100k jabs/day promised and to deliver herd immunity by 2021, 4k or 4% availed delaying to 2028 W Mukori

In July 2021 the Zanu PF regime promised to administer 100 000 covid 19 vaccine jabs per day and in the remaining 180 days of that year would have delivered 18 million jabs, two jabs each to the target 10 million herd immunity. However, with the reduced 4 000 jabs per day or 1.6 million per year it is going to take much longer to hit the 10 million target.

To date 6.28 million, 4.62 million and 0.86 million have received the first, second and third vaccine jabs in Zimbabwe respectively according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health. And so, it will take six years to June 2028 to finally get 10 million vaccinated with two jabs.

As we know the times have moved on, three jabs are now required instead of two. It will take a further six years from 2028 to 2035 to have the three jabs on the 10 million target herd immunity at the present rate of 4 000 jabs per day!

Many countries in the developed countries have 80% plus of their target herd immunised with three jabs, giving them the confidence to lift most of the covid 19 restrictions that had caused so much human suffering and economic disruption.

There signs are, mankind will have to live with corona virus for decades to come, at least, or be it a significant segment of the population will need annual booster vaccination jabs as is the case with the common flu, for example.

Until Zimbabwe reach the target 10 million with three jabs, the country will continue to live with covid 19 hanging over our heads like "the sword of Damocles". There will be new corona virus outbreaks and, with each outbreak, many of the covid 19 restrictions will return, many of the people without the protection of the three jabs will catch the virus become seriously ill and many will die.

Officially, 5 549 Zimbabweans have died of corona virus since March 2020 when Zororo Makamba died, the first covid 19 death in Zimbabwe. Many people do not believe the official figure; for one thing the country’s covid 19 testing regime has been wilfully inadequate.

The true figure is 1 million cases and 25 000 deaths, or ¼ those of South Africa which are 3.99 million cases and 101 745 deaths respectively. Zimbabwe’s population of roughly ¼ that of S A and the two countries’ covid 19 cases have mirrored that of the other given the heavy human traffic between the two countries throughout the covid 19 years.  S A’s covid 19 test regime has been more diligent are therefore the figures are more reliable.

Indeed, one would expect Zimbabwe’s covid 19 figures to be much worse than just being ¼ those of our southern neighbour given our health care service is in sorry state and by failing to test, trace and track Zimbabwe would have helped the virus spread far and wide, making our situation even worse!

Zimbabwe is losing a staggering US$ 1.2 billion per year to gold smugglers alone, enough to have funded and delivered the 100 000 covid 19 vaccines jabs per day meeting the nation’s herd immunity target by December 2021. To have this covid 19 threat, "the sword of Damocles", hangover our heads for another six years before we can reach the two relative safety of two jabs is unbearable particularly when the delay is because of the insatiable greed of few!

The grim ripper, corona virus, has six more years to add to Zimbabwe’s estimated 25 000 covid 19 death toll thanks to Zanu PF’s failure to deliver own its promise to stamp out corruption and deliver 100 000 vaccine jabs per day. As it is the regime is delivering a mere 4 000 jabs per day or 4% of what promised because it has all but failed to stamp out corruption!

  1. Addressing scores of mourners at the burial of the late constitutional law expert and academic Alex Magaisa in Mangisi Village, Chikomba district in Wedza, Mashonaland East province, Chamisa (44) said the heavens have endorsed him.

Moyo took issues with the statement and wrote, "Chamisa says heavens have endorsed him to lead, "I'm going to lead, no doubt about that, the heavens have endorsed me".

"Zim political discourse is something else. Even God is a voter!," concluded Moyo.

Did God endorse MDC’s decision not to implement even one reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU or was that the work of “Artful Dodger” Robert Mugabe? He bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office and they forgot about the reforms for five years!

Did God endorse Chamisa’s “MDC has stringent measures to stop Zanu PF rigging the 2018 elections!” As we know none of the measures worked and Chamisa was in Court asking the judges to either declare him the winner or else confirm the elections were rigged.

