Answering rhetorical question: Who rigged elections? will never stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Think! W Mukori

“Excellent essay but you get no marks because you did not answer what you were asked. You should read the question carefully and answer what you are asked and not what you wanted to be asked!”

I remember this comment from my Bible Knowledge teacher, a soft spoken Swiss Priest. I failed my end of team examination but that comment, more than anything else since, has helped me do better than ever in school examinations and the trial and tribulations of life.

Last August 2023, Zimbabwe had its five-yearly national elections and is was yet another disaster. SADC, AU and even Zimbabwe’s own ZHRC election observers condemned the election process as a farce. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the elections. We did not even have something as basis as a verified voters’ roll, for Pete’s sake!

So 43 years after independence, 2 500 years after the Greeks gave humanity the gift of democracy - government of the people, for the people and by the people; we, in Zimbabwe, cannot get past first base - hold free, fair and credible elections! Why? Oh why?

“You keep answering the question you wanted to be asked and not  answering the question you were asked!” my Bible Knowledge teacher would say, if he was here!

Each time Zanu PF has rigged elections these 43 years Zimbabweans have gone to town about how evil and tyrannical the regime is. We have all been quick and passionate in asking the question; Who rigged the elections? This is the question we WANTED to be asked.

As far back as the late 1990s, many Zimbabweans realised that as long as Zanu PF retained the dictatorial powers to rig elections, the regime will rig elections and nothing will ever change. Therefore asking and answering: Who rigged the elections? was clearly a rhetorical and a futile exercise.

The nation would benefit from stopping Zanu PF rigging the elections and not knowing who rigged the elections. The nation would be better off answering: How can we stop Zanu PF rigging the elections?

The nation came to a consensus to risk all to elect opposition members whose number one task would be to implement the necessary democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Morgan Tsvangirai and friends launched their party in 1999 on the promise to deliver the democratic changes, as the party name implied - Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).

As noted above, Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 23 August 2023 just as the party has rigged elections in the past, precisely because the opposition has failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years, including 5 in the 2008 to 2013 GNU. And so the follow up question to ask is: Why has MDC/CCC failed to implement the reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections?

We all know why MDC/CCC leaders have not only failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years but, worse still, have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship and the people’s suffering. Tsvangirai and company have proven to be corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office and they forgot all about implementing the reforms.

There are some hardcore MDC/CCC supporters who consider Chamisa and company to be infallible demigods who can do no wrong. These are simpletons who have failed to understand what the democratic reforms are about, how they are implemented and that the GNU was the golden opportunity to implement the reforms. They do not blame MDC leaders for failing to implement any reforms; how can they blame anyone for not doing something they do not know what it is.

So instead of answering: Why did MDC/CCC sell out on stoping Zanu PF rigging elections? The hardcore MDC/CCC has reverted to the question the WANT to be asked: Who rigged the elections?

After 43 years of rigged elections and with the nation in deep, deep economic and political trouble the people of Zimbabwe are at a cross-road: answer the rhetorical question the hardcore opposition WANT asked. Or answer the relevant questions whose answer will point the way out of this hell!

Zimbabwe will never had free, fair and credible elections without electing the competent opposition leaders who will implement the democratic reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

In this life, you are rewarded for answering the question life throws at you and punished for answering the questions you wanted to be asked but were never asked. That is LIFE!

  1. Former political detainee Job Sikhala has severed ties with the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), likening the opposition group to a lifeless entity, and has established his own political movement.

Sikhala, recently released from incarceration, had remained silent regarding his future political endeavors following the disintegration of the CCC subsequent to Nelson Chamisa's resignation.

Speaking to the press on Thursday in Harare, Sikhala unveiled his new political initiative, emphasizing its inclusive nature with involvement from civil society, students, and religious institutions.

"We're not merely announcing the formation of a political entity but rather a wide-ranging mass democratic movement that welcomes all in the advancement of the mass democratic struggle, reminiscent of the United Democratic Front (UDF) of 1980s apartheid South Africa," Sikhala declared.

