CCC will win 2023 elections!" Need a reality check especially after 42 years of rigged elections! N Garikai

“Our motive is clear, we want to win the 2023 Presidential Election. Let it be known that Chigumba cannot stop the wave of change,” said CCC Task Force Committee member for communication, Stephen Sarkozy Chuma.

Wanting to win and actually winning are two different things. There is nothing to stop me saying I want to run 100 m in 10 seconds or even 200m in 10 seconds. What matters is the reality. I know with my pot-belly if I run 20m, forgot 100m, in 10 seconds I will be huffing and puffing!

A rational person will try a few time to run 100m and if their time is way off the 10 seconds mark will accept they cannot run 100m in 10 seconds. If a great athlete like Usan Bolt at his best just managed to run 100m in under 10 seconds it is just nonsense to claim one can run twice the distance, 200m, in 10 seconds.

The trouble with these CCC supporters is they are do not know the difference between fact and wishful thing, truth and reality, what they can and cannot do.

Zanu PF is rigging these elections and the evidence is there for everyone to see. ZEC has stubbornly refused to produce a verified voters’ roll, how can the elections be free and fair without something as basic as the voters’ roll. The regime is denying 3 million Zimbabweans in the diaspora the vote because most of these voters are economic and/or political refugees and they blame Zanu PF for their plight. Zanu PF knows that and is cherry picking who can vote.

CCC’s flagship strategy of mass voter registration was dead in the water from the word go because we know from past experience that ZEC will make it near impossible for opposition supporters to register. And so it was no surprise that as of 30 May 2022, four years since the last election and a year to go before the 2023 elections, only 250 000 new voters had register. This is 4% of CCC’s own target to register 6 million new voters!

After 42 years of rigged elections one would think the penny has finally drop on the sheer futility of participating in these elections so flawed and illegal not even getting 73% of the votes was good enough to win, as the March 2008 vote showed.

Of course, the CCC leaders themselves know it is futile participating in these flawed elections as David Coltart confessed in his book.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the (2023) elections,” wrote Coltart in his Book, The Struggle Continues 50 years of Tyranny in Zimbabwe.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

The failure to agree a coalition was just a feeble excuse for participating. The truth is MDC leaders participated in the 2013 elections for the same reasons they had failed to implement even one reform during the GNU – greed (which Coltart admitted to above) and their breath-taking incompetence.

In any case, the four main MDC factions did form the MDC Alliance just before the 2018 elections. They all knew with not even one token reform implemented since 2013 elections, Zanu PF was rigging those elections too. And yet there was still no talk of boycotting those elections for the same reasons – incompetence and greed.

MDC/CCC have been participating in these elections to give Zanu PF legitimacy for the sake of the few gravy train seats Zanu PF gives away as bait.  At least there is something in it for the Chamisa and company; there is absolutely for the ordinary citizen to gained from this madness of perpetuating the Zanu PF dictatorship.

Of course, it is insane to keep participating in elections so flawed and so illegal the only rational course of action is to boycott but to arrive at that decision one must necessarily be rational. Sadly, many of our people are NOT rational. Why anyone would participate in such flawed and illegal elections, especially after 42 years of rigged elections beggars belief? How can anyone not know what constitute free, fair and credible elections, in this day and age?

Both Zanu PF and CCC are conning the people into participating in flawed elections process for the political leaders’ selfish gain. And the voters are so naïve and gullible they don’t even know they are being short changed, even after 42 years of rigged elections.

Universal suffrage should be a blessing, but in Zimbabwe it is clearly a curse particularly when both Zanu PF and CCC are not lifting a finger to educate the voters but taking full advantage of their ignorance instead.

The Ancient Greeks, the fathers of democracy, were right, for democracy to work the citizens must be well educated on their rights and duties as citizens and they must be diligent in the exercise and defence of both. In Zimbabwe democracy was never given a chance.
Mugabe was so fearful of losing the 1980 elections he made it clear if Zanu PF lost the elections the bush war would continue. Of course, the populous voted to end the war and thus lost the right to free elections. As soon as Mugabe got into power he number one priority was to consolidate his hold on power by denying the people their freedoms and rights.
Instead of having a public media there to educate the people he returned the one inherited from the white with one tweak – the media was now to saved Zanu PF the same way it had saved the whites.
During the 2008 to 2013 GNU MDC should have reformed the public media and freed it to do the important task of educating the people. The only reform Tsvangirai demanded was that the public media should stop calling him a puppet. They dutifully did that for a few month!
Both Zanu PF and MDC have benefited from keeping the electorate ignorant and naïve, their stay in power would have never lasted these years otherwise.
Still there is an urgent need to educate the people and end this insanity of Zanu PF rigging the elections and CCC participating to give Zanu legitimacy for the sake of a few gravy train seats. This madness cannot be allowed to continue!

