"Let us be brutally honest with each other, Zimbabwe," Trevor Ncube. We have the government we deserve.

  By Trevor Ncube

Let us be brutally honest with each other, Zimbabwe.

Day after day, we wake up and survive by sheer grit. We build, we hustle, we mend what’s broken—and we dare to hope. But we do it all alone. The Emmerson Mnangagwa government that taxes us to the bone offers little in return. No safety nets. No functioning systems. Just abuse, slogans and insults.

Where exactly are our taxes going?

Our roads have become obstacle courses. Potholes deep enough to bury your tyres—or your dreams. Bridges sway on broken backs. Urban streets, once a mark of pride, now resemble dusty, crumbling trails. And our hospitals? Ghosts of what they once were. If you want real treatment, you need a private doctor and deep pockets. The public infrastructure and services have collapsed.

We make plans to find clean water. We drill our own boreholes, or buy it—if we can afford it. Even poor people in the townships are pooling resources to drill boreholes. We generate our own electricity, lighting our homes with solar power, gas stoves, or firewood. ZESA, when it shows up, is more of a surprise than a service. We secure our homes with private security guards, tall walls, alarms—not because crime is gone, but because the police have been repurposed. Their mission? Protect the regime, not the people. Is that not the textbook definition of tyranny?

We pay our taxes—individuals and companies alike. We comply with numerous levies, tolls, licensing fees. And yet we receive nothing in return. So again: where is the money going?

Into the pockets of the many thieves around President Mnangagwa. They flaunt the proceeds of the loot without shame. Into shiny SUVs, first-class flights, private jets, and luxury mansions in leafy suburbs. Into patronage networks that feed the egos of a political elite that has grown fat while the rest of the nation starves. Into the hands of those same police who harass vendors and beat protesters—not to protect Zimbabwe, but to protect the power of a few from the anger of the many. Is this not tyranny?

Meanwhile, poverty crushes us. Dreams shrivel before they can bloom. Teenage pregnancies soar. Drug abuse has spiraled beyond problem—it’s now a national crisis. Our children are not dropping out of school because they lack ambition, but because they lack school fees, support, and hope. Our infrastructure is falling apart, but all we get are rehearsed promises and painted walls of propaganda.

Is this how a government helps its people?

A truly empathetic government would empower its citizens. It would invest in opportunity, not optics. It would enable the youth to dream and build—not just dangle a few dollars to a handpicked few in a sham of empowerment. True empowerment is building a system that serves everyone—not just the campaign-season elite.

And what of our war veterans? Once lionized, now weaponized. They are given boreholes and handouts—not as a tribute, but as a leash. What should be respect has turned into manipulation. Their sacrifice is now a tool for political control.

Zimbabwe, open your eyes.

We are funding our own oppression. We are bankrolling a system that gives back nothing but poverty and propaganda. We are the ones building this nation with our bare hands—while those in power loot it barefaced.

But Zimbabwe is not a lost cause. It is a nation bursting with talent, with resilience, with beauty. It is crying out—not just for better leadership—but for active, courageous, and informed citizens. Citizens who demand accountability. Citizens who defend their rights. From that soil, real opposition will rise. Empathetic leadership will emerge. And with it, a future that honours all.

But that burden, that beautiful burden, begins with each of us.

So I ask you again: Is the Mnangagwa government helping you at all? Or are you surviving in spite of it?

So What Must Happen Now?

Zimbabwe must awaken.

We must organize, not agonize. We must challenge the corruption, not normalize it. Demand transparency. Demand service. Demand dignity. Every Zimbabwean—young and old—must claim back their dreams, speak, resist, and rebuild. Demand quality and respect from all politicians- including those in opposition.

We are not helpless. We are the majority.

It’s time to take back our beautiful motherland.