"This endeavor is inspired by the noble principles upheld by countless Zimbabweans who sacrificed during the liberation struggle, Gukurahundi, and those who have perished since the revival of the goals and aspirations of the mass democratic struggle in February 1999."

Sikhala joins a growing list of prominent figures exiting the CCC amid allegations of infiltration and internal discord.

Zimbabwe’s opposition has behaved like the amoeba, it will grow but very soon it will divide and grow and subdivide again and never ever add up to much. This new mass movement has the hallmarks of Job’s Sikhala’s MDC 99, a lead balloon that never took off!

  2. THE Southern African Development Community (Sadc) appears to have closed the door on calls for fresh elections in Zimbabwe after the regional bloc's secretariat endorsed a project being spearheaded by President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government.

The African Union also threw its weight behind the multi-million-dollar Museum of African Liberation in Harare after a meeting with Mnangagwa's special envoy, ambassador Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.

Mnangagwa's regime is the prime backer of the project that is being implemented by the Institute of African Knowledge (INSTAK).

Last week, both Sadc and the AU signalled that they will work with Mnangagwa's government on the project.

Critics have decried this as "sanitising Mnangagwa's illegal regime”

The very idea that SADC would want Zimbabwe to hold fresh elections when CCC, "Zanu PF B team in all but name" as many now call it, is imploding would have been foolishness personified. Thank God the penny has finally dropped in some of those empty head in SADC and they have finally accepted that once CCC members had defied SADC and AU by accepting their gravy train seats and thus endorsing the August elections were free and fair, the game was up!

It was none other than CCC leaders who slammed the door shut in SADC’ face by taking up the gravy train seats and thus endorsing the elections free and fair. They want the election declare free and fair where they won the seats and flawed where they lost. There was no such basic things as verified voters roll and that was country wide. CCC leader and supporters are tediously childish, they think they can have their cake and eat it too!

Chamisa has already proven than he is corrupt and incompetent by failing to implement even one token reform in 23 years by when you regard him as a demigod all that is water off a duck's back. How anyone can regard another mortal as a demigod speaks volumes of the individual!

Uyu musha wangu . I have stayed here for 27 yrs. Its only last week that l was told by the court to vacate from that village before the 1st of March 2024. Its a 10 roomed house plus those other structures that you see , a borehole which is 110 metres deep and a 1 km length of 8 lines barbed wire by 2m in height, and l used close to 80 000 usd. Kumusha hakusi ku growth point, huye hakusi ku peri urban. The time that I built this house l was working. Then l decided to go for an early retirement, l am a pensioneer now. If the government demolishes my house in March, where will I go and where will I get money to built-up another structure ini ndachembera? Government must help people not to destroy our lives. Let's fight together, talk to the gvt , they has to stop these evacuations. During all the 27 yrs that I am staying here, they used to bring ballot boxes in times of elections, they used to hold some rallies in our village, and why only now , they are saying you are illegal settlers?

This is truly tragic. Zanu PF has denied the people in the rural areas title deeds for selfish political reasons. The same selfish political reasons Ian Smith refused to give blacks title deeds!

    “Apa handisi kunzwisisa ini.
By taking our seats in Parliament, did we score an own goal?
Did we defy SADC by doing that?”

Of course CCC defied SADC by taking up the gravy train seats in parliament, senate and local the party won in the elections. SADC and AU said the election process was so flawed and illegal it could not produce a legal result. CCC members said the process was free and fair and produced legal results in all those areas the party had won.

Of course, SADC was right in condemning the whole process because there was no verified voters' roll, many opposition rallies were banned, there was voter intimidation, etc. problems that affected everyone.

CCC are saying these election flaws are not important as long as they won the gravy train seats. In other words CCC want the election process to be judge free and fair in areas they won and flawed were the lost. Tendai Biti justified this idiotic contradiction on the ground CCC must hang on to “zones of autonomy”. Zanu PF has been careful to let the opposition win some seats to maintain the facade Zimbabwe is a multi-party democracy.

