“@Wilbert Mukori , my brother, help me understand you. This time I come in peace. Is it CCC which is supposed to bring about electoral reforms? I don’t seem to be hearing about what you say about their parliamentary counterparts Zanu PF in your arguments. What would a minority do to downturn the voice of the majority where a voting process rules? More questions to follow, when you answer these ones,” whatsApp message from Welly
To answer you, I will quote the Bible, not in the spirit of those who claim to have divine inspiration but in the spirit of one who believes the Bible has many lessons for our time.
“The Pharisees went away to work out between them how to trap Jesus in what he said. And they sent their disciples to him, together with the Herodians, to say, ‘Master, we know that you are an honest man and teach the way of God in an honest way, and that you are not afraid of anyone, because a man’s rank means nothing to you.
“Tell us your opinion, then. Is it permissible to pay taxes to Caesar or not?’ But Jesus was aware of their malice and replied, ‘You hypocrites! Why do you set this trap for me? Let me see the money you pay the tax with.’ They handed him a denarius, and he said, ‘Whose head is this? Whose name?’
‘Caesar’s,’ they replied. He then said to them, ‘Very well, give back to Caesar what belongs to Caesar – and to God what belongs to God.’
Matthew 22: 15 - 21.
If you believe Zanu PF is responsible for implementing the democratic reforms then hold them to account for failing to implement the reforms. As for me, I believe Zanu PF created the dictatorship and will never reform it and. per se, reform itself out of office.
The people of Zimbabwe have risked the wrath of Zanu PF to elect MDC/CCC for the primary purpose of implementing the reforms. After 23 years, 5 of which in the GNU, Chamisa and company have failed to implement even one token reform.
Worse still, MDC/CCC have given up on implementing the reforms and have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuating the dictatorship for a share of the spoils of power. Opposition leaders like Tendai Biti readily admitted it.
“Look, you can't keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections. So it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimising these sham elections which don't deliver. This country will go through a serious economic crisis in 2020 caused by Zanu PF. And yet, this is the only country where a government doesn't perform, it is encouraged by a super majority in parliament,” said Tendai Biti in a 2015 interview with Isaac Mugabi.
“So you can't continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”
David Coltart went one step further and confessed that the opposition is participating in the flawed elections out of greed, pure and simple.
“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.
In a healthy and functioning democracy the government of the day is there to govern, run the day to day operations of public affairs. The opposition is there to hold the government to account. The public have a duty to ensure they are well informed on public matters and hold both the government and opposition to account for their performance in their respective sphere of influence.
In the case of Zimbabwe, since the late 1990s the people have risked all to elect the opposition for the number one task of implementing the democratic changes to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. The opposition leaders themselves all campaign for the popular votes on the promise of delivering democratic change.
Once in power they have failed to deliver not even a token reforms when they had the golden opportunity to do so. It is cynical, to say the least, for the opposition to complain of “gigantic election fraud” or being “voiceless minority” when you knowingly participated in a flawed elections, “so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw,” but would not withdraw out of greed!
If the people of Zimbabwe are serious about ending the Zanu PF dictatorship and restoring the rule of law and good governance then they must focus on getting competent opposition that will implement the reforms because Nelson chamisa and his MDC/CCC friend will never do it. Chamisa et al have already proven beyond all doubt that they are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent.
When it comes to implementing the democratic reforms we must look to the opposition to do it not Zanu PF because that is the specific task the nation has risked all to elect the opposition to do. Zanu PF will never reform itself out of office so it is naive to expect them to!
In short, I will answer your question with a question. "Why demand CCC alone to implement reforms and not Zanu PF?" Whom did povo risked all to vote and entrusted the task?
During the GNU MDC had the golden chance to implement reforms, dismantling the Zanu PF dictatorship and thus build a democratic Zimbabwe. Not even one reform was implemented, the very fact that even now, with the benefit of hindsight, you still do not appreciate that your failure to implement even one reform was a treasonous betrayal of the people goes to show you have no clue what you are doing. You are just blundering from pillar to post.
ReplyDeleteThese time and resource wasting recalls are the result of you, Chamisa’s, failure to have a party constitution, structures, etc. You were reminded of the need for these formalities but refused to listen.
“I’m a builder!” Yeah right! MDC/CCC has failed to implement even one token reform in 23 years and yet you were entrusted to build a democratic Zimbabwe!
The people of Zimbabwe have to wake up to the reality CCC will never deliver any change.
MDC failed to implement reforms during the GNU because Mugabe bribed Tsvangirai and company; it is nonsense to blame that on the army. Mugabe invited the Army, Police and CIO into politics to bolster his position we should not pretend the Army is anything else other than a hunting dog to Zanu PF.
ReplyDeleteThe rank and file soldier would like to see a healthy and functioning democratic Zimbabwe because they are suffering the consequences of the failed state like the rest of us.
If Zimbabwe was given another chance to implement reforms, Army will not be the one to stop the transformation!
Chamisa is on ZanuPF’s payroll, with a mandate to dismantle the Western-aligned opposition to aid in establishing a locally grown opposition political party. To the pleasant surprise of his handlers in ZanuPF, he has executed his assignment with impressive efficiency.
ReplyDeleteHere's an overview of his assigned actions:
1. He strategically dismissed and marginalised experienced and intelligent opposition figures, weakening the opposition's influence and overall ability to challenge ZanuPF.
2. By deliberately not having a constitution during the election season, he undermined the opposition's institutional strength, denying them the benefits that come with a structured and organised approach.
3. Chamisa discredited the opposition's internal candidate selection process by imposing unwanted candidates, causing confusion and frustration among party supporters.
4. He adopted a weak strategy referred to as "strategic ambiguity" that allows for easy manipulation of the opposition by both internal and external forces. In essence, he ensured that no one other than him and ZanuPF knew exactly what was going on.
5. When faced with legal challenges, Chamisa ensures the opposition crafts weak responses, diminishing their chances of success and allowing ZanuPF to maintain control.
6. Additionally, he fails to provide the necessary leadership and viable solutions expected from him at critical moments, dampening the spirits of followers who look to him for guidance.
It should be noted that some details of Chamisa's actions are classified and cannot be openly discussed at this time. However, they will be revealed in due course.

