"No individual can be bigger than Zimbabwe" says Kasukuwere, now - "Terror the human form divine" said W Blake N Garikai

Anyone who read the latest remarks from Zanu PF former Cabinet Minister Saviour Kasukuwere must have laughed their head off. What is the idiot wittering about, they must have asked themselves!

"People must unite and deal with common challenges. No individual can be bigger than Zimbabwe," Kasukuwere told NewsDay.

"It must never be about an individual or opposition, but it is about survival of the people of Zimbabwe.  Let us create conditions for a greater Zimbabwe and stability, greater peace and no one must be scared of their future in Zimbabwe. We must have hope.”

Here is the man who made a virtue of riding roughshod over the people of Zimbabwe denying them their basic freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life. Zanu PF murdered in cold blood over 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans during Mugabe’s reign of terror for the sole purpose of creating and retaining the de facto one party state headed by Robert Mugabe.

Kasukuwere, together with all the other Zanu PF thugs, played his party in creating and retaining the de facto one party dictatorship in which Mugabe was certainly “bigger” than Zanu PF, the party, which in turn was bigger than Zimbabwe, the nation. Mugabe only lost his top-dog position in the November 2017 military coup that booted Mugabe, Kasukuwere and a few other G40 members out of the party and, for some, out of the country.

"No individual is greater than the nation. We need to admit that and ask ourselves tough questions before we do the right thing. The rule of law and property rights should be protected.  We need a better country for every Zimbabwean," continued Kasukuwere.

What a hypocrite, he never ever asked any of these questions before and certainly did not cared about the rule of law and the heartbreaking suffering of the down trodden povo until now.

Saviour Kasukuwere and his fellow G40 members were angry to find themselves being booted out of power by Mnangagwa and his Lacoste faction. The G40 members must have turned jet-black with envy when they saw the Zimbabwe public pouring out in the hundreds of thousands in support of the November coup.

“People were desperate to see the back of Mugabe, they were relived to see it happen and did not care how it happened!” some one rationalised at the time.

Desperate people do desperate things!

It is exactly four years ago this month since the November 2017 military coup and already it is clear that none of the economic recovery and political changes the people had hoped for will happen.

Mnangagwa’s “Zimbabwe is open for business!” mantra that expected to open the floodgates of investors, for example; was a lead balloon that never took off. Investors are a shrewd and savvy lot; they could see the coup removed one dictator only to replace him with another whilst the dictatorship itself remained untouched.

The disillusionment with Mnangagwa and his “new dispensation and Second Republic” has been total so that many now readily admit their euphoria four years ago was total misplace. They now call the 15 November 2017 “Dzungu Day!” (Madness Day!)

The mass disillusionment with Mnangagwa and has Lacoste faction has given G40 leaders hope that they too can present themselves to the nation as the country’s saviours. If the people were so desperate for change in November 2017 they failed to see the coup was giving them the same Zanu PF dictatorship or be it under new management, the same trick can be played on the people again! All Kasukuwere and company need to do put up a show, they care and have a human heart.

Cruelty has a human heart,

And Jealousy a human face,

Terror the human form divine,

And Secrecy the human dress.

  1. FINANCE minister Mthuli Ncube yesterday presented a $927,3 billion budget with an ambitious gross domestic product growth projection of 5,5% for 2022, but former Finance minister Tendai Biti dismissed it as a "ritualistic formality bereft of substance".

Biti said the budget had failed to address exchange rate distortions and structural challenges around the free-falling local currency.

In his budget presentation, Ncube said: "Higher than projected wage reviews during the course of 2021 by government and some private sector employers has pushed a number of taxpayers into higher income tax brackets, resulting in bracket creep and a higher tax burden.

"In order to provide relief to taxpayers and also boost aggregate demand for goods and services, I propose to adjust the tax-free threshold from $10 000 to $25 000 and also adjust the tax bands to end at $500 000, above which a marginal tax rate of 40% will apply with effect from January 1, 2022.”

No one can ever deny that Zimbabwe’s national budget is indeed a ritual devoid of meaning and substance. What is interesting here is that some one like Tendai Biti is saying this now when he, as Minister of Finance during the 2008 to 2013 GNU, was the one who the chief priest in the ritual.