No election observer would go along with this nonsense of judging election process on the basis of result because it is a foolish idea. It is shocking that some CCC bought into this zones of autonomy nonsense, we should not forget they are a naive and gullible lot.

SADC’s position is, if Zimbabwe’s opposition accept the elections free and fair (or be it CCC insist in being selective SADC does not) then SADC has no choice but to accept that as the wish of the people of Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe is a failed state because MDC/CCC failed to implement reforms thus allowing Zanu Pf to continue to rig elections. This is not just a historic fact but one that is relevant now because unless we implement the reforms Zanu PF will rig the 2028 elections. How you can say that is propaganda beggars belief!

After MDC failed to implement even one democratic reform at the end of the 2008 to 2013 GNU it was clear the leaders were corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. The nation should have dropped Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends like a hot potato because it was clear they would never implement the reforms the nation was dying for.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections precisely because MDC/CCC had not only failed to implement the reforms to stop the rigging but worse still, they were participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

There is no viable opposition party, led by any of the former MDC leaders, that can be trusted to implement the reforms and thus end the curse of Zanu PF rigging the elections. “43yrs of Zanupf failure taura nezvayoooo.”

By the late 1990s some of us finally realised that the nation was stuck with Zanu PF and as long as the party was able to rig elections there will be no change. It was utterly pointless participating in flawed elections in which Zanu PF had carte blanche powers to rig elections. And it was foolish asking the question who rigged the elections because we all knew the answer to that one. The nation needed plan B.

Plan B was born out of asking the question: What can be done to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections? The answer was to elect opposition leaders who will implement the democratic changes necessary to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. MDC was launched in 1999 promising to implement the democratic changes.

Zanu PF rigged last year’s August 2023 elections, proof the opposition had failed to implement the reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

The rational question one MUST ask is why has MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement any reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. And that is the question you should be answering.

You want us to talk about Zanu PF rigging the elections to what end and purpose? We already know Zanu PF rigged the elections and that the party will never reform itself out of office. You still want us to talk about Zanu PF because you do not want to admit MDC/CCC are corrupt and incompetent and have failed to implement any reforms.

To stop Zanu PF rigging 2028 elections we must get competent opposition leaders who will implement the reforms and hence the reason we must deal with the corrupt and incompetent MDC/CCC leaders here and now.

The very idea that the nation must be dragged deeper and deeper into this hell-on-earth because Zanu PF is allowed to rig elections because we do not have the courage and intellect to admit Chamisa and company are corrupt and incompetent is absurd! And only a village idiot would defend such nonsense!

“43yrs of Zanu PF failure taura nezvayoooo.” To avoid talking about CCC and so allow Zanu PF to rig 2028 elections too? How idiotic can one be!

The sure way to stop Zanu PF rigging election in future is by electing a competent opposition that will implement the reforms - that is the holy grail! And it would be unforgivable to allow a village idiot to distract the nation on some wild goose chase. FOCUS!

  23. Chamisa and company were elected into power to implement the reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections. Zanu PF has not stopped rigging the elections it makes sense to ask why MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years, including 5 in the GNU.

The trouble here is that there are people who have failed to understand what reforms are much less how they are implemented they will never understand that MDC/CCC leaders sold out by failing to implement reforms.

They understand Zanu PF rigged the elections but they do not understand that MDC/CCC could have stopped the rigging and so it is wasting time talking about reforms with such people.

To keep wittering about Zanu PF is the one in power and therefore must be blame for the rigged elections is to fail to appreciate the reality Zanu PF will never reform itself out of office, one. Two, that the opposition was elected to implement the reforms to stop Zanu PF rigging elections.

The solution to stopping Zanu PF rigging elections is not simple arithmetic of a + b = c. It is more like a quadratic equation: ax^2 + bx + c = 0.

Of course, if all you know is simple arithmetic you will never solve a quadratic equation. Zanu PF is in power and therefore to expect the regime to reform itself out of office is stupid. But is you are a simpleton who only knows simple arithmetic, you will go along with the stupid solution.

