The
December 12th Movement has said it will hold a "welcome" rally for
President Emmerson Mnangagwa who is in the United States for the United Nations
General Assembly.
"President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF won an overwhelming victory in the recent free and fair elections by the people of Zimbabwe who continue to be uncompromising in their commitment to Zimbabwe's sovereignty and independence," the group said in a statement Friday.
"President Mnangagwa and Zanu PF won an overwhelming victory in the recent free and fair elections by the people of Zimbabwe who continue to be uncompromising in their commitment to Zimbabwe's sovereignty and independence," the group said in a statement Friday.
Mnangagwa
rigged the 30th July 2018 elections. His regime denied 2 to 3 million
Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote with the same callous disregard of their
right to a meaningful vote reminiscent of America’s deep south blatant denial
of blacks their right to vote.
Tyrants
like Mugabe have spoken against black oppression in America and for that the
Movement’s members have supported the tyrant to the hilt ignoring the brutal
oppression he was inflicting on black Zimbabweans.
Of course,
the December 12th Movement is out to welcome Mnangagwa they in the hope that he
too will follow Mugabe’s example and fight in their corner for that is all they
care about.
"The
elections were observed by national delegations from around the world. Our
observations of many poll sites reflected a well-organized process. Every
detail was witnessed and signed by every party," said Attorney Wareham,
one of the Movement members.
"We were there for the duration. The overwhelming majority of international observers declared the elections free and fair."
The “overwhelming majority” and yet he could not name even one observer team that said that. Even the AU and SADC teams, known for endorsing dodgy election processes in Zimbabwe and other African countries had to qualify their endorsement this such phrases as “substantially”. Some of the teams from the 30 or so nations with a democratic history said the elections were rigged whilst other chose to condemn the elections with their silence.

"The December 12th Movement maintains our support for ZANU-PF and the people of Zimbabwe and demand an end to the illegal economic sanctions implemented by the United States Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act (ZDERA), and the recent amendment by President Trump which stiffens the undermining of the self-determination of Zimbabwe and land reform in Africa," said Wareham.
President
Mnangagwa and his junta rigged the elections and, per se, the regime is
illegitimate.
Wareham
may not have voted for any of the recent American governments but even he
cannot deny the elections were free, fair and credible and therefore the
elected governments were legitimate. Surely a legitimate government is free to
decide with whom the nation can do business. Wareham and his follow Movement
friends may not agree with ZDERA but that does not make the sanctions illegal
since they were imposed by a legitimate regime.
ZDERA
making perfect sense as to is putting on the pressure on the illegitimate Zanu
PF dictatorship to implement the democratic reforms and hold free and fair
elections. Every thinking Zimbabwean out there know that the root cause of the
country’s problems is the failure to hold free, fair and credible elections.
All this talk of sanctions as the root cause of the nation’s problems is just
hogwash!
Those
nations, notably the British, who have decided to recognise and support this
illegitimate Zanu PF regime diplomatically, financially, etc. are not doing the
long suffering people of Zimbabwe an favours. The country is in this economic
and political hell-on-earth because of 38 years of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu
PF dictatorial rule. The people of Zimbabwe have failed to remove the regime
from power all these years because it rigged elections.
Zimbabwe
is stuck with this vote rigging Zanu PF dictatorship. The only peaceful way to
force it out of office is to deny the regime all support after all it is
illegitimate.
For 38
years Zanu PF has rigged elections and it ever got was a slap on wrist. If Zanu
PF is allowed to stay in power to the next elections, in 2023, we can be
certain the regime will rig those elections too. This madness must be stopped
and stopped now!
The
Movement member are just as stupid as those Palestinians who supported Saddam
Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait just because he demanded that Israelis should vacate occupied Arab lands. Of course,
the people of Kuwait were furious with the tyrant of Iraq for invading their
country and they were equally furious with those Palestinians who chose to
ignore the injustice of the invasion for selfish reasons. It is little wonder that
many of the selfish Palestinians, who had been welcomed in Kuwait and had lived
there for many years, were booted out of the country together with Hussein!
Speaking Friday to CNN's Christiane Amanpour in New York, Mnangagwa said that he wants to "embed constitutionalism in Zimbabwe" and that he believes "the past will be left behind."
ReplyDeleteThis is just nonsense, Mnangagwa insist on being transparent, democratic and respecting the rule of law and yet he has just rigged the elections. He insists the elections were free, fair and credible and yet he saw to it that 2 to 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora were denied the vote.
The regime failed to release a verified voters' roll although this is a legal requirement. We know why! The elections results showed that there were 16 polling stations in which 2 or more stations within a short distance of each other had exactly the same number of ballot cast and exactly the same number of votes for Mnangagwa, for example. A close examination of the verified voters' roll would have confirmed these were bussed in voters hence the reason the regime did not want the voters' roll released, it was the smoking gun.
Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess because the nation has been stuck with this corrupt, incompetent, tyrannical and vote rigging Zanu PF dictatorship for 38 years. If this illegitimate regime is allowed to stay in power for the next five years then we can be 100% certain that Zanu PF will win the 2023 elections with yet another landslide victory.
Mnangagwa rigged the 30 th July 2018 elections, his regime is per se illegitimate and therefore must not be given and political or financial support. The people of Zimbabwe are desperate to get out of the hell-hole Zanu PF landed the nation and holding of free, fair and credible elections is our ticket out of this hell. Forcing this illegitimate Zanu PF to accept that it is indeed illegitimate is our first step in securing that ticket!
We have allowed Zanu PF to get away with rigged elections for 38 years this must stop and stop right away!
Former president Kgalema Motlanthe has reportedly assured Zimbabweans that the commission of inquiry into Zimbabwe's post-election violence that took place on August 1 will "come up with a credible report after the hearing".
ReplyDelete"So far allow us to do that assignment. The members in the commission are honourable people so it gives the commission a bit of credibility," New Zimbabwe quoted Motlanthe as saying.
Former president Motlanthe must know that SA played a leading role in the setting up of the 2008 GNU in Zimbabwe and supervised the new administration for the next five years. The GNU's principle task was to implement the democratic reforms and thus stop the repeat of blatant vote cheating and wanton violence of 2008. So much for "Africa solving Africa's problems!"
One has only to look at the members of this commission, not even one of the members is a man or woman of substance. It is clear this is going to be yet another whitewash.
I do agree 100% with Tajamuka that this Zanu PF regime must NOT be allowed to serve its full five-year term. If we fail to force this regime our of power before 2023 then we can be 100% certain Zanu Pf will rig that year's election and secure another landslide victory and so the miss rule will continue!
ReplyDeleteCatholic food relief agencies in Zimbabwe are struggling to meet growing demand for aid and say they need extra resources as fears of food shortages swell in the aftermath of the July 30 elections, in which President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front party emerged victorious.
ReplyDeleteThis is really sad for a country that once upon a time was the bread basket of the region and is therefore, for all intent and purposes, the Garden of Eden. This is the damning testimonial of failed leadership and the consequences of our failure to remove it from power.
Zimbabwe is not getting out of this hell-hole in which Zanu PF has landed the nation until the people take the business of electing competent and accountable leaders with the sense of urgency and seriousness the matter demands.
Zanu PF has blatantly rigged the recent elections and all most people have done is shrug their shoulders; proof they have learned nothing from the last 38 years of rigged elections.
There is growing donor fatigue, there is something unholy about those in the Garden of Eden failing to feed themselves because they are just too lazy to do so!
@ Tondorindo Murisa
ReplyDelete"The baritone sound of protest from the opposition legislators is ill-advised and not in the best interest of anyone, let alone our country. Orchestra or solo, what are they trying to achieve and to whose benefit?," you say.
"They participated in the democratic process of elections and the people spoke loudly and clear. We even heard from the opposition leadership that they had, in their back pocket, foolproof mechanisms to stop rigging."
Whilst it is true that the MDC opposition are a waste of time and space. Chamisa's position that the elections are free and fair only if he wins was a foolish one. He was warned no to go into the elections without first implementing the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. He was confident MDC Alliance would win the rigged elections and failed to do so. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the elections.
Still, the nation must not lose sight of the fact that Zanu PF rigged the elections, that the nation is in this economic and political mess because we have been stuck with this corrupt and vote rigging Zanu PF dictatorship for 38 years already and, most important of all, the nation is not getting out of the mess until we cure ourselves of this vote rigging curse.
This Zanu PF regime rigged the elections and it must not be allowed to get away with it. The regime is illegitimate because it rigged the elections and all pressure must be brought on it to step aside. If Zanu PF is still in office by the next elections, in 2023, then the regime will rig the vote and we will still be stuck!
Forget Chamisa and his MDC Alliance, they make a lot of noise and nothing more. It is Mnangagwa and his junta we should be worried about; they are the ones who rigged elections and the regime constitutes the corrupt and oppressive pariah state.
@ News Day
ReplyDelete"WHILE heckling and walkouts during parliamentary sessions are common the world over, and are considered legislators' privileges, it is important that in countries like ours, where a positive attitude may be the difference between life and death for citizens, lawmakers are advised to exercise this right with a modicum of caution," advised News Day.
What is more serious "heckling and walkouts" or blatantly rigging elections? I would say the latter has now because a matter of life and death specially now after 38 years of being stuck with this corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship that rigged elections to stay in power.
"The defendant (Chikwinya) is indebted/liable to the plaintiff (Zetdc) as at August 31, 2018 in the sum of $31 765, being charges in respect of power/electricity supplied by the plaintiff to the defendant at the latter's special request and instance in terms of the running electricity supply contract between the two, for account number 2249447," the power utility said in its declaration.
