2023 elections will NOT be free but can be next best thing - LAST rigged elections W Mukori

"2023 BRINGS HOPE, DIGNITY AND CHANGE".

"This (2023) year will be that year Zimbabweans become free, happy and prosperous. This time Citizens will WIN BIG and celebrate BIG". Wrote Nelson Chamisa on twitter

If anything is certain, it is that Zanu PF is blatantly rigging the 2023 elections just as the party has rigged past elections. Chamisa and his CCC friends are not blind, of course they know that with not even one democratic reform implemented since the 2018 elections, Zanu PF will rig these elections just as readily as they rigged the 2018, 2013, 2008, etc.

Key CCC leaders like Tendai Biti readily admitted the folly of participating in these flawed elections. “Look, you can't keep on participating in flawed electoral processes that serve to give big benefits to dictators such as Robert Mugabe. Mugabe has perfected the art of winning elections,” Biti told Isaac Mugabi in 2015.

“So, it will be very foolish for the opposition to continue legitimizing these sham elections which don't deliver. This country will go through a serious economic crisis in 2020 caused by Zanu PF. And yet, this is the only country where a government doesn't perform, it is encouraged by a super majority in parliament.

“You can't continue subjecting Zimbabweans to processes where their hopes just get crushed.”

David Coltart, another senior MDC cum CCC leaders concurred with what Biti said but went one step further. He explained why CCC leaders continue to subject Zimbabweans into these flawed election processes only to have their hopes of meaningful democratic change and economic recovery crushed.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2013) elections,” confessed Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends are hell bent on participating in the 2023 elections, knowing fully well that doing so will give Zanu PF legitimacy, “for fear that the other (opposition parties) would remain in the elections, winning seats”; i.e., greed. So, there it is from the horse’s own mouth, MDC/CCC have failed to implement even one reform these last 22 year and are insisting on participating tin flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy because of greed!

Zanu PF is blatantly rigging these elections and for any Zimbabwean to participate in the flawed and illegal process to give the regime legitimacy is not only insane but those doing so knowingly and out of greed, it is high treason.

Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies are rigging the 2023 elections contrary the regime’s sworn promise to uphold the rule of law and guarantee the rights of all Zimbabweans including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country. We cannot stop Zanu PF rigging the elections nor stop the flawed elections going ahead.

Nelson Chamisa and his CCC friends’ claim of winning these flawed elections in just hot air to justify their participation in the flawed process and a smoke screen to hide their greed. We cannot stop CCC participating.

However, what we can do is make sure the whole world knows that without the democratic reforms Zimbabwean elections are flawed and illegal. And that Zanu PF does not get legitimacy from winning rigging elections and CCC does not political credibility from their treasonous greed.

Whilst 2023 elections will not be free, fair and credible they must be the next best thing – the last rigged election. Mark my words and mark them well!

  1. How cn Zimbabwe be free when we cannot achieve the first thing - hold free elections and secure rule of law. Zanu PF is rigging these elections and all Chamisa is hoping for is a share of the spoils of power! Our number one priority is to end this insnity of rigged elections and bad governance!

  2. @ Mbofana

“In a constitutional democracy - as that is what Zimbabwe is supposed to be, on paper at least - there are a plethora of tools at the suffering citizenry's disposal to push for their improved wellbeing, and a dignified livelihood that they all deserve.

Though, regular elections are a central component of this constitutional democracy - as a vital cog in choosing the leaders we want, and rejecting those who have turned our lives into a nightmare - over the past twenty years, this has proven not a very effective weapon for change.

Every election since the turn of the new millennium has been heavily disputed - mostly characterized by allegations of fraud, and unbelievable heinous atrocities against opposition supporters.

This was after the formation of a formidable opposition by Morgan Richard Tsvangirai and his allies in 1999, which proved to be the first real challenge to ZANU PF's grip on power since the country's independence in 1980As we begin a new year, 2023, with another crucial election slated for around August or September - why should anyone expect a different outcome than has been the norm since 2000?

On what basis can Zimbabweans, especially the millions who have had enough of the endless harrowing daily struggles of poverty, seriously dream of change in 2023 - when elections are still going to be conducted under the same conditions as those of the past twenty three years?

Why are we - as the ones enduring the brunt of ZANU PF disgraceful misrule, oppression, and large-scale looting of our national resources - apparently not ready to fully utilize other tools in our constitutional democracy toolbox, in pushing for meaningful reforms that would guarantee truly peaceful free, fair and credible elections?

What logic is there in expecting to repeat the same thing, but expecting a different outcome?

Is this not what Albert Einstein is alleged to have ascribed to Insanity?
Yet, for some reasons I still fail to grasp, Zimbabweans appear afraid of even those.

Surely, what is there to fear by merely staying at home, as a form of protest?

What is there to be terrified about when we do not go anywhere - possibly, spending the day in quality time with our families - yet, at the same time, sending a very unequivocal message to those in power that we have had enough, and we demand real democratic, electoral and security sector reforms?

In other countries, national strikes, shutdowns and stay aways are a most effective method of protest - when the entire country is temporarily brought to a standstill, until the people's demands are heard and fulfilled.

This action is strictly about pressuring the regime for that change we want - and, not, in any way, to push for illegal regime change.”
Another thought-provoking article, thank you sir.
I will take issue with your description of Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC as “formidable opposition”. They have been on the political stage for 22 years, 5 of which in the GNU, and yet have failed to bring about even one democratic change. Not one! Zimbabwe is stuck with the dysfunctional dictatorship because MDC sold out big time by failing to implement reforms and then by insisting in participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for selfish personal gain.
I total agree with you that Zanu PF is set to rig the 2023 elections and the better solution is to stay at home and have absolutely nothing to do with this flawed and illegal process. But guess who is encouraging people to participate? Nelson Chamisa and co.! They are telling the people lies that CCC will win the rigged elections only to justify their hell-bent resolve to participate. They are after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF is giving away as bait. And you call CCC a “formidable opposition”!