Whether Chamisa is on Zanu PF’s direct payroll or indirect one in that he is benefiting from the bribes Zanu PF has laid out to entice the opposition to play along is not important. What matters is that CCC, just like the MDC before it, is dancing to Zanu PF’s tunes and thus helping to perpetuate the dictatorship.
The real fault lays with the Zimbabwean people themselves, they have been slow to realise that MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. How can be so naive to be conned into believing CCC will win big rigged elections, so flawed there was not even a verified voters’ roll; especially after 43 years of Zanu PF mafiosi rigging elections?
Zimbabweans are simply too ignorant and naive to have a healthy and functioning democracy. Even if one was handed to them on silver platter, by the end of the week there will be a number of autocracies fighting for domination.
We had the golden opportunity to end the Zanu PF dictatorship during the 2008 to 2013 GNU we not only wasted it but worst of all, are not even aware of it, even now with the benefit of hindsight! This is certainly one possible reason why SADC leaders were reluctant to be involved in Zimbabwe even after the regional election observer team condemned the 23 August elections as a farce. The regional body was involved in 2008 and nothing came out of that!

ReplyDelete“I am with you on most of the points but do not support CCC should have withdrawn from the elections. There are numerous other small parties who could have participated giving the process credibility. Their participation came out handy as it exposed the flawed process to SADC and other observing parties.”
You are wrong for three reasons:
First and foremost, no one would have needed to boycott any elections from 2013 onwards if MDC had implemented the reforms timeously. God knows they had five years in the GNU and still failed to implement even one token reform.
Mugabe bribed them with the trapping of high office and the rest is history. The very fact many people cannot accept this simple historic fact, even with the benefit of hindsight, is a serious mental blockade because everything else that follows does not makes sense without this foundation!
Second, elections are a process whose validity dependents on it being conducted in accordance to the set rules and regulations. With not even token reforms in place the 2013 elections and thereafter, were “so flawed and illegal the only ration course of action was to withdraw”. MDC/CCC have participated out of greed - same greed that stopped them implementing any reforms during the GNU.
To argue that they had to participate because there others would have participated for the gravy train seats bribes on offer. Of course, there are; who ever said MDC leaders are the only one who are corrupt and incompetent!
As for the bit about “others participating to give Zanu PF legitimacy”, that is nonsense. If CCC had boycotted the recent elections it is naive to say the world would have failed to notice 44% of the voters stayed away. Ian Smith failed to get legitimacy in the 1978 internal settlement because Zanu and Zapu boycotted that election.
Third, “Their participation came out handy as it exposed the flawed process to SADC and other observing parties.” Of all the idiotic excuses MDC/CCC leaders have given to justify their treasonous betrayal by failing to implement reforms and participating to perpetuate the dictatorship that takes the biscuit!
So we are now expected to be grateful to CCC leaders for selling out! Are we therefore to forget about CCC ever implementing reforms since SADC and AU election observer must have flaws and illegalities to report about in future elections too!

