Chamisa's competence is under spotlight - sign people are finally waking up from sloth-like slumber. W Mukori.

A heated debate has erupted on X (formerly Twitter) over the political future of former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) leader Nelson Chamisa and the implications for Zimbabwe's opposition movement.

Chamisa's resignation as CCC president on January 24 has sparked significant criticism, with some analysts accusing him of abandoning the political scene amid internal conflicts.

Chamisa cited the hijacking of the movement by interim secretary-general Sengezo Tshabangu and the betrayal by party leaders as reasons for his resignation. Since then, Chamisa has maintained a low profile, offering sporadic encouragement to his followers through social media but leaving his future plans unclear.

The debate intensified with the 44th Sadc summit, where the Zimbabwean political scene was marked by controversy and government crackdowns on activists. Critics argue that Chamisa's ambiguous stance has weakened the opposition's effectiveness and made it harder for citizens to fight for justice. Political analyst Ibbo Mandaza has harshly criticized Chamisa, urging him to exit opposition politics and allow new leadership to emerge.

Supporters and critics alike are questioning Chamisa's next steps and his commitment to the opposition cause. Social justice activist Tendai Ruben Mbofana echoed concerns about Chamisa's lack of transparency and described his resignation as an act of cowardice. Mbofana also criticized Chamisa's supporters for being intolerant of criticism, comparing their behaviour to dictatorial tendencies.

When MDC leaders failed to implement even one token reform during the 2008 to 2013 GNU there was no doubt that they are breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent and should have been treated accordingly. Alas! Many Zimbabweans, including the intellectuals who should have known better, continued to treat Morgan Tsvangirai and his fellow MDC leaders as great statesmen and iconic leaders; cultivating and nurturing the personality cult mentality.

Ever since the GNU debacle, MDC leaders have abandoned the drive to implement democratic reforms under the pretext they have strategies of winning RIGGED elections. It was just nonsense to cover for the real reason that they had given up getting any reforms implemented they were participating in flawed elections foe a share of the spoils of power. The big surprise is many Zimbabweans were fooled and accepted the nonsense.

Chamisa blatantly lied about plugging all vote rigging loop holes to con Zimbabweans tom participate in flawed elections and they did. 2 million voted for him with 3 to 4 million in the diaspora cheering and bankrolling the elections. How anyone can fall for such an idiotic lie beggars belief. The fact that millions of Zimbabweans did speaks volumes of their ignorance and naivety.

One only hopes that the hive of political activity questioning Chamisa’s political competence is the sign Zimbabweans are waking up from the sloth-like political slumber and are beginning to see Chamisa and company for whom they really are - breathtakingly incompetent, corrupt and utterly useless!

All Mnangagwa got for being chairman of SADC is the hammer and gavel but to some one who crave for absolute power, it was crown and the throne. How he must be wishing he could have his goons chanting "2030 Mnangagwa will still be president of Zimbabwe and SADC chairman!"

No doubt, Foreign Minister Frederick Shava has staff looking into how Mnangagwa can be chairman of AU or something. If Zimbabwe was not booted out of the Commonwealth, he would want to succeed where Idi Amin failed!

Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, President of Zimbabwe and chairman of SADC. It tickles him all over!

“You can stop the so called Chete Brigades, and zanu is not foolish, they will create a ZUM party that will contest and participate in an election against zanu, and zanu will come out gun blazing winners, and the sad story continues.”

You are right Zanu PF can create another opposition just as the party created MDC A and CCC the most important thing is that the new party must con Zimbabweans to participate in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy.

The political awakening of the last few weeks is questioning not only Chamisa but the MDC/CCC leadership like never before. Zimbabweans should have questioned MDC leaders when they failed to implement even one democratic reform after the 2008 to 2013 GNU. They did not because they were fast asleep. The events of the last few weeks has seen people question Chamisa like never seen before.

Yes Zanu PF can form another opposition party and bankroll it as it has done with MDC/CCC and Chamisa, if people like Susan Mutate are to be believed. What matters is will Chamisa or his replacement be able to con Zimbabweans to participate in yet another flawed election? If not then Zanu PF knows that SADC will deny the regime political legitimacy!

  3. Dear Brett

I admire your passion or be it we part ways when you speak of “revolution” because you have failed to learn from the past.