Nations get the government they deserve and we certainly deserve this corrupt, tyrannical and vote rigging Zanu PF regime complete with its entourage of equally corrupt and useless opposition side-kicks. We cannot say the nation did not have the opportunity to end the Zanu PF dictatorship in the last 45 years; we did and we wasted them all.

USA President Trump threatened to rock the world with his "America First" mantra. Boy! He has rocked the world to its foundation. Scrapping USAID has been a hammer blow to many, especially in the third world. Now it is the imposition of trade tariffs to all nations across the board.

The economic turmoil has been felt right across the board and it is comparable to the turmoil cause by covid, except that this is a man-made crisis. If there should be a trade war, this could result in serious economic slow down resulting in the lose of jobs and economic hardships all round.

It is said whenever those in the developed countries catch a cold, these in the poorer third world countries will be coughing blood. The cost of Trump's America First is already billions of pounds to the developed nations and to the third world it is millions of lost live!

Countries like Zimbabwe must look to solving its economic and political problem holding the nation back with an increased sense of urgency!

"This Wilbert guy is just annoying
    Kindly remove him haana chiyamuro."

So you want me silenced because I dare to differ with you! The Zanu PF mentality has permeated deep in Zimbabwe, especially amongst those of very little intellect!

I have never been silenced by nincompoops and I have knocked some sense into a few empty heads.

Well, I am glad, I am here to open your mind. I will hammer some common sense into you empty head. I have the sludge hammer I intend to use it. I will be very disappointed if you leave this group. You dare not disappoint me!

  3. Draft impeachment documents released.

This will be historic if it goes through! He is an illegitimate regime impeaching an equally illegitimate president! It is a matter of historic record that the 2023 election process was flawed and illegal as both SADC and AU election observers reported.

  4. The Geza revolution was about Geza and company getting into power so that they too can loot, all the talk about ending corruption is just a smoke-screen to hide the real purpose.

I thought you said you are wiser than King Solomon hence the reason why you are angry that a mere mortal like me should question you or you demigod leaders.

So I am enjoying the King’s coffee here in UK and what the f****k are you doing letting ED and company rob you and the nation blind?

I am public enemy number one because I dare to say Zimbabwe is a failed state?

I have nothing but respect for all those Zimbabweans outside the country who nonetheless cares what is happening and are doing their best to help with remittence and with ideas. They have left the country and they are still Zimbabweans!

Nincompoops like you should stop abusing those in the diaspora. If you had all the answers then why is the country a failed state?

Zimbabwe's Ministry of Finance paid Ren-Form CC of South Africa R1.1 billion to supply 2023 election material to ZEC - the was no public tender process. R800 million was paid Wicknell Chivhayo's bank and then used to pay bribes and luxury goods. ZAA was informed of the financial irregularities and yet has done nothing about it. Nothing!

Zimbabweans have allowed corruption to grow and spread to every sector of the nation and so the corrupt are today the most powerful individuals, the call all the shots. How long are we going to allow this criminal waste of the nation's human and material resources to continue?

So because I have spoken some home-truth about Geza, more specifically that his uprising sought to replace one dictator with another as happened in 2017. You immediately conclude that I must be a Mnangagwa supporter. The is the simple mindedness that has allowed Zanu PF and MDC/CCC con people like you to do foolish things again and again.

People supported the 2017 coup and all that accomplish was replace Mugabe with Mnangagwa. Of course, it will be foolish to repeat the same mistake.

The real choice here is between dictatorship and democracy. The choice of one dictator or the other is a false choice no different from a mouse having to choice a cobra or black mamba.

But, of course, you are a simpleton and you cannot distinguish a real from a false choice even when it presented to you in the simplest format. The real tragedy here is that simpletons like you number in your millions and you have the vote! Stopping you picking the false choice has been the greatest challenge these last 45 years. How does one reason with some one who is brain-dead?

“Just support your Mnangagwa without writing nonsense here. Whatever the case we want your ED gone.” you say.

