot of the Junta set in. Given a chance the professionalism can be restored! Other than the top brass in Junta the rest of the rank and file are not benefiting from the looting of resource and will welcome the return of law and order and political and economic stability.

  11. Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends have been participating in these flawed elections claiming they had winning in rigged elections strategies. "MDC A has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the 2018 elections,"said Chamisa. He did not say what those stringent measures were nor did he bother to apologise for misleading the voters when Zanu PF went on to blatantly rig the elections.

Last year, 2023, he made similar outrageous claims of CCC winning big because he had "plugged all Zanu PF vote rigging loop holes!" Zimbabwe did not even have something as basic as verified voters' roll and CCC failed to deploy election agents at all the polling stations even thou the party had received the funds for it!

Nelson Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends have a proven track record as corrupt and incompetent going back to the 2008 to 2013 GNU. How anyone can still say Chamisa is the best foot forward for the nation beggars belief. With citizens this ignorant, and naive it is little wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state and, at this rate, has no hope of ever digging ourselves out of this hell-on-earth we have dragged ourselves into!

Any one who knows about the reforms should also know that Zanu PF has been rigging elections all these 43 years since the country's independence precisely because no meaningful reforms to stop the rigging were implemented.

MDC leaders had the golden opportunity to implement the reforms during the GNU and they wasted it. Robert Mugabe bribed Tsvangirai and company with the trappings of power and the rest is history!

For anyone with "O" level education to say Chamisa and his CCC friends are the best foot forward for Zimbabwe shows the have no clue what the reforms are and that MDC sold out big time in failing to implement the reforms. Do you know about reforms and that MDC sold out by failing to implement even one reform in 23 years including 5 in the GNU? 13. As much as SADC leaders were put under pressure to deny Zanu PF legitimacy by the damning SADC and AU election observer mission reports the will to act was undermined by two events:

    1) winning CCC leaders who took up their gravy train seats even after SADC and AU election observers had made it clear the election process was flawed and illegal. By accepting their seats CCC were endorsing the elections are free, fair and credible.

Leaders like Tendai Biti argued CCC had to accept the seats the party had won to consolidate the “liberated zones” is a nonsense. The elections process was one and could not be split so areas in which CCC members won the process would be judged free and fair and where CCC members lost judged flawed and illegal.

There was no verified voters’ roll for example and that affected everybody. Zanu PF was clever to let CCC win a few gravy train seats to entice the opposition to participate no matter how flawed the process got!

    2) The recalls of CCC elected officials showed there was chaos and confusion in the party. It would have been very naive, to say the least, for SADC leaders to deny Zanu PF legitimacy when there was clearly no competent opposition to take the nation forward.

If there was any doubt that CCC had imploded, Chamisa’s resignation two weeks ago has confirmed the implosion! Chamisa and company are going to be fighting amongst themselves for the next year, at least, they will be doing nothing else. That God SADC had not denied Zanu PF legitimacy, Zanu PF would be gloating in the ensuing chaos and blaming SADC for it!

Only first class village idiot would elect someone into power knowing that individual is corrupt, incompetent and that their participation in the flawed elections will give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate their own suffering “because there is no alternative”!

  15. ZCC condemned the practice of recalling elected officials, stating that it undermines the will of the electorate and disrupts the democratic process. Such actions, driven by narrow political interests, disregard the wishes of Zimbabwean voters and impose significant costs on the nation.

The ongoing recalls of elected officials have been criticized for keeping the country in a perpetual state of electioneering, even months after the general election. Opposition leader Nelson Chamisa denounced the recalls as a project orchestrated by Zanu-PF, further exacerbating the erosion of constitutional democracy.

ZCC emphasized that the recalls contribute to voter apathy by disenfranchising a significant portion of the electorate, resulting in elected representatives who lack broad-based legitimacy. This, in turn, undermines the integrity of electoral processes and diminishes their capacity to reflect the collective will of the people.

The church called on political actors to consider the repercussions of their actions on the electorate and urged a reconsideration of electoral practices. Restoring the integrity of elections is vital for nurturing a democratic society where the voice of the people remains central to good governance and national transformation.

The busy ZCC bodies have woken up to the ill effect of Sengezo Tshabangu’s recall but were indifferent to CCC’s participation in flawed and illegal elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. Even after SADC and AU election observers had condemned the 23 and 24 August 2023 elections as a farce, CCC leaders still went ahead and took up their gravy train seats and thus sweeping the carpet from under SADC leaders’ feet - they could not deny Zanu PF legitimacy if Zimbabweans themselves say the process was free and fair.

“CCC must hang on to the liberated zones!” CCC leaders like Tendai Biti argued in defence of the CCC taking up their gravy train seats. Of course, it is nonsense!