You will accept the historic fact that Zimbabwe did indeed have a very bitter armed struggle that culminated with the 1980 independence. The very fact that you are calling for yet another revolution is proof the last one failed to deliver the freedom, justice, peace and economic prosperity the nation had hoped for.

Before we go ahead with the second revolution a good student of history would pose and ask the question: why was the last revolution a failure?

I will tell you why it failed: it was not well thought out!

Mahatma Gandhi and his fellow Indian Nationalist were put under great pressure to abandon their strategy of civil disobedience in their fight to end British rule of India. They resisted the pressure.

“What kind of leaders would the armed struggle throw up?” they asked themselves. “Would those be the men and women we would want to rule India?”

If the truth be told Zimbabweans should have asked themselves the same questions because our revolution thrown up the Zanu PF thugs who have ruled the country with an iron fist. We have given the world the answers to the two rhetorical questions Gandhi and company posed!

If we have learned anything then it must be that another revolution will not necessarily end our problem of bad governance. We must think and not plug headlong into yet another armed revolution.

We must resort to an armed revolution only when everything else has failed.

Has everything else failed? The answer is no!

The 2008 to 2013 GNU was a golden opportunity to implement the democratic reforms and end the Zanu PF dictatorship once and once for all. Mugabe bribed Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends with the trappings of high office; the E-Class Mercedes Benz ministerial limos, the generous salaries and allowances, the US$4 m mansion for Save himself, etc., etc. Inn return MDC leaders throw the reforms into devil-thorn Cactus thicket!

Ever since the GNU debacle MDC/CCC leaders have participated in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy in return for a few gravy train seat. They have con the people to participate telling them some idiotic winning RIGGED elections lies like “I plugged all vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!” 2 million Zimbabweans believed Chamisa’s lie last year! How stupid is that!

If people stop participating in the flawed elections Zanu PF will have no political legitimacy. SADC Election Observer Mission condemned 2023 elections but did not deny Zanu PF legitimacy because Zimbabweans participated in these elections in their millions!

Of course, it is foolish to resort to yet another armed struggle only because we, the people, do not have the common sense to realise that MDC/CCC leaders are corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless even when they have failed to implement even one reform in 24 years, including 5 in the GNU. Another bitter war will not knock common sense into people’s heads, try educating them!

Chamisa conned Zimbabweans into participating in a flawed and illegal 2023 elections with a promise CCC would win big because "I plugged all vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!" The very fact that 2 millions believed the idiotic lie and voted for him with 4 million in the diaspora cheering and bankrolling the elections speaks volumes of the calibre of Zimbabwean electorate.

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have some of the most ignorant and naive electorate on earth. What we need is to educate the voters, specifically educate them to stop participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy, not another revolution!

The people of Zimbabwe should have taken MDC/CCC leaders to task when they failed to implement even one token reform during the GNU. They are taking the corrupt and incompetent leaders to task now - better late than never!

After being conned to participate in flawed elections on the basis of an idiotic lie like "I plugged all the vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!" Zimbabweans are asking Chamisa & Co. for accountability like never before!

  6. @ Chatufa TV

If Chamisa is incorruptible as you say, then please explain why he and his MDC friends failed to implement even one democratic reform during the GNU? Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders with the trappings of high office: the E-Class Mercedes Benz ministerial limos, the very generous salaries and allowances, the US$4m mansion for Save, etc., etc. And in return MDC leaders kicked reforms into the devil-thorn Cactus.

“Mazivanhu eMDC adzidza kudya anyerere!” boasted Zanu PF cronies when asked during the GNU why MDC leaders were not implementing any democratic reforms.

Chamisa has often claimed that God was in many of his hare-brain schemes only for the plan to fail - proof Chamisa was lying and God was never behind the plan.

There are very serious consequences to Chamisa’s corruption and lies. By conning millions of Zimbabweans to participate in these flawed elections Chamisa is giving Zanu PF legitimacy for the sake of a few gravy train seats. And what is more Chamisa and his MDC/CCC friends know it!

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility,” confessed David Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

This Chatufa TV has joined Change Radio and Gambakwe in brainwashing the people by portraying Chamisa as some one he is not. Chamisa is a breathtakingly corrupt and incompetent and no amount of propaganda can change that! No amount of whitewash can change then rot inside the grave!