  3. In June 2013 SADC leaders called for the coming Zimbabwean elections to be postponed until democratic reforms were implemented.

“In 2013 the Maputo Summit, in June 2013, before the elections, the Maputo Summit was all about having the elections postponed – the SADC summit. I went there,” Dr Ibbo Mandaza told Journalist Violet Gonda.

“I was there at the Summit and Mugabe pretended to agree to a postponement of the elections. If you recall, the postponement was based on the need to reform at least electoral laws.

“And after that Summit, Morgan Tsvangirai, Tendai Biti, Welshman Ncube, all of them were called to a separate meeting by the Heads of State of SADC in the absence of Mugabe, that same evening. And they were told; I was sitting there outside the room with Mac Maharaj; they were told ‘if you go into elections next month, you are going to lose; the elections are done’.”

It should be noted that MDC had failed to implement even one reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and this was the golden opportunity for them to redeem themselves. Sadly, that was not to be because MDC leaders ignored the SADC leaders' warning because of greed.

Even now nearly ten years after SADC leaders' warning MDC/CCC continue to defy their own rational and do the "obvious" thing - stop participating in an election process so flawed they cannot win only to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

Of course, Chamisa's claim that CCC will win big is just hot air; only the naive, gullible and I dare say desperate people will believe this nonsense. The challenge is to stop this insanity and save the nation from the hell of rigged elections and bad governance.

"Our hope is not in the New Year , but in the One who makes all things new. If he is able to give us a New Year he then can't fail Zimbabweans to give them a New Great Zimbabwe with jobs and development. A New Great Zimbabwe is what we will pray for and He will give us wisdom and courage to vote wisely. Behold The New !! Mwari haanganyadzise vanotaura chokwadi who then doesn't know that Zimbabweans are suffering because of poor, old, tired, useless, valueless and directionless Zanu PF leadership. We all want The New !! Chamisa and CCC are the New. Yellow is the new Political colour.”
Chitando, you, Chamisa and the other CCC members must stop this idiotic inference of your party’s stupidity with God. God is not in any of MDC/CCC’s foolishness, not now or in the past. God was not involved in you lot’s failure to implement even one reform during the GNU nor is He involved in your participation in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.
It is foolish enough that you are dragging the nation into yet another utterly meaningless election for the sake of a few gravy train seats. Stop all this blasphemy by evoking the name of the Lord to give you idiotic ideas credence!
CCC is no more “new” than Mnangagwa’s regime is “a second republic”. The majority of CCC’s leaders are the same corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent MDC leaders who failed to implement even one reform in five years of the GNU when the party had the golden opportunity to do so. Since the GNU debacle they have participated in flawed elections out of greed and they are participating in these 2023 elections for the same reasons, corruption and greed, the rebranding from MDC to CCC has not change that!

“Beitbridge Border Post Officials Intercept Bernard Mnangagwa’s Trucks Loaded With Lithium Ore
    pindula.co.zwDec 31, 2022 8:21 PM
Beitbridge Border Post officials Friday intercepted a consignment of lithium ore on three haulage trucks belonging to one Bernard Tafadzwa Mnangagwa.”
The wholesale looting has gone from diamonds to gold, to platinum and now lithium. The real tragedy is that the country is getting very little from the looting as the locals get a fraction of the true value of these resources. To the lithium miner US$10 for a tonne of lithium ore is a fortune given he/she was earning US$2 per day as a vendor. A tonne of Lithium carbonate is selling for US$ 59 000!
Mnangagwa has allowed looting to increase by leaps and bounds, just like Mugabe he will do anything to retain power, the looters are helping him rig the 2023 elections. They are all keen to see Zanu PF remain in power so that they, in turn, can continue looting!

  6. Every time one talked about the MDC/CCC is hell-bent on participating in these flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the sake of a few gravy train seats, some people have no idea what these gravy train seats entail. Well, the Political Party Finance (Act) pay cheque is one of the gravy train benefits. Zanu PF is getting Z$ 985m and MDC Z$ 422m tax free too!

  7. Is Mugabe's Blue Roof mansion, that sprawling pantheon to insatiable greed and absolute power, fake too? Of course, it is fake how else would you blame sanctions for Zimbabwe's economic meltdown if you accept the looting of diamonds, gold to build sprawling mansions, buy 45 gold watches, etc. are true!

    “Why always Chamisa my brother?”
Why am I holding Chamisa to account? Because to them who were entrusted with great power and authority much is expected. Because his insisting on participating in these 2023 flawed elections has the immediate consequence of giving Zanu PF legitimacy and thus perpetuate the dictatorship.
You are not denying that MDC/CCC sold out and are selling out. What you cannot stomach is to see Chamisa and co. held to account by anyone because, the idiot that you are, believe Chamisa and co. are demigods who should never be held to account by mere mortals. I do not subscribe to such foolish notion and never will! And that is why I dismiss village idiots like with the contempt they rightly deserve!

  9. Mugabe has corrupted the country's institutions by bribing the senior staff with the gravy train lifestyles so that they serve him and his agenda of retaining power at all costs. The country's security top brass were all coerced to support the dictatorship through the Joint Operation Command, a Junta, created to help impose the Zanu PF dictatorship.

The truth is Zimbabwe's security service were not always corrupt and more significantly not everyone is corrupt because, other than the top brass the rest are feeling the ill effect of the economic meltdown and therefore would want to see the country get out of the mess.