In 2017 you wanted Mugabe to gone and did but at the price of putting Mnangagwa, another dictator, in State House. Now you want Mnangagwa gone at the price of replacing him with yet another dictator, Chiwenga. Only an idiot like you would not see this as a failure! How can you? You can hardly tell your left hand from your right!!!!!

Poor Zimbabwe; with such mentally retarded voters, there is no hope of getting out of the hell-hole. None!

“Who holds the reins of power in Zimbabwe - civilian politicians or the military? The longstanding debate has resurfaced following a fiery analysis by award-winning investigative journalist Hopewell Chin'ono, who challenges former Information Minister Professor Jonathan Moyo's claim that the 2017 coup was a break from tradition.

Chin'ono contends that Zimbabwe has never truly been governed by politicians. Instead, he argues, it has been consistently controlled from behind the scenes by the military - "the gun."

"ZANU has always been led by the gun. Only ZAPU was led by politics," Chin'ono asserts, tracing a historical pattern in which the military arm of the ruling party, ZANLA, played a decisive role in political leadership transitions.

He points to the removal of ZANU founder Ndabaningi Sithole through the 1975 Mgagao Declaration - orchestrated by ZANLA - as an early example of the military overriding political structures. Similarly, the assassination of Herbert Chitepo in Zambia, which an international commission linked to ZANLA operatives, further underscores this trend, according to Chin’ono.”

Before independence those carrying the guns may have been the king makers in Zanu PF, may be although I have my doubts. This was not so after independence in 1980. It was the Zanu PF politicians, notably Mugabe and Mnangagwa who called the shots. These two pulled the strings and those in the Army, Police, CIO, Prison Services and all those put out to pasture in the war veterans were the puppets doing the two’s dirty bidding.

In 2008 for example, Zanu PF lost the March vote to Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC. Mnangagwa called upon the Joint Operations Command, the Junta, comprising the top brass in the four security branch to help wrestle political power back through Operation Mavhotera Papi. It was to be expected that Mugabe rewarded the Junta members with a share of the spoils of power, the seized former white owned farms, licence to loot diamond mining concessions, etc.

Whenever there has been any factional wars in Zanu PF, the political fissures have left the Army, Police, war veterans, etc. divided too. In the 2017 the Army and some of the war veterans sided with Lacoste faction whilst the Police, CIO and remaining war veterans sided with G40. That was just how the dices fell and to suggest that it was the Army controlling the politician is mischievous.

Indeed, a number of former Army personnel occupied a number of key government post post 2017 coup but by 2023 elections most of them were sidelined leaving VP Chiwenga completely isolated. Mnangagwa has filled the Army and war veterans with his own men and women too.

So that when Blessed Geza called for an uprising against Mnangagwa, hoping for a repeat of the 2017 coup, it fizzled out like a wet fire-cracker. Chiwenga, whom Geza & Co. were garnering for, did not have much influence in the Army or war veterans.

There is no doubt that most in the Army would want Chiwenga to take over but they do not have the political muscle to impose that! Mnangagwa controls the Army, war veterans, Police, CIO and Prison Service; for now at least.

The 2017 military coup, the coup order was issued by none other than V P Chiwenga himself, promised to stamp out corruption and to hold free, fair and credible elections. The coup removed Mugabe and replaced him with Mnangagwa, one dictator with another. The Geza uprising is seeking to replace Mnangagwa with Chiwenga, replacing a dictator with yet another dictator. This is repeating the 2017 mistake!

Can you explain why anyone should believe this is not history repeating itself, especially as G40 members are rumoured to join the Chiwenga regime?

SADC and AU condemned Zimbabwe's 2023 elections as flawed and illegal but they did not go the extra step and deny Zanu PF legitimacy as they did in 2008 BECAUSE MILLIONS OF ZIMBABWEANS PARTICIPATED IN THE 2023 ELECTIONS! They were conned into participating because they believed Chamisa's idiotic lies of plugging all vote rigging loop holes.

