"I am taking Zimbabwe to Canaan" says ED - dragged us to hell-on-earth P Guramatunhu

“PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has rewarded one of the biggest indigenous churches, the Zion Christian Church (ZCC), with a tractor and other agricultural inputs for overwhelmingly voting for him and his party in the July 30 elections,” reported News Day.

“This is one of the many presents gifted to the church, whose leader, Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, is an ardent supporter of the ruling Zanu PF party.
Mnangagwa visited the church before elections soliciting for votes and promised to come back after the polls.”

Mnangagwa squandered as much as $5 billion in all manner of vote rigging and vote buying schemes ZCC are not the only ones to sell their vote; the Chiefs, judges, MDC leaders during the GNU; outsiders like NIKUV, the Israeli vote rigging specialists; are all involved. As a nation, we have more than our fair share of sell-outs hence the reason all our attempts to have a healthy and functional democracy have been a total failure!

The very fact that most of the voters have no clue what a democratic system is and so fail to see these sell-outs for who they are only makes the situation even worse.

By rigging the recent elections President Mnangagwa has confirmed Zimbabwe is still a pariah state and thus slammed the door shut in the face of would-be investors. There is no hope of meaningful economic recovery; no investors would want to do business in a pariah state ruled by vote rigging thugs.

Zimbabwe’s present economic situation with unemployment a nauseating 90%, most basic services like supply of clean running water and health care all but collapse, etc. is socially, politically and morally unsustainable. Now, thanks to Zanu PF confirming we are a pariah state; we can be certain of two things; one, the economic meltdown will get worse. Second, there will be a second military coup, violent street protests, anything to end this unsustainable situation.

The current shortages of fuel, forex, food, medicine, etc. are stoking the people’s anger; there is a limit to how much people can tolerate and that limit was reached and exceeded a long time ago. Zimbabwe is now a ticking time bomb!

The violent revolution can be avoided, even now on the eleventh hour, if Mnangagwa and his junta step down now to allow the appointment of an interim administration to oversee the transition from a corrupt and vote rigging autocracy to a healthy and functional democracy. It is most unfortunate that Mnangagwa and his junta do not have the common sense to accept the dictatorship has failed and the people themselves do not have the common sense to demand change.

The time bomb will explode, like all violent revolution, it will destroying a lot of property and cause much suffering and even loose of human lives. And, worst of all, there is no guarantee it will deliver the democratic and prosperous Zimbabwe that has eluded us all these last 38 years. Many people still have no clue how Zanu PF rigged the recent elections, for example, and so they will be short changed just as easily as happened again and again these last 38 years.

“Yes, we have our own problems; it is just like when a lady is delivering, the nurses will tell her to push. But after that, the mother celebrates the kid. The same applies in the country. Let’s push. We may have issues, but let’s unite. Better days are to come,” Mnangagwa told his ZCC audience.

“Do not be afraid even if you have many problems because God is on our side, we will overcome. Just like the Israelites on their journey to Canaan, some among them thought of going back to Egypt. Even today, among our midst, we have those that want to take the country back to Egypt.”

This is Zimbabwe’s worst nightmare that sell-outs and tyrants should count themselves the worthy custodians of the Holy Scripture and even the modern Moses leading the people out of bondage into freedom.  Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF thugs have ridden roughshod over the people, denying them their freedoms and basic human rights including the right to free and fair elections and even the right to life. Bishop Nehemiah Mutendi, just like the Chiefs, the Judges, etc., has played his part in frog marching his church followers to polling station and voting for Mnangagwa and Zanu PF.

“No man is free who is not master of himself!” said the Greek Philosopher, Epictetus. He was former slave himself.

So, until every Zimbabwean has a meaningful say in the governance of the country, a meaningful share of the nation’s wealth and riches; they are masters of their own destiny, captain of their own soul; it is nonsense to talk of the people of Zimbabwe are free.

The oppressive and exploitative white colonial regime had one redeeming quality it had the common sense to achieve economic prosperity or be it failed to share the wealth fairly. The corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF regime of the last 38 years and counting destroyed the economy and ruthlessly crashed the people’s hopes and dreams. Zanu PF does not have even one redeeming quality. Not one!

“Even today, among our midst, we have those that want to take the country back to Egypt.” As if it is inconceivable for post-independence black led government to be worse that white colonial! It is conceivable that yesterday’s liberators can be today’s oppressors and even worse oppressors than yesterday’s oppressors. Oppressors can come from anyone with a mean spirit regardless of race, gender, etc.

Mr Mnangagwa, the people of Zimbabwe will never live in freedom and human dignity under your mean spirited leadership. The people would have rejected you and your Zanu PF junta decades ago if you did not rig elections. We all know you rig the recent elections and are, per se, illegitimate. The most rational course of action is for you to step down and allow the nation to get out of the hell-on-earth you have landed the nation into.

  1. Another first class article thank you Derek.

Recovery can only come with foreign investment in Zimbabwean commerce and industry. But what investor would want to bring hard currency onshore, to see its value immediately reduced as it is turned into RTGS money, where profits are generated in RTGS money and offshore shareholders cannot be paid?

So the logjam continues. The currency problem cannot be solved without investment, and investment won’t come until the currency problem is solved and certainly not while Zimbabwe has shown itself prone to bouts of extreme economic chaos and potential social unrest. And while government scratches its collective head, Zimbabwe’s economy inches ever closer to the brink.

It is not that we do not have Zimbabweans like you Derek, who understand that what is going on and thus would have offered solution not only to stop the nation falling over the edge into the abyss but make Zimbabwe one of the most prosperous nations again. Our real tragedy is we have a corrupt and tyrannical political system that does not allow common sense to prevail.

We are stuck, have been for the last 38 years, with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship that has rigged elections to stay in power against the will of the people whilst it imposed its voodoo economic policies that have dragged the nation right up to the edge of the brink. If we do not wrestle power from the Zanu PF junta, it will take us over the edge! Time is running out!

President Mnangagwa rigged the 30 July 2018 elections and thus rendered his regime illegitimate; he knows that and the whole world knows it too. It is bad enough if the nation was dragged into economic chaos and social unrest by a regime they, the people, had elected. It is infuriating that the nation should be dragged into this hell-hole by a usurper, an illegitimate regime, “mubva ndiripo” as one would say in Shona.

Zimbabweans must turn all their attention at removing Mubva ndiripo from State House before he drags the nation into the abyss!
