"ED are you tired of stealing elections?" cried Biti - our destiny must never be at mercy of ED's whim P Guramatunhu

MDC Alliance Principal Tendai Biti has expressed reservations over why the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) is refusing to show  opposition parties the printing of ballots if there was nothing wrong they were doing.

MDC leaders have proven to be breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent, after nearly 20 years of blundering from pillar to post one is tempted to say “Nothing that lot does or says, will surprise me anymore!” And yet they have, time and time again, managed to sink to new depths of stupidity that has left one speechless!

"Why are you not getting tired of stealing elections? How do you feel when you are in charge and inside you know that you have stolen elections?" said Tendai Biti, according to a report in Bulawayo 24.

"Mnangagwa my friend please do not steal this election. Guveya (Chiwenga) my friend do not steal this elections. You voter do not support those who want to steal this election. Support the agenda of transformation, agenda of prosperity..."

"Let’s go and vote look for MDC Alliance, look for a handsome young man Chamisa they say X to them."

How naïve! How breathtakingly naïve!

President Mnangagwa, VP Chiwenga and the rest of the Zanu PF junta have been stealing elections for the last 38 years for Pete’s sake! Why would these thugs abandon the very thing that had kept them in power all these years? Ever since the country gained her independence, the nation is yet to hold free, fair and credible elections.

The 2008 elections have proved, beyond all doubt, that Zanu PF’s vote rigging skills had reached the crescendo, the epoch, where the regime would never ever lose an elections over which it has the carte blanche powers to rig the vote. Never ever!

No one, not even SADC and AU election observers would recognise Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF thugs’ claim of 2008 electoral victory, given the blatant cheating and wanton violence that had taken place. SADC forced Robert Mugabe to agree to the implementation of a raft of democratic reforms designed to take away his dictatorial power including the carte blanche powers to rig the elections. The GNU of 2008 to 2013 comprising Mugabe and his Zanu PF party and the two MDC factions led by Morgan Tsvangirai and Arthur Mutambara.

MDC leaders failed to implement even one democratic reform in the five years of the GNU. Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office; ministerial limos, generous salaries and allowances, a $4 million mansion for Tsvangirai, etc. In return MDC leaders kicked all the reforms out of the window. Without doubt, MDC leaders’ failure to get even one reform implemented has been the greatest disappointment and surprise of the last two decades.

When SADC leaders realised that MDC leaders had failed to implement even one reform, they wanted the 2013 elections postponed and told MDC leaders why. “If you take part in next month’s elections, you will lose,” the warned Tsvangirai and company to their face. “The elections are done!”

Once  again, MDC leaders ignored the warning. I, for one, was not surprise! MDC leaders thought they had the numbers on their side. “No Zanu PF vote rigging shenanigans would defeat them!” Tsvangirai later admitted, after the party was trounced by the Zanu PF vote rigging juggernaut in the 2013 elections.

After Zanu PF rigged the 2013 elections one thought that MDC leaders like Tendai Biti must have finally learned their lesson - the sheer futility of holding elections without implementing the reforms first. Of course, one was both surprised and disappointed to see that MDC leaders were, once again, going to contest these elections with no reforms in place.

Biti’s appeal to Mnangagwa and Chiwenga not “to steal these elections” just as surprising as it is disappointing! Biti is appealing to the ring leaders of last November’s military coup; if they had no qualms staging a coup it is naïve to even believe for one split second they will feel any guilt about rigging the elections, especial after 38 years of rigging the elections.

Besides, both Mnangagwa and Chiwenga will be painfully aware that this year’s elections, are for all intent and purposes, a referendum on last November’s coup. Whilst Chamisa is on public record saying his MDC government will not investigate any Zanu PF leaders for their past wrong doings. “I will not drive the vehicle Zimbabwe looking in the rear-view mirror!” he said on BBC Hardtalk programme. It is quite possible that the MDC government will ignore everything else but not the November coup, especially given the increased influence of Mugabe and his NPF party in MDC.

If ED and his Zanu PF junta had been under pressure to rig elections in the past, well that pressure has soared into the stratosphere! Tendai Biti and his MDC friends are asking the nation to participate in the 30 July 2018 elections, elections Zanu PF are more determined than ever to rig; with our finger and toes crossed hoping against hope that Zanu PF will rig the vote and lose the elections! The real big surprise this time is that there are some Zimbabweans out there crazy enough to believe this nonsense!

Ever since the 2008 elections when Zanu PF showed that the party’s vote rigging power gives the party the veto and guaranteed landslide victory; it has been pointless taking part in any elections without first implementing the reforms. Sadly, all efforts to get MDC leaders to boycott these flawed elections to force the implementation of reforms have fallen on deaf ears.

The only way forward for the ordinary Zimbabweans is to make it very clear that we did not approve these elections going ahead with no reforms in place. Our demand is for the elections to be declared null and void to facilitate the appointment of an interim administration that will be tasked to implement the raft of reforms agreed at the onset of the 2008 GNU.

Mr Tendai Biti, the destiny of a nation cannot and must never again be at the mercy of the whims of corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging thugs like Mugabe, Mnangagwa, Chiwenga or their naïve, corrupt and incompetent acolytes like Tsvangirai, Chamisa and yourself! This nation will implement the reforms and guarantee the rule of law, holding of free and fair elections and freedoms and human rights of all Zimbabweans!

