Chamisa threaten "radical approach" to force ED into new GNU - same s***t different name P Guramatunhu

“They will arrest and kill some of us, but no gun is more powerful than a conscious mind. Some people are saying why don’t you focus on 2023. That is foolishness. Foolishness is doing the same thing with no results. There has to be a radical approach, a disruptive approach,” said Nelson Chamisa, leader of MDC.

Hah! So Chamisa has finally accepted that it is insane to do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result! After 20 years on the political centre stage, elected there to delivery the democratic changes the nation has been dying for, and yet has nothing to show for it.

The tragedy here is what he is calling “a radical approach, a disruptive approach” is nothing but the same foolishness, same s***t different day.

Mr Chamisa and his MDC friends were warned of the folly of participating in elections without first implementing the reforms - Zanu PF will rig the elections leaving the country stuck with the same corrupt, incompetent and tyrannical regime.

“MDC President Nelson Chamisa says his party will engage in a radical approach and hold demonstrations to push President Emmerson Mnangagwa to the negotiation table and the implementation of political reforms ahead of the 2023 elections,” New Zimbabwe reported.

Chamisa wants him and Mnangagwa to the negotiate a power sharing arrangement in which he, Nelson Chamisa, and a few of his MDC friends will be allocated some cabinet positions in a Zanu PF and MDC joint cabinet. This will be a replica of the Government of National Unity (GNU) of 2008 to 2013 except that Chamisa is insisting in calling it a National Transition Authority (NTA). He is welcome to call the power sharing arrangement whatever he pleases, it is whether or not it will delivery any change.

“It doesn’t matter if a cat is black or white so long as it catches mice!” said Chairman Deng Xiaoping, the man credited with the modernising of China after the decades of chaos and misguided socialism ideological madness of Chairman Mao Zedong.

The acid test of the NTA is to implement the democratic reforms necessary for free, fair and credible elections. The NTA is doomed to fail for two reasons:

  1. Even if the mixed cabinet was to agree on the need for democratic reforms, it is for parliament to debate and agree on the details of the proposed reforms. Zanu PF, with its 2/3 majority in parliament, will never pass any meaningful reforms.

Zanu PF will never ever reform itself out of office; this is obvious but clearly not to Chamisa and company.

  1. Zanu PF has all the four Aces up its sleeve! Zanu PF knows that MDC will demand to have the reform implemented and make all manner of threats of what the party will do if reforms are not implemented. But when the chips are down Chamisa et al will participate in the 2023 elections even if Zanu PF has not implemented even one token reform.

MDC and the rest in the opposition camp have participated in flawed and illegal elections even when Zanu PF had failed to produce something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. Since the 2008 GNU, Zanu PF has learnt that the party can rig the elections all it wants and still have opposition participating to give the process legitimacy as long as it allowed them to win a few seats. And Zanu PF is going to spice up its bait!

Zanu PF is going to amend the constitution to create “the official leader of the opposition and shadow cabinet” who will be rewarded with ministerial limos and perks. The very thing Chamisa and company are ferreting for right now! There is the added attraction of another well funded Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) for the losers. The 2023 elections will be a hotly contested affair even with no reforms, no verified voters’ roll, etc. and Chamisa and his MDC will be right there in the thick of it!

We have all heard of the anecdotal story of the mental patient watering the garden using a leaking bucket and making no progress. Once in a while the penny will drop, the patient will acknowledge the problem of the leaking bucket but it is what he/she does next that will show they are not a full shilling!

“I will carry the bucket on my head!” And off they go with renewed vigour and enthusiasm!

For the last 20 years, the people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders to power on the understanding the party will implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship. Not even one reforms has been implemented. Not one!

The nation is still stuck with this corrupt, incompetent, voting rigging and tyrannical Zanu PF regime. And after 40 years of gross mismanagement, rampant corruption and lawlessness; the country is in economic ruins, millions now live in abject poverty. The nation is desperate for a solution to end the Zanu PF dictatorship!

“No gun is effective against a people who are resolute. We have given peace a chance. The regime must not take us for granted,” said Chamisa. And off he goes with his leaking political bucket!

This is not a solution; we are just stuck in a rut, running round and round like headless chickens! We are desperate to do something right and not be doing the same foolish thing and pretend it is not only different but, better still, that we are making progress.

“Hupenzi inyama yegakava!” (The insane are stubbornly single track minded!)

  1. "People's government this year. in 2020!" said Chamisa.

The people of Zimbabwe have risked life and limb to elect MDC leaders into office on the promise they will implement the democratic changes the nation has been dying for. In all the 20 years of MDC on the political stage, the party has failed to implement even one reform. Not one!

Indeed, by foolishly participating in the flawed and illegal 2018 elections, MDC together with the other village idiots in the opposition gave the vote rigging and thus illegitimate Zanu PF some modicum of credibility. And now we are to believe MDC will somehow force Mnangagwa to give up power and allow Chamisa to rule!

"Vision 2030, an upper middle income nation by 2030!" says Mnangagwa.

For the last 40 years of Zanu PF rule, the country has followed a stead trajectory of economic decline because of gross mismanagement and rampant corruption. Mangagwa has done nothing to address these teething problems and yet still expect us to believe his vision 2030! Meanwhile the Zimbabwe economy is sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss.

The truth is both Chamisa and Mnangagwa will ever deliver on their promises; they are taking us for fools forever chasing the mirage!

What the country must do is demand that Zanu PF must step down because the July 2018 was flawed and illegal so the nation can appoint an independent body to implement the reforms. Zanu PF and MDC will never implement the reforms, they have failed to do so all these years.

