Zanu PF anti-western rhetoric is but a tacit admission they are not masters in their own home! Nomusa Garikai

Zimbabwe gain her independence back in 1980, marking the end of white colonial rule. But to listen to the anti-Western rhetoric from the country’s ruling elite one would be forgiven to believe the whites are calling all the shots.

The truth is we got rid of the West colonial masters only to replace them with the new Chinese and Russian masters. The Chinese and Russians supplied the arms with which to fight our western colonial oppressors. They did not supply the arms out of love for freedom, liberty and justice. They have stayed on to become the independent African countries’ new masters.

Blacks have never been masters of their own destiny and as one would expect from those with no talent have become masters at finding others to blame for our own shortcomings.

“Finally, the servant who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Master, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So, I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what belongs to you.’

‘You wicked, lazy servant!’ replied his master. ‘You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed. Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received it back with interest. Therefore take the talent from him and give it to the one who has ten talents. For everyone who has will be given more, and he will have an abundance. But the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

Matthew 25: 25 to 29.

If there is one passage in Bible every black African must learn by heart, this is it. If we focused on being masters of our own destiny and in making the most of what we have; we would accomplish a lot more and waste so much time and energy anti-west rhetoric just to hide our incompetence!

“l used to disagree with u but at this juncture CCC n colleagues strategy is not working that being said l now say lets take up arms n or its High time Chamisa comes out n say we are not going to vote otherwise tinofa isu nevana vedu tiri marombe munyika yehuchi nemkaka.”

You take up arms because you did not have the common sense to force MDC leaders to implement the democratic reforms nor the courage to stop them participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy! You take up arms as the last resort when everything else has failed.

Do not participate in these flawed elections and you will starve Zanu PF of political legitimacy!

“Imperialism, Neo-colonialism, and the lie of Democracy are the big elephant in the room. The people are the pawns or proxies as it were manipulated into fighting someone’s war. This is not our war, we are fighting someone’s war, and all the time they are in the shadows, tinkling with the circumstances all of which are manufactured and are turned into a giant mole hill and are dragged for maximum exposure, exploiting divisions, confusions so they are passed off as genuine grievances.
We watch as they destabilise and destroy other countries and we all of one consensus that indeed they played them dirty. Yet when it comes to our situation we refuse to point and blame it on the West as the main protagonists. The degradation of our society is as a result of a prolonged and sustained assault yet the hear-no-evil see-no-evil tactic is the main tactic. Instead distractions, digressions and deflections are being employed to absolve the West from taking the main blame for our plight. In the end truth will prevail. Some people are only suffering to push the cause of the people behind the scenes. The whiteman is waiting in the wings to dictate terms. He is in control in South Africa, now in Zambia etc.”

You have clearly fallen in the trap of blaming others, especially the west, for all your shortcomings. Do something to end the corruptions and Africa will prosper!

  3. Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) women’s wing on Wednesday last week donated an assortment of detergents and fruits to staff and patients at Chiredzi District Hospital.
Speaking after the donation, ZCC Chiredzi vice-chairperson Thandiwe Sozayaphi said the donation complements Government’s efforts to have a clean and safe hospital. Sozayaphi further said they decided to donate detergents because the hospital is struggling to get them and has been operating with limited resources for some time.

Zimbabwe’s basic services such as health care and education have all but collapsed. The pass rate at many schools in the rural areas has been 3% or less for years now. 50% of our children are receiving a substandard quality of education. What kind of citizens will they make? What kind of future will the nation have?

The root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic and political mess is the country chronic problem of rigged elections and bad governance. It is high time all Zimbabweans focus on root cause, the elephant in the room, and stop pretending the problem will go way.

  4. Charged Moyo on Twitter this Thursday; "Since #CCC is ‘structureless' and constitution-less its leaders, who ironically are a structure, are using silence as a strategy to get its members to support unilateral and illegal Western sanctions, demonise land reform and revere Ian Smith and, by extension, Cecil Rhodes!

"The consequence of #CCC‘s refusal to be transparent about its structures is that the party has become deviant; effectively operating as a secret society, and employing political delinquency, such as the glorification of Ian Smith by its supporters, as a political strategy!"

The need for CCC to have a constitution, have party structures, to hold party congress, etc. is all above CCC embracing good democratic practices and accepting the need to ensure the ordinary Zimbabweans have a meaningful role is charting Zimbabwe’s future. One of the reasons why the country is in this mess is four decades of Zanu PF tyrannical rule.

We must ignore the dramatization of the issue by the likes of Professor Jonathan Moyo, it is farfetched to suggest the failure to produce a constitution is proof CCC is “glorifying Ian Smith”!