The sheer stupidity of the man beggars belief – he knows the that Zanu PF is blatantly rigging the elections; he agrees to participate on the basis he must be declared the winner regardless how flawed and illegal the process happened to be! He even has the temerity to drag God Almighty into his hare brain schemes! And, to crown it all many of his wildebeest herd followers believe God endorsed him!

  2. Moyo however described politics as a sin, arguing Chamisa should not put God into his political maneuvers but carry its weight alone.
“When it comes to politics, God is out of it. Unlike religion which is divine, politics is sin; whatever your religion, you sin alone; and so you must carry your own cross!” said Moyo.
Moyo’s relationship with the opposition outfit turned frosty after revelations by NewZimbabwe.com, some leaders within CCC were sceptical about working with him.
They argued he was prone to outbursts and could easily publicise some of their inner discussions once their relationship turned sour.

Of course, Moyo is right on one thing – God is NOT in any of Chamisa’s corrupt and idiotic political blundering!

  3. Zimbabwe continues to reap economic dividends from its engagement and re-engagement drive, with French President Emmanuel Macron facilitating the rehabilitation and upgrading of the historic Great Zimbabwe Monument in a €3 million deal which President Mnangagwa yesterday hailed as a game-changer in the country's quest to propel its tourism industry.

President Mnangagwa said he was excited by the desire of the French government to deepen bilateral relations with Zimbabwe, particularly in the area of cultural heritage and monuments.

He said this at the iconic monument while delivering his keynote address during the launch of the Great Zimbabwe Development Project to rehabilitate and conserve the World Heritage Site.

The EU Election Observer Mission condemned Zimbabwe’s 2018 elections for failing to meet “international standards”. The team made recommendations which the Zimbabwe government has not even implemented one token reform. There will be no meaningful re-engagement with the EU or the free world until the democratic reforms are implemented and there is rule of law in Zimbabwe.

  4. Imagine Smith, ED, Chamisa in the same room, and you’ll understand why Mnangagwa needs to and can only be removed today not in 2023. Chamisa: 2 thirds majority in parliament in 2023, Smith: not in a thousand years, ED: Election time is killing time, because the majority are corpses.

The Zanu PF dictatorship should have been removed from office by 2013 at the very latest if MDC leaders had not been so breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent. They failed to implement even one democratic reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU when they had the golden opportunity to do so. As long as Zanu PF continue to enjoy the carte blanche powers to rig elections, they will do so, more so given MDC gives them legitimacy by participating regardless how flawed and illegal the process gets!

Chamisa winning 2/3 majority in parliament and the presidency! If wishes were horse beggars would win every horse race, lottery and every election!

  5. As a rule of thumb, nations get the government they deserve. We in Zimbabwe certainly deserve this corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship. Zimbabwe could have been the South Korea of Africa; we had the potential to be and still have if only we can solve our chronic problem of bad governance. Four decades of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF misrule has left the country in economic ruins and political paralysis – the present political system has been stifling no quality leaders can ever emerge out of such a sewage pond!
Any natural disaster such as the corona virus outbreak are bound to be amplified and echoes back and forth become the nation is weak and feeble already before the onset of the disaster. Zanu PF is a very secretive regime ultra-sensitive about its incompetence and failures and therefore it is not surprising the regime would be under reporting the covid 19 cases and deaths. 5 000 is nonsense, 25 000 is more like it! And, thanks to the regime’s incompetence and corruption, the grime ripper will have a few more years still whilst the virus remains a threat.
As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who have to rig elections to stay in power this nation will remain the North Kore of Africa!

  6. ZIMBABWE is experiencing increased inflows of foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in most provinces, at a time when the world is grappling with multiple economic challenges.

This indicates that the country "is defiantly in the middle of a bold, irreversible forward march", according to President Mnangagwa.

Many investors such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund are beginning to notice the resurgence.

