"Mugabe is our asset for 2018," says Zanu PF Minister - count on brute to rig Wilbert Mukori

“The long (bank) queues (for cash) are very worrisome. These may lead to voter apathy and we need to seriously look into this issue and find a lasting solution. We cannot afford to have voter apathy because our aim is to consolidate on the votes we gained in 2013. We should surpass those numbers because 2018 is a watershed election,” admitted Zanu PF’s Secretary for transport and welfare, Oppah Muchinguri – Kashiri.

In the next breath, she was off at a tangent!

“As Manicaland, we are rallying behind President Mugabe. We know his well documented history. He is our candidate for 2018 and anyone thinking otherwise is lost. He is a giant among giants as he is the only president who challenged USA President Donald Trump at the just-ended United Nations Summit. President Mugabe is our jewel and asset.”

Zimbabwe has gone from being one of the most prosperous nations in Africa in 1980 when Mugabe took over from the white colonial regime to become the poorest nation in Africa.

Once upon a time Zimbabwe was rightly proud to not only produce enough to feed its own people but had enough surplus to be the bread basket of the region. That was so until Mugabe seized the farms to feed his and his cronies’ insatiable greed for looted wealth. Today, except for the odd good year, Zimbabwe is relying on imported food aid – aid because it is too poor to pay for it.

In this day and age when human ingenuity has turned deserts into blooming orchards; we are starving in the land which for all intent and purpose is the Garden of Eden. Such is the damning testimonial of Mugabe’s incompetence as a leader!

On the political front, Mugabe has had to murder a staggering 30 000 innocent Zimbabweans; to say nothing of the millions harassed, beaten and raped; to establish and retain his 37 years old de facto one-party cum one-man dictatorship.

“President Mugabe is our jewel and asset!” Only a real sick sycophant would still say that!

Oppah Muchinguri and her equally brainwashed Zanu PF sycophants are stuck in a rut. They can all see that the country is in a mess because of the decades of misrule by this corrupt, vote rigging and murderous tyrant, Robert Mugabe. His poor health and advance age makes him even less appealing as presidential candidate. The only reason they all want him to be Zanu PF’s presidential candidate for next year is because they are stuck.

Zanu PF needs a candidate who is ruthless enough to blatantly rig the elections, even shed innocent blood if necessary; in Robert Mugabe the party members know they have one such brute.

The country’s only hope of stopping yet another Zanu PF landslide victory next year is for the people to demand the implementation of all the democratic reforms BEFORE elections are held. Morgan Tsvangirai is encouraging the people to take part in these flawed and illegal elections on the basis that MDC has devised Winning In Rigged Elections (WIRE) strategies. This is utter nonsense!

  1. Violence has broken out between Zanu PF and MDC-T supporter in Chitungwiza. According to MDC-T officials, 10 MDC-T members were injured, some seriously, and 3 members were arrested by the Police. Zanu PF members usually attack the opposition and if anyone is ever arrested, more often than not it is the opposition members.

Can someone please tell me, does MDC-T Winning In Rigged Elections (WIRE) strategies include strategies to make sure Zanu PF thugs committing the violence are arrested and punished and, better still, end this culture of political violence?

The people of Zimbabwe must take note that we could have been spared the pain of the rigged July 2013 elections if Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friends had cared to listen to SADC leaders’ advise to implement the reforms during the GNU. They failed to get even one reform implemented in five years! The regional leaders advised MDC leaders not to contest the July 2013 elections without implementing the reforms first but again the good advice fell on deaf ears.

The only reason Tsvangirai and company continue to contest these flawed elections is the same reason they failed to get even one reform implemented during the GNU - greed. David Coltart readily admitted this in his recent book.

“The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn’t now do the obvious – withdraw from the elections,” explained Senator Coltart.

“The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility.”

If any of the relative of the 10 injured MDC-T members were smart, they should sue the party MDC-T and one or two of its leaders for exposing their relative to unnecessary danger because of their political incompetence! The price this nation has had to pay for MDC leaders’ betrayal and sell-out is unacceptable. The fear is as the election fever hots up there will be more Zanu PF inspired harassment, beating, rapes and, God forbid, murders!

Zanu PF’s vote rigging is well and truly underway, MDC-T’s WIRE strategies are totally ineffective. It is futile taking part in these elections when it is already clear Zanu PF has already secured another landslide victory. All participation is only to give the flawed process some modicum of credibility!