  5. Addressing hundreds of ruling party supporters at Bata Shoe Company in Gweru, Midlands province yesterday, Mnangagwa said: "We will never allow for puppets to rule this country."

He then turned his anger on Western countries for imposing sanctions on Zimbabwe, saying: "They sanctioned us because we want to determine our own destiny. Germany, Japan, France and other Western countries are building their own countries. Can we, therefore, be stupid to have foreigners determine the development of our country? Yes, they can come with investments, but with no strings attached."

Zanu PF believes it alone has the divine right to govern the country.

“Zanu PF ichatonga, ichingotonga! Imi muchingo hukura, nokuhukura!” (Zanu PF will rule, and rule! Whilst you (calling for democratic reforms and free elections) bark, and bark!) Was the first thing Emmerson Mnangagwa told his Zanu PF cronies or his return to Zimbabwe following the November 2017 military coup that ended Robert Mugabe’s rule.

Zanu PF has a high powered, in terms of quantity at least, in Rwanda lobbying for the country to be readmitted into the Commonwealth. However back home the regime is making is crystal clear only Zanu PF has the divine right to rule – forget the nonsense about free and fair elections.

Zimbabwe had the golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms and thus end the Zanu PF dictatorship during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. Sadly, the opportunity was wasted, MDC leaders to whom the task of implementing reforms was entrusted turned out to be corrupt and helplessly incompetent. It would be a major political coup, second only to the November 2017 military coup, if Zanu PF can bamboozle the Commonwealth nations into readmitting the regime even as it continues to give everyone the middle finger salute at every turn!

  6. “Finally, the servant who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Master, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So, I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what belongs to you.’
We, in Africa in general and in Zimbabwe in particular, can rightly say we have received thousands if not hundreds of thousands of talents when many others have but one talent. We have a great abundance of supportable land and climate to grow all our food and are endowed with mineral and other resources. And yet Africa continues to be ravished by poverty and Zimbabwe has earned the reputation of having been the breadbasket of the region before independence to become the basket case failed state after independence.
Instead of our vast wealth being a blessing and working to the good of all Zimbabweans, it become our curse. The Zanu PF ruling elite, their cronies and their Chinese handlers have creamed off the fortune from the diamonds, gold and other looted resources making them filthy rich at the expense of the rest of the population who have languished in abject poverty. The tragedy is Zanu PF and its operatives are now using the looted wealth to ensure they stay in power at all cost.
Zanu PF and its operatives will never allow the country to hold free and fair elections. The party has corrupted all the state institutions including the opposition resulting in the political paralysis.
In true fashion of the “wicked and lazy servant”, Zanu PF have found a scapegoat to blame for the millions living in abject poverty – the west. The 2001 sanctions were God-send, as far as the regime was concerned!
Zimbabwe is one of the richly endowed nations on earth, we have everything except competent leaders and the electorate with at least the common sense to realise the sheer stupidity of participating in rigged elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy especially after 42 years of rigged elections!

  7. Zimbabwe was booted out of Commonwealth for failing to hold free and fair elections. It will be very sad day is the organisation was to be bamboozled into lowering the election standards to accommodate Zimbabwe! Indeed, this would be such an insult to very thinking Zimbabwean, we will be left with no opinion but to pull the country out of the Commonwealth a.s.a.p.

“Big waste of time to seek readmission to this colonial club. Kwadzino rohwa matumbu ndo kwadzinomhanyira. We will always remain prisoners of the Stockholm syndrome.”
At least the Commonwealth has had the guts to hold Zanu PF to account for failing to hold free, fair and credible elections unlike other clubs like SADC or the AU which have repeated turned blind eye except for the one occasion in 2008! Given the choice of SADC, AU or the myriad of other African bodies, I would chose Commonwealth any day.
The African bodies have become the ruling elite’s exclusive clubs, where they leaders will rally to support each other at the expense of justice and long-suffering common people. The leaders have brain washed most blacks into placing black patriotism above reason, truth and even black suffering and lives!
“Stockholm syndrome!” So what do you call supporting SADC when the regional body is the one endorsing Zanu PF rigged elections and thus perpetuating the dictatorship?