  2. Independent election watchdog, Project Launch 263 in a High Court application dated November 28 accused the electoral management body of refusing to release the document to hide its alleged plot to rig the 2023 elections.

Project Launch 263 executive director Youngerson Matete said Zec's refusal was patently unlawful, unjustified and unreasonable.

"I, therefore, submit that the respondent's action is unlawful, unjustified and grossly unreasonable and actuated by bad faith," Matete said in his founding affidavit.

"The reason that it is enhancing security features on the electronic voters' roll is disingenuous and unsustainable.

"It's a smokescreen being used to effectively deny us the copy."
ZEC has never ever produced a verified voters’ roll sine the country’s independence in 1980. And we can be certain of one thing, this is not going to change now. Of course, the voters’ roll is a key vote rigging tool in Zanu PF one the party will not want to lose this close to the 2023 elections.
The pressure is not only being brought on Zanu PF to produce verified voters’ roll but also on CCC for participating in an election process without something as basic as a verified voters’ roll. Chamisa and co have participated in the elections with no verified voters’ roll and no doubt will do so again. This time they must know that their political credibility is on the line!

  3. THERE is internecine strife in the Citizens' Coalition for Change (CCC) party to the extent that top official, Charlton Hwende, has decided to stop campaigning for the party in Mhondoro.

This comes after claims that Hwende is planning to impose his preferred candidates to contest the 2023 harmonised elections.

The reportedly well-resourced politician, who has lately been conspicuous by his absence at CCC leader Nelson Chamisa's recent rallies, is said to be fomenting factionalism following a claimed fallout with erstwhile benefactor and principal, Chamisa.

Hwende announced on Twitter that the meeting he organised in Mhondoro over the weekend was his last meeting as he has noticed the negative comments from CCC citizens on Twitter whenever he goes to Mgwazo in Mhondoro.

Wrote Hwende, "Yesterday I addressed a ward meeting of @CCCZimbabwe volunteers in Mhondoro. We prefer smaller meetings to counter victimization. This is probably my last meeting. I have noticed the negative comments from our CCC citizens on Twitter whenever I go on Mgwazo in Mhondoro

"I have also considered the stress and anguish which most of the comments cause to my teenage kids. The reason I agreed to help in Mhondoro was to assist in growing the rural vote. I did 38 weekend meetings this year funding myself & abandoning my work at my logistics company
The biggest challenge for Chamisa and his opposition was oi implement the democratic reforms and stop Zanu PF rigging the elections. They had the golden opportunity to implement the reforms during the 2008 to 2013 GNU and they wasted it.
Ever since the GNU debacle, MDC/CCC have tried to bluff their way by pretending they can still win rigged elections. There is a limit to how much bluff one can get away with in this world, Chamisa and company have used up all their cat’s nine lives allocation.
MDC leaders have proven beyond all doubt that they are breathtakingly incompetent, they really have no clue what they are doing beyond their desire to be in power.
SADC leaders lost all their confidence in MDC leaders after they failed to implement any reform during the GNU, they have granted vote rigging Zanu PF legitimacy ever since. The EU have since followed SADC’s example they have lifted the sanctions and have recently stepped up their re-engagement with Zanu PF.
Like it or not CCC has lost political credibility and relevance, their own internal infighting is the least of their problems!
Frankly CCC is now as much a hinderance to Zimbabwe’s hope to get out of this hell-hole as Zanu PF itself. What the country needs is a new GNU and a chance to finally, finally, implement the reforms.

  4. I listened to a twitter discussion hosted by Lynnet Manzini on the US$40 000 loan to MPs. Many of the participants saw nothing wrong with the loan. “MPs work very hard and deserve to be rewarded. Beside by paying them well, this will stop them becoming corrupt!” they argued.
If the MPs worked hard then how come the country is in a real big mess because corruption, mismanagement and lawlessness have become rampant? What have they been doing? They are the ones entrusted with the responsibility to enact the necessary laws to stamp out corruption and all manner of lawlessness to ensure the nation’s peace, justice and economic prosperity!
The US$40 000 loan is one of many bribes MPs, Judges, top brass in the security services and the rest of the so-called ruling elite have received. Of course, it is a bribe to keep them loyal to President Mnangagwa, the benevolent dictator dishing out the bribes.
Mnangagwa was not elected by the people in a free, fair and credible elections, he rigged the elections. He is facing fresh elections next year and so he is dishing out bribes to ensure the continued blind loyalty of those who will help him rig the elections – that is what the patronage system is all about.
The enthusiasm of the participants showed many aspire to join the gravy train and become a member of this exclusive ruling elite. Corruption has certainly penetrated deep into Zimbabwe society and to uprooting it will be a challenge!