Zimbabwe is a failed state and MDC/CCC leaders have contributed in this by selling out on reforms. Falsifying these leaders’ track record to con the voters is only helping Zanu PF’s stay in power and perpetuating the nation’s suffering. How any one can do this and continue to evoke the name of God beggars belief!

How naive! Did Chamisa not take a long sabbatical after the fracas resulting in him losing MDC A to Mai Khupe/Mwonzora only for him to comeback and start CCC. He conned people to participate in 2023 elections insisting CCC would win big because he plugged vote rigging loop holes.

What makes you so sure he is not marking his time and will be back to con his braindead followers to participate in 2028 with yet another idiotic lie?

Even if Chamisa never comes back, he must still be held to account for failing to implement even one reform in 24 years, including 5 years in the GNU and for conning people to participate in flawed elections out of greed. Hold him and his sellout friends to account is the only sure way top make sure this does not happen again.

Why are you not only defending Chamisa but hell bent on silencing anyone who dares to hold him to account? Could it be because you think Chamisa is a demigod who must not be held to democratic account?

For a healthy and functioning democracy ALL citizens are supposed to hold leader to account. In Zimbabwe many of our people are doing the exact opposite, they are stifling debate and all efforts to hold leaders to account. No wonder we are a failed state!

  13. Well after 24 years, including 5 in the GNU, you have failed to implement even one token reform because you have no plan. The tragedy for the nation is that your braindead followers have failed to realise this much less the tragic consequences of this. Zanu PF has continued rigging elections and extending its disastrous stay in power precisely because MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement reforms.

Zimbabweans have risked livelihoods, limbs and over 500 lost their lives in the 2008 elections alone to elect MDC/CCC leaders into office on the understanding they would bring about the democratic changes to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. It is refreshing that for the first time since the launch of MDC in 1999 the nation is having a serious debate why we need the opposition in Zimbabwe?

Such historic video clips of Chamisa admitting he has no plan help to explain why he has accomplished nothing but more significantly help the nation review its own plan going forward. Do we really want to continue risking all to elect leaders who, once in power, will DO NOTHING because they have no plan? This question is even more important now after 24 wasted years of MDC/CCC doing nothing!!

Zanu PF was able to blatantly rig 2023 elections precisely because MDC/CCC leaders have failed to implement even one token democratic change to stop the regimne rigging elections. Why has Chamisa &Co. failed to implement even one token reform? For one thing, because they had no plan to implement even one reform. Chamisa even boasts about having no plan!

The people of Zimbabwe have risked livelihoods, limbs and over 500 lost their very lives to elect MDC/CCC leaders these last 24 years on the understanding that, once in power, they would implement the reforms to end the Zanu PF dictatorship. After 24 years with not even one token reform implemented and Chamisa admitting he has no plan to implement any reforms; Zimbabweans must now ask themselves why they are risking all to elect Chamisa & Co.?

In one of sane moments, Professor Jonathan Moyo said the people would vote for a donkey if the ablative was Mugabe! That was back in 2008. It must be said the people’s desperation has not changed. The truth of the matter is Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends were smart enough to realise the people’s desperation and presented themselves as the alternative to the donkey.

They have never lifted a finger to force through any meaningful change even when the golden opportunity to do so was presented to them in a silver platter during the GNU. Why risk Zanu PF thugs’ wrath when they aren guaranteed to win elections given the people’s desperation. The one thing all MDC/CCC leaders have done is remind the people how much they are suffering under Zanu PF, just to stir up the people’s anxiety to fever pitch especially during elections.

So instead of implementing the reforms to ensure free, fair and credible elections MDC/CCC leaders have not only done nothing to implement reforms they have participated in flawed elections to secure a few gravy train seats and thus book their position as the government in waiting. They knew this will give Zanu PF legitimacy and perpetuate the dictatorship. They do not care about that. They want the people to suffer until they are finally forced to act!

After 24 years, including 5 in the GNU, one would have thought the penny would have dropped by now that the MDC/CCC leaders are running with the povo hare and hunting with Zanu PF hounds hence the reason not evening reform was implemented. Alas! The penny has not dropped in the people’s heads, including the millions of intellectuals one would expect to be better informed.