Albert Einstein said insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expect a different result. He did not have to say but the implication is obvious; those who do the same thing over and over again expecting a different result are INSANE.

Well, Zimbabweans have participated in flawed elections, knowing the elections are flawed “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw”, to quote David Coltart. They did do not withdraw.

They were also warned that participating would give vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and still they participated because they were conned again and again into believing MDC/CCC will win big because Chamisa has “plugged all the vote rigging loop holes!” Everyone knew that ZEC had failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. Chamisa did not even deploy election agents at all Polling Station even thou he had got the funds, for Pete’s sake.

Even after 23 years of MDC/CCC and not even a single reform implemented and being conned to participate in flawed elections to perpetuate their own suffering; our Zimbabwean voters have not only failed to voice their disappointment with Chamisa and company, they are praising him as the best foot forward for Zimbabwe. Einstein would have called them INSANE, I call them VILLAGE IDIOTS!

You are asking the wrong question. If the people wanted reforms to be implemented and KNEW what those reforms are to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, MDC/CCC have clearly failed to deliver even one token reform because Zanu PF has continued to blatantly rig the elections. By participating in these elections both CCC and the public are giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuating the masses’ suffering.

The question you should be asking therefore is: Why would anyone with half a brain continue to believe CCC is the best hope for the nation out of this mess when they have failed to implement even one token reform?

The answer is the CCC herd out there have no clue what the reforms are and they are so ignorant and naive Chamisa had no problem conning into participating in one flawed election after another on the basis of idiotic lies like “I have plugged all the vote rigging loop holes!” The herd believed him even though they knew ZEC did not produce a verified voters roll.

None, because it is not for private individuals to such things but for elected officials. So why are you asking me how many reforms have I implemented when you should know private individuals do not have the power or authority to do such things!

It is now 43 years since Zimbabwe gained her independence for Pete’s sake. We cannot be talking about what public officials and private citizens can and cannot do. Worse still, we cannot be defending the notion that public officials must not be held to democratic account under the pretext that the private citizen holding the said public officials to account must first account for what they have done FIRST!

Those in public office are democratically accountable to the public that is basic and none negotiable. Why are we labouring over this; coming up with all manner of excuses why people like Chamisa must not be held to account for what they did and failed to do these last 23 years in public office, beggars belief.

  35. NERA is a waste of time. I was asked to join and I said no. All they are doing is paying lip service to reforms. They believe they are pushing for reforms and will get some reforms implemented, that is naive to say the least, because no meaningful reforms can ever be implemented by anyone outside parliament.

The litmus paper test for anyone who is serious about reforms is: Will you boycott the elections if the reforms are not implemented?

Many of those in NERA have never called for a boycott whilst others, like Douglas Mwonzora the spokesperson of NERA no less, have participated in elections with no reforms. The issue of boycotting elections has never been raised in NERA as far I know and do not expect it to ever be raised.

Zanu PF knows the gravy train good life it is offering to entice the opposition to participate with no reforms is simply irresistible even for those whiling away their time in NERA. So why should Zanu PF pay any attention to NERA!

“Am deducting that you are being pained by why people are still supporting Chamisa. If you want people not to support Chamisa, just sell your alternative policies, market how those you are aligned to will bring the change that we want. Sit down with the group you are aligned to and come up with alternative methods.

    ED has has failed
    Chamisa has failed

So who else is the best alternative?”

The people have continued to support MDC/CCC even after the tragic GNU events because these people do not have the intellect to understand what the reforms are about much less that MDC sold out in failing to implement the reforms. It is one thing for you or me to say MDC has failed but that means nothing to the ignorant and naive electorate.

Chamisa told them the blatant and idiotic lie that he had plugged all the vote rigging loop holes and the people believed him - that is the depth of ignorance and naivety we are dealing with here! When you are this ignorant and naive you do not look for alternatives because you are convinced the course you are following is working!

You seem to be avoiding my question.