“That is very true spot on. Chamisa thinks we are so desperate not to see his empty promises. If he was anywhere genuine that he loves this country he should tell his friends the British and Americans that the Zimbabwean populace which is wallowing in abject poverty did nothing wrong to them to warrant sanctions.”
I must say, I am surprise that there is still anyone out there who still believes that the Americans, British or anyone with half a brain would still would so stupid as to bother to listen to Chamisa on anything. The west did not need corrupt, incompetent and indecisive MDC leaders to help them decide to impose sanctions on Zimbabwe.
Sanctions have become scapegoat behind which the regime has hidden the mismanagement and corruption – the real causes of the country’s economic mess. It is shocking that even now with the 40 years of looting and tyranny there are some so naïve and gullible they still believe the regime’s hen’s teeth nonsense! No wonder the country is in a real mess!
The people of Zimbabwe have done nothing to warrant the tyrannical oppression from Zanu PF. But what would you know of such matters, you hardly know your left hand from right!

“Why do spouses of Zimbabwe ruling elite not use their influence to stand for suffering citizens against oppressive regime?”
Well I can just image Grace Mugabe telling her late husband “Baba you should not be spending US$2 billion building this Blue Roof mansion and I should get rid of all those Gucci shoes and bags!” That would have been so shocking even the flies would have dropped dead from the shock wave!
Grace Mugabe used her influence to demand more wealth and political power for herself, her children and those who would help her climb the greasy pole of absolute power. She did not give damn about the ordinary people’s suffering and deaths especially once she had tasted absolute power herself.
Look at what happened to Morgan Tsvangirai, Nelson Chamisa and the rest of the MDC leaders when they took their seats on the gravy train during the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They were not enjoying absolute power but still enough to make them forget implementing the reforms.
“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” (MDC leaders have learned to enjoy the spoils of power, they will not rock the boat!) boasted Zanu PF cronies when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing the reforms during the GNU.
If Mnangagwa’s wife cared about ending the suffering of Zimbabweans, she will be telling her husband to implement the democratic reforms and hold free and fair elections. Of course, she knows that Zanu PF has rigged elections in the past and is rigging the 2023 elections. She will never ever think of such a thing much less say it out otherwise the crocodile jaws of her husband will snap shut on her!

  11. Nothing exemplifies Zimbabweans’ failure to be masters of our own ship than the country’s fall from being the breadbasket of the region during white rule to the basket case failed state. Zimbabwe has the rich agricultural land and excellence weather to have a prosperous agricultural sector.
Where others have had to resort to human ingenuity to turn deserts into green orchards. “Plant a broom stick in Zimbabwe and you will have a fruit tree!” is how someone has described the country. The very fact that Zimbabweans are starving in what is for all practical purposes the garden of Eden is damning testimonial to independent Zimbabwe’s failure to govern ourselves.
The Zanu PF ruling elite have seized the white owned farms for themselves but have failed to maintain the land’s productivity. Yes, even in the Garden of Eden so productive “plant a broomstick and you will have a fruit tree” still needs someone to plant the broomstick!
It comes as no surprise that Zanu PF leaders and their entourage of hangers on and apologists are blaming the west for the country’s economic and political mess including the country’s collapsed agricultural sector, farfetched as it is. Zanu PF leaders and their cronies have not only filed to plant the proverbial broomstick, they have cut down the fruit trees they inherited in their wastefulness and incompetence. Western sanctions have nothing to do with Zimbabwe’s collapsed agricultural sector.
Blaming the West for Zimbabwe’s economic and political mess is second nature to the lazy and wicked; they have to blame others else for the consequences of their laziness and wickedness. That we, in Zimbabwe should find ourselves sinking deeper and faster into the abyss should come as little surprise, Zanu PF, is spending more time, sweat and vast resources in selling the falsehood of sanctions destroying the country whilst doing nothing to address the real causes – mismanagement, corruption and tyrannical oppression.
It does not help when the overwhelming majority of Zimbabweans are naïve and gullible they believe whatever they are told; they believe sanctions are destroying the country with not one iota of evidence. There is evidence of wholesale looting and still they will not believe their own eyes that corruption and mismanagement are the cancers destroying the nation.

  12. Surprise Mnangagwa defenders included Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) secretary general, Charlton Hwende, who refused, out-rightly, to support the argument that Smith was better.

Moyo said no political party can piss on the liberation struggle by glorifying Ian Smith for whatever reason, and expect a political dividend from that.

"I know I am a sinner and thus an imperfect human being; but zvisinei ndinopika naMwari kuti no person & no political party can piss on the liberation struggle by glorifying Ian Smith for whatever reason, and expect a political dividend from that. Izvo hazvigoni kana zvikaita sei!"

"Hamadzangu it is absurd to say "Ian Smith was better"; knowing he was not, but just as a dig on ruling authorities in Zim; it's like having the opposition in Germany or Israel saying Hitler was better, only as a dig on ruling authorities in those countries. Aiwa, iyo hayitambike!"