SADC election observers had condemned the elections because ZEC had failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll which affected all constituencies in the country. CCC wanted these glaring flaws and illegalities to be ignore in the “liberated zones” for no better reason than that they had won ! Elections are judged on the basis of the process and not the result. Zanu PF has been careful to make sure the opposition win some gravy train seat no matter how flawed and illegal the process get!

ZCC busy bodies have never condemned the blatant vote rigging by Zanu PF nor the participation of the opposition in flawed elections out of greed! There are no democratic elections in Zimbabwe and per se the recalls are the least of our concerns since they cannot be undermining something that is not there!

  16. But Coltart, who once said he does not wish to drive in a plush mayoral car at the expense of suffering residents, revealed he was only being paid a paltry US$25 for all his troubles.

"Just in case anyone questions my assertion that I get paid US$25 per month for the privilege of being Mayor, here is my allowance slip for January. I omitted to mention that I am actually paid this in Z$ at the official rate – so last month my total allowance/remuneration was Z$ 138,575.40.

"For those from outside of #Zimbabwe in case you are impressed the official interbank today is US$1:Z$10082. So, the Z$138,575 now equates to US $13.74!

"To be clear I am not complaining because I knew what I was getting into before being elected. But just don't let it be said that I am in it for the money!" he said.

Zimbabwe is a failed state because MDC leaders failed to implement even one toke reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections those last 23 years. You lot have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. You admitted it yourself because it was obvious to deny!

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

  20. THE Citizens' Coalition for Change (CCC) has disintegrated into three distinct yet fluid factions following last week's resignation of Nelson Chamisa which took some legislators and party officials by surprise.

The freeing of the fiery Job Sikhala from prison after spending almost two years behind bars has added other dynamics to the saga.

Chamisa quit CCC in a huff last Thursday after its descent into political turmoil due to recalls of MPs and other elected representatives by self-imposed leaders. He said the party had been infiltrated by Zanu-PF and its subversives.

The resignation has resulted in a scramble for the heart and soul of the party, with three factions emerging: one loyal to Chamisa, the other which has coalesced around former MDC-Alliance vice-presidents Welshman Ncube and Tendai Biti as well as the self-imposed CCC interim steering committee, also known as the recalls committee, led by Sengezo Tshabangu.

CCC leaders have turn-on the self-destruct switch and the key, once turned- on, breaks to make-sure there is no turning it off again. The opposition is going to be preoccupied in their dog-eat-dog fight they will do little else.

There was very liitle chance the opposition was going to push for the democratic reforms before 2028 electio, it will be fair to say, that little chance has just evaporated like the morning mist is the rising African sun!

In his book Animal Farm George Orwell showed why the revolution is some country are doomed to fail. In the book he describes Boxer, the horse, who failed to learn the alphabet and struggled to string a coherent argument on any subject. Boxers adopted his his motto “Comrade Napoleon is always right!” Of course Napoleon exploited this to consolidate his iron grip on absolute power with disastrous consequence to the revolution.

In a healthy and functioning democracy it is the duty of elected public officials to implement the reforms and that it is the duty of the private citizens to hold the officials to account for what the do or failed to do in public office. The duties of each are simple enough and why some people have struggle to understand this beggars believe!

The Chamisa Chete Chete brigade have the whole concept of public official and private citizen twisted. They are adamant their leader, Nelson Chamisa, is not only unaccountable to mere mortals but that the said mortal who dare to hold him to account must be silenced by hook or by crook. He/she must account for their failure to form their own political party and to implement reforms! This is just a variation on Boxer’s “Comrade Napoleon is always right!”

Of course, Zimbabwe’s hopes and dreams of ending the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship and replacing it with a healthy and functioning democratic system is doomed! One cannot reason with someone with the IQ of a horse!

“The way vana Moyo used to attack Tsvangison is no different from some of these personal attacks on Chamisa from this group. Zimb will never progress as a Nation with this kind of mindset.Lets get out this 1962 mentality mhani. No wonder why Africa is labelled Dark Continent.Look at vana Vietnam...they are progressing.”

What has held back Zimbabwe all these years are the village idiots who think leaders are infallible demigods who must never be held to account.

You are one of the individuals in this group who supported the participating in the 2023 elections because you believed Chamisa had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes. Are you man enough to apologise for your foolishness?

Chamisa has proven that he is corrupt and incompetent the only reason why many nZimbabweans out there still hang on to him is because they have no clue what the reforms are much less how they are to be implemented. And so to tell them Chamisa has sold out on reforms they have no clue what you talking about.

Just because the wildebeest herd has no clue why MDC leaders are corrupt and incompetent does not meaning they are competent. What it means is the herd will continue to elect them into power and thus Zanu PF will rig the elections and thus perpetuating the dictatorship and our suffering.

The price for having an ignorant and naive electorate is the failed state!