An ignorant and easily conned electorate is a curse to the nation.

Zimbabweans are still participating in flawed by-elections, a sure sign they will participate in the 2028 harmonised national elections giving Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate their own suffering. This is insane!

  13. @ Attack

“Hauna nyaya iwe how can you expose rigging ye zanu if you don't participate.”

This is just a feeble excuse for participating no matter how flawed and illegal the process gets. Zanu PF has rigged and won elections for 45 years and counting precisely because the elections process are “so flawed, so illegal the only logical step is to withdraw”, as David Coltart readily admitted. The opposition leaders themselves have not withdrawn because they are after the few gravy train seats Zanu PF offers to entice them to participate.

Opposition leaders have, in turn, enticed their supporters to participate by telling them the opposition have devised strategies to win RIGGED elections. The ignorant and brain dead supporters have believed these idiotic lies time and time again.

Zimbabwe’s worst curse is giving the right to vote to ignorant and easily conned people, especially given the political vultures on both sides of the political divide whose political careers is dependent on conning voters to do foolish things.

“Hauna nyaya iwe how can you expose rigging ye zanu if you don't participate!” you say. So you participated in 2008 and exposed Zanu PF rigging. SADC saw the rigging and denied Zanu PF legitimacy and thus forced the party into the 2008 to 2013 GNU. The primary purpose of the GNU was to implement the reforms. Why did MDC fail to implement even one token reform?

MDC/CCC have been participating in the flawed elections since 2013 and you think it was “to expose Zanu PF rigging”? How any one can be so dumb, thick and slow beggars belief!

If Zimbabweans had been paying attention then they would not be surprised because the selling out by our political leaders have been going on all along. NDC/CCC leaders failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU because Mugabe bribed them with the trappings of high office; the E-Class Mercedes Benz, generous salaries and perks, a US$4 million mansion for Tsvangirai himself, etc.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyere!” boasted Zanu PF cronies when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing reforms during the GNU.

The Zanu PF cronies knew what they were talking about, of course, for Mugabe had practised on them since the country’s independence in 1980. “Mose murivakadzi vaMugabe!” commented Margaret Dongo in sheer exasperation at how Zanu PF leaders all grovelled to Mugabe. Not even one Zanu PF leaders dared to question the murderous tyrant’s madness, even in the face of the Gukurahundi massacre!

Mnangagwa squandered over US$5 billion in bribes during the 2023 elections alone; from chicken and chip for the millions of povo bused to rallies, to motorcycles and trucks for all village heads and chiefs, US$ 40 000 housing loan for all MPs and senators, US$ 400 000 for all Judges, US$500 000 for all ministers and God only knows how billions of dollars the likes of Chivhayo and other seasoned looters racked in!

I am NOT surprise to hear, 70 MPs are queuing up to receive their pieces of land, a bribe so they do not vote to impeach Mnangagwa! Our political leaders have learned to enjoy the gravy train good-life, they will never rock the boat! Never!

  17. “Seventy Zimbabwean MPs from different parts of the country are currently at the Mabelreign District Office in Harare, receiving pieces of land as a bribe not to vote against Emmerson Mnangagwa in an impeachment vote.

These MPs are from both the ruling ZANUPF party and the purported opposition, CCC.
The land they are receiving is also part of the payment they were promised in exchange for supporting Mnangagwa’s bid to extend his term of office to 2030.

The land is being taken from greenways in Ward 16 in Mabelreign and in Westgate.
The allocation of this land was done by Mnangagwa’s 2030 supporter and trumpet, the Local Government Minister, Daniel Garwe.

Media houses—rush there now, they are still at the Mabelreign District Office.

    • Greenways are strips of natural land, within urban or suburban areas, that are preserved for environmental and recreational purposes.
They include parks, walking paths, cycling trails, or undeveloped natural corridors like woodlands or wetlands.