The prospect of Zanu PF remaining in office until 2023 is simply unthinkable because the party will rig the 2023 elections guaranteed!

  2. What is it exactly will the people be demanding in these street protests?

If the street protest are to demand that Mnangagwa should agree to the power sharing that Chamisa has been calling for then only fools would want that. Zimbabwe had a GNU in which Zanu PF and MDC were involved and they failed to get even one reform implemented. Not one!

Whilst it is necessary to have another GNU because Zanu PF is illegitimate, it is important to understand that neither Zanu PF nor MDC can play any role in this new GNU. We need a body that will implement the reforms and not waste the nation’s time.

  3. MDC has been on the political centre stage for 20 years now and the party has failed to implement even one reform! The problem here is not only that MDC are corrupt and incompetent but the situation is made worse by having an electorate that has no clue what is going on! How can the people how MDC leaders to account when they do not know what democratic changes they want are much less how they should be implemented!

  4. "Given that the recommendations on the Constitutional Amendment Bill are unanimous, a refusal by government will be a disbanding of Polad. There will be no Polad to talk about. Zanu-PF is part of Polad. It runs the government. If it is sincere in being part to the Polad recommendations, it has to influence the government to accept the Polad position," Madhuku said.

Well, well! This is a case of a bee bossing an elephant!

  5. What Nelson Chamisa is demanding out of the political dialogue with Mnangagwa is a power sharing arrangement in which he, Nelson and a few MDC leaders are given cabinet positions. Chamisa says it not about power but that is all semantics, he would not deny that he wants these cabinet position.

As for the NTA implementing reforms this is just one of MDC’s redlines the party has drawn in the past only to ignore its own demands. I agree the Zanu PF controlled parliament will never implement the reforms, And, as you rightly pointed out, Zanu PF knows they can ignore the reforms since MDC will never boycott the elections even if no reforms are implemented.

There really big surprise here is the NTA is a waste of time and millions of Zimbabweans out there are not even aware of this reality, even after all the effort to flag this up. It is no surprise at all that Zimbabwe is in this economic and political mess, with such a laid back electorate who do not know even their basic rights nor care when they are denied it is no surprise the politicians have had a field day these last 40 years!

  6. @ Nomazulu

“Israel Dube does not cease to amaze me each time he writes articles on Bulawayo24 regarding the Mthwakazi nation and how they are going to liberate it. His latest article was all subtly pointing at Madam Thokozani Khuphe and her party's engagement with POLAD. As is the norm in this country Zimbabwe (Mthwakazi included) it is very easy to find political fault on women than men. Israel in his article warns Khuphe that they are watching her, already she has been condemned to death by Winnie Mandela necklace style: burning her to death by tying her hands, put a tyre over her head douse her with petrol, light the matches, and she burns to death. People will be frog-matched to see the cruel burning of Thoko as a warning that "traitors" are killed in this style. Is it not weird that Africans in most societies love to see, watch raw violence as a social corrective?

“Thokozani Khuphe is politician, one of the founder members of MDC party: Jonathan Moyo is too a politician, until the last day he served as Polite Buro member of Zanu PF:  Both these two coming from Mthwakazi region. To summarize Jonathan's political path since the beginning of the Millennium, he joined the Zanu PF party and was a staunch believer of Zanu PF, be it ideology or otherwise. Inside Zanu PF Jonathan Moyo was to block Joyce Mujuru to ascending into becoming the next President, taking over from Robert Mugabe. His preference was Mnangagwa hence the Tsholotsho Declaration, a move that failed dismally leading to his expulsion from the party. I did not read a single article from Mthwakazi parties that showed dismay, aversion or appalled at Jonathan's political reasoning to ever prefer Mnangagwa to Mujuru. Mnangagwa is a murderer who is well documented as the Minister responsible for the Gukurahundi atrocities that saw the brutal death of several thousands of Ndebele people including uBaba uMlevu: Jonathan's father.”

There is a real danger of Mthwakazi people dragging the nation into a mindless tribal conflict.

One of the few things the founding fathers of OAU, the forerunner of the AU, agreed on was that independent African countries must not be sucked into regional or tribal conflict over country borders. The continent must spend all its time, energy and treasure on pulling its people out of poverty and ignorance. They were right!

Israel Dube and his friends in Mthwakazi have been using the Zanu PF inspired Gukurahundi massacre to justify a regional and tribal division in Zimbabwe. This is just a senseless conflict!

Zanu PF is imploding and the country has a chance to turn over a new leaf. It is a great pity that after decades of corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF misrule Zimbabwe should find itself being dragged into more chaos and turmoil fighting a futile tribal conflict.

  7. "Today is about Youth. Fact: every day is about Youth.Youth are the driving force that builds nations and therefore the asset to invest in. But, you are tired of all talk, so from now on I will show you what I'm doing. Join me so we make it happen together. No more talk," reads Conventry's tweet.

Ministers were recently ordered by president Emmerson Mnangagwa to be working more outside their offices in a bid to meet with the people.

What have you, Minister, and government done in the last one year and half since your appointment? The nation needs employment opportunities to reduce the 90% unemployment rate. How many new jobs have you created?

Zimbabwe is a pariah state ruled by corrupt, incompetent, vote rigging and murderous thugs. No one is investing or lending to Zimbabwe because no one likes to do business with a pariah state. As long as Zimbabwe remains a pariah state there will be no meaningful economic recovery.

Mnangagwa rigged the July 2018 elections confirming Zimbabwe’s status as a pariah state. Coventry joined the regime for the sake of the thirty pieces of silver knowing fully well it was a pariah state. So the both knew what they were doing and therefore should not be pretending to be surprised the economy is in total meltdown.