Tendai Biti complained of the billions of dollars being looted from the lucrative diamond mining to finance Joint Operation Command Junta, “the parallel government”, as he called it. Money that should have been coming to central government and the allocated for the good of all through the national budget. He complained about the looting but did nothing to stop it.

Corruption has since spread and grown from the diamond mining to mining of other minerals such as gold to other sectors such as fuel, foreign currency and even donated covid-19 aid is fair game to the looters! Minister of Finance Mthuli Ncube is basic on the craps falling off the looters’ table, a farce bereft of substance!

  2. There is no deny that Saviour Kasukuwere, Professor Jonathan Moyo, Emmerson Mnangagwa, Robert Mugabe and all the other Zanu PF thugs are all peas out of the same pod. They all played their part in the creation of the Zanu PF dictatorship that has ridden roughshod over us denying us our freedoms, rights, hope and human dignity. They each had their share of the spoils of power and did not give a damn about the tragic human suffering their had unleashed.

The dog-eat-dog in fighting in Zanu PF was as certain as the sun rise; the available wealth for looting was shrinking fast, the inevitable consequence of criminal waste of the nation’s human and material resources, and Zanu PF thugs would bound to fight over the scraps like hyenas.

The ordinary people identified Robert Mugabe with the Zanu PF dictatorship and so when they were force to pick sides between the two waring Zanu PF factions it was a simple choice. They were not going to support G40 for no better reason than that Robert Mugabe was in that camp.

Four years after the coup, it is clear “the criminal elements destroying the economy” the coup plotters targeted are still in government because the economic meltdown has continued. It is no surprise the knights in shining armour riding in to the rescue are Kasukuwere, Jonathan Moyo and the rest of the G40. “Terror in human form divine!” indeed.

Unless there are democratic reforms and the sewage swamp properly drained, the nation will have one government after another of these recycled Zanu PF thugs or, at best, interspaced with the mediocre MDC!

We need to implement the democratic reforms as a matter of urgency! The Zanu PF thugs will be using some of their looted wealth to make sure the sewage swamp is not drained.

  3. The Chancellor of the Midlands State University (MSU) President Mnangagwa has arrived to officiate at the 22nd MSU graduation ceremony.

The graduation ceremony is being held at MSU's main campus in Gweru.

A record 6594 students are graduating with 200 expected to be capped by President Mnangagwa.

Many people have heaped lots and lots of praise on Mugabe for expanding Zimbabwe’s education soon after the country’s independence in 1980. The truth is the number of student intakes at all levels have grown in leaps and bounds but the investment in infrastructure and manpower has always lagged behind. Yes the quantity has increased but at the cost of quality.

In the 1990s I had the opportunity to interview some “O” and “A” level students and was appalled that some of them did not know what a verb is! How can anyone say they did “O” mathematics and yet do not know Pythagoras Theorem? The quality of education given these students had been diluted to the point of being utterly useless!

The last two years it is either schools and colleges were closed due to covid-19 or the teachers were on strike; these students have learned nothing and yet they are graduating with first class honours some of them! What a sick joke! Who are we deceiving here but ourselves?

  4. @ Nathi Sibandaa

“Zanu hegemony and their political bankruptcy is taking everyone down the drain. Who do I blame? I blame Zimbabweans people who have been played and pitted against one another since 1980 till this day. I said this and I want to repeat it that that coup of 2017 was an opportunity as citizens to get rid of Zanu once and for all. How can a party use the National army to fights its own infighting. The citizens were suppose to denounce Zanu, denounce Chiwenga using the army to neutralize the police force, denounce Mnangagwa and denounce Mugabe and his faction. I salute Sudan for refusing the kind of Zimbabwe like nonsense that the military had taken. We are liberators of ourselves.”

I totally agree that Zimbabweans should have never embraced Mnangagwa and his fellow Joint Operation Command Junta as the nation’s liberators since it was none other than the same Junta that had rigged the elections and committed the mass murders to keep Mugabe in power in the first place!

Zimbabweans must also denounce the opportunistic and sell-out MDC leaders who led from the front in embracing Mnangagwa and the Junta after the 2017 coup. Indeed, it is the sell-out MDC who, by participating in these flawed elections, are giving vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy and thus helping to perpetuate the dictatorship.
