"So encouraged by covid-19 preparedness" says Chamisa - better not be Marange debacle mark2 P Guramatunhu

“I visited Wilkins hospital. So encouraging to see how the City of HARARE leaders & staff are working to enhance training, capacity and preparedness in dealing with COVID-19. I was taken through the processes. We must all do our best to be fight this pandemic,” tweeted Chamisa.
“As the world battles the COVID19 pandemic, our prayers and sympathies are with the victims, families and their loved ones.
We wish strength to the health &social services workers on the frontlines. Thank you world leaders for your efforts and leadership in these trying times,” he added.
What exactly has been done to “enhance training, capacity and preparedness in dealing with covid-19”?
Can Zimbabwe carryout the coronavirus test? How many test kits does it have?
Do we have facilities to handle coronavirus patients? How many patients can we handle?
As of last week, we heard the nation had no testing facilities and was having to send samples to SA for testing. We also heard Wilkins Hospital was waiting for Chinese experts to install equipment to enable Wilkins Hospital to handle coronavirus patients.
In 2012 Morgan Tsvangirai visited Marange and Chiadzwa diamond mining operations and gave his thumbs up only the nation to learn latter that he was lying as corruption was rampant. A few weeks after the visit Tsvangirai was on a Sea Cruise Ship – a floating five-star hotel – having a good time. No prizes for who paid for the trip! This was not the first or last time Morgan sold-out; he sold-out in failing to implement even one reform during the GNU, in participating in the 2013 elections knowing fully well that without reforms Zanu PF would rig, etc.
Nelson Chamisa and all the other MDC leaders played their part in selling out during the GNU and the 2013 elections. Chamisa and company repeated the same foolishness in participating in the 2018 elections without reforms.
One only hopes that Nelson Chamisa is not selling-out again on the coronavirus by falsely claiming the country is prepared to deal with the virus when it is not!

  1. World Health Organisation (WHO) has been complaining that some nations are not taking the threat of the coronavirus with the seriousness and urgency the matter demands. One of the critical areas is failure to test suspected coronavirus cases. It is not at all clear that Zimbabwe has done enough to test suspected cases.

It is said that Zimbabwe is having to rely on SA to test for coronavirus. Why a nation of 16 millions should not have no test kits of its own beggars belief!

Of course, the UN would know that Zanu PF is not doing near enough to stop the spread of coronavirus but would pretend everything is fine. It is fair to say the UN is fighting in the corner of the ruling elite on this matter as with many, many others at the expense of the oppressed.

  2. In his Tuesday address to the media, Mnangagwa said “Government has decided to postpone, curtail or cancel public events, gatherings and activities.”
He added, “Gatherings of more than 100 people, including those for purposes of worship and weddings stand suspended for the next 60 days after which the suspension will be reviewed.”
The World Health Organisation has discouraged public gatherings with the majority of public events around the globe including the popular English Premier League being suspended.
Zimbabwe is yet to record a confirmed case of coronavirus although the possibility of an outbreak remains very much alive, more so, after the virus is spreading like wildfire in neighbouring South Africa which has recorded 85 cases in almost a week.
Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess because of 40 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption rank lawlessness and murderous oppression that has resulted in the economic meltdown and earning the country the pariah state label. All thanks to corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship, that has ruled the country for all these years minus the five years it shared power with the corrupt and incompetent MDC.
There is no doubt that Zimbabwe, like every other country in the world, is facing its greatest challenge ever because of the serious threat to the economy, to health and to human life brought about by this coronavirus. Nations whose governance have run like clockwork for generations are being tested to the limit and many have been found wanting already. These nations with weak and feeble governments like Zimbabwe are sitting ducks.
Whilst this Zanu PF regime maintain that there is no coronavirus outbreak in Zimbabwe; only fools will believe. One has only to ask: How many patients/deaths with coronavirus like symptoms have been tested in Zimbabwe? The answer says it all – none!
No doubt Zanu PF operatives used the usual arm-twisting tactics to coerce the people of Inyanga to attend the rally. Banning public gatherings was a belated act and now the people find themselves being frog marched to their deaths! What a nightmare!