Considering the ease with which Chamisa has conned Zimbabweans to participate in flawed elections with idiotic lies like “I have plugged all vote rigging loop holes. #Godisinit!” It is clear there are many Zimbabweans whose brains have ossified into fat.

Chamisa has millions of brain dead captive supporters who will do whatever he ask them to do. Mankind is supposed to be a creature of reason but not if there is more fat than brain tissue! To add insult to injury, in Zimbabwe we have given the millions of brain dead the vote.

Chamisa and company should not have participated in the flawed and illegal process; They knew the process is flawed and that participating will give Zanu PF legitimacy. And still they went ahead because they also knew that Zanu PF was giving away a few gravy train seats. Here is what David Coltart said on the matter.

“The (2013) electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. Chamisa was not on his own in the GNU, he had his MDC colleagues with him and anyone of the over 110 MDC MPs, 40 plus MDC senators, 30 MDC ministers and deputy ministers, 2 Deputy PM and 1 PM could have submitted a reform proposal in any area. In 1978 Ian Smith, Muzorewa and Sithole signed the Zimbabwe-Rhodesia internal settlement. Zanu and Zapu boycotted the elections and so did many ordinary people. If Zimbabweans had boycotted the 2023 elections and both SADC and AU had condemn the process, as they did, I am 100% certain SADC would have denied Zanu PF legitimacy.

Universal suffrage is a blessing when there is a political will to educate voters so they are knowledgeable and can hold the leaders to account. Where the leaders do not want to be held to account and deliberately brainwashing the people for the purpose of corrupting and controlling them then universal suffrage is a curse.

  28. Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 2023 elections and there is overwhelming evidence that ZEC is not independent and so are many other key state institutions like the judiciary, Police, Army and CIO.The other elephant in the room than is not being named here is the opposition.

Why is it that MDC failed to implement even one token reform in 24 years including 5 in the GNU? Worse still, why has the opposition ignored advice not to participate in the flawed elections?

Chamisa lied about plugging all vote rigging loop holes to con people to participate in the flawed elections. He did not even deploy election agents at all polling stations although he had received funding for it!

Ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC leaders have been running with the povo hare but hunting with the Zanu PF hounds in broad-day. Why the people have failed to see this is not exactly a mystery given 2 million believed Chamisa’s idiotic lie of plugging all the vote rigging loop holes!

Still, Zanu PF is finding it near impossible to shake-off that it rigged 2023 elections. Zanu PF knows that rigging the next elections will be hard enough and getting away with it will be mission impossible, particularly now that ANC has lost its absolute majority in parliament and will no longer protect the regime.

“More nonsense! The people encouraged CCC to go ahead with the elections. If it was a wrong move, then we blame ourselves and not one party or individual. It was a collective decision. Had ZEC announced the results as they normally do, CCC would be in office today.”

Did Chamisa lie about plugging all vote rigging loop holes or not. It was not a collective decision to lie about plugging loop holes? It is shocking how you agonise over this! You are ashamed to admit you were foolish to have belied the lie? You look even more foolish denying it was a lie!

The trouble with some people is they do not want to admit to even historic facts. They bury their heads in the backside of the leaders and hope the hard facts will disappear like the morning mist under the African sun!

“But bro, why can't you start your own movement, and lead rather than castigating others who had the guts to stand up and start theirs.

    Have the guts man.”

This is not about “castigating others” but rather holding them to democratic account. If you hold public office then you must be accountable to the people.

This is also about educating the people so that they are knowledgeable and diligent in holding the leaders to account.

I know you are simpleton and so none of this makes any sense to you.

Zanu PF blatantly rigged the 23 rd August 2023 Zimbabwe elections, over a year ago now, and yet something has happened every week and sometimes every day to remind us all that Mnangagwa rigged the elections and, per se, is illegitimate. What is worse, this is clear that Zanu PF will not be able to shake this notoriety. Mnangagwa must fell like the honey badger everyone is turning up the nose when he is around!

Worst of all Mnangagwa knows, he is constantly reminded so he does not forget, that rigging 2028 elections will be ease, he is counting on Chamisa & Co. to con Zimbabweans to participate in the flawed elections in their millions as happened last year, getting away with it will be near impossible. SADC leaders will not want the skunk around, it has given the whole region a bad name already!

