Movement
for Democratic Change (MDC), led by Welshman Ncube, has reportedly said the
fall of Myanmar's dictatorship was an indication Zimbabwe would one day be
freed from the rule of President Robert Mugabe and his Zanu-PF party.
Ncube said this in a congratulatory message to Myanmar's opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi

The
trouble with corrupt and incompetent leaders; they are always looking for
excuses and scapegoats for their own failures. Mugabe and Zanu PF are still in
power today because of anything they have done but rather for what Professor
Ncube and his MDC friends failed to do.
After
the barbarism of the wanton violent elections of 2008 SADC forced President
Mugabe and Zanu PF to sign the Global Political Agreement (GPA) at the heart of
which that the GNU would implement a number of democratic reforms so that the
violence and all the other irregularities that had characterized the 2008
elections will never be repeated. MDC was to implement the reforms and to be
fair to SADC they did the best to get MDC to implement the reforms.
President
Mugabe bribed the MDC leaders to kick the reforms into the tall grass with the
gravy train lifestyles including the $4 million Highlands mansion for MDC
leader Morgan Tsvangirai. MDC leaders sold-out! So at the end of the GNU not
even one reform was implemented and President Mugabe and Zanu PF were able to
rig the July 2013 elections with easy and get back into power.
SADC
heads rightly complained that MDC leaders “enjoyed being in the GNU and forgot
why they were there!”
Myanmar's
opposition leader, Aung San Suu Kyi and her colleagues have fought that
nation’s military junta all the way, there is no point anyone can ever accuse
her of being corrupt and incompetent let alone selling out. To try and compare
MDC leaders to Myanmar’s opposition leaders is therefore to insult the latter.
Comparing
Aung San Suu Kyi and to leaders like Welshman Ncube or Morgan Tsvangirai is
like comparing sheep with a wolf in sheep clothing, they are all opposition
leaders but whilst the former delivered democratic change the latter had the
chance to do so but failed because their wolf nature got the better of them.
"Having
suffered under the dictatorship of President Robert Mugabe for the last 35
years, your victory is a reminder to the people of Zimbabwe that people power
will always prevail in the end," Ncube said.