They help manage stormwater, protect biodiversity, reduce urban heat, and provide communities with access to green space.
When governments seize or allocate greenways for development—especially for political favours—it must spark public outrage because it destroys communal, environmental, and recreational assets.”

MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token democratic reform in 25 years and have been participating in flawed elections out of greed. MDC/CCC leaders have admitted this themselves.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

The very fact that Zimbabweans, in their millions, have continued to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy, give MDC/CCC leaders a few gravy train seats and perpetuate the dictatorship and the nation’s suffering. They were conned into participating believing idiotic opposition lies would win RIGGED elections.

You are right, Zimbabweans are set to participate in flawed 2028 elections to perpetuate the dictatorship and their own suffering!

Why millions of Zimbabweans have believed these idiotic lies time and time again speaks volumes of how ignorant, naive and gullible Zimbabweans are! “Bit I don't blame them for everything,,, they were in the GNU but not in total power,,

They were limited,,,if only it was acceptable for that MDC to in the GNU,, Tsvangirai could be living by now.”

No one said MDC leaders were “in total control”. They did not fail to implement even one token reform because they were NOT “in total control”. None of the MDC leaders themselves have ever said they failed to implement even one reform because they were not in control because they know that is irrelevant. So why are you making a mountain out of a mole-hill?

You know they failed to implement even one reform because the MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt and breathtakingly incompetent. You cannot admit and so come up with feeble excuses why they failed.

How anyone can still be denying a simple historic fact speaks volumes of the calibre of person you are! If you have failed to comprehend the what the GNU was about, even now with the benefit of hindsight. It is wishful thinking that such a simpleton will ever comprehend the complexities of a healthy and functioning democracy.

Giving a vote to some one who can hardly tell their left hand from the right is as irresponsible as giving a loaded gun to a monkey! Universal suffrage is a curse and not a blessing, especially when the politicians on both sides of the political divide are more interested in conning the ignorant voters and not to educate them!

You even said Chamisa knows it, and he have been lying about plugging vote rigging loopholes because of greedy also.

In response I said, I don't blame them because they were not in total and I did not say you said they were in total power

They did not do anything to bring about political changes because they were suppressed. It is because they were not in control even though they were in GNU

    Did this offend you?

You know when discussing, there is debate and agreement in that debate,,it's not always a matter of arguing ,, I think it's from here where we can learn to discuss, argue and debate at elevated levels or advanced levels

We don't argue for sake of arguing,,,,no.”

If you say MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement even one token reform because they did not have “total control” during the GNU, even now with the benefit of hindsight; it bespeaks of some one who has failed to comprehend anything.

You are like some one of those many Zimbabweans who says they have done “O” levels and yet do not know what a verb is! What is there to argue with such a person?

MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement even one token democratic reform in the last 25 years, including the GNU years, because they are corrupt and incompetent - that is a historic fact. You do not know why MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement even one token reform just as the many Zimbabweans out there with 11 years of formal education who do not know what is a verb, victims of the Zanu PF quantity with no quality education system. I know why MDC/CCC leaders failed to implement reforms just as I know what a verb is; why would I argue over such matters!

What changes have you brought in 25 years, 5 of which in the GNU? Why did MDC fail to implement even one reform during the GNU? What did Zanu PF cronies mean when the said “Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” when asked why MDC leaders were not implementing any reforms during the GNU?

MDC/CCC have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. You Chamisa has lied about the party winning RIGGED elections to con people to participate! You lied about “plugging all the vote rigging loop[ holes. #Godisinit!” You even evoked the name of God!

It is all very well condemning MDC/CCC councillors for being corrupt and yet say nothing of your own betrayal!

Millions of Zimbabweans are ignorant, naive and gullible and you have taken full advantage of this to conned them to do one foolish thing after another.

“Nelson Chamisa has made a lot of mistakes, that he, himself admits to. To add on that, there are things that we believe he should have handled differently. He is not a saint. But what we are not going to do is to crucify him as if he is the one who created Zimbabwe's problems, he tried in a manner that was best to him and he continues to try.