Writing in his weekly column in The Sunday Mail this week, President Mnangagwa said many projects had registered significant progress in the country's non-urban provinces, including Bikita Lithium (Masvingo), Muzarabani Oil and Gas exploration (Mashonaland Central), Hwange Power Station expansion and coal projects (Matabeleland North), Goromonzi Lithium and Mount Meru Millers in Mashonaland East.

Lithium deposits in Manicaland were also expected to attract investment soon.

He expressed satisfaction with progress at Manhize in Mvuma where Chinese firm Dinson Iron and Steel Company (Disco) is setting up Africa's largest steel processing plant, whose impact will be felt in the three provinces of Midlands, Mashonaland West and Mashonaland East.

The project will create up to 20 000 jobs through cross-cutting industries and a new city powered by steel.

It is election season, time for the regime to announce mega projects and sign mega deals, especially with the Chinese. DFI has all but dried up because Zimbabwe is a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who have rigged elections to stay in power. No one wants to invest good money in a pariah state, not even the Chinese.

Some of the mega projects, like the Hwange Expansion and Kariba Dam upgrading, are a roll-over from the past they have been in the books for decades.

Other than officiating at the opening of the odd clinic and even toilets, Mnangagwa has very little to show for five years in power. His “Zimbabwe is open for business!” was lead balloon that never took off! The economy is still in deep trouble with very little sign of any meaningful recovery. He needs these mega deals to maintain the smoke screen he is winning on the economic front.

Mnangagwa’s real hope of election victory in the 2023 elections is by blatantly rigging those elections. To get away with the rigging, he needs the opposition to participate no matter how flawed the process got. With day-dreamers like Nelson Chamisa who is already claiming electoral victory, Mnangagwa is assured of CCC participating and handing him legitimacy in a silver platter!

  7. @ Dr Mavaza
“Each time Zimbabwe prepares for elections, the opposition prepares a case for a stolen vote.

By now, the trend is abundantly clear: no matter the election, no matter the evidence and sometimes no matter whether his side wins or not, CCC leader Nelson Chamisa is going to claim or suggest widespread voter fraud.

It is always a baseless and dubious claim.

The truth of the matter is that those who blame others for fraud are the best fraudsters.

Chamisa's political career is already a fraud. He stole elections in his own party and has shown tendencies of dictatorship.”
Nelson Chamisa is participating in these flawed and illegal elections knowing fully well that Zanu PF is blatantly rigging the elections and that by participating CCC is giving Zanu PF legitimacy.
The reasons why CCC are participating in these flawed elections regardless, is the same reasons why MDC failed to implement even one reform during the GNU – incompetence and greed. Mugabe saw to it that Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends enjoyed all the trappings of high office. And with their snouts in the feeding trough they forgot about the reforms.
What makes Chamisa’s post elections complains of Zanu PF rigging the elections so hollow and nonsensical is that he is pretending that he did not know Zanu PF was rigging! No one except his wildebeest herd followers believe such nonsense and this is why no one, absolutely no one, with half a brain has ever taken Chamisa’s claims he won the 2018 elections seriously. An election process in which there is not even something as basic as a verified voters’ roll cannot, per se, be legitimate and so cannot produce a legitimate winner!

  8. New gold coins, an interest rate at 200% – among the highest in the world – and jotting down the legal currency status for US dollars into law are all part of the latest money merry-go-round finance measures put in place by Zimbabwe to try to attract investors.

Zimbabwe’s battered economy has continued to struggle, heightening an uncertain operating environment for companies. The government insists, though, that opportunists are driving down the Zimbabwe dollar currency through speculative currency trading, hence the raft of new finance measures announced Monday.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe said its Fidelity Printers unit will mint gold coins for use as a store of value on the local market after raising interest rates from 80% to 200%. Zimbabwe’s year on year inflation rate currently stands at 192% for the month of June.

As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who rig elections with the help of the corrupt and utterly useless opposition, Zimbabwe will never achieve any meaningful economic recovery. Never!