The problem with this Mukori guy yikuthi, he seems to think the MDCs and CCC are the ONLY opposition in the country. The absence of these opposition parties in any elections will never create that vacuum that he expects, to deligitimise the whole process. There will always be other parties to fill the space. ZAPU has just decided to participate in the announced December by elections, which CCC planned to boycott. So, Mukori should come up with a formula on how no opposition participates, instead of just criticising.”
Having participated in the main elections regardless of all the evidence the process was “so flawed and illegal the only rational option was to withdraw,” and international observers too condemned the process; it beggars belief why boycott by-elections even if they are going to be equally flawed.
Zanu PF got its political legitimacy already from the main elections and what happens during the by-elections will not matter one way or the other.
These by elections are a result of the in-fighting in CCC itself cause by the blundering incompetence of the leaders. So you Zanu PF should lose political credibility because CCC boycotted the by election to fight amongst themselves!
Zimbabweans have risked all to elect MDC/CCC to implement the democratic reforms. After 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, not even one token reform has been implemented. Of course, the nation must hold CCC to account.
ReplyDeleteYes, Chamisa et al, not Zanu PF, must account for the treasonous sell out on reforms because this is the A1 task people entrusted the opposition to carry out!

ReplyDelete“You think the 2013 constitution dropped from heaven handiti 🤔”
One of the reasons why Zimbabwe is a failed state is because the ordinary Zimbabweans are ignorant and naive and the ruling elite have exploited this allowing them to get away with murder!
I take it you still think the 2013 constitution was a monumental democratic achievement by the opposition. Morgan Tsvangirai call the constitution an “MDC child!’
I don’t have to remind you that the new constitution failed its acid test - it failed to delivery free, fair and credible elections!
Paul Mangwana, the Zanu PF co-chair in the parliamentary committe that drafted the 2013 constitution boasted that it was Mugabe who dictated the constitution and no wonder it is a dictator’s decree! And freedoms and rights given in one section are all taken away in the next section and hence the reason why Zanu PF has continue to enjoy is carte blanche dictatorial powers including the powers to rig elections.
It is sad that even now, with all the benefit of hindsight, anyone would still continue to wave a dictator’s decree as an exemplary achievement! You have learned nothing. Very sad!
ReplyDelete1) It was not me who wrote the article
2) Chamisa has just had one disaster after another. He promise to win big because he had plugged all the vote rigging holes and we knew all along it was just hot air, these recalls are his own making because CCC had no constitution, structure, etc.
3) It is quite possible that SADC leaders are going to ignore the damning SADC election report confirming the position that we are stuck with this Zanu PF dictatorship for the next five years.
4) Zimbabwe is in serious economic and political situation and demands of all of us a serious rethink. The idea that the opposition can continue to blunder from pillar to post and not be held to account is absurd. It is not going to be business as usual. All those in public office will be held to democratic account and there will be no untouchables!
Is God really behind Nelson Chamisa's hare-brain schemes or is he saying so to con the people and avoid being held to democratic account?
ReplyDeleteAfter 23 years, including 5 in the GNU, and not even one token reform implemented it is high time we held MDC/CCC leaders to account. If we are to get out of this economic and political mess were are in; it cannot be business as usual!

This is a nightmare and worst of all this has nothing to do with what the people voted CCC leaders to do - implement the democratic reforms and end this failed state!