True, no one should say “Ian Smith was better” knowing he was not for whatever reasons. We must learn to respect the truth. By the same token, no one should deny Ian Smith was better than Zanu PF knowing that was indeed the case.

Looking at the economy, the sorry state of the Zimbabwe economy compared to that in 1980 speaks volumes! On the political front the blacks earned the right to vote after independence but right they have never had any meaningful opportunity to exercise!

The nation will record the performance of Ian Smith, Zanu PF, the MDC, etc. based on historic facts without fer or favour. I certainly hope the historic record will be true and accurate and will not be influence by the posturing of likes of Professor Jonathan Moyo.

  13. "The leaders of the Health associations after considering the plight of the public, have resolved to temporarily adjourn the industrial action and request the healthcare workers to resume service," read the statement.

"This has been done to prevent any further loss of life.
This is just kicking the can down the road. Indeed, one can go so far as to say these workers have run out of road along time ago!
President Mnangagwa was cocksure his “Zimbabwe is open for business!” was going to revive the country’s economic fortunes. When that failed his number one priority has been to stop inflation soaring to the 2008 levels at all cost by cutting costs and throwing overboard all those the regime can throw overboard and get away with it. And so the regime has cut spending on roads, building, etc. and has thrown overboard teachers, nurses and other civil servants with no political muscle to fight back.
As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state, there will be no meaningful economic recovery and no money to pay civil servants meaningful living wages.

Mr Wilbert Mukori what you must sense carefully is that ZPRA/ZANLA are the key enemies the USA Government and Allies in the Western Governments.
So these Former Settlers are sabotaging Zimbabwean Economy to topple The Gorilla Government in Zimbabwe. .These Western Governments are doing this Grudgingly because ZNLWVA seized Land back to its rightful owners. .

No one is disputing that Zanu PF seized the land and gave it “back to the rightful owners”, according to you. What you have failed to explain is why the country has fallen from being the breadbasket of the region to the basket case failed state that cannot even feed its own people and yet the country is, for all practical purposes the Garden of Eden!
As for the west fighting Zimbabwe, how long has this war been raging on? This is just shadow boxing no different from the imaginary sanctions being the root cause of Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown. The lazy and wick will always have a dozen scapegoats to blame for their failures and for good measure will have two dozen alibis to back their hen’s teeth nonsense. Sadly, there are many out there who are shallow, thick and slow who are easily impressed and fooled.

  15. Outgoing secretary for transport and social welfare Marben Nkatazo told delegates 31 Zupco buses were hired to ferry delegates from across the country before laying out the benefits the delegates got for attending the conference.

"His Excellency, we had 31 Zupco buses which ferried people.

"We only had one challenge when the Manicaland bus had a breakdown," Nkatazo said.

"We have cash points for politburo members and central committee members, who are going to get allowances and coupons.

"Members are booked in hotels, lodges, and higher tertiary institutions."

Zanu-PF also funded foreign guests from sister parties in the region by paying for their accommodation, air-tickets and food."

In his closing remarks, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said Zanu-PF was "roaring like a lion" ahead of next year's elections where he would be seeking a second full term.

Zanu PF has given up the fight of winning the democratic support of the people by delivering on those things such as economic prosperity, peace and justice because the party failed to deliver the economic prosperity, etc. Zanu PF’s policy of political patronage allowed the ruling elite to loot and waste resources in return for their blind loyalty to the Zanu PF dictatorship has certainly helped the party to stay in power these last 42 years and counting but at the cost of destroying the economic and imposing the dictatorship.

When Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is open for business!” failed to revive the economy he gave up trying to win the support of the Zimbabwe public to revert to the only tried and tested pampering Zanu PF ruling elite and hire the crowd for each occasion! The country has no money to pay for basic services such as education and health car; they have all but completely collapsed; but the party has money to pay village heads and other traditional leaders generous salaries and to spoil party leaders!

It has been said that Zanu PF would rather burn the country to ashes than let anyone else rule! Well, this is precisely what the regime is doing; the country is in total economic ruins. And what future does the nation have when generations of Zimbabweans have been denied basic education?

Zanu PF is rigging these elections and by participating CCC is only giving Zanu PF legitimacy! The people have risked all to elect Chamisa and company into power on the understanding they would implement the democratic reforms and end the dictatorship. They have failed to implement even one reform in 22 years, 5 of which in the GNU. Worse still MDC/CCC are now the ones giving Zanu PF legitimacy. People must wake up to the reality Chamisa and company re no working for Zanu PF and not the people!