You being so intelligent and the team you are aligned to those who you consider to be enlightened to understand matters " electoral reforms", what are you doing past Chamisa's failures?”

I have answered all your question but you clearly have the answers of your own. Why don’t your tell me what you think I should be doing, for example?

“Uyu wilbert anorwara njere and hatred kuna Chsmisa .Dai mwari akunzeira nyasha ukurumidze kubhadharwa ne Zpf for your articles on reforms .Bt unfortunately zpf yacho ndiyo isingatode ma reforms saka u will have a torrid time in your writing to convince Zpf to reward u.”

In his book Animal Farm George Orwell capture the essence of the mentality of the ignorant and naive in the character Boxer, the horse.

Boxer failed to learn the alphabet and could never string together a coherent response to any subject. He not only gave up trying to think for himself but went to the extreme of giving up his right to think for himself by adopting the motto “Comrade Napoleon is always right!”

In Zimbabwe we have many people who, like Boxer, are ignorant and naive and have given up the right to think for themselves and elevate the likes of Chamisa to become infallible demigods who can do no wrong. Worst of all some of these overzealous village idiots have taken it upon themselves to attack and silence all who dare try hold Chamisa to account.

I have said Chamisa failed to implement even one token democratic reforms in 23 years. You cannot deny and produce one example of the reform he implemented because you don’t even know what the reforms are much less how they are implemented - such details are way beyond your very limited intellect. So you avoid the issues I have brought up and focus instead on hatred. I hate Chamisa, you say.

You do not say what is it I have said or done to lead you that conclusion that I hate Chamisa. Again you do not say because you do not have the intellect to comprehend detail nor ability to string two ideas to express it.

You have expressed you blind loyalty to Chamisa through such idiotic expressions such as Chamisa Chete Chete. And so now you are defending him blindly not knowing whether he is wrong or right.

Of course, I am right! Zanu PF has continued to blatantly rig the elections, the very thing MDC/CCC leaders were elected these last 23 years to stop Zanu PF doing. But once again such details, facts and reason matter not a jot to you because you do not have the intelligence to comprehend them. Details, facts, etc. are just water off a duck’s back.

I am not trying to reason with you, you brain has ossified into fat for anything beyond the simplest of arguments and so I will try to express this in the simplest of language in the hope some of this will stick:

    1) you, Mukanya and many like you, are simpletons with the IQ of Boxer, the horse, and so cannot accept that Chamisa is not only a mere mortal but a corrupt and incompetent one. He is not the infallible demigod you say he is. Pointing out this simple reality does not prove I hate Chamisa; I know it does to you but only because of whom you are - a village idiot with the IQ of a horse.

    2) man is a creature of reason and intellect and to give up one’s right to think for themselves is the most foolish and idiotic thing anyone can do. This Chamisa Chete Chete mentality is idiotic because it presupposes Chamisa is infallible.

    3) All those holding public office must be accountable to the people by blindly defending Chamisa so that he is not account you are not doing the nation any favours but rather a big disservice by undermining one of the key tenets of democracy.

    4) Zimbabwe is a failed state thanks to village idiots like you who have elected buffoons into power and kept them there. If Zimbabwe is even going to get out of this mess village idiots like you must be confront head on and hence will never allow you to have the last say. Duty bound!

“Well, you asked me to tell you what you should do. Now let me tell you

"BRING US ELECTORAL REFORMS AND IN 2028 WE SHOULD GO FOR ELECTIONS UNDER NEW REFORMS" If you do this, l will be the first person to come and embrace you. Am seriously in need of those reforms but l don't know how l can make this possible.”

So you see, I was not bitting about the bush well I told you the 52% who voted for Zanu PF and 44% for CCC do not believe they need reforms or the alternative.

You are not in government right now so I do not see how you are going to get the reforms implemented before the 2028 elections.

Zanu PF will want to go into the 2028 elections without reforms and whichever CCC faction will still be standing will mobilise the electorate with the promise they have devised winning in rigged elections strategy to con the people to participate and give Zanu PF legitimacy. And 2028 will be a repeat of past elections with Zanu PF blatantly rigging the elections.