Zanu PF was able to blatantly rig 2023 elections and get away with it because MDC/CCC leaders sold out big time! They have not only failed to implement even one token reform in 24 years but have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. And yet still people still refuse to admit Chamisa &Co. are corrupt, incompetent and utterly useless because they have the tribesman mentality.

According to ancient Greeks, there are three types of people, the idiots, the tribesman and the citizens. The idiot, is an idiot and only thinks of me, myself and I and the here and now. The tribesman will never ever accept anything that will portray his leader and tribe in bad light regardless of how true and factual and damn the consequences of his folly.

The citizen is open minded and will accept the evidence and that the leader and tribe wrong doing, after all they are all fallible mortals. The citizen will take on board lessons learned and move on.

Zimbabwe is a fail state because we have idiots and tribesmen galore but, alas, very few citizens!

Your tribesman mentality is to deny everything, stick your head in Chamisa’s backside and hope it will all go away. It is a great pity that village idiots like are number in the millions and you lot have the vote.

"No I don't. It's you assertion. Prove it."

There is nothing I or anyone can say to make you see what you are INCAPABLE of seeing and comprehend because you have your eyes and mind closed. You brain has ossified into fat and is impermeable to reason and logic.

The tragedy for Zimbabwe is you and your fellow brain dead number in you millions (as we saw with the vote for Chamisa because you believed the lie he had plugged vote rigging loop holes). And, alas, you have the vote! Poor Zimbabwe, no wonder we ARE a failed state.

“But don't you think that your educating people is now of no substance because you are saying the same things to the same audience.

What I am saying is, if you think you can do things better than Chamisa or Tsvangirai, why can't you form your own party and implement what you are saying since time immemorial that was failed to be implemented by MDC/CCC.

Form your own party, register it, contest elections and implement reforms.

You will never implement reforms on this platform.”

I will assume you are what you name suggests you you are - an evangelist. Why are you teaching people the Ten Commandments that are now 3 000 years old?

You do so, or hope you do, because they are still as relevant today as the day Moses brought them from Mount Sinai!

Zimbabwe is a failed state because we have failed to hold free, fair and credible elections in 44 years and counting. I am talking about the need to implement the democratic reforms because that is the only sure way to cure ourselves of this curse.

It is not so much that you are tired of hearing me talk of reforms, after all you talk about 3 000 year old laws brought by some old man you next ever met. You do not want me to talk about reforms and how MDC/CCC sold out by failing to implement even one reform in 24 years including 5 in the GNU. Well it is true that Chamisa and company sold sold and they must and will be held to account.

You want me to form my own party so that I can stop holding Chamisa & Co. to account for selling out? Cheap shot! Chamisa and company are public officials and they are, per se, accountable - that is not negotiable.

    “Who doesn't lie in politics?

Hauna kupindura zvandakubvunza kumusoro . Sewe zvako you irrelevant munyaya dzepolitics . You are on a stupid mission to discredit those who are called real men in Zim politics . Ndimi varume vanopfeka mabraa.”

Your stupidity never cease to amaze me. How is it possible that any one can be so shallow, thick and slow.

We are all sinners so we should allow murderers to go free! Of course, not!

Zimbabwe is a failed state because Chamisa & Co. sold out be failing to implement even one reform in 24 years, including 5 in the GNU. They have been participating in flawed elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy out of greed. Chamisa lied to con millions of Zimbabweans to participate in last year’s elections to perpetuate the dictatorship and the nation’s suffering.

Only a village idiot like you would want all this swept under the carpet under the pretext “Who doesn’t lie in politics”! Fcuk me! No wonder Zimbabwe is a failed state, we really have some braindead idiots amongst us!

Zimbabweans have been brainwashed into believing leaders and political parties are not only the panacea of all the nation's problem but worst of all, that they are helpless with the leaders and parties! Of course, that is hogwash.

Democracy is government of the people, for the people and by the people and it is the people who must hold the leaders to account to the point of removing them from office, vote them out, as they, the people, see fit. How can the people hold the leaders to account if it is the leaders who are wielding the power.

In Zimbabwe it is the political leaders who are holding the people to account, it is the tail that is wagging the dog, but only because the political leaders have usurped the people's power.

We needed to implement democratic reforms BEFORE 2028 elections or else people must not participate. We do not need a leader nor political party to do this!