  5. @ Mbofana
“As Zimbabwe continues to sink deeper into an economic abyss - exacerbated by recurrent crippling electricity shortages - one is baffled as to why heads at the power utility are not rolling.

No one, with an once of decency and sincerity in their veins, can dispute that these perennial power problems are largely due to the rampant corruption and incompetence both at ZESA (Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority), and its major shareholder, the Government of Zimbabwe.

As is common knowledge - a fish always rots from the head!”
What is Gata still doing at ZESA, you asked. Looting of course, is it obvious!
What is Mnangagwa still doing in State House, you might as well ask too!
Zimbabwe is a pariah state governed by corrupt, incompetent and murderous thugs who rig elections to stay in power. And as long as they are allowed to rig elections and stay in power, thanks to the corrupt and incompetent CCC leaders who sold out on reforms and whose participation in these flawed elections give Zanu legitimacy; Zimbabwe will continue to sink deeper and deeper into the abyss!
Why are Zimbabweans continuing to participate in elections so flawed and illegal that getting 73% of the votes is not good enough to win? Until the people are smart enough to know what constitute free, fair and credible elections and have the courage to demand reforms to ensure free elections this country will continue to sink into the abyss and deservedly so too!

  6. Zambia announces 6-hour load shedding.
Six hour! They are lucky. In Zimbabwe load shedding is no longer counted in hours, there will be too many zeros; we have gone from hours to days, weeks and now we are on to months! In some areas power has been off for so long that thieves stole the transformers came back and stole the conductors. And now even the poles have gone! Unless there is regime change, these people’s load shedding will be counted in years!

  7. ZIMBABWE is expected to pocket a maximum 60% of proceeds from the Muzarabani gas and oil fields, if the discovery proves to be of commercial value, Australian investor Invictus Energy local representative Paul Chimbodza has said.

Chimbodza, who is managing director of the Australian-listed company's local subsidiary Geo Associates, said the decision had been agreed on by both parties seeing as the resources being explored belonged to the people of Zimbabwe.
The diamonds from Marange and Chiadzwa belong to the people of Zimbabwe too and so does the gold and other resources. How much have the ordinary Zimbabwean benefited from them? Why should the oil and gas be any different!
The sitting MPs must be cursing their rotten luck that the oil and gas project has not come on stream already, they would have force Mnangagwa to be a lot more generous and add two more zeros, at least, to the US$ 40 000 golden handshake loan they are getting from the godfather of corruption!

  8. Self-exiled and former Cabinet Minister, Saviour Kasukuwere is desperate to make a political coming back and has been engaging some fringe political parties to support his 2023 presidential bid , it has emerged.

A source who spoke to this reporter said Kasukuwere was desperate to be the country's next president and has been in communication with some local political parties urging them to rally behind him under the Third Way political coalition ahead of the 2023 plebiscite.

"Kasukuwere is making manoeuvres to return into politics and is courting several fringe political parties to support his presidential bid under the Third Way coalition. Last week, Kasukuwere held a virtual meeting with Freedom of Rights Under Sovereign (FORUS) party, leader Ireen Munyeziwa and expressed his intention to come back to contest the 2023 presidential elections. Kasukuwere told Munyeziwa that he wanted FORUS to be part of the Third Way coalition. Kasukuwere bragged to Munyeziwa that he has massive support across the country and he only needs all opposition parties to coalesce around him in a bid to dislodge ZANU PF from power," said the source.

The source said that in the same virtual meeting also attended by FORUS vice president, Emmanuel Katsvamutowa and FORUS secretary for mobilisation, Lawrence Dembedza, Kasukuwere said that he has support from other opposition parties who have all agreed to support his presidential candidature.

According to the source, Kasukuwere lied that some G40 remnants, some ZANU PF members and Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members has expressed their zeal to support him in the forthcoming elections.
Here comes the chief of the green bombers, Savour Kasukuwere!
Since these elections are not going to be free, fair and credible we might as well go the full hog – let the Zanu PF thugs fight it out. Kasukuwere knows that Mnangagwa is rigging these elections and, unlike Chamisa with his idiotic “winning in rigged elections strategies”, he would have ways of fighting back the rigging and will even have one or two vote rigging moves of his own. After all the two Zanu PF thugs will both know the working of the Zanu PF vote rigging machinery.
Kasukuwere can see Mnangagwa has failed to revive the country’s economy and the populous are restless for change. He is stepping up to take full advantage of that since Chamisa has clearly failed to.
As for the ordinary Zimbabweans, they are indifferent to as to whether Mnangagwa or Kasukuwere win the rigged elections. To the hare there really is no difference between a cobra and a black mamba , both are deadly!