The solution to stopping Zanu PF rigging the elections is to elect the opposition who will implement the reforms. Just getting the people to accept that MDC/CCC have failed to implement the reforms because they are corrupt and incompetent is proving a bridge too far. Even after 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, and not even a token reform implemented. Many Zimbabweans, including intellectuals, still refuse to accept MDC/CCC have failed.

There is a mountain of evidence proving MDC/CCC are corrupt and incompetent and therefore to replace them with competent men and women who would implement the reforms should be a very simple and straight forward decision. Alas! Not in Zimbabwe! Many have yet to open their eyes to see the mountain of evidence and many more will never see the evidence because they do no have the intellect to comprehend it!

The decision to replace Chamisa and company is far from certain and, even then, the competence of the replacements is very much in doubt given the sheer incompetence of the electorate. And so the hope for meaningful change in Zimbabwe is generations away, if it happens at all! Tragic but true!

“What did they accomplish since independence, the ruling party, lets forget about the 23 years.”

Zanu PF has accomplished nothing and have instead been dragging us deeper and deeper into the abyss.

The people of Zimbabwe realised Zanu PF was destroying the country and more significantly the also realised that as long as the regime retained its carte blanche powers to rig elections and stay in power there was no stopping the regime dragging the nation deeper and deeper into the abyss. The solution was self-evident; stop Zanu PF rigging the elections and the nation will have a chance to elect a competent government.

By the late 1990s the people of Zimbabwe had come to a national consensus to elect politicians whose primary task would be to implement reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. In 1999 Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends offered themselves are the party that would implement the reforms the nation was dying for.

Well, Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections precisely because MDC/CCC leaders had failed to implement even one token reform to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

So you see the question: What democratic reforms have MDC/CCC implemented in 23 years? was not out of the blue.

Until we implement the reforms and stopped Zanu PF rigging the elections we know that Zanu PF will remain in power and drag us all deeper and deeper into the abyss.

You asking what Zanu PF has done these last 43 years is therefore a rhetorical question whose answer we know. Worse still, your question is a foolish and irrelevant one because it is drawing attention away from the question we need to answer to get out of the mess!

  43. Many journalists with good and compelling stories to tell don't write books in this country for many reasons.

So they die with their stories, knowledge and experiences.

Yet books are a rich repository of knowledge, information and history.

Beyond that, they are cultural artifacts which transcend generational boundaries across different times.

Their immense utility as story, information and knowledge journeys lies in connecting one generation to another to preserve history, while providing links between the past, present and future.

Given their vast experiences in reporting, writing and storytelling, Zimbabwean journalists should not simply end up as reporters, sub-editors, proof readers, editors, and news anchors.

They should be watchdogs of society - a force for the common  good and public interest - who also write useful books for current and future generations.

Could not agree more! Here it to the success of you and your many books Mr Nyarota. Here is to the hope that your example in writing books will spur others to do the same to the good of all! Thank you again for this priceless gift!

  44. Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC)'s interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu has wormed his way into Senate as one of the CCC Proportional Representatives after recalling several opposition legislators for failing to follow the party line.

On paper Zanu PF has 52 senates (32 Zanu PF, 18 Chiefs, 2 disability representatives). Just one short of the 53 for 2/3 majority. Well, in senator Tshabangu and many of these Tshabangu faction senators Zanu PF can safely say it has the 2/3 majority!

The implosion of CCC have left Zimbabwe with no opposition party worth the spit - the weakest the country has ever been since the turn of the century!

“If he’s taken out of the ring who then replaces him someone worth their salt
Or should he get off and leave ED
However the places in the ring are not limited to
The ring can accommodate as many
His presence is not barring other contestants

There is even no need to complain about his presence when no alternative is provided”

    A very interesting take!