ReplyDeleteIt is shocking how quickly these Zanu PF minister, grandees, etc. get into all manner of trouble as soon as the all-important party protection is removed. Former Minister Chikwinya should pay form minister Didymus Mutasa a visit for some advice on how to cope with life on reduced or zero income!
Legislators from both Zanu-PF and the MDC have expressed anger at the government's decision to suspend the purchase of new vehicles for them - with the money budgeted for that now earmarked to fight the deadly cholera outbreak which has claimed dozens of lives and left thousands of people requiring treatment.
ReplyDeleteThis comes after President Emmerson Mnangagwa's administration recently declared the cholera epidemic a national emergency, as it struggles to raise about $60 million needed to contain the highly infectious disease - which by end of this week had killed at least 32 people.
MPs from both the ruling party and the opposition who spoke to the Daily News yesterday said government's decision to suspend the purchasing of the vehicles and channel that money to fighting cholera was a "travesty" of justice as they were entitled to all their benefits.
Outspoken and independent legislator for Norton Temba Mliswa led the chorus of disapproval over the decision saying it was wrong for the government to suspend the MPs' entitlements simply because there was a disease outbreak.
"You cannot suspend people's salaries because there is a cholera outbreak. The problem is that councils are mismanaged. This is an issue of mismanagement.
The culture of public service has long been eroded away and replace by gravy train culture! These MPs do not care that there is corruption and the nation's affairs are in a real mess as long as they get as much loot to feather their own nest as they can.
It is a fact that some, a minority but a vocal one nonetheless, black Americans have supported some of Africa's tyrants for no better reason than that the tyrants have condemned the continued oppression of blacks in America. The tyrants have been nothing more than hypocrites since they have inflicted more suffering and worse human rights violation of the blacks in their own country than that black Americans were being subjected to.
ReplyDeleteYes, of course, one will be more concerned about their own throbbing headache than the news of an earthquake in some distant land that has just killed hundreds of thousands of people. Still, when push comes to shove it would be wrong to consider one's headache a worse disaster than the earthquake.
The way the black US Senator, Karen Bass, has refused to see the blatant vote rigging in the recent elections is symptomatic of this "see no evil, hear no evil and say no evil" attitude of some black Americans when it comes to dealing with Africa's tyrants.
"My key findings was that the process appeared to be very well organized, it was peaceful. I will tell you that I was envious of an 85% turnout in an election which I certainly have not seen in the United States," commented Senator Bass.
Would she ever accept an election in America in which there is no voters' roll, something as basic as that? The election results show there was multiple voting, for example, which explains why Zanu PF did not want to release the voters' roll and the 85% turnout!
The continued indifference of black Americans like the December 12th Movement members and even high ranking blacks like Senator Bass to the continued oppression black Africa's tyrannical regimes is exasperating, to say the least.
Why are the black American majority saying nothing to condemn the sheer foolishness of people like senator Bass?

As a people, blacks have shown this chilling indifference to the suffering of their own kith and kin that other races have exploited again and again. It is no secret that it was blacks who hunted down fellow blacks and sold them to the slave traders for a fistful of beads and a piece of calico cloth.
Indeed millions Zimbabweans are groaning under worse economic and political situation today than that the white colonials ever imposed! Black on black oppression has been worse than white on black oppression. Senator Bass is nothing but the Americanised version of any Zanu PF thug or MDC sell-out.
"The Movement member are just as stupid as those Palestinians who supported Saddam Hussein’s invasion of Kuwait just because he demanded that Israelis should vacate occupied Arab lands." This is very true!
ReplyDeleteThe December 12 th Movement is about fighting for the human rights of blacks in America and the members are so focus on their rights they really do not give a damn that there blacks in Africa who are a lot worse off than them. They supported Mugabe and now Mnangagwa for no better reason than that the dictators have support the movement politically - it is quite possible that Zanu PF has even bankrolled the group too. They have completely ignored all reports of the economic meltdown and political oppression the two have brought upon the masses in Zimbabwe.
Mnangagwa ask Zimbabweans in America to return home.
ReplyDeleteMnangagwa is typical of all tyrants, he is cocksure that he will transform Zimbabwe into a prosperous middle income nation just as Mugabe was cocksure he was bring mass prosperity to us all (Gutsva ruzhinji!) And typical of such tyrants they are so sure they will succeed they justify rigging elections on the grounds that those who would doubt them are so stupid they do not deserve the vote! Mnangagwa has just rigged this year's elections for exactly the same reason he has rigged elections in the past, he is cocksure Zanu PF will bring mass prosperity.
We must say no to these Mr-Know-It-All who never admit to failure even with a 38 years track record of failures! We must demand free, fair and credible elections and those who rig elections must be forced from office immediately. All this nonsense of giving illegitimate regimes a chance to prove themselves has only given those rigging elections the confidence to concentrate in rigging elections knowing they will get away with it
