"Reform must be 2018 election bedrock," says Gutu and yet will still contest regardless. N Garikai

“A free and fair election is a plebiscite that produces a result that is acceptable to both the victor and the defeated; a result that is legitimate and beyond contestation. Since the year 2000, Zimbabwe has been under the spotlight for holding highly contestable and controversial elections in which the result has almost invariably been challenged and contested. This state of affairs has marred our electoral history and left our political architecture bruised and battered,” wrote Obert Gutu, MDC-T spokesman.

This is just typical nonsense the nation has had to put up with from these MDC morons. Gutu is saying free and fair elections are the bedrock and yet he and his MDC friends failed to implement the reforms during the GNU, contested the 2013 elections with no reforms and are now preparing to contest the 2018 still with no reforms in place.

This is the kind of nonsensical logic one would expect from the cartoon character Homer Simpson. “Alcohol: the cause of and solution to all of life’s problems!” Raising the print in good cheer!

Of course, we know why Obert Gutu and his MDC-T friends contested the 2013 even though they knew the elections were flawed and were warning repeatedly by SADC leaders not take part – they were after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF gives away to the opposition as bait. MDC leaders were aware it was pointless contesting the elections as Zanu PF was blatantly set to rig the vote as Senator David Coltart has since admitted in his book.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the elections,” explained Senator Coltart.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

Obert Gutu will talk no end about the need for free and fair elections but when push comes to shove he and his friends in the opposition camp will soon forget about free elections and the tragic consequences of another rig elections as they all join in the scramble for the bait gravy train seats. Even Homer Simpson would never sale the house to buy beer which is what Obert Gutu and friends are doing here!

MDC leaders sold-out in 2013 by contesting flawed elections with no reforms in place. We must stop them and the army of other opposition wannabees selling out again by contesting 2018 with no reforms in place.

Obert Gutu and his MDC friends sold-out big time during the GNU and in 2013 and they got away with it. This time, everyone in Zimbabwe must know what kind of corrupt, incompetent and sell-outs these men and women like Obert Gutu really are.
