In 1979 Zanu PF didn't care about destruction caused by war; since brought ruin, still don't care - Enough is enough P Guramatunhu

"If you see anyone purporting to represent Zanu-PF youth league, those people are pretenders, they are masquerades. This is the real and authentic Zanu-PF youth league that is gathered here at the party headquarters," Chirau said.

"This is the only place where properly, ideologically sound cadres do their meetings. Zanu-PF does its things using proper channels. As the youth league, we are totally in support of the decision made by the politburo because it is the highest decision-making body of our party. From the cell, branch, province, district, our affiliates are mandated to follow and abide by the decision made by the politburo," he said.

Zanu PF is imploding because the party is rotten to the core. The party has done nothing to end corruption and after 40 years this problem has spread like a deadly cancer that has destroyed every sector of the economy. Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown is real and terminal!

Zanu PF politburo has fired the two party youths for naming and shaming corrupt individuals but has once again done nothing to deal with the problem itself - the rampant corruption - proof, if any was needed, that the party is rotten to the core!

“Zanu-PF does its things using proper channels!” How naive! If Zanu PF had dealt with the problem of corruption, the country would not be in this mess.

Zanu PF is imploding and sinking into the abyss. The big worry is the regime is dragging the nation down with it.

Ever since the country attained her independence in 1980, Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF party have rigged elections, usurping the people’s freedoms and rights including the right to a meaningful say in the governance of the country and even the right to life.

Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies blatantly rigged the July 2018 elections. After seizing power from Mugabe in November 2017, Mnangagwa assured the nation he had turned a new leaf “a new dispensation, a Second Republic.” He promised to hold free, fair and credible elections.

By blatantly rigging the elections, Mnangagwa confirmed that Zimbabwe was still the same pariah state of Mugabe days, ruled by corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging thugs. No one wants to do business with thugs and hence the worsening economic meltdown.

Unemployment is a nauseating 90%; the country’s education services has all but collapsed, the best school result in Chiredzi South constituency at grade 7, “O” and “A” level was 3% pass rate; public health care too has collapsed; inflation has soared to over 500%; there is a chronic shortage of cash, fuel, medicine, etc.

According to a recent WB report, 34% of our people now live in extreme poverty, more than 3 times the world average of less than 10%. This is a problem commonly associated with countries like Syria now its 9th year of the scorch the earth civil war or Haiti after the devastating earth quake. Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown and extreme poverty is a result of 40 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and rank lawlessness that has earned the country the pariah state status.

The tragedy with Zimbabwe is the people have realised that Zanu PF misrule was bringing mass poverty and despair years ago but have been utterly helpless to do anything about it. There have been a number of golden opportunities to end the Zanu PF dictatorship but these have all been wasted by the corrupt and incompetent opposition, especially the MDC.

Even with all the overwhelming evidence of the serious economic meltdown and tragic human suffering and deaths; Mnangagwa and his Zanu PF cronies will not admit they have failed much less give up power.

Indeed, Zanu PF’s response to the worsening economic situation has been cut government spending on education, health and other public welfare concerns whilst boasting expenditure of state security sectors. Zimbabwe is now a Police State as well as a pariah state.

The economic meltdown has not spared the Zanu PF ruling elite, the factional fighting in the party is the leaders fighting over the ever shrinking national cake. Poverty awaits all those who have lost the factional war. In 2014 it was Mai Mujuru and her supporters who were booted out of the party; in 2017 it was Mugabe and his G40 and the remaining Lactose faction is already dividing like the ameba.

The youth league's secretary for information and publicity Yeukai Simbanegavi said they did not support any action that would bring the party's name into disrepute.

"We also need to be defending the party and the revolution as well as our president comrade ED Mnangagwa at all cost. We have agreed that as the youth league we are committed to adhere to the guidance we are given by our party leadership and follow the constitution as well as our internal procedures that guide our day-to-day activities and avoid bringing our party into disrepute," Zanu PF youth league's secretary for information and publicity, Yeukai Simbanegavi.

It is that kind of blind loyalty to a corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical regime that has landed the nation into this economic mess and political paralysis. ED Mnagagwa rigged the 2018 elections, he has no mandate to govern and therefore he and his Zanu PF regime are illegitimate.

It is this blind loyalty to the corrupt, incompetent and vote rigging tyrants that has kept Zanu PF thugs in power for 40 years. We should all be united in demanding an end to the curse of rigged elections and bad governance. Zanu PF is imploding and is rightly sinking into the abyss but unless we can decouple its iron grip on the nation, it is dragging the whole nation with it.

“In 1979, at the height of the struggle against white rule, a diplomat who mixed frequently with Mugabe and other leaders of his party observed that ‘ZANU does not seem to attach much importance to the destruction caused by prolonged war’. They said they were content to see Zimbabwe ‘totally’ demolished if that was the price to be paid for preventing others from ruling it. That attitude has not changed an iota, notwithstanding the passage of 40 years and Mugabe’s departure. After all, the men who now rule wielded his hatchets for most of that period,” narrated Stuart Doran in the Strategist ASPI.

These Zanu PF thugs are not attaching much importance to the destruction caused by their 40 years of corrupt and tyrannical misrule either. Generations are growing up with no formal education; millions are suffering of easily treatable ailments and hundred are dying every week; millions are now living in abject poverty; etc.

Enough is enough! Whatever debt the nation owed to these Zanu PF thugs, for liberating the country from the white colonial rulers, has been paid in full a thousand times over.

From hence forward, every Zimbabwean must enjoy their freedoms and basic human rights including the right to free, fair and credible elections. This illegitimate Zanu PF regime must step down to allow the appointment of an independent body to implement the reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections.

Zimbabwe’s next elections, chalked for July 2023, must be free, fair and credible without fail!