  1. 40 years ago ED was 35 years and and some of the Zanu PF leaders were even younger than that. If age counted then why are we in this mess today?

If we are going to elect anyone then it must be because of what he/she is offering to take the nation forward and not because of their age, gender, race, etc. This obsession with age is proof of one's inability to focus on what really matters and focus instead on the trivial matters.

It was former US First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, who said "Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people."

If we cannot get our heads round the reality that age has nothing to do with whether one is a good leader or not then we have not even reached the point of being "small minds"! It is little wonder the country is in a real big mess and, what is more, has no chance of ever getting out!

Zimbabwe is being dragging into another meaningless elections because Chamisa and his MDC friends failed to implement the democratic reforms when they had the golden opportunity to do so. MDC are unwitting giving Zanu PF the smoke screen that will help them get away with yet another rigged elections. So much for the youthful Chamisa!

  2. "Mnangagwa are you tired of stealing elections?" What an idiotic question!

"Zanu PF ichatonga! Igotonga!" (Zanu PF will rule! And rule!) ED has said many times. Our village idiot, Mr Tendai Biti, might as well ask: "Mnangagwa are you tired of ruling?"

Even after being in power for 37 years, Mugabe did not want to give up power and the influence and wealth it brought. Mnangagwa has just moving into State House after 37 years of waiting and after 8 months you ask him if he is now tired?

The people of Zimbabwe have a right to free, fair and credible elections; this is a fundamental and an inalienable right and not a privilege to be bargained over like mango at the market.

It is sheer madness that the nation is being dragged into an elections process knowing fully well that Zanu PF has rigged elections in the past and nothing has been done to stop the regime doing the same again this year. We are going to the polls on 30 July hoping that Mnangagwa and Chiwenga will be "tired of stealing elections!"

SADC and the whole international community must please take note; MDC leaders are corrupt, incompetent and foolish, they do not represent the views or interests of the ordinary Zimbabweans! They have lost all political credibility, ignore them!

We, the long suffering people of Zimbabwe, want these flawed and illegal elections declared null and void!

Listen, Tendai Biti and company had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms which would have stopped Zanu PF stealing elections during the GNU. Why did they fail to implement even one reform? Instead of implementing the reforms MDC leaders were tripping over each other for the honour to praise Mugabe to the high heavens.

"Mugabe in unflappable! He is the fountain of wisdom! He is the father of the nation!" sung Biti.

The tyrant has complete destroyed Zimbabwe's economy forcing unemployment to soar to dizzying heights of 90%, basic services such as clean running water and health care have all but collapsed, ¾ of our people are living in abject poverty, etc., etc. Where is the fountain of wisdom in that?

Some father of the nation he has turned out to be given he has murdered over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans to create and retain this de facto one-party cum one-man dictatorship.

Zimbabwe is in this political and economic mess because of Zanu PF, that is a fact. But it is also a fact that MDC leaders have had many opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and they wasted them all because they have proven to be corrupt and incompetent.

The failure by some people to see that MDC leaders like Tendai Biti, Chamisa, etc. are corrupt and incompetent is now the most serious impediment to ending the corrupt and autocracy Zanu PF imposed on the nation. Of course, only a fool would agree to go into these elections on idiotic basis that Zanu PF are "tired of stealing elections" especially when they could be certain of that by insisting on implementing the reforms BEFORE the elections!

  4. Senator David Coltart has expressed concerns over the manner how the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission has tried to argue over the legality of postal voting not being observed by both observers and political parties.

"I have noted how ZEC has tried to argue that the current system of postal voting is lawful. ZEC argues that there is nothing wrong with all police officers and soldiers having to vote collectively under the supervision of their commanding officers, never mind voting in front of their commanding officers," he said.

"The law is governed by sections 74 and 75 of the Electoral Act as read with section 155(1)(c) of the Constitution and 156(a) of the Constitution. Sections 74(2) and (3) state that the postal ballot is to be delivered by "registered post' or "courier" "to the applicant" i.e. the individual voter (in this case police officer or soldier). In other words this is a personal communication - the envelope enclosing the ballots is to be sent direct to the voter at his personal address used when he/she registered as a voter, not to his/her barracks or police station, and certainly not to his/her commanding officer."

Coltart knows that without reforms Zanu PF will rig the elections. He and his MDC friends are taking part in these flawed elections regardless because they are after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF gives away as bait. He acknowledged this point in his recent book.

"The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn't now do the obvious - withdraw from the (2013) elections," he wrote.

"The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility."

Coltart and his fellow MDC friends cannot admit they are not doing the obvious thing of boycotting these flawed elections because of greed. What they are doing here is make a big song and dance about how they are fighting ZEC and Zanu PF to make sure the reforms are implemented. Even now, with weeks before voting day, they still want to keep up the pretence they are winning and the elections will be free and fair.

SADC and the whole international community must know by now that these MDC leaders are corrupt, incompetent and fools who do not represent the views or interests of the ordinary Zimbabweans! They have lost all political credibility and they must be ignored!

What the long suffering people of Zimbabwe want is for these flawed and illegal elections to be declared null and void!

Mugabe is a corrupt and murderous tyrant, still he cannot be blame for MDC's failure to implement even one reforms during the GNU. MDC leaders sold-out; Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office and with the snouts in the feeding trough they forgot about the reforms.

How is it possible that even now with the benefit of hindsight you are still failing to understand that MDC leaders sold-out? One wonders whether you ever will understand what happened!