Nelson Chamisa is not a sacred individual, he is not a god and that means he is not immune to criticism. As a matter of fact, a person who wants to be President of Zimbabwe must thoroughly be criticized. But some of us are old enough to differentiate between criticism and hate. And hate that comes disguised as constructive criticism will, and must be called out.

Many things have been said about the man, allegations that are unsubstantiated, baseless, dangerous, malicious and untrue in the form of demanding accountability. But no evidence whatsoever was ever released against him. So at the end of the day, it all comes down to hate.

    Zvitori hobho zvatisinga bvumirane.”

A healthy and functioning democracy demands that the people must be educated, knowledgeable, objective and, above all, they must hold the leaders to democratic account. The majority of Zimbabweans have a tribesman mentality where one defends everything the party leaders do and even regard them as demigods who can do no wrong.

Chamisa lied about plugging all the vote rigging loop holes to con millions into participating in flawed 2023 elections. And yet, millions are still in denial Chamisa lied, even now with all the evidence the elections were rigged!

“I believe Nelson Mandela's contributions to South Africa should be viewed in the context of his leadership style and the historical challenges he faced.

Firstly, Mandela's decision to step down after one term as president is indicative of his understanding of the importance of democratic principles. He recognized that leadership is not about personal power but about serving the people and allowing new generations to rise. This choice has allowed younger leaders to emerge, ensuring that South Africa can adapt and grow with fresh perspectives.

Critics who label Mandela as a "house nigger" misunderstand his reality. After spending 27 years in prison, he emerged into a world that had changed significantly. His priority was to foster stability and unity in a nation deeply divided by apartheid. He was aware of the complexities of governance and the potential pitfalls of power. By not overstaying his welcome, he demonstrated a commitment to the democratic process.

It's essential to acknowledge that the challenges facing South Africa today, including corruption, cannot solely be attributed to Mandela. These challenges are deeply rooted in the country's history and the ongoing struggle for development.

For South Africa to thrive, citizens must understand their roles and responsibilities. This includes paying taxes and holding leaders accountable. The leaders should not only enrichen themselves but should serve the people they purport to represent.

Mandela laid the groundwork for this by advocating for a participatory democracy and a society where leaders are answerable to the people.

Mandela's legacy is not one of failure but of hope and potential. He provided South Africans with a path towards a better future, one that requires collective effort and commitment from all citizens to achieve lasting change.

South Africans must have learnt a thing or two from how the North of Africa lost all it's glory. You do not do things haphazardly. The nation must be educated on how to be good citizens and be literate in financial and corporate matters.

After all this we still have a corrupt and ruthless regime to deal with in our wonderful Great Zimbabwe.”

I totally agree with you, Mandela achieved many things. Still there is some truth is saying many black South Africans have retained their slave status with Mandela the singled out slave!

  33. Chamisa lied about meeting Trump and he then lied that he had not lied and was confounded with a video of him lying. The tragedy is there are many Zimbabweans out there who still pretend he is not a LIAR!

This discussion is way above your mental ability. You are a simpleton who clearly does not appreciate that by failing to implement any reforms, for example, MDC/CCC were contributing to keeping Zanu PF in power and thus to the suffering of the people!

You do not know what the reforms are much less how they are implemented, even now with the benefit of hindsight. You are just like one of those “Upper Top” students - victim of the Zanu PF quantity but no quality ethos - who has done “O” levels but does not know what a verb is.

It is tragic that people like you have the vote; it is as irresponsible as giving a monkey a loaded gun! You have been participating in flawed elections, conned by Chamisa’s idiotic lies to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate your own suffering. How stupid can you be!

The tragedy for Zimbabwe is that these Chamisa chete chete brigade are easily conned to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship. They number in their millions and hence the reason why we cannot afford to ignore them They, in their infantile stupidity, are holding the nation to ransom!
