“They have to unreservedly and in
the strongest possible terms, condemn corruption, lawlessness, violence,
extortion (even if it's given another name) and self-centeredness, amongst
other things. They must be prepared to observe, respect and defend human and
property rights, people's basic freedoms, diversity of views, the principal of
equality and most importantly, our national constitution. These people must genuinely
yearn for a democratic, peaceful and prosperous Zimbabwe where everybody is
equal before the law, where fairness, accountability, inclusiveness and respect
are virtues,” said Moses Chamboko, just to quote one paragraph.
Could not agree with you more, my
brother! What better way of People First demonstrating their commitment end
corruption, Zanu PF’s culture of political violence, etc. than demanding the
implementation of the GPA democratic reforms.
Throughout the five years of the GNU
Mai Mujuru, Didymus Mutasa and all the other PF leaders joined their former
Zanu PF colleagues in praising President Mugabe in how he had outwitted and
fooled Tsvangirai and the MDC leaders into doing nothing about implementing the
GPA reforms. Everyone in Zanu PF could not believe it when the five years were
up and not even one reform had been implemented. Not one.
Of course Mai Mujuru, Mutasa and the
rest were pleasantly surprise at the easy with which Zanu PF rigged the July 2013
elections and they joined in celebrating Zanu PF’s land-slide victory. Little
did they know that the same undemocratic practices Mugabe had horned over the
years would be used against them a year later!
Accusing Mai Mujuru and others of
plotting to kill him was just a smoke-screen President Mugabe used to hide his
devilish plan to kick her and her supporters out of the party because she was
set to win the democratic vote in the coming elective party congress. Whilst
some people felt sorry for Mai Mujuru, especial from the torrent of abuse she
received at the hands of Grace Mugabe, many people were glad she and her
supporters were getting a taste of the Zanu PF tyranny they had dished out to
the nation so liberally during their Zanu PF days.
Moses Chamboko
is spot on again when he said, “For now, they (PF) ordinarily come across as
not much different from a ZANU PF pig with lipstick.”
There is
nothing so show that the government Mai Mujuru and her PF would form would be
any different from the one they would have formed if they had emerged the
victorious Zanu PF faction in December 2014. In other words PF is Zanu PF
through and through and fight for control of the Zanu PF dictatorship
continues, instead of being between factions within the party the one faction
has assumed a new name PF.
“People First must do a lot of soul
searching, put their act together, grow out of arrogance, dip their red lips in
a very strong detergent, reach out to and establish synergies with other progressive
democratic forces to demonstrate that they are a genuine new entrant to opposition
politics in Zimbabwe,” advised Moses Chamboko.
The only strong detergent powerful
enough to remove the think lipstick that has penetrated deep into the flesh and
with the two-in-one freshener to neutralize the stench of 34 years of
corruption and murder is for PF to demand the implementation of the GPA
reforms.
In the last two weeks Mujuru has met Tendai Biti and Theresa Makone of MDC-T to talk about forming a coalition.
ReplyDeletePF is "Zanu PF pig with lipstick" as Moses Chamboko rightly pointed out but when one is disparate to revive one's sinking political career as Biti and Tsvangirai are bound to see the lipstick and not the pig!
We must never forget that MDC leaders sold-out by failing to get even one democratic reform implemented in five years of the GNU. MDC leaders committed high treason then and what is kissing a pig compared to treason!
We really need to grow up as a nation and accept that our current political system has failed and change it instead of wasting time trying to make it work and recycling the same corrupt and incompetent leaders.
ReplyDeleteThe right to vote does not mean the right to vote for a village idiot; this is the simple message that must be driven into the heads of morons like Mukanya. No one is advocating denying him the right to vote but he must understanding the right comes with it the duty and responsibility to vote wisely and not blindly!
Delete@ Mudhara
ReplyDeleteYou have excellent memory about what President Mugabe and Zanu PF did; yes it is unforgivable that Mugabe failed to hand over power after his defeat in 2008.