Do you believe the nearing 2 millions (more if the elections was free, fair and credible, let’s just stick with the 2m since the exact figure is not important) Zimbabweans who vote for Nelson Chamisa last year knew and understood that he is corrupt and incompetent. They have read and understood the mountain of evidence from the GNU years to prove it. And still they voted for him because “If he’s taken out of the ring who then replaces him someone worth their salt!” as you so aptly put it?

Again, let us assume that there is indeed a mountain of evidence proving that Chamisa and company are indeed corrupt and incompetent, the people chose to ignore the evidence and continue to give their blind loyalty to him. It would be dishonest of Chamisa to take advantage of the people’s stupidity but he certainly would be tempted to do so. After all on the scheme of things the dishonest here will be nothing compared to the treasonous betrayal in failing to implement even one token reform out of greed.

“Or should he get off and leave ED?” you asked.

I will ask you to consider this: let us just suppose that MDC leaders did indeed fail to implement even one democratic reform during the GNU. Surely even you cannot deny that Zanu PF benefited from that failure.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

I have underline “giving the process credibility” because it is true that by participating in flawed elections MDC/CCC have given vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy.

In short, by failing to implement reforms and then participating in flawed elections MDC/CCC have helped Zanu PF to rigged elections and thus stay in power and get away with it. As Coltart admitted in the above quotation MDC/CCC leaders have done this for the sake of “winning seats.

Some people have made up their minds to ignore the mountain of evidence proving MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt and incompetent - for many of them it is because they have failed to understand even the simplest point on reform and so the evidence might just as well be in Chinese. What matters here is MDC/CCC are indeed corrupt and incompetent just because the CCC herd have failed to comprehend the truth and the facts does not render them untrue or irrelevant.

Worst of all, the consequences of failing to replace MDC/CCC leaders with competent leaders who would implement the reforms is why Zanu PF continues to blatantly rig the elections and perpetuating our suffering. “Or should he get off and leave ED?” There is the double edged ironic in that!

“Who is your best foot forward because even among the mediocre there is still one better?”

Good question but I would say it would be irrelevant even if one could be found because as long as the electorate are so ignorant and naive that they consider some one who with a proven track record of being corrupt and incompetent their best foot forward it is clear they really are not ready for a competent leader.

A healthy and functioning democracy demands an informed and diligent electorate. We do not have such an electorate!

A nation might have good leaders even thou the electorate is poor. But once a nation has had the misfortune of having buffoons for leaders and an ignorant and naive electorate it is very hard to get quality leaders. Our political system is a sewage pond, you do not get quality fish there because the system is designed by the riffraff for the riffraff, there is not quality there.

In Zimbabwe many of the well established companies have closed, if the economic situation is tough for big trees what more for those whose roots are just a few inches deep. If inflation was to raise above 5% how many companies in the USA will be forced to close? In Zimbabwe inflation is a staggering 1 347%. It is near impossible to do business in Zimbabwe.

The hyperinflation is wiping out people’s saving and so the nation will have to look for incoming foreign investors to revive the economy. Few Zimbabweans will have any capital to invest.

Mnangagwa keeps wittering about Zimbabwe becoming an upper middle income country by 2030, Vision 2030. It is all nonsense, it is a mirage! As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt and incompetent thugs who have to rig elections to stay in power there will be no meaningful economic recovery. Period!

So you are blaming Zanu PF and SADC for the fact that not even one token reform was implemented in five years. What exactly did Zanu PF to stop MDC submitting reform proposals?

Name one thing MDC “escalated with SADC” and the later ignored. Blaming SADC for MDC’s incompetence is the most foolish thing anyone can say.

You will never ever admit that MDC sold out on reforms because you will never ever understand the evidence; it might as well be written in Chinese!

Yes, I am obsessed about implementing reforms because that is the only way we are going to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections.

How ironic that the nitwits who have failed to understand what reforms are much less how they are implemented even with the benefit of hindsight fume each time they hear reform. The dimwits now believe the opposition have “winning in rigged elections strategies”, including Chamisa’s infamous “plugging all vote rigging loop holes”!