What Zimbabwe needs to get out of the economic and political mess the country finds itself stuck in is an electorate that is willing to open its eyes and stop following corrupt and incompetent leaders blindly like sheep to the slaughter! Nations get the government they deserve and we certain deserve this corrupt and murderous Zanu PF dictatorship complete with its entourage of corrupt and incompetent opposition parties, all 75 of them!

Soon our ballot will be in produced in a booklet with numbered pages to fit all the candidates!

  2. “I also intend, going forward, to pursue a thrust on rapprochement, we need to get back together with many of our friends that have gone away,” said Foreign Minister Walter Mzembi, amid applause from diplomats and guests.

“We need to convert our political relations now into economics so that we can uplift the lives of our people.”

This is just the usual nonsense coming from Zanu PF. Two weeks ago he was asked if he would allow foreign observers to monitor next year's elections and he said no. We all know why, the regime is set on rigging the elections.

The regime is aware the country is in a real economic mess and that the problem of poverty is now too large and too deep to ignore. What the regime is hoping to do is address the economic problem without having to give up an inch of its absolute political power; an impossible task given the economic meltdown is caused by the gross mismanagement and rampant corruption the bye-products of the corrupt and tyrannical dictatorship. To end the economic meltdown, we must end the dictatorship, through free, fair and credible elections.

Zanu PF is hoping it can rig the elections and then address the economic problems; this will never work!

  3. “In his pursuit of personal power and ideological objectives, Robert Mugabe cynically manipulated both ally and adversary, friend and foe. Previously unpublished documents from his first five years in office reveal a skilled deceiver – a man who wore masks as often as others believed he could be taken at face value,” wrote Stuart Doran.
“In the years before Mugabe took power, perceptions of him were more cardboard cut-out than reality – ranging from Marxist fanatic at one end of the spectrum to selfless liberation icon at the other. So it is of little wonder that these views were radically altered when occasional glimpses were replaced by regular acquaintance after he became prime minister of the new Zimbabwe in 1980. His Rhodesian political nemesis, Ian Smith, was typical, writing of their first meeting that Mugabe was “the antithesis of the communist gangster I had expected”.”

You are spot on, President Mugabe loved material wealth but above all he loved absolute power. The man is a control freak who had spies on everyone and, to make sure he covered everything, had two different sets of spies on the same person and then another layer of spies spying on spies.

In all his 37 years in government and his passion for globetrotting he has never allowed a cabinet meeting to go ahead unless he was there to chair it!

President Mugabe is so distrustful of everyone it is little wonder he had no friends. He is paranoid about his security he “sleeps with one eye open”, according to his wife Grace.

President Mugabe has been obsessed about consolidating his political base and hanging on to power he too his eye off the negative effect his patronage system was having on the national economy. The man’s no heart, even today with unemployment a nauseating 90% and 72.3% of the population living on US$ 1.00 or less he continues to spend money hand over fist on his power games undaunted by the human suffering and deaths around him.

The nation had its best opportunity to price Mugabe’s gecko fingers off the throne during the GNU when all Morgan Tsvangirai and his MDC friend had to do was implement the democratic reforms. The tyrant bribed the MDC leaders just as easily as he had bribed his own Zanu PF cronies, not even one reform was implemented in five years.

Mugabe would rather drag the whole nation into deepest and hottest hell on earth than give up on his project to hang on to power at all cost until death do us part! It is looking increasingly likely that he will get his wish, another rigged election next year could be the final push to send Zimbabwe tumbling down into the abyss!

  4. When it comes to finding money for his Singapore health and leisure trips, to consolidate his own hold on power, etc.; President Mugabe has never failed to raise the money, whatever it takes. When it is money to buy even the most basic necessities of life such as pain killers, chemicals for water treatment, etc., for the ordinary people, there is no money!

The party will raise and spend US$ 8 million on a party congress at a time when even the country's big hospitals like Parerenyatwa and Mpilo cannot carry out even the most routine operations because they have no pain killers!

Everyday we are being reminded what a megalomania President Mugabe is. He spent a staggering US$ 4 billion to bankroll his vote rigging schemes in 2013 and for next year's elections he is set to spend US$ 10 billion plus! It is naive to believe Tsvangirai and his band of riff-raffs will ever come up with any Winning In Rigged Elections (WIRE) strategies to dislodge Mugabe and Zanu PF.

The only way to stop President Mugabe and his Zanu PF rigging next year's elections and drag this nation even deeper into the economic and political hell the regime landed us in is by insisting in implementing the democratic reforms BEFORE elections. There is no other way!