And yet Chamisa is encourage by the country’s covid-19 preparedness! What exactly he finds impressive about all this blundering incompetence is, in itself, a statement of just how incompetent he is!
We have a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical government complete with a coterie of corrupt and incompetent opposition at a time when even the most competent government would be tested. In short, we are in serious trouble!

  4. Corona virus is testing well governed and resourced nations like Italy, Spain and USA to breaking point. The virus is going to reek havoc in countries like Zimbabwe whose governance is corrupt and inapt, the country's health care services is already broken. The country has lived from hand to mouth for decades now it was no reserves to mobilise to help fight the economic and health challenges the virus outbreak will bring. None!

Zimbabweans are sitting ducks! It is a sorry situation to find oneself but there it is!

  5. Minister Coventry said on progress made so far, they want to thank Government for it has availed $23 million towards the National Sports Stadium, $13 million towards Barbour-fields and on Sakubva.

This government has no money to buy the critically need kits to test coronavirus and yet has money to upgrade stadia! This is just a nightmare that keeps giving!

  6. INDEPENDENT elections watchdog, the Election Resource Centre (ERC) has urged government to withdraw the Constitutional Amendment Bill No 2 from Parliament and refer it for further consultations to ensure the credibility of the 2023 general elections.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government has proposed 27 amendments to the Constitution and the Constitutional Amendment Bill No 2 is already before Parliament.
    .
Among the proposed amendments is the removal of the running mate clause, which was supposed to be effective in 2023. The other proposed changes will give the President the power to hire and fire his deputies, appoint judges and sign international treaties without parliamentary oversight, among others.

This is misleading, the 2018 elections were flawed and illegal and the constitution had not been amended. So this proposed amendment will only make the 2023 elections worse than the 2018 elections.

How do you turn people away? Is the protocol not to test test test? For my own peace of mind I actually wished I had been tested. I was caught off guard and my usual fiesty self didn’t even fight for it.
What I know beyond reasonable doubt is that our alleged zero statistics are lies lies lies. One wonders the motive behind this and blatant cruelty. Literally sending people to death and more critically to potentially spreading this virus.
God bless Zimbabwe because we are in for a rough ride and at the hands of those who have their own agendas.
In the meantime. I am torn, do I self quarantine? What about all the people I’ve been in contact with? I literally don’t know what to do.
Countries like South Korea have managed to contain the coronavirus because they were very aggressive with the testing and deep cleaning. S Korea was carrying out a staggering 20 000 test a day and there had armies of cleaners deep cleaning buildings and even streets and buildings!
We already know that some coronavirus patients will not have the usual symptoms such as high temperature, cough, etc. and yet be infectious. To fail to test someone with the other symptoms but not high temperature is therefore a foolish thing to do indeed.
It is quite possible that coronavirus will spread more widely during the cold weather than the hot and so we will are not out of the woods yet! So what we might be having now is a small infection rate but spreading to every corner of the country. The spread will pick up with the cold weather and every corner of Zimbabwe will then be an epicentre – the country will be overwhelmed!
The coronavirus outbreak is taking place at a time when the Zimbabwe economic is in total meltdown and its health care services have all but collapse. In short the country is ill-equipped to deal with the pandemic. Still many, many people’s suffering and lives would have been saved if the country had taken full advantage of the low spread afforded by the warm weather and tested aggressively.
But given that this Zanu PF regime is notoriously corrupt, incompetent and does not give a damn about the suffering and deaths of the masses, it is no surprise the regime has done landed us in this coronavirus mess. “We are screwed!” you said. Zanu PF has its reputation to consider!
As a nation we have done little to stop Zanu PF screwing the nation these last 40 years and, until we finally snap out of our sloth-like slumber, the party will continue to screw us up. Anyone who thinks that Zanu PF is going to give up its dictatorial powers without the nation demanding change deserves to be screwed up!