You have a notable weakness when it comes to Tsvangirai's short comings. If Tsvangirai knew he was dealing with a tyrant then why did he fail to implement the democratic reforms everyone agreed would end the Mugabe dictatorship. MDC had five years to implement the reforms but failed to get even one reform implemented.
What is really shocking here is that you still want Tsvangirai to be a leader even after he has already proven to be corrupt and incompetent.
We are not getting out of this hell-hole we now find ourselves in by seeing Mugabe as the tyrant he is but turning a blind eye to the equally serious shortcomings of those we expect to remove him. Morons like you are holding back the nation with you criticism of Mugabe tyranny whilst praising corrupt and incompetent opposition leaders to the heaven; this idiotic duplicity cannot be tolerated anymore!
@ Mukanya
ReplyDeleteYou and I both agree that President Mugabe is corrupt, incompetent and a murderous tyrant. We differ when it comes to the opposition.
By failing to get even one democratic reform implemented in five years in the GNU, Tsvang-irai and his MDC friends have proven beyond all reasonable doubt that they are corrupt, in-competent and sell-outs. Their blundering incompetence is not speculation but a confined his-toric fact.
You have not only refused to accept that Tsvangirai is corrupt and incompetent but want to go one step further and want him back as a national leader. We are in serious trouble and we are NOT going to get out of this mess by elections failed leaders! This idiotic duplicity of see the real Mugabe in his tyrannical robes only to turn around and see Tsvangirai, not as the in-competent village idiot he is, but as the great leader you wish him to be; is not going to get us out of this hell.
Tsvangirai has already proven that he is corrupt and incompetent and per se not qualified to lead; period. Why are we then wasting time on him?
What we need is agree on the qualities we should be looking in the men and women who will get us out of this hell and then go out and search for them. You want to recycle corrupt and incompetent individuals like Tsvangirai because you are too lazy, mentally and physically, to search for competent leaders.
It is the lazy morons like you who are holding back the nation because you have your heads stuck in Tsvangirai's backside! No nation can tolerate that and there is only one thing for it, kick the morons in their backside hard and do not stop until they pull their heads out of the behind and take a breath of fresh air.
"You really never attack anyone else and attack ZPF for disguise only!" you complained. So the savage kicks in the bollocks are having an effect! Excellent!
Frankly, there is no difference between a moron with his head stuck in a tyrant Mugabe's backside from one with his head in a village idiot's backside; they are both a serious impedi-ment to the nation's efforts to get out of this hell. You bury your head in someone's; be it Mu-gabe, Tsvangirai, Mujuru, it does not matter; backside and your posture is an irresistible invi-tation for a savage kick in the bollocks. Of course you will get a savage kick. We want a thinking electorate and not sheep who follow blindly!
I agree with Wilbert, you are arguing in a circle Choto.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when people quote a proverb out of context. What has "Matakadya kare havaraidzi mwa-na!" (Stories of great feasting in bygone days will bring no comfort to a hungry child!) to do with implementing the GPA reforms!
There is in fact nothing unique about Zimbabwe's GPA reforms other country like Kenya had to im-plement the same reforms to end their problem of rigged elections. Kenya had a GNU in 2008 they had free, fair and credible elections at the end of it because Raila Odinga, the Tsvangirai of Kenya, was smart enough to implement the reforms.
"Charovedzera, charovedzera gudo rakakwira mawere kwasviba!" is the relevant Shona proverb here. (By using the well-trodden route, the baboon was able to climb the precipice in pitch black darkness!) The baboon had the road-map in his head, he knew each toe-hold and when to jump; so even when he could not see anything and might as well be blind, he still saw the route clearly in his head.
Implementing the GPA reforms is the well-trodden road-map to dismantling an established dictatorship. To abandon this road-map on the grounds that the reforms were proposed in 2008 and therefore must be “matadya kare” is like the baboon abandoning the well-trodden path, the only path in its head, up the precipice in pitch black darkness to go solo! If he makes it to the top then he will blunder straight into a hungry leopard’s den!
